Heroes, giants, wizards, true love. Celebrate the beloved film with this charming counting primer that fans will want to share with the youngest readers.
There are 6 fingers on the Count's right hand, 3 outlaws on a mission, 2 destined lovers, and 1 unforgettable story that brings them all together. Illustrated with vibrant art, this adorable counting book is the ultimate gift for fans of The Princess Bride to share with the toddlers in their life or give as a gift to fellow fans. It's inconceivable that anyone wouldn't love this charming book!
The illustrations are BEAUTIFUL. Definitely worth reading just for those.
About half the counting things are a stretch (five dresses), but the other half are so clever (six fingers!!). My niece loves the big printed numbers that are good to trace.
I bought this for Christmas for my four-year-old daughter who is in LOVE with The Princess Bride (can't blame her, as it was my favourite film when I was her age!). This book is great for older toddlers learning their numbers from 1-10, helping them learn with wonderful characters from the beloved story. An excellent, fun learning book!
The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies, so my husband and I knew we had to get this book for our little one. It was fun to read with her and we made it as interactive as possible to keep her engaged.
A copy of this book was kindly provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
The Princess Bride: A Counting Story was so cute! I never would have thought to turn this cult classic into a counting book for kids…but you know what? It makes sense! The Princess Bride is one of my faves, and I’ve been thinking here and there about how and when I could introduce it to my kids (once I have them).
This primer was very simple: “1 story, 2 lovers, 3 outlaws.” The fun for parents is again in adding in the details. There are “9 animals” but as the child gets older and begins to learn their numbers, they could count out 3 shrieking eels, 2 ROUs, and 4 white horses. The story ends with “10 kisses” which I imagine a parent giving a child as the book closes.
Love the idea of using The Princess Bride in board books and the numbers and coordinating representations were great. I do wish you could see the fingers on the 6 fingered man better, and i do wish there was just a little added blurb for each number explaining the representations. Like: buttercup dreamed of an old lady who said BOO 8 times. Just helps the parent out a little when they are reading it for the millionth time.
My four-year-old has basically memorized the characters, events, and situations in The Princess Bride from multiple reads of this book and has not yet seen the film.
The art is solid and the nostalgia is strong. My son loves every book, so his review is always the same: "It's my favrite!"
I'm a fan and I hope he'll love the film when he is old enough to watch it.
I absolutely love The Princess Bride and grew up watching the movie with my dad. It was fun to quickly revisit the story of The Princess Bride in this little board book that teaches children how to count.
This book is actually so well thought out and illustrated. A really fast read - so it’s good for kids who like a greater ratio of pictures to words. It’s obviously great for youngsters learning to count but also for fans of the novel/movie!
A counting book for children and adults, this simple board book captures the heart and soul of the original book by William Goldman and the film by Rob Reiner. A fun game: Guess what each number will represent before turning the page!
This fun board book has characters from the Princess Bride movie. Older fans of the movie could read this to children and share general concepts about it.
Just the cutest counting book with such great illustrations. It doesn’t tell the story of ‘The Princess Bride,’ but it makes counting fun and is a simple introduction to the characters.
It is my favorite movie....and Kellen seems to love to have me read it...a cute glimpse into the story and plenty of fun things to count like the "8 jeers"....Booo!
