BEAU
I hate the Carnaval. The freaks and wide-eyed visitors make my flesh crawl. They are lower than my brother and I. We are gods amongst monsters. As they say, two heads are better than one. Everyone else is dirt. But Nox is all that matters. He’s not just an extension of myself. He is more than flesh and blood. To me, he’s all I need. The only man I’ve ever loved. And if anyone dares hurt my brother… I’ll make the whole world bleed.

NOX
The Carnaval is my home. These are my people. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than with the troupe and Beau right beside me. The two of us spent years aching to see the world, and now we live the dream every day. Almost. What will it take to truly win over a Beauty? And what lengths am I prepared to go to in order to make sure she stays by our side?

MINERVA
Elysium is in sight. So close I can almost taste it. The two-faced god is the gateway to our true home. He will take us there, that much I’ll make sure of. Even if it means spilling the blood of a thousand pathetic mortals, which I’ll do with a grin upon my face.

Great Twist

Malus is a twisted, unpredictable story. I am not Used to the author's writing style; however, I did enjoy it.

Malus is the story of the Siamese twins. Nox is sweet and innocent; Beau is the broody and complete opposite of his brother. They never had an easy life since birth. Both are looking for the right beauty to join them.

Minerva is a twisted, non bathing, dread wearing, third eye, psycho, and so far out there. She believes the twins are Janus, the key to a portal they have been seeking to leave earth.

There is still blood, murder, and mayhem with paranormal; I wasn't sure what to expect and how the story would turn out—such a twisted surprise. Sometimes I was screaming yea and some parts; I wonder what the hell. I look forward to future books from this author

Genre: Horror
Type: Book 2 of 7 from Carnaval des Ténèbres series
POV: First person - multiple
Rating:

For the past few years, Carnaval des Ténèbres had been home for Siamese twins, The Brothers Malus. Even though Beau and Nox found fame as the strongmen of the troupe, they felt the best was yet to come. Their act caught the attention Minerva who made them an offer they couldn’t refuse.

This was my first book with conjoined twins characters and it was certainly a unique and intriguing experience. Beau and Nox shared a body but with a day and night personality. Minerva, well... she was a force on her own, to say the least.

Unlike the previous book, this one took place outside the Carnaval. The story was trippy with several memorable moments ranging from “hell yeah!” to “WTF?”. I enjoyed the overall story even though I prefer the ending to be tighter.

Malus is a tale of reaching new height. It would appeal to readers looking for a quick horror read.

As conjoined twins, Beau and Nox Malus always have had each other to count on during the hard times. Having joined the Carnaval de Ténèbres four years ago, the brothers performed for crowds while looking for a woman that would accept them. But when it does happen, it sets off a series of events that no one could have predicted.

”What we know is that whatever we’re confronted with, or wherever we land up, we will survive it.”

This was definitely a unique story that is best described as mild horror with a side of crazy. I liked the unsettling elements and how the plot peaks. With Beau and Nox being such opposites, it created conflict and there were many times when I wanted to slap Nox. As for a certain character, she was a surprising touch. However, I do wonder about whether these books are supposed to be standalones in the same world or share an overarching plot arc. It seems for now that it’s the former.

Malus is a story about not letting one’s vulnerabilities lead them astray.

Σκοτεινό και τολμηρό. Θα το εκτιμούσα αν δεν υπήρχε ένα συγκεκριμένο σημείο της πλοκής όσον αφορά τα αδέρφια.

“The Brothers Malus” aren’t just Siamese twins, they are two different men sharing one body. Nox is sweet and naive and Beau is pretty much the opposite.

Minerva, an extremely fascinating, public masturbating, non-bathing, dreadlock wearing “crazy bitch“ with a third eye tattooed on her forehead believes the twins are a god she calls Janus. She’s been told by the other gods that Janus is the key they need to access the elusive portal they’ve been seeking so they can leave Earth’s realm and return to their beloved Elysium.

In Minerva’s pursuit of Janus, she causes quite a few catastrophes including one that has the twins booted out of the Carnaval Des Ténèbres. With hallucinogenic drugs, murder and so so so much more, the twins go on an insanely wild ride!!!

