Omega Reimagined #5

Omega Replaced

Rate this book
Alpha Donovan is certain about one thing. His work recovering missing omegas who’ve been separated from their protectors is a service—to the alphas who hire him and to the omegas themselves. What he’s less confident about is his unconventional desire to be dominated by someone as strong as he is. No alpha is supposed to want that.

When Donovan arrives in North Leland, he expects it to be just another job. Find the omega, bring her home. Then he meets Judge Tarek, the gorgeous alpha determined to thwart his mission. Tarek disapproves of his job, but not his fantasies, which he’s ready and oh-so-able to fulfill.

Everything is backwards in this strange town. Wanting another alpha’s teeth in your neck is okay, but returning an omega to their rightful place isn’t? Donovan has a lot to learn, and if he can’t change his way of thinking fast enough, he’s going to lose what he’s never allowed himself to believe he could have.

Omega Replaced is an alpha/alpha novella with BDSM components in the Omega Reimagined series. It can be read as part of the series or as a standalone. This is a non-MPREG omegaverse.

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.75 stars

Omega Replaced is the fifth book in Tanya Chris’ Omega Reimagined series. The story stands alone, though Carmen is introduced in her brother’s story, Omega Revealed, and some of the side characters from the series appear here.

The hallmark of this series for me is the way that Chris plays with the various “caste” roles and creates a wide range of pairings outside the typical omegaverse alpha/omega couples. The stories focus on characters who are getting the chance to express their true selves or their inner desires, now that North Leland has become more liberal and accepting. So I enjoy that aspect of the series and here we explore an alpha/alpha relationship. Poor Donovan knows what he wants, but he hasn’t even been able to contemplate the idea of being with another alpha. It is so foreign, so completely out of the realm of what is possible in his experience, that he keeps his desires a secret. When Donovan meets Tarek, suddenly he can live out his fantasy, but he still doesn’t think it can be anything long term. So it is nice to see Donovan find his happiness and realize that being with another alpha is something he can really have.

A very satisfying love story that also has some interesting things to say about internalized homophobia, something a gay man of my generation (Boomer) knows quite a bit about.
Chris is my go-to gal; her books are smexy and heartfelt and I love her characters.
re-read 11/23 Just as good the second time; the alpha/alpha combination really appeals to me.

One thing I have absolutely loved about this series, is that the norms of alpha, omega, beta relationships are completely destroyed in it. Omegas can be with omegas, alpha with alphas, omegas and betas, women and women, men and men, it doesn’t matter. As long as you are in a consensual relationship and happy, then more power to you. And I love it. People, or shifters, should be allowed to love who they want to love, just like in life.
But in this series, as well as in life, freedom laws are coming with a price. Not all the other packs are as progressive as this pack and it’s stirring up trouble. Especially when one of the ‘royals’ still think of the old ways as well. And with all the changes, the Northern Pack is certain war is on the horizon. And Alpha Donovan is proof that things are changing. As a bounty hunter for the Southern Pack, he’s been sent to find an omega who ran from home. But when he gets to the Northern pack, he has no clue how wrong about things he was. He tries his darnedest to get the omega to come back, thinking she’s not where she should be, but he’s learning from her, that he’s the one in the wrong and it’s ok to be different. And if it means that he wants another alpha as his mate, then that’s what he should have. But his upbringing is fighting hard against it. No matter how much he wants Tarek. But between Tarek, Carmen, and the others in this pack, he’s learning that the old ways are wrong and he wants to be a part of this new life. Where he’s finally free to be who he’s meant to be and free to love who he wants to. But the punk Prince is up to no good as usual and tries to twist Donovan’s words and actions into something bad. And now Donovan has to make things right with everyone before he loses all he’s finally gained.
OH, how I wish Prince Angel would take his brother out. I’m so ready for him to be gone, or for someone to give him what he deserves. It’s his way of thinking that keeps other packs still antiquated. People don’t like change, most don’t anyway. They drag their feet and do anything possible to keep it from happening. Especially older ones who are set in their ways, or morons like Angel’s brother, who try to use their alphaness and such to take advantage of those who are ‘beneath them’. In their thinking, anyway. Everyone should be on equal footing and I’m happy to see the Northern pack sticking to the newer ways. Even though everyday is an uphill battle, they refuse to cower to anyone wanting to change it. And I’m happy to see that Donovan has gotten to see it. To see that what he wants isn’t wrong. To see that he can be happy somewhere with someone he truly wants and not have to be ashamed because he’s an alpha submitting to another one. It’s not wrong as long as they both are happy, and believe me, they both are. Yes, Donovan is making some mistakes. It’s bound to happen. He’s had years of the old ways drummed into his head. It’s not going to change overnight. But as long as he keeps trying and seeing that the new ways are better, than eventually he will get all that his heart desires.
This is a great series. I can’t wait to see what’s next. I’m hoping soon someone will take Angel’s brother down. In one form or another. I’d love to see an omega wipe the floor with him. THAT would be hilarious. But you guys should read this series. It’s a good one.

