Dhruv by Karan Verma is a simple yet heart rendering love story. It will make you smile and cry often. It is about the belief that true love never dies or dims, it remains with you through the thick and thins of life.
The story starts just before Dhruv born, during the difficult time in the Banaras. It is the story of his life, his love story with Emma. How Dhruv meet Emma and fall in love is heart warming to read. But the destiny plays its cards and they gets separated. Dhruv has never been able to forget her, the time they had spent together. He has finally learnt to content himself with the memories and thinks that he would never be able to find her. And suddenly one day she turns up! Things that followed the meeting changes their lives.
The story does not end there, in fact it is quite the beginning of their beautiful love story. The ending is not exactly a happy or a sad one but a mixture of the two which will make you smile and cry at the same time. True love is eternal but there is always something that is not in our hand, some circumstances in life we can't change or avoid. The love described in the story is profound. It is poignant love story that will move you deeply.

It is rare to find a book that has the ability to make the reader look at life through a different lens, forcing us to re-examine our values, prejudices, morals and ethics. 'Dhruv: Love Story of an Alchemist' is such a book that will touch your soul and may change your life.
I was awed by the author Karan Verma's ability to weave a story filled with hope and love, while realistically addressing the not so nice, sometimes ugly, realities of living with a grief. Dhruv by Karan Verma is such a beautiful book. Not beautiful in the literal sense, but everything it symbolizes. It tackles so many themes, and this list of my personal favorites only covers a few: perception and reality, the dreams, past versus present versus future, the morality of the 21st century, etc.
My favorite part of the novel was Dhruv's pursuit of Emma and everything that stood for. Not only is their romance breath-taking and heartstrings-pulling at the literal level, but how Author Karan Verma crafted their connection in such a way to represent their persistent hope yet unattainable goal for the future blew me away. And the ending is always resonating in my head. Those humble and yet magnificent words. Karan Verma created a meaningful and beautiful work without sounding pretentious nor mechanical. A remarkable task. Above all the superficiality of the characters, their strange yet familiar vision of the world, there is a story of love, regret and lost hopes.
Dhruv by Karan Verma is a fantastic story with so many components and a ton to say about life. The characters felt so alive. The setting and the description of Banaras felt familiar. The pace and turns in the plot seemed to call you to jump inside the book. I can not stress enough how touching and beautiful this story is. I would encourage everyone to read this book.

Dhruv by Karan Verma is a story about two characters, Dhruv and Emma, rom opposite sides of the track who meet one fateful day and fall in love for a lifetime. This novel was engaging and steady paced. I was able to read it in one sitting as I was drawn into the lives of Dhruv and Emma. Author Karan Verma has created a poignant story about two people who try to recapture the love they once shared despite the passage of time.
Dhruv is a simple boy with simple dreams. He loves writing, his life in a small town, and a girl that was never meant to be his. Emma is accustomed to a life of riches and luxury, but she desires much more for herself. As they explore their love for one another during their time together, they realize that theirs is a love meant to last a lifetime. However, circumstances pull them apart and they are faced with trying to find a way to get back what they once had. It was interesting to experience this story through the eyes of Dhruv as he enters the last chapters of his life.

Dhruv by Karan Verma is a cutesy romance book with an entertaining plot. I won't be talking about the plot though. I would be talking about my experience while reading the book. I did feel for Dhruv and Emma. I finished the book in almost one sitting. The beautiful descriptions of Varanasi adds to the intoxicating feeling of the story and will definitely make you wish to visit that place.
Everyone wishes for true love in their lives. Dhruv's love for Emma is eternal and the last few pages are really heart-wrenching. This book can change the perspective you look at things. It will make you realise how simple things have beauty of its own. The plot was fantastic and filled with deep, sincere emotion.

Dhruv by Karan Verma is a heart wrenching yet heart-warming love story I’ve read recently. It leaves you drowning in your emotions and smiling at the end. Dhruv and Emma weren’t ever supposed to be together. They came from different backgrounds. Dhruv is a small-town high spirited boy who has a deep passion for writing. Emma comes from a family that’s from riches and luxuries. This all changes when they cross path one day during their teen years. This is not just one of those typical summer flings. They fall truly, passionately, and madly in love with each other. However, because of circumstances they part away. Dhruv and Emma lose connection for a few years to meet again.
You may not notice what time steals from you and in the blink of an eye you grow older and become incapable of doing what you loved or going to places you desired to go when you were young. I felt the characters, the beauty of their relationship. Karan Verma uses incredible diction to capture the precious moments and feelings of Dhruv and Emma.

