Cole St. Andrew, The Marquess of Woodbridge has been afraid for years that he would turn into his father and hurt the love of his life. So, for years he watched his love from afar, too frightened of his past to do more than watch her. When he gets back to London after everything that happened with his family and finding out about their massive family secret, that is going to change, and nothing can stop him from claiming the woman he loves. Will he finally get the girl he loves or is it too late? Will he be able to rescue her from the fate that awaits her?
Eden Turner has loved Cole from afar for years. She is a wallflower and proud to be. There has never been anyone who makes her wish to change it, until she saw Cole across the room years ago. She has lived a quiet life, one that has been lonely and sad until she found her purpose in helping those less fortunate than her. Even though she too suffers abuse at the hands of her brother. When Cole gets back from his trip to the country, she is determined to speak to him. To finally tell him what she has kept secret for many years. But at the first ball they attend, he comes with a beautiful woman on his arm. She feels as though her heart is ripped from her chest, and Eden doesn’t wish to see him again. But things are not always what they seem. Will Cole be able to win her over? Will she be able to tell him of her love? And will he be able to save her from those who seek to harm them both?
I don't understand why this needs to be 383 pages when the MCs became a couple immediately at the 14% mark. They also dropped the love bomb around this time. Apparently they've been mutually pining for three years, so I suppose they don't want to waste time.
Anyway, I skimmed it, and tbh I feel like this should've been a novella instead of a full-length book. Nothing really much happened, and then we got the POV of different side characters that I couldn't care less about at all.
The good thing, I suppose, is that while there's still the ongoing plot about their father, I think they would be reunited in the next book, or I hope so.
That said, I probably would've enjoyed this if it were a bit shorter and unnecessary characters weren't given too much time and importance. Also, I wish they weren't so nice and forgiving to those people who did cause them trouble. I think there are some things that just don't deserve forgiveness.
"You are my entire world Eden. My soul. My life. My light." This is book 2 of The Men who Revered Us series. This one was about Cole and Eden. (Cole is Aiden's twin brother, from book 1) This entire plot is getting better and better and more intriguing as we continue to get closer to solving the mystery that surrounds this wonderful family. This story reveals more on the situation they are dealing with as well as gives us a love story that some are only able to dream about. More and more, I wish to be a part of this family and band of friends. The author makes me feel like I'm part of their circle and I find myself thinking about what these characters are doing while I'm at work. -dual virgins -dual POV -historical -no OM drama, there is some OW drama caused by H's cousin) -some abuse but not of a sxual nature Listen, I never gave historical books a chance before but I'm telling you again, I'm so happy I did. A good author will make you feel the emotions of the characters you are reading but a great author will not only make you feel the emotions but will make you think about the story or characters for days afterwards. Another job greatly done. A longer story, but you won't be sorry investing your time in reading about this fantastic world.
Loved Cole and Eden. Cole has been in love with Eden for three years but never felt good enough for her so he stayed in the shadows and watched her. After the way he grew up with his father beating him and his family and the way he treated Cole's mother, Cole never thought he deserved happiness and was fearful to turn out as his father. You'll want to read this book between two people who have so much love to give and when given love fiercely. There are so many mysteries you'll want to keep reading the series. dual pov. no others after meeting. dual virgins.
WOW WOW WOW! I was so obsessed with the first book I had high expectations for book 2 and Eden and Cole did NOT disappoint. And I LOVED the little glimpses of Aidan and Rhia as well. This book was fast moving which I loved and Cole was just as much an alpha as Aidan. Once he stopped letting his past hold him back there was nothing and no amount of distance that could keep him from Eden. I love historical romances and Rochelle Stevenson does NOT disappoint. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next few books in this series!
The Marquess Who Adored Me is the second book in The Men Who Revere Us series. I stumbled on to this author. So when it was suggested that I read her book I agreed. I haven't read historical romance since I was in my early teen years, but figured why not.
Rachelle Stevensen is new to the indie scene, with this being only her second book. Stevensen's cover reminded me of the "Fabio" days. The pirate ships, handsome swashbuckler, and the damsel in distress all so gorgeously displayed.
