Author Annie Rains has hit another one out of the park. It’s Christmas and it is the season of joy. The season for Joy Benson and Granger Fields.
After a gut-wrenching breakup, Joy is on the road to emotional recovery. Joy, a somewhat successful artist, teaches art classes. Two of her students are the daughters of Granger Fields — a local Christmas tree farmer. Granger, too, has had his share of heartbreak when his wife packed up her bags and left him and his two daughters seven years prior. On the mend, Granger finds himself attracted to Joy. But are they both “damaged goods”? Can Granger and Joy move forward from their pasts?
Season of Joy is a wonderful Christmas romance that will have you cozying up next to the fireplace with hot cocoa and a warm blanket. You will laugh and cry as you follow the paths of Joy and Granger in their quest for happiness and love. Five stars. I loved it.
I received a paperback copy of the book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing.) The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
Thank you Forever for my copy, all opinions are my own.
Welp, it is official. I will follow Annie to the ends of the earth for cozy Romance. I adore her so. . This was another fantastic installment of the Sweetwater Springs series. Granger and Joy were delightful. I loved coming back for Christmas 🎄. The town did not disappoint. I love how toward the end of this series I feel like they are family. Just good fun. . I will continue recommending this series to anyone who will listen to me 🤣.
Season of Joy is a cosy, heartwarming, enchanting read set in the quaint town of Sweetwater Springs that takes us into the lives of two main characters. Joy Benson, a young art teacher determined to open her own art studio and prove once and for all that art can be a worthy career, and Granger Fields, a single father of two whose main focus is raising his two daughters and making sure his family’s tree farm is profitable after a recent fire has decimated their inventory.
The prose is amusing and light. The characters are hardworking, wary, and thoughtful. And the plot is a delightful blend of tender moments, friendship, family, community, self-discovery, merry preparations, and of course a touch of romance!
Overall, Season of Joy is a festive, atmospheric, uplifting treat that will have you believing in the magic of Christmas and looking forward to sleigh rides, decorated trees, twinkling lights, holiday crafts, and steaming mugs of apple cider.
Thank you to Forever and Grand Central Publishing for providing me with a copy in an exchange for an honest review.
Season of Joy was a sweet and cute holiday read. It was a light, easy, and entertaining with likable characters and fun scenes.
I liked Granger and Joy and enjoyed their building attraction. I liked that there were kids in the mix and thought they were sweet, I enjoyed what they brought to the story. It was an easy read for the most part with some really good scenes mixed in and sweet things happening, but it was all very light. It was fun and flirty with a nice slow burn happening.
Overall, I liked it, but didn’t feel fully connected and occasionally felt like I was missing details while reading. It wasn’t overly descriptive but there was enough to keep me interested. There was very light drama and angst, mostly it's just good clean fun. Bottom line, I liked it but didn’t love it but it had some really enjoyable qualities that kept me invested. A feel-good story for sure!
We all know that there is nothing I like better than small-town romance. Add Christmas into the mix and I'm one happy camper.
I've been loving Sweetwater Springs and all those who live here. I've been waiting for Granger's story and couldn't wait for it. I will admit single dads with young kids is a turn on for me. I just love them.
Granger is a single dad with two young girls. I love the way he handles them. He's so sweet with his girls and you see how much they love him. I felt sorry for the two little girls through what with their mom leaving when they were young and having nothing to do with them.
I also really liked Joy. I loved how she is with Granger's daughters. She is very good with them. You won't be able to not feel bad for her when you learn about her relationship with her parents. They aren't as close as it seems Joy needed.
Both of them have their own issues that seem to be a good reason why they shouldn't be together. I liked how they worked them out and decided to try and be together. They really worked it was them that didn't see it.
This is a wonderful story that will bring you such great holiday cheer. You will find yourself smiling often as you read it. Season of Joy is the perfect story to read curled up on your couch with the lights of the Christmas tree shining bright.