This is a good book. The premise is good, and the narration style is also good. However, where it fails,as per me, is that it only celebrates tragedy and just skims over the good parts. It is the projection of tragedy as a crucible, without having powerful language to make to think.
There are a few good parts like smelling the roses, but the author hardly ever allows us to do so.
The ending where the ones come back to seek repentance to the very person in cliche.
There is something about the author's style that makes us go on reading. In his earlier, Master and Jack, it suited his theme is a series of victorious.
Tragedy however needs to tug your heart. There it falls short, despite a powerful message at the end.

Dhruv by Karan Verma is very sweet and touching. The kind of feeling one gets when in love in your teens, where everything seems pure and unalloyed. That’s the feeling this book arouses in the reader. The song “Time after time” by Cyndi Lauper perfectly describes the book. It is about undying love and passion through the lifetime of the protagonists.
The thing about Karan Verma’s writing is that it is very unassuming and yet convey the best and long forgotten innocent feelings in the simplest of sentences. The base of the book Dhruv by Karan Verma is that it is based on true and undying love.
The story is about Dhruv and Emma, who meet in their youth, fall passionately in love, and are then separated for long time and for some reasons are unable to be together, and then meet again only to rekindle the love they shared into an undying, eternal phenomenon.

The plot of the book is very interesting and unpredictable.Moreover the language and the writing is very descriptive.
Overall I think it was very positive and inspiring book.

As Dhruv cannot afford to make Emma's life beautiful he refuses to accept their relationship. But that didn't stop for their love grew on the holy ghats of Banaras. Will Dhruv accept his feelings for Emma? Well to know more just read the book.

As we can predict from title, the protagonist of the story is Dhruv. Dhruv is a son of Ram Samrat and Rukmini. Rukmini was pregnant with a child and there was a horrible accident. Ram thought his child wouldn’t survive but somehow he did and Rukmini died after that. That child was named as Dhruv. Astrologers predicted that he will have different and extraordinary future. In childhood he had a friend named Sudama. Dhruv was very compassionate and always curious. One day he was told by his father that their forefathers of the village were blessed with a power that can turn lead into gold. The power of Alchemy and they were called Alchemists. Now the tag line of the story is “Love story of an Alchemist” but to know further how this journey proceed, you have to read the book. On his journey, he met Emma in Kashi. Their love grew on the holy ghats of Banaras. Read the book to discover what lies in their destiny.
I couldn’t resisted picking up this book by title and I am glad that I picked it up. It turned out to be an amazing read. The book has all components of a perfect story. The story moves at faster pace, I liked that. And most importantly, the author has amazing narration style. There are many twists and turns in the plot. And it moved at unpredictable course. personally, i loved the writing style of the book in the first half and i found the story very tight but i believe the writing style started degrading as it went further. it has strong imagery in the first few chapters and i appreciate that a lot. all in all, would definitely suggest one to give it a read once.

Dhruv an intelligent & ambitious boy wants to shine like a star as his name suggests. When he was born his naming is based on brightest star in the sky. So he always want to pursue such kind of brightness in his life also.
His father a sundry businessman running pious stone business. Their generation is belongs to alchemists I.e. a person who can turn lead into gold. It's interesting na ?
When I started reading it I think it is like a traditional type of love story deal with romance & happily ever after life. But not. It surprises me step by step. Once when Dhruv survives in mumbai to pursue his dream by his talent of presenting words as skit. With a magical voice he can reach deep into listener's heart. A pure talented person. But his conditions miserable due to deceive in business & film industry. Although he has a true friend & his love- Emma.
Emma a girls with beautiful eyes melt his heart in first sight then their friendship concerts into love. As Dhruv cannot afford to make Emma's life beautiful he refuses to accept their relationship.
This decisions leads to more destruction & at final stage story turns into a different path.

Love story of an Alchemist is a perfect blend of love, wisdom and spirituality. It is a story of a guy, Dhruv. He is not an ordinary kid but a special kid as his name resembles Dhruv the star, yes the brightest one. He belongs to the upper class of society and Alchemists are known to turn any metal into gold.
Story takes place in Banaras and he is born during riots and the priest announces he is not an ordinary child but a blessed one. Dhruv is potrayed as a naughty yet intelligent kid. His friend Sudhama helps in achieving his goals but he himself fails to clear exams and being a dalit nobody cares about Sudhama. It's Dhruv, the only upper class(Brahmin) kid who is shown has been shown as an empathetic one.
Throughout his school life he remains a topper and has great taste in art and culture and soon he takes up drama and other literary stuff. He gets a newsletter from another country for a degree course but destiny plays it joker card and mocks at him. His father gets ill and since his mother died while giving birth to him he is the only supporter.
He continues his degree in his state itself and soon comes across the girl of his dream, the girl with purple eyes. She is a kind hearted and a lovely humble girl but her parents never liked her and she finds happiness in Dhruv.

