Olivia Longray, born September 06, 1980, is а journalist and author who loves her family and the surrounding world. Perceives life as a gift given to us for self-improvement, creative work and growing in love.

Books have always been a big part of my life. As a kid, I cherished a dream about becoming a librarian or a journalist. I grew up, got a degree in journalism, started to work as a reporter in the news agency, was an editor and a TV producer. After my baby boy arrived, I tried to write a children’s book. The writing process filled me with immense (overwhelming) joy and true sense of artistic self-expression. Then came a book for grown-ups. It was the story of the weigh-loss journey of my husband that marked the start of a healthy life for our family. Now I feel blessed that I have my family, our morning jogging and healthy meals, travels and this big amazing world.

‘The monsters finally lay down to sleep. Their little beds were hidden under the tongue’

Ukrainian author Vira Vovchuk (aka Olivia Longray) achieved her degree in journalism and worked as a reporter and produced a TV show. Having a baby provided the opportunity to view the world through the eyes of children and now she writes children’s books for the entertainment and education of the little ones.

LITTLE MONSTERS, IT’S TIME TO GO TO BED is Olivia’s latest children’s book and it is beautifully illustrated by Kristina Davtian and translated by Jonathan Mahoney.

Betsy has played with her toy bear and doll all day and, being tired, knows it is time to go to bed. Betsy’s mother admonishes her that they must first pt the monsters to bed – Betsy an her toys thought there were no monster’s among them, but mother says they are the bacteria that live in our mouths and inside Betsy’s mouth the monsters Toothy and Mouthy are in full play. Mother explains her own monsters are asleep because she brushed with minty flavored toothpaste. Betsy’s mouth monsters are happy because of al the candy and sweets and foods they had to play with in Betsy’s mouth. Betsy’s mother warns that the monsters will create cavities in her teeth if they are not put to sleep. To prevent that, Betsy and her mother brush Betsy’s teeth and then use dental floss to get the monster’s hiding behind and between her teeth. With the monsters now asleep Betsy hugs her mom and goes to sleep, too.

By making the idea of dental hygiene a fun sport with bacteria in the mouth children can enjoy the process of brushing and flossing before bed. This is a very fine children’s book on all levels – entertaining, imaginative and educational. Just what we are growing to expect from all of Olivia’s books.

Betsy tucked her bear & doll into their beds.

Heh mom/dad how do you put your kid’s little monsters to bed.

I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn black & white or colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary; MS/HS age) teeth hygiene storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational presentation (mouth/teeth care) movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

Betsy is getting ready for bed. She has already tucked in her doll and teddy bear. Betsy's mom reminds her to put the monsters to sleep. When Betsy asks, "What monsters,?" her mother explains how bacteria hide in the mouth and must be brushed and flossed away, to prevent cavities and tooth decay.

This is a short book to explain the importance of proper dental hygiene for preschoolers and primary grade children who don't see the importance or necessity of brushing their teeth. Recommended for parents and teachers of children ages three through seven.

When my second oldest was a toddler he saw the commercial about how the tooth-monster can attack teeth that aren't brushed. I never had to remind him to brush his teeth. That was an effective commercial for him. This book would have had the same effect for him and probably lots of children who might be reluctant to dental hygiene.

The pictures are delightful. The fantasy goes a bit too far but it just gives the readers more pictures to enjoy and there is plenty of room for discussion about tooth care.

This is a very cute way to teach children the importance of brushing their teeth. The illustrations were bright and cheerful. The message is one every parent will love to read to their children. Children will rush to brush their teeth after reading this book to put their own little monsters to bed.