I just adore the Sweetwater Springs series and always look forward to a new book, and when it’s a Christmas book it’s even better! As always you can read any book in the series on its own but I recommend all six if you’re looking to fall in love with this sweet little town and it’s residents.
I’ve longed for a book about Granger for awhile now so I was delighted we finally got to get to know more about the single father in town. I’m beginning to realize that I love that trope, I think it’s the cute kids alongside a swoon worthy hero and Granger basically had it all for me. He’s a great dad and his family owns a Christmas tree farm, SWOON. I really liked Joy as well, she was relatable and sweet. I love how the author brings depth to her characters without going too dark, she manages to discuss some difficult issues without losing the lightness this series is based on and this was no exception. This also had plenty of Christmas fun and festivity, basically everything I want in a holiday romance!
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever Pub for the complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Seasons of Joy by Annie Rains is fun Christmas romance perfect for the season. Joy Benson is an artist whose dream it is to open her own art gallery. She has managed to make a living through selling her work on Etsy and teaching art lessons but she has more ambitious long term goals. Granger is a single father with a Christmas tree farm struggling to recover financially from a fire that destroyed a lot of tree stock. Granger loses his nanny during that pivotal Christmas season and asks Joy to step in as a replacement nanny, or rather art teacher. And so begins our romance.
With Christmas trees, crafty art projects, small town atmosphere, and great cast of characters, Seasons of Joy is a fun holiday read. I loved the setting of the Christmas tree farm and the various activities they had going on there. Granger's two daughters are adorable as well.
If you are fan of small town Christmas romance this would be a great pick. If you are fan of steam, this title is definitely a fade into black romance.
If you are looking for a book set during Christmas with all fun and festivities along with a chance at love after a heartbreak then Season of Joy by Annie Rains is for you. This is the sixth book in the Sweetwater Springs series but can be read as a standalone.
Granger is a Christmas tree farmer and single dad to daughters Abby and Willow (9 and 7 years old respectively). Joy Benson is Abby and Willow’s art teacher who dreams to own her art gallery in the town. Christmas is the busiest and most profitable time of the year but this year the farm is struggling financially because of the fire that did some serious damage to the farm. With the kids’ nanny retiring without any notice, Joy steps up to take care of his daughters and also helps him in organizing Christmas tree workshops on the farm to retain some customers.
At first, Granger and Joy are both careful not to let on their feelings for each other because they don’t want to face another heartbreak. But the heart wants what it wants and they give themselves a second chance at love and relationship.
With a lot of artsy projects for kids and elders, Christmas festivities, amazing characters, and a small-town vibe this is an amazing book for holidays.
Thank you @readforeverpub for hosting the read-along for this book.
Season of Joy by Annie Rains 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 419 pages 🎄MY REVIEW🎄 Wow !!!! What a great story this was from start to finish. So get a blanket , snack , and a drink and be prepared to read this in one sitting because you will not be able to put it down.I stayed up all night just to finish it. This is the story of Single father and Christmas tree farmer Granger Fields and Joy Benson a artist who is counting down the days until she can open her own art gallery. I loved every minute of their love story. Annie Rains brings these characters to life in such an amazing way. They are an amazing couple and so perfect together. They immediately capture your heart. I loved the growth that the characters made with all of the baggage from the past they had overcome. Although this is part of a series, and a wonderful addition to it Season of Joy can definitely be read as a standalone book. However, after reading this one, you will want to go back and read all of the other books in the series. If you love stories that draw you in and make you feel every emotion in the book, then you need to add this book to your list. If you’re looking for a sweet romance set at Christmas about finding love after loss, look no further. Annie Rains brings us a book that captures the Christmas spirit perfectly.
Single father Granger Fields lives and works on his family’s Merry Mountain tree farm with his two young daughters. His parents live in a separate home on the property and have helped provide child care to his children in addition to an after school nanny who has suddenly retired. Granger’s wife left the family seven years ago and he’s learned to move on with his life. That is, until his sudden need for after school care.