So the story sets in Banaras and revolves around Dhruv our protagonist who is very generous and quirky. He was born in an extraordinary circumstance. He meets Emma, a foreigner who came to India for her internship. Their love grew on the holy Ghats of Banaras. In one horrible incident, he lost the two - the love of his life & his father. What inspires him to rise above all the man-made and nature odds? What incites him to seek for his purpose of life and leads to his destiny, when sadness & dark around engulfed him are the rest.
This tell-tale narrates in short to the readers about the sweetness of childhood and adulthood altogether and how it opened the gateway to the destiny with all its life’s reality, heart-wrenching and soul searching ways. I always used to wonder why it feels a lack of imagination or emotional values over rationality when reading an Indian based love stories. What ensues me is the use of romanticism which is the most underrated one. That makes you feel rejoice in fulfilment and consume you with its song of peace and freedom all at once.

Dhruv-Love Story of an Alchemist has a very interesting plotline. Karan is a master storyteller like his character Dhruv and there is no way the reader can walk away after starting with the story. He creates powerful visuals and enchants the reader into living the story with Dhruv and Emma and that’s the experience once craves for in a good story. A story of pain, suffering and love, it is also the story of how determination and a strong will can change one’s life. The book is a study in how minor details can change the way a story unfolds, and I loved the way in which incidents, that one might dismiss as trivial come back in the end to symbolize the circle of life. The clever and interesting use of the term Alchemist blew my mind away the moment the significance emerges. Journeying this story without getting your eyes moist is something that is not possible and there are many places where you would stop, ponder, smile and move ahead. The climax of the book is beautiful and ironical at the same time and will definitely catch any reader’s attention.
Characters in a story are as important as the plot and this story has a great set of characters. Starting with our protagonist Dhruv, who is indomitable and faces all adversities with a strength that in unparalleled. I liked the mentions of the heritage of Banaras, the ghats, the temples, and the most beautiful culture. I liked the ending too, there are answers to questions we all ask in our life, and most importantly the answers to life.

It's a love story of an alchemist. But it's not only a mere love story it's more then it, the story contains simplicity yet magnificent storyline which will make you wander around it. The title is named after the protagonist Dhruv. Dhruv since childhood was a curious child and always seeking answers from everyone. He lost her mother in his birth and was grown up by his father only. Dhruv was destined to became a storyteller but due to his ailing father and certain other obstacles in his life he lost all opportunity in his carrer. He fell in love with the swis beauty Emma who has a kind hearted and pure soul. Emma being such a humble person didn't get back love from her parents and not even from the other members in the society but she find solace in the arms of Dhruv.
Every loving people has been snatched away from Dhruv, leaving him all shattered and heartbroken. He has gone through failures and rise up immediately after that. The struggle of one's life has been very well portrayed here. The concept of Alchemist in the purest form has been shown through the transformation of Dhruv, where he emerges as a Saint, rather called as a Guruji and his journey since childhood was worth reading for. The elements like caste, friendship, family values, ethics and morality, love and betrayal, trust and penance all have been very well depicted here. The storyline and the plot is majestically beautiful and engaging. The writing style of the author is praise worthy. The language is rich and the narration is fast paced. One will remain hooked until the end. But few of the things were repetitive at time. Will definitely recommend to every readers.

This is the story of an Alchemist (Dhruv) who did many arduous efforts in his life to overcome a lot of difficulties and to fulfill his dream. He loved his father so much meanwhile he had lost his mother at the tym of his birth. He fall in love with a beautiful face & soul named "Emma". She was raised in an orphanage. So she better knows the value & meaning of life. She taught us to fight for our dreams.
Emma pray to god for his fulfilment nd loved him so much but the way they were carried by their destiny at unbearable paths were really hard for both of them. Similar Contexts could be dealt in anyone's life. I highly recommend to read this book 😊
I'm honest in my review as i like this book much. Author used simple & sophisticated language which is deciphered without any impede. Some Terms are used here in the novel which influenced me so much towards life, career, love, decision, passion, emotion, struggle and so on. So influence also others because those words have huge meaning in everyone's life. The way the author described this, is really wonderful in it's way. These are some terms i liked very much. They are captivated to readers.