So I dove in expecting to go back to a freer time in my life. I wasn't disappointed. Stevensen brought a great plot and characters to the book. A story of two people who fall in love from a distance and fight the odds to come together. The plot was twist filled. Honestly, not what I was suspecting. She had a backstory that became a front story that literally floored me and made it where I had to keep reading. The plot kept me enthralled.
I have only one complaint (more so for those who read historical romance regularly) the language is more of the modern times than the olden days. This doesn't truly bother me, simply because I have a harder time deciphering what they are saying when it is true to the era. Stevensen switches back and forth between the two ways of communicating. This hampered the flow but only a tiny itty bit. This is not something that would keep me from recommending the book, although I might forewarn those that are super critical about the accuracy in historical books.
I believe that Stevensen is just going to grow as she continues to write. I am really looking forward to her future books, as I've heard a couple of the side characters stories are going to be told. Stevensen was able to get me invested enough to want to read more of her characters. You will end up having a favorite. I am still trying to decide which is mine. Rachelle Stevensen's follow up book picks up right where the first left off and follows Aiden's twin brother, Cole, in his search for answers to their family secrets as well as his claiming of his love. Cole is so strong and sacrifices for those he cares for without hesitation. I love the direction of this series and I can't wait for the next one! You should read the first book before reading this one as there is an overarching plot, but each book features a different couple with no relationship cliffhanger. If you like safe, historical romance, this book is for you!
I received a free ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Just as she did with book 1, Rachelle has captured my heart and soul with these beautifully created and cursed characters. Her style of constant chaos is so enthralling and there isn’t a doubt in my mind about which book I am going to pick up next (pssst, it’s going to be Book 3.)
Aidan is still my favorite but man did Cole steal a piece of my heart as well.
Cole (Full name Nicholas) is the Marquess of Woodbridge, he saw Eden 3 years prior but never spoke to her till now because he didn’t want to be like his father
Eden has crushed on Cole for 3 years also, she sees him again and thinks Lily (Cole’s sister) is his wife and she is devastated till it is cleared up.
Her brother tries selling her off like merchandise.
OW- The cousin again who made trouble in Book 1 is back
Totally loved this action and romantic packed series. The writing is phenomenal. Sweet deserving children of a ton family finding their forever alphas. Hope to read more of the twins and the family friends story soon. Hooked & Following!
The writing was so bad I couldn't make it past the second chapter. Two writing tips the author should keep in mind: show, don't tell... and avoid clichéd phrases ("at death's door" and "hell on earth" - plenty of examples on pretty much every page). This book was a waste of money.
Again I was blown away by this new author, writing FULL LENGTH historical romance. The depth or her story and characters just blows me away.
These books really do connect and tell an on going story, working to solve some family secrets and mysteries...so this is one time this lover or reading a good series out of order will caution you not to. Start with book 1 and follow the family forward.
I adored Cole and Eden, both secretly enamoured of the other for YEARS when a near death experience shakes Cole up and finally gets these two moving towards their HEA.
I find myself invested in these characters and the happenings with ALL of their family members and the mysteries of the past they are trying to solve. I cannot wait to continue to story and see who gets their HEA next and how much closer we get to solving ALL of the family's mysteries.
I will caution this series does have some darker and and heavier moments/themes but it is critical to the story. Read the warnings at the beginning before diving in.
This is the second book in this series and I loved it just as much as I did the first book. This is Cole's story. He's loved Eden for awhile now but never made his intentions known to her. When he shows back up in London with his sister in tow, Eden thinks he has taken a wife and runs. I'm not normally a reader of historical or regency books but this one had me hooked from the first page. Cole is also on a quest to see if his real father is still alive but there are others who don't want him to find out. It's a game of mystery, danger, intrigue and passion along the way. Will Cole find out about his father? Will Eden find out that Lily really isn't Cole's wife and give him a chance? And what happens when Eden comes under danger from a person seeking revenge against Cole and his family? So many little stories woven into a larger story that comes together and makes this a really good book. Now I'm just waiting for the next story!!!
I LOVED this book! This book has romance, action, danger and some sadness in it. Cole and Eden has been in love with each other for awhile but Cole almost dying has him moving to claim Eden. Their family is so accepting of Eden and just want Cole to be happy. They have drama within the family (on both sides) that shakes them up. There is sadness with what happened to their dad and mom and my heart hurt for the whole family. I would definitely recommend this book. Can't wait for the next one.