Joy Benson is a struggling artist with a dream to open her own shop. She enjoys teaching classes in the community, and has made a living selling some of her art work. When Granger approaches her about providing after school care for his daughters, she declines noting that she is no longer a nanny and only wishes to pursue her art. After some reconsideration and an examination of her current financial status, she creatively suggests that she could provide private art classes to the girls after school. She wouldn’t mind seeing Granger more often, and could use the money to help lease a shop she has her eye on in town which would be perfect for her art classes and studio. Although both Granger and Joy have been hurt by their previous relationships, over time the friendship blossoms into romance and the two learn to trust again. But it wouldn’t be a romance novel without some turmoil. In this case, it’s Granger’s estranged wife who suddenly returns unannounced. Will this change everything between Granger and Joy?
I enjoyed this cozy Christmas story. It is full of good will, a caring community with likeable characters, and family love. The story was easy to read and engaging. I appreciated the level of character development of the protagonists, and loved the resilience of the characters despite obstacles that needed to be overcome. This is the perfect holiday book to read curled up with a blanket or next to a fire with a cup of hot chocolate or cider.

[ I received a copy for an honest review] Season of Joy is a new stand alone in Annie Rains Sweetwater Springs series. A single parent Christmas romance just right for the holiday season.
Last Christmas Joy had her heartbroken and isn't looking to repeat that feeling anytime soon. She chooses to ignore the little crush she has on single dad off two girls, Granger Fields. When he offers her an arrangement that will have her essentially being a nanny to the girls but allowing her to reach her goals as an artist she can't give up on the opportunity. The situation has them spending a lot of time together and getting to know each other causing both their crushes to grow. When their hearts get involved with they both end up hurt when the kids get involved and pasts become present. Season of Joy was a sweet holiday romance. Joy is an artist to her core, loving and caring in all she does. Granger is a hardworking father who is trying to keep his family's business alive and still be there for his two girls. There are plenty are heartwarming moments between Joy and the girls and swoony moments between Joy and Granger. However, things are far from perfect for them. Granger's daughter doesn't take too kindly to Joy replacing her mother, Joy's trust issues have her thinking the worst, and Granger's so out of practice when it comes to women that he repeatedly says the wrong thing. Both adults in the story are trust issues when it comes to relationships that they both have to overcome for them to even have a chance at something lasting. "call me selfish, but I want more. I'm not sure if I'll ever get enough of you."
If you like you holiday romances low of the steam , high on the sweet, and with a good dose of complicated then Season of Joy by Annie Rains will be worth the read.
Joy is an artist (not a starving artist, mind you) looking for the perfect place to open a gallery while teaching art, creating art, and volunteering. But two of her students have a handsome single father... and that's all we really need to say ;)
Things I like about this book: - Joy knew her self-worth. She didn't let anyone tell her she wasn't an artist, couldn't make a living as an artist, or needed another job. She didn't do favors just because a guy was cute, and she didn't let him get away with being an occasional @$$. - I love the setting! Our male lead is a Christmas tree farmer. Could we HAVE a better holiday romance profession? I picture the Brawny Paper Towel guy... with a pine scent... - The family diversity in this book is great. We have Joy's relationship with her absent doctor parents, and then Joy's aunt finding love after a life of chosen singledom. Then we have single dad Graham, whose wife left him, and his basically perfect parents. Lots of examples of different types of families!
Things that I wish were different: - Graham just could not keep screwing up. Every time he a Joy took one step forward he would do something to make them take two steps back. I get it--there has to be a hurdle, or we wouldn't have a book. But Graham's behavior bordered on annoying, and I was hesitant to give him chance after chance. - I didn't understand why these characters were getting together NOW. They had lived in the same town for years. Graham's wife left seven years prior. They had known each other for months before the story started. I just could have used more of an explanation or plot shift.
Overall, this is an adorable feel-good Christmas read. If you love small town romances, holiday cheer, and single dads this is definitely a good choice.