This was kind of the entry in this little porn-with-a-smidgen-of-plot series I had been waiting for. Tanya Chris is basically going down the list of unconventional a/b/o pairing with these books and Alpha/Alpha is one of my favorites. The smut is absolutely to curling - no surprise there.

As always with this series I'm still not happy with some of the world-building decisions Chris made but at this point I just skim over that and enjoy the hot sex scenes. I would just really prefer this being set in a *real* modern setting and not this pseudo wolf-society set apart from human society where people run around half-naked and seem to not know how a coffee machine works sometimes...

That's why only 3,5 stars. But if you're into a/b/o this is absolutely worth a read.

Omega Replaced
By Tanya Chris

When Alpha Donovan is paid to bring back a runaway omega to her family he comes head to head with his darkest secret. He's an Alpha who is only interested in other Alpha's and Alpha Tarek is quickly becoming the only Alpha he wants. However, their views differ on whether omegas have a right to choose who they wish to mate with and that may just end their relationship before it truly starts.

This was a good story. I liked Tarek and Donovan. There was very little angst. The make-up after their first and only obstacle was much to quick and easy though.

The book is only in Donovan's POV.

Yes yes and effing yes! This book was exactly what I needed.

I love this universe and it's so exciting to see all the different pairings fall in love. In this case we got two alpha, and holy moly, it was really hot!

It was good to see Donovan's change and how cool everything was when he got to his senses and accepted what he really is and what he wants. I love the North Leland pack ♥ everyone is kind with the newbies.

My favorite scenes still those when they shift into wolf. And Donovan with Tarek was really cute and hot! Tarek was so gentle with Donovan, and not so gentle when it came to sex. They were perfect together, Tarek handled Donovan so well. And Donovan learned so many new things about himself and being the wolf who he wants to be. I loved that scene when he went to the library! And bought all the porn stuff LOL. It was really cute!

And the sex between two alpha wolf.... SCORCHING HOT! Loooooved it. Especially the biting and the knotting. OMG the knotting!!! Good god, it was perfect.

This book was so so good. I was going to say that this is my favorite from the series, but... just a really close second! Benjy and JT still the cutest. But I oh so much love this series! And highly recommend it.

Another good installment in this series, this time with an alpha from a more conservative pack trying (and of course failing) to fight his attraction and desire to submit to another alpha. Donovan was definitely an asshole at times, but I very much enjoyed his character development and growth as he was exposed to an environment that accepted his desires as natural and where acting on that part of himself was actually possible. And as expected, there's lots of good emotional angst.

alpha x alpha werewolf MM romance

Story was set in some medieval-like primal wolf society alongside modern humans that I didn’t like as much and I almost dnf but since it’s so rare to find a novel with alpha/alpha pairing I continued reading.

I was hoping for clash of alphas but one was far more domineering than the other. While I don’t mind alpha submitting to another (hello that’s the whole thrill) I wanted a more prolonged angst filled process with equal power push pull between them.

The book was more about alphahood meaning, personal identity, freedom of expression with societal expectations and potential implications.

Donovan was an alpha on the outside but not fully inside. He was a very closeted sub and that’s just not my vibe when it comes to alpha/alpha trope. Though it was hot when he begged as alpha (fucking demanding) and wanted to be taken by real alpha, not pretend substitute.

Spice was ok with strong D/s dynamics (over-submission, humiliation and pain kinks weren’t for me though).

I wish it was dual POV, I wanted to hear Tarek’s thoughts too but reading between lines, it was kinda cute how smitten he was with Donovan who wasn’t the most wholesome narrator but I liked his inner snark and sarcasm.