The author has beautifully woven a love story of Dhruv and Emma. Their love story is heart touching. It is not an ordinary love story. Are they destined to be together ? It still remains a question. The climax is quite unexpected. The emotions like love, hope, dreams and grief are covered in the story.
The book is a production of a young author who is quite famous within the youth. Apart from being a national bestseller, he is a successful entrepreneur and a computer engineer. He has a unique way of writing the story. While reading we feel all the actions taking place before our eyes.
The author believes that all human beings are unique in their own way. He further inspires us by saying that there is an alchemist inside everyone, if it comes out then it can magically change eveything around us.

Review- Dhruv: Love Story Of An Alchemist is a perfect combination of spirituality and love which is a unique combination for a novel. The plot revolves around our protagonist Dhruv who is from a small town but has big dreams. I really liked the fact where small town people have a lot of spark within because the sun rises after the darkest hours and small town people have the dream and fire in their eyes to rise above everything. Dhruv falls for Emma who is fond of Hindu Scriptures and here comes of love part of the novel. We all are damaged in some or the other way, we all have seen worst phase of life, we all have a lived a time which we never want to face again and it is really tough for us to get over it and rise above it. This book plays a great role in by taking us through the journey of rising above our dark times and live our dreams. The charactera is very inspiring as she is full of life and leaves that sparkle of a positive aura through the pages. The author has done justice to both the genre love and spirituality. My likings are less inclined towards love stories but I love to read them if they have the potential to hit the target and change the readers perspective and has other elements in the story which focus on influencing one’s personna and this book is of one such kind. The plot, characters and the aura the book holds everything is perfectly balanced and well built.

Dhruv by Karan Verma is a novella that highlights the importance of the little things in life and encourages the readers to go on a self-exploration journey. Using metaphorical connotations, the author deftly puts across the message that each one of us should be grateful for the little pleasures we have in our life. Even when the days are bad and things turn topsy turvy, the will to go beyond our limitations shouldn’t deter us from snatching success from the jaws of death. The protagonist, Dhruv, possesses glittery dust of magic that spreads positivity all around him. His indomitable spirit, benevolent nature and virtuous-self set an example for the readers. Opposite to him is Emma, a compassionate and selfless woman, who is always solicitous about the welfare of others. Dhruv’s story is an ill-fated expedition. He loses his mother immediately after his birth under unfavourable circumstances, he loses his father to illness and the stress caused by all the debts and loans. As if that is not all, he loses the love of his life to another man. Furthermore, his own people betray him. Destiny doesn’t leave any stone unturned in pushing him to succumb to his circumstances. But Dhruv is an alchemist. No, not the one who can transform one metal to another but the one who can change the course of his fate. The story describes his journey through all odds and evens.

Never say never... 'Dhruv: Love Story of an Alchemist' is a breathtaking tale penned down by Karan Verma. Through the pages, we step into the world of Dhruv, prophesied to rise like the brightest star in the night sky, and his journey and trials through love. Shattered dreams, eternal love or betrayal, they all shape a person. Will Dhruv achieve the greatness he is destined for? What exactly is the success his destiny foretells?
It has been months, almost a year, I had read a book that made me cry; this book did it. This novel is no ordinary tale- this is not just the love of an alchemist. It is a journey, so breathtaking and so pure. From the very beginning, I was in tears and as the story progressed, I felt a connection so profound. I have read so many philosophical books in these past few months, but this one book made me feel so whole. I learned things I might not have even thought about and that is the most beautiful thing about this book.
It has philosophies that aren't too difficult to understand, but just as overwhelming. The acknowledgement section of the novel made me realise how the author could write such a heart-warming tale.
Overall, I don't want to give anything away. Even if philosophy isn't your thing, you should try this book. I am so happy that I have read this book at such a trying time.

So I picked this book after the King of Sea as I wanted to read something lite and cool. But I don't know if it was a perfect coincidence because this book here delivered the same message to me as of my previous read. You know that thing above everything in life...'Salvation' it is. I feel weird!! Wowsers...the message of universe to me I guess!!.
This tiny wonderful book welled up my eyes. It was really very deep and thoughtful. It's about the life of Dhruv who lost his mother in birth and is raised up by his father. His birth is marked to be special and so he is. But none is special without suffering hell in life, is someone?. And Dhruv is shattered by failures, betrayal, loss and heartbreaks. Emma is the only one in whom he finds peace but destiny doesn't allow it to last longer. So what happens to Dhruv and his life? . This book is a beautiful romance, gripping drama, melancholic disaster, emotional fiction, spiritual quintessence and also a historical reflection. It would definitely be worth for your reading time. The best thing is the narration. The scenes were unfolding right before my eyes and trust me that imagination is difficult to provoke. Not every books let you feel that way. I felt it profound through out this book. Kudos to Karan for making me witness the story as such. If you wish for a failure to success plot mixed up with cultural richness of Banaras then this book will be recommended by me.