4 starts - 7/10

A play on words with the heroine's name, Season of Joy is the sixth book in the Sweetwater Springs series but can be read as a standalone. They're all great so no matter which one you chose you'll have a good time😛
When his nanny retire without notice because of health problems, single dad and tree farmer Granger Fields try to convince arts&crafts teacher Joy Benson to accept the job.
But Joy already have projects that take all her time. Her biggest one is to open her own shop and gallery. But something happen that makes her realize how much help he needs, so she agree to take care of his daughters until Christmas, as long as it involve art.
They've both been burned by love before so can they trust the attraction they feel and what their heart are trying to tell them?
This book will make you wish for your own private hayrides and crave hot chocolate.
Thank you to Forever Publishing for a complimentary copy of this book.
My first holiday romance of the season and it was wonderful!
Joy Benson is a somewhat struggling artist. She would like to open an art gallery in town, but barely has enough money to keep her car running. She teaches art classes at the community center where Granger Fields, a single father, brings his two girls.
When Granger is in need of childcare help, he asks Joy to step in and help through the holidays. She does as she adores Abby and Willow and is starting to have feelings for Granger, too. This was such a heartwarming read. A feel good romance if there ever was one.
While reading this, I figured out that it was part of a series, but this can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed everything about this single father, closed door romance.
What a sweet & moving Christmas story in Sweetwater Springs. I have loved Granger in all the previous books in the series, how hard he works with his parents on their Christmas tree farm as well as raising his 2 little girls by himself. I was so happy when Granger & Joy started spending time together. Joy had so much fun giving his daughters art lessons which helped her as she was dealing with a painful past. It was also fun catching up with other characters.
This was a good read overall. It had some extra fluff or filler in it that the reader didn't really need to understand the story, but otherwise it was a good Christmas book that filled the reader with some Christmas cheer. A good read, don't hesitate to add it to your TBR list and give it a whirl.
Season of Joy is the 6th book in the Sweetwater Springs series by Annie Rains, and my favorite book to date. It was such a delight to read. It was sweet without being sappy; heartfelt and romantic without being graphic or cringy. It was richly atmospheric, set amongst the wintery forest of a Christmas tree farm with all the festive holiday activities in place to make the season bright. Mistletoe in abundance, sleigh rides, visits with Santa, hot cider and crafty projects made me want to transport myself to this quaint North Carolinian town.
This story showcased a supportive, kind family, two adorable little girls, a multitude of pets and two good-hearted, but somewhat wounded protagonists. One is a working/teaching artist trying to forge her own way after heartbreak, and the other is a family owned tree farmer and single father. I was caught up in the storyline and valued the important messages of forgiveness when one learns life’s hard lessons and being brave and stepping out in faith to pursue your dreams.
This story had thoughtful, intelligent characters, a nicely paced plot, worthwhile lessons and enough substance to keep me enthralled throughout. It was exactly what I need to set the mood for this holiday season!
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A thoroughly enjoyable Christmas romance! The townspeople were charming, the main characters lovely, and the Christmas tree farm setting magical. This was everything a reader loves in a Christmas book! It was feel good, festive, and absolutely joyful! I loved this book and the smile it left on my face. I was rooting for the main characters throughout and found them to be completely relatable. Highly recommend if you love Christmas books! My thanks to the publisher for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review.
3.75 stars--SEASON OF JOY is the sixth instalment in Annie Rains contemporary, adult SWEETWATER SPRINGS romance series focusing on the people of Sweetwater Springs. This is thirty-one year old, tree farmer and single father Granger Fields, and thirty year old, artist Joy Benson’s story line. SEASON OF JOY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Joy and Granger) SEASON OF JOY follows the building romance and relationship between thirty-one year old, Christmas tree farmer and single father Granger Fields, and thirty year old, artist Joy Benson. The Merry Mountain Tree Farm is struggling in the wake of a devastating fire and a low inventory for the upcoming holiday season. When his nanny suddenly quits, Granger Fields is desperate enough that he asks his friend, and art teacher Joy Benson to help until the end of the holidays but Joy doesn’t want to be a nanny-been there ,done that-she wants to get her own business off the ground. Offering to help until after Christmas, Joy finds herself falling for the father of her two new charges, a man who finds himself falling for our story line heroine. What ensues is the building romance between Granger and Joy, and the potential fall-out as Granger’s past comes looking for a second chance.