“I was on the other side this time—the hunted, not the hunter. I didn’t know how that made me feel.
Wanted, maybe.
Scared, a little.
Home, mostly.”

“A lifetime of secrets meant never allowing myself to be vulnerable.”

“I do have a preference, and you’re it.”

𝗢𝗺𝗲𝗴𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 is told from Donovan's POV  and I absolutely adored him. At the beginning he was so arrogant, so righteous of his opinions, holding strong onto his convictions of everyone's place in society. Boy, was he in for a shattering experience!

I felt sorry for the guy. His particular needs would never have been accepted in his home pack, and sadly, the deeply ingrained mental conditioning done by his upbringing prevented him from accepting that he could actually have everything he's ever dreamed of. Northern Pack laws would of allowed him the unique chance to be his true self, but shame and fear of judgment stopped him from seizing the freedom of choice. I was sorry to see how conflicted he felt. He has found Tarek, a domineering alpha, who had a special way to make Donovan feel week and strong at the same time, ready to try every and each of Donovan's kinky whims and also capable of showing tenderness and understanding... the only alpha for Donovan, once he opened his mind and heart.

𝗢𝗺𝗲𝗴𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 is an amazing addition to the Omega Reimagined series. I love the way Tanya Chris writes these unconventional shifters, with unconventional needs and desires, and eventually helps them find the pefects homes for themselves, where they can finally feel like they belong. Just like Donovan and Tarek. Two alphas in love and happy, in the face or norms and contradictions.

Recommended.

This is a great addition to the Omega Reimagined series and I really enjoyed it. Omega Replaced is well written, intense, super sexy, gritty, I love the characters and the storyline is intriguing. Donovan has a lot to learn when he gets to North Leland to retrieve a missing omega. He is shocked when he sees so many pairings that are absolutely not allowed in his own pack and as he always thought his attraction to other alphas was wrong he has a lot to think about. Tarek is a wonderful alpha who is perfect for Donovan but the issues they face may be more than either of them can deal with. Their relationship develops very quickly and I wish that they had spent a bit more time together out of bed but they do have an instant connection and sizzling hot chemistry. Donovan struggles with his feelings for Tarek but it is more about the pack he was raised in than Tarek himself. He has to decide what he really wants if they are going to have a chance for a wonderful life together. It's great to see how well some of the couples from the previous books are doing and I love the ending. I can't wait to read more books in this exciting series.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Alpha Donovan, set in his ways. Believing the world is as he has always believed. Unsafe for Omega's,who need rescuing and taking back to their families and or Alpha's.
Alpha Donovan, ashamed of his desire to be dominated by another Alpha, lives out his fantasies in human territory, where nobody knows him.
Alpha Donovan, accepting an easy job, collect one, lonely, scared Omega and return her home.
But, this job is far from easy.
Upon arrival, the gorgeous Alpha,Judge Tarek, refuses to entertain Donovan's wish to take the Omega he has been hired to collect.
Determined to complete his job, Donovan stays, in the hopes of persuading the Omega to return home with him. By doing so,he has caught the eye of Tarek, who openly offers everything Donovan desires.
Dive in to find out if Donovan accepts the things he can't change, and find out if he is Alpha enough to accept all that Tarek is offering.
I loved this book, even though I thought Donovan was a jerk in the beginning, and I am more than happy to recommend it. This is best read as part of the Omega Reimagined series but, can also be read as a standalone story.
This is the second book in this series that I have read and I will definitely be reading the books that came before this and any more that follow this.

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:
A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series
from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year),
it's like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok)
It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the
whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

Tanya Chris delivered a solid and well thought out addition to her Omega Reimagined series. As always, I loved the refreshing originality. I also appreciate how Tanya Chris is able to layer a story with important topics while keeping an interesting storyline. One never overtakes the other.

I thought the character development was good. I appreciated how Donovan grew as a character and the path Tanya Chris took him down. It was realistic and I enjoyed seeing the other characters. The BDSM aspects were extremely hot. The world-building in this story is flawless – one of my absolute favorites.