I loved how incredibly bizarre and twisted this unpredictable story was! Hes’s writing is different from anything else I’ve read andso much fun; I will definitely be looking for more of his books! My only complaint is that he needs a good proofreader. On a regular basis there were missing words (”Owen looked me”), extra words (“How I would I react to them”), wrong words (“...things I wouldn’t wish I my worst enemy”), etc.. There were punctuation errors such as not using the FANBOYS comma rule, errors with homophones such as TO instead of TWO and typos like FURTHER when it should have been FARTHER. Aside from the need for a proofreading, though, this book is phenomenal!!!

Malus is the second book in the Carnaval des Ténèbres series. This one focuses on Siamese twins, Beau and Nox. Even though they are twins they are so different from one another. One loves being with the Carnaval and the other hates it. Their other differences create some conflict as well. It was interesting to watch this unfold.

At one of their shows they meet Minerva who ends up being one insane character. After meeting her everything changes for the brothers. They were hoping for a Beauty and they got so much more! Minerva takes them on one wild ride on a mission to reach Elysium and will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. Parts of it moved a bit slow for me but that all changed within the last few chapters of the book. A very twisted ending that I wasn't expecting.

WoW - Malus is one hell of an epic twisted read, Jason Hes takes you inside the horrors and joys of the Carnaval and beyond.

Beau & Nox are like chalk & Cheese but together they remain, through the acts they perform every night to the beauty they seek and a beauty is what they find or so they think.!

Beau & Nox's journey is a bloody crazy one that almost tears the due apart but can two heads work better than one and escape Minerva's house of horrors, sex & drugs??.

This author's writing style is spot on, the right amount of humour added and each scene written so well you actually believe you are there.

Lovers of books that have your head spinning: Malus is a one click must!

Roll-up, roll-up, come meet the conjoined ‘strongmen’ twins of the Carnaval Des Ténèbres.

Beau and Nox’s story takes us on a whole new dimension. They step away from the freaks of the carnaval and follow the beauty known as Minerva. She is one quirky, wacky chick and the ride in which she takes them on is an eye opener. Sex, drugs, blood and gore this story has it all and it’s served up to us on a platter.

3.5 stars!!!

Malus was TRIPPY. I loved the strongmen Nox and Beau and the love they had for each other. It was VERY interesting reading a book with siamese twins. This was a dark read and I can't help wondering what the REAL truth was about Minerva. 🤔 I was hoping some questions I had from the first book would've been answered, but maybe I'll get my wish later on. The next book is based on the human fairy and I can't wait!!! 🎪

This story pulled me into its world so quickly. These characters were vividly written and there were twists and turns galore.
About halfway through the book, things got a little weird even for my eclectic taste, but I was still invested in the story and willing to see where things would go with Minerva and her "Janus."
The ending was satisfying and still left things open to go elsewhere.

Welcome to the Carnaval des Ténèbres, where the Brothers Malus (the strongest men alive) perform their greatest acts.

Malus is about the conjoined twins. They’re apart of the carnival but when unfortunate things start to happen, they have to move on. While they’re in this journey they will come across Minerva, the wildest and strangest person they probably will ever meet.

This story is based outside of the Carnaval, but it’s gives the same vibe.

I unfortunately cannot get into this authors writing.
The writing was just way too bizarre and I couldn’t keep my attention to the story.
Its a shame because I really wanted to know more about Nox and Beau.

Malus is the second book in the Carnaval des Ténèbres series, it follows Beau and Nox who may share the same body but they are complete opposites, one is happy at the Carnaval the other hates being there and Minerva is just pure crazy and because Beau and Nox are complete opposites it helps with the stories conflict.

Minerva believes she has been told by unseen Gods that the twins are a God named Janus and they are key to helping her and the other Gods to open a portal so that they can return to Elysium.

While trying to get the twins Minerva has the twins kicked out of the Carnaval for something that they never did so she can manipulate them to go with her.