Joy Benson has loved and lost, and losing meant more than anyone could have imagined. Trusting again was difficult in the wake of her fiancé’s betrayal but falling for Granger and his daughters was easy and fun. Granger Fields also has issues of trust -as a single father whose wife and mother of his children was no longer in the picture, Granger knew his daughters would always come first, and entrusting their care to Joy meant trusting his heart for the foreseeable future.
The relationship between Joy and Granger begins as friendship but struggles with demons from the past. Joy and Granger have both been burned by previous relationships, and in this, the pain is still real, and the anger simmers at the surface. The romance is passionate-there are no $ex scenes.
Several of the previous story line characters play secondary and supporting roles including fudge shop owner Dewanda. We are introduced to Joy’s parents Drs Benson; Joy’s Aunt Darby and her boyfriend Ray, and Joy’s ex-fiance Dan, as well as Granger’s parent Gene and Debbie, his daughter’s Willow and Abby, and his ex-wife Erin.
SEASON OF JOY is a sweet story line, perfect for the holidays. Although Granger often is quick to judge, Joy is a passionate woman who wears her heart on her sleeve. The premise is charming; the romance is wistful; the characters are colorful and spirited.
Full of small-town community and magic, Sweetwater Springs never fails to bring a smile. Joy is an artist and hoping to open a brick and mortar art/craft gallery, even though her Etsy site is humming along nicely. With the refrain of “starving artist’ ringing in her ears, Joy has managed to support herself with her artwork, and with teaching, both children and retired adults, at the library. Her dream is to combine her workplace and a teaching space, and open the gallery to the many local craftsmen and artists. Spotting a space on main street, she’s going to inquire about it all –but holding her breath to see what it will cost with the ever-increasing popularity of the downtown space.
Granger is a single dad and works on the tree farm with his father. They had a fire earlier in the year, and lost much of their inventory, so he’s struggling to find a way to serve customers and bring in new business, much to his father’s dismay. His girls take art classes with Joy, and the two have known (and noticed) one another for a while now – even if neither has stepped forward. Busy with the girls and managing the farm (and his father) Granger’s focus, unlike his friends, is on what is right in front of him. But there’s questions, tumult and plenty of choices for him to make.
Continuing in the tale of this little town, Rains’ characters are full of life, light, love and humanity – none are perfect, but everyone seems to find a perfect fit in their life that defines (and helps to solidify) who they are, and how they, as a little cog, fit into this tightly woven community. Full of charm, a dose of excitement for the holiday, and plenty of laughter, support, friendship and love – the story is a wonderful introduction to the series for those who are unfamiliar, a solid installment for fans of the series and the author, and sure to be a holiday favorite for many. Grab a cup of cocoa, some cookies and a comfy chair – for you’ll need to escape with this gem for an afternoon: you’ll see why this is a favorite series from a favored author.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
Are you looking for a television holiday movie in book form? Look no further than Season of Joy by Annie Rains. Thank you to Forever Pub and Netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
Granger Fields is having a rough day. His babysitter quit, his family Christmas tree farm suffered a fire a few months ago limiting their supply of tree this year and the extra trees they were suppose to get from out of state are no longer available. When he talks to his father about bringing back the Christmas light hayride his feet are firmly set in the ground with a no. Without extra income this may be the last year the Merry Mountain Tree Farm will be around.
Joy Benson is a local artist hoping to open her own gallery. In order to do so she's working multiple jobs around town to save money. That would be easier said than done if her junker of a car didn't keep breaking down. When Granger Fields asks her if she's willing to help babysit his daughters after school she's hesitant but decides to take him up on his offer for the extra cash. She wont' be babysitter though she'll charge him for art classes for his girls. When Joy makes crafty Christmas trees with Granger's daughters, it gives Granger a new idea to add to the Christmas tree farm this holiday season. With Joy's okay to help teach art classes on how to make trees to patrons they begin spending even more time together. Is Granger ready for love again after his estranged ex-wife left him with his daughters? Is Joy ready to move on after her ex-fiance cheated on her right before Christmas last year?