I feel the storyline presentation could have been a little stronger. While I can understand why it was just Donovan’s POV, I think adding in a second POV would have made it more engrossing, at least for me. I missed that layer of complexity. With that being said, there is nothing truly missing from this story. It’s a great addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next one. I’m still fully invested to see where the author goes.

4.5 stars for an original and solid read.

This is a fantastic addition to the “Omega Reimagined” series & this intensely, intriguing MM wolf shifter romance can be read as a standalone. It has strong well-paced, interesting plot with some unusual situations/events with some good scenes descriptions & world building. In particular, I liked the character development of “Donovan Sandstone, a alpha bounty hunter” who seems to have a more rigid & arrogant outlook on the alpha/omega scenario & the emotional issues involved when he becomes involved with another alpha (Judge Tarek) naturally there is some insecurities & doubts as these two continue to develop throughout the story-line.
There is: wolf shifters, various wolf packs/territories, omegas, alphas, humans, traditions, alpha/omega issues, an Omega Rights Coalitions, traditions, some humor, drama, intrigue, secrets, prejudices, disagreements, confrontations, disagreements, frustrations, loneliness, self-esteem issues, vulnerability, doubts, attractions, jealousy, assumptions, hearings, apologies, advice, contentment, steamy scenes & a satisfying conclusion.

Pursue your own preference: great philosophy for a 💦steamy coupling💦

👍👍🔥🐺Another hot and boundaries-stretching shifter romance by one of my favorite writers in the genre. Donovan is a wolf shifter who's too ashamed of his desires, which he sees as unnatural, to reveal them to other shifters. He believes there's no place for openness, fulfillment and acceptance for him in wolf shifter society. His visit to North Leland, in a territory that has embraced diversity and freedom of choice, offers him a taste of forbidden delights, a strong and willing partner, and a revised outlook on his future. It's a great standalone story with no cliffhangers and brings back some of the main protagonists from earlier stories in the series who remained in North Leland.

Just a caution - Donovan likes his share of pain🤕. Good thing shifters heal so quickly!

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book supplied by the author through StoryOrigin; this is my voluntary and honest review.

My, oh my, Donovan and Tarek are hot, hot, hot. This series has explored several different mixes of alpha, beta, and omega, and this time, we get a pair of alphas who have so much chemistry between them that they have to be made for each other. We do, of course, get a bit of angst for our sexy alphas to overcome, but it's shortlived, and for the most part, this one is just off the charts sexy with a bit of D/s play. I love that Tanya Chris has taken what I usually see in an omegaverse and twisted it to fit different types of characters who don't follow the caste rules. Each story focuses on a different relationship, but characters do pop in and out and there's an underlying storyline with a bit of intrigue that feels like it may be nearing a conclusion. Even with that continuing storyline, the author does give us enough information so that each book can be read as a standalone. That said, once you've met any of these terrific characters, you'll want to know them all.

I continue to enjoy every book in this series, although I feel like this one was just a tad but less satisfying than the others. Binging the full series back-to-back sort of makes up for that, but it still felt a bit rushed, especially at the end. It's also definitely one I would have liked dual POV for, although admittedly Tarek didn't have any character growth of his own, so I guess I can see why the author chose to omit his POV (also possibly a contributing factor to the less-satisying-read quality of this one.) Starting with the"climactic" confrontation where onward, the story just felt compressed, rushed. and too easy. None of what should have been big emotional moments actually felt that way. I still enjoyed it, though. Again, partially a factor of reading the series back-to-back and already being immersed in the world, with all the side characters' quirks and backstories fresh in my memory.

Omega Replaced was a hot little story based in the ABO universe about two alphas. Donovan is a bounty hunter looking for a wayward omega and Judge Tarek is the alpha in his way. I love shifter stories and have a particular guilty pleasure for abo stories. When I read that it was about two alphas- I could hardly put it down. This is a sexy hot story. I really enjoyed Donovan’s conflicted feelings about his relationship with fellow alpha Tarek. Tarek was an awesome foil for Donovan - confident, decisive and sure. I could have definitely enjoyed several more chapters in this story. I was sad to see it end! I recommend this to anyone who loves shifter stories. While it is a book in a series it can be read as a stand-alone. I will be going back to read the rest!

I was given this arc in an exchange for a honest review.