Season of Joy was just fine for me. It felt like reading a Lifetime movie. If I was to describe the romance in this novel (open vs. closed door), this would be a no door novel. There is nothing more than some kisses, hand holding and some light clothed body touches on Granger's chest. I was hoping for a little more steam from this novel. It's my first by Annie Rains and maybe this is her style of writing and it isn't for me. Once upon a time it would have been fine but now I want more romance in my romance novels. What I did like about it is the atmosphere at the Merry Mountain Tree Farm. I wanted to go on the Christmas light ride and make crafty trees. It was reminiscent for me of Christmases past.
SEASON OF JOY is a Christmas romance that really brings the Christmas season to life. Joy is an artist who excels at her craft and also teaches art classes. Two of her young students happen to have a single and handsome father, who does catch her eye. When she finds out their nanny is retiring unexpectedly, Joy is roped into being their art teacher after school until their father is able to watch them.
Their father, Granger, works at his family's Christmas tree farm, and the holidays are around the corner. He has lots of ideas about how to turn their downtrending business into something profitable, but his own father won't listen. When Joy has the idea of crafting classes, this might just be the thing to help turn it all around. Their feelings for each other grow as they spend time together, but it seems like there are so many obstacles in their way.
Joy was a fantastic and strong character - although she is kind and wants to help people, she also knows her own worth. That is especially important, because Granger does not make things easy for her. He is juggling a lot, but he also lets a lot of important things fall through the cracks and lays a lot of responsibility on Joy. I adored his daughters, Joy, and his mother, but Granger made things a bit harder to fully cheer for him.
The Christmas spirit really shines throughout this book, and it definitely got me in the holiday mood. I would recommend for people looking for a Christmas romance with plenty of holiday and adorable kids, as well as a strong and kind heroine. Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Another wonderful story from Annie Rains, set in Sweetwater Springs, one of my favorite fictional small towns. The pairing of Granger and Joy was especially timely for this Christmas story, since Granger owns and operates Merry Mountain Tree Farm with his patents. After a fire destroyed almost half his trees, he’s going to need a miracle...or some great ideas from Joy, a local artist, to keep business profitable this year. The fact that Granger is also the good-looking and kind single dad to two of Joy’s favorite art students helps push this couple together. And individual hardships give them even more in common, sad as that is. But those hard times and a bit too much pride and not enough communication threaten this budding romance, as well as people in Granger’s present and past. I’ll admit, there was one character I wasn’t very pleased with, because of a certain action taken by them. Vague, I know, but this is a spoiler free zone! But that’s real life. You’re not going to like every person you read about, or come in contact with. So while the story is fictional, this reader’s feelings definitely reflect how the may feel in a real world situation. I got everything I expected and more from Season of Joy, as I do will all Ms. Rains books. Wonderful characters, real and often poignant issues, lots of fun and a touch of magic, especially with her holiday titles. I look forward to visiting Sweetwater Springs again...possibly to see veterinarian Chase with a possible love interest?! You never know what the author has up her sleeve.
My thanks to Netgalley and Forever/Grand Central Publishing for the advance copy. All opinions are my own and freely given
Hmmm... the blurb was intriguing BUT I had problem loving this book.
First of all, I thought Joy to be a little cold. But then when I found out what made Joy like that -- she had parents who didn't "understand" about her love towards arts, and want her to keep office job with good pay, whatever, AS WELL as an ex-boyfriend who I could totally understand her reluctance with romance.
Then there was Granger... I thought he was a bit wishy-washy. He was the one pursuing Joy, but then taking steps back asked her to be just friend. Then when his EX returned, Granger didn't exactly claimed firmly about Joy's status. AND whatever Granger said, he still didn't have initial intention to tell Joy about even though Granger knew about Joy's history with the ex.
AND THERE WASN'T ANY GRAND APOLOGY from Granger, was it?!! Not even until the end. URGH, Ami is not happy with Granger.
But I am willing to put this on my three stars category because I enjoyed the Christmas vibe -- Joy working on her arts were LOVELY, I liked the kids okay, and there were cute dog and a possessive cat.
By the way, this is supposed to be book 6 in a series... but I have NO PROBLEM at all never reading the previous five. So I guess it's completely good as a stand-alone.
PS: I don't read the bonus novella. Maybe I'll keep it for later

As usual with this series, I mostly liked the book, but there was a part of me that was frustrated by one of the main characters. Granger is great. I've liked him from previous books (as the best friend). He runs the Christmas tree farm in the area, and he's now getting ready for the holiday season. But because of last year's fire and his inability to buy some trees from other farmers, he knows they're going to be short with trees to sell, resulting in a likely large dip in profits. So he comes up with the idea of asking Joy (his daughters' art teacher) to teach classes in making alternative trees. Plus he's trying to resurrect an old tradition of hosting hayrides through the decorated woods. With these plans, as well as selling his mother's cider and hot cocoa, he's hoping to get through this year's busy season. He also is starting to get some warm and romantic feelings for Joy, but when his ex-wife shows up shockingly unexpectedly, the romance has some problems. Joy, who I thought was great at first, turns out to be a non-trusting woman because of her past relationship. So she's annoying about thinking the worst whenever a situation with Granger and his ex happens. Hey, they share two daughters, so of course they're going to have to work together, preferably amicably. But Joy is always jumping to conclusions (negative ones), and her go-to reaction is to close off and run away. But I was happy that they both pushed to try again and build their HEA. A sweet Christmas book.
After a fire took out half of their tree crop Granger Fields is left more than a little worried about how they will recoup the sales they lost out on due to the fire. Selling Christmas trees during the holidays is their families livelihood, it keeps them afloat for the whole year. He has to do something else to drum up more business on the farm during the holidays.

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
n Season of Joy, Annie Rains takes us back to the beloved small town of Sweetwater Springs. If you have read previous books in the series, you know that a fire took out many of the trees at Granger Fields's family tree farm. As a single dad he's struggling with how to manage both the challenges of the business and his two small daughters, but local artist Joy is in the right place at the right time... I really enjoyed this one, and I think other readers who have been charmed by Sweetwater Springs will have fun reading this story. The setting (both the town and the tree farm) feel straight out of a Hallmark movie, and the extra holiday sparkle in Sweetwater Springs is lovely. This felt like a quieter Christmas romance- a lot of it happens in peaceful moments, like when Joy and Granger go out for wagon rides through the lights. This was a great end to my holiday themed reads!
Thank you to Net Galley and Forever Publishing for allowing me to review this ARC. This book ticked a lot of boxes for me. Single dads (especially of girls), Christmasy atmosphere, nanny romances, etc. are all some of my favorite things and this book did not disappoint. In this book we meet Granger and Joy. Granger is the father of 2 girls and Joy is an aspiring artist. She wants to open a gallery but she doesn't have the financial backing to do it and she definitely does not have the support of her doctor parents. So, when Granger's nanny is forced to retire, Joy fits in perfectly. She is going to give them art lessons every day so she's not technically a nanny, but tomayto tomahto. Simultaneously, Granger is struggling because his family Christmas tree farm had a massive fire that burned the trees and they can't get many others. This has a financial impact, but he's also worried that people will be disappointed and will go elsewhere and never return. The 2 people work together in caring for the kids as well as coming up with a crafty way to make trees when trees are not available. I thought the Christmas atmosphere was great and this was a really cute story. There is some baby mama drama and some issues with Joy and her parents that gave the book a little bit of extra depth. I don't know that it will be super memorable, but it was an entertaining read nonetheless.
I have reviewed the included novella (The Christmas Wish by Melinda Curtis) under it's own title.