Alpha seeking Alpha…

Tarek and Donovan are an unlikely couple, both being Alphas. In the Northern Pack there have been a lot of changes lately, making them very different from the other packs. That overarching plotline has continued in this book, along with the story of Tarek and Donovan. Donovan has effectively been in the closet all his life about preferring other alphas. When he finally gets what he wants, he finds that there are a lot of changes he has to make to get to keep it.

I love Tanya Chris’ writing – it’s very smooth, flowing, and easy to read. In this series I really enjoy the way the characters interact, the great chemistry, the recurring supporting characters, the humor, and the emotional tone of the books.

Donovan tried to be a traditionalist when it came to how Alpha and omegas should act, but inside he was struggling with his own battles. Donovan’s struggle not only with accepting who he really was, but that it was ok for two Alphas to be together. Tarek was sweet about the whole situation and I like how he tried helping Donovan open up to the idea of the two of them being together.

This story kept my interest the entire time. I really enjoyed the writing style and all the characters. I loved getting to see the couples from previous stories. The drama is light but well played out. Overall, I really enjoyed this story just as I have the rest in this series.

Another interesting couple in the world of North Leland, where the citizens may live according to their most intimate nature without prejudices and sure to find new friends and protection against outside forces. This book is written from Donovan’s POV, but Tarek’s behaviour and words give sufficient indication of his personality. There is a little bit more kink that in the previous books, and though Angel and Leo (the MCs of the first book) do not appear, almost all the other side characters and MCs have their say in Donovan’s acceptance of his desires and self discovery. A very enjoyable read.

I love the way the author expands on and mixes up the stereotypical alpha/beta/omega dynamics, and I love the way she challenges her characters to reach beyond what society says they can be to what they really feel they are...or could be. I loved the realization Donovan had - that he WAS an alpha and therefore could do WHATEVER he wanted. Sometimes facing your fear of what others think and what they expect can be the most daunting challenge of all. I loved this book, and I am really looking forward to the next one and seeing if Devin finally, FINALLY, gets what he deserves. I feel sorry for Marta.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Two alphas

Like the other "omega reimagined" stories, this one has lots of yummy sex. The couple in this one is alpha/alpha. There's a tenderness between them that is stronger in impact on me as a reader because their relationship is more equitable. It reminded me of Angel and Leo (the 1st story). I loved Carmen's role in this and, as usual, it was nice to see how our old friends were doing, though I miss Owen/Keesh/Fortis (they stayed in the Central Park territory in the last story). I really got a kick out of seeing all Donovan's beliefs getting shredded by each person he encountered!

Following along in this series has been a delight. Our heroes here are bold enough to push against the accepted and make their own way. I enjoyed the characters not only because they had the courage to stand up but because they did so boldly, though Donovan was a tad reluctant at first. His strength grew and watching that along with his change of heart, when he relished his error, was a beautiful thing. Terrific characters, strong storyline that abolishes the idea of bigotry and a warm HEA that brings harmony to our heroes. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

A story of growth and change in an individual and, eventually, a culture. Freedom of choice, living your truth as you see it, unfettered by laws or society or fear. One choice and you're safe; a different choice and you're free. For a story written relatively simply it resonated with deep themes. The alphas who found each other were examples of courage. One secure in his chosen lifestyle; one seeking what he couldn't even define. I received an ARC for an honest review and I highly recommend this book.

Alpha to Alpha love. Northern pack is an awesome haven for all castes. Sent to retrieve an omega to the Southern pack, Donovan has found a set of different laws. I loved that scene with Lars and Shade, but Tarek has eyes only of Donovan. Will the two of them be the newest item in town? Carmen comes in this book as the omega to be retrieved and I like getting to know her a little better. I can’t get enough of the series!

Disclaimer, I was asked to beta read this book by Tanya. I received a free copy, and now give my honest opinion.

I really quite like this. I've not read any of the preceding books, weirdly enough. But it didn't feel super necessary to do that. I really liked seeing an omegaverse book that explored different dynamics, and defying the stereotypes of what an omega or an alpha should be. Plus, it was very steamy, and the steam was well done!

I loved when Carmen called Donovan out on his truth! Tables are turned, and food for thought! Donovan was tenacious, but failed to respect the union Carmen had made and wanted to keep! Not liking Donovan's motives at all!!!! Lots of life lessons and self truths learned in time. Inspirational! Loved it.
