What happens when the worlds of Pollyanna and Charlie Brown collide?
Megan Pennybaker and William Love have a problem. A strip of land runs behind their properties, and they both want it.
She’s a Sycamore Hill native with a gratifying number of influential supporters, and two yellow Labs named Happy and GoLucky. William Love is a celebrity transplant who has more cash than manners, and a pit bull he refuses to name.
Since they’re neighbors, they could cooperate. After all, their dogs are crazy about each other.
But she thinks William’s like all the others who look through her rather than seeing her. And he thinks Megan’s like the woman who abandoned him in his darkest hour.
She can’t stand the little black cloud he carts around on his golf course, even though she’s drawn to his rock-solid steadiness. He can’t stand the way she views life through rose-colored glasses, even as it fills his heart with hope.
When their worlds collide, can these opposites learn to love?
Learn to Love can be read as a standalone novel. It contains no cussing, some alcohol consumption, mild non-graphic sexual tension. There is a guaranteed happily ever after, with no cliffhanger.
Texas-born and Missouri-raised, I've lived lots of places since. My latest stint was Las Vegas, NV, for 15 years, teaching elementary school.
Reading and writing romance is my life's blood: sweet romantic comedy, steamy contemporary, and historical fiction.
When I'm not reading and writing romance, I study how to read and write it better. Most days I'd like to read and write romance at the beach, but I'm currently land-locked.
I received a complimentary ARC - early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
This is the first book I have read by this author and it was different than I expected. First its a VERY clean romance. There are lotsa kissing but nothing more than that. I also was a little iffy if I really liked the heroine as she sorta betrays the hero by keeping a secret from him. Also this story has ALOT of dogs, ALOT and they play a big part in the story.
Aside from that I LOVED the hero, he is grumpy fellow but he had good reasons for that. I also enjoyed the story as the author threw lots of stumbling blocks at the couple.
Megan is the heroine in this story and she is a preschool teacher and is William's neighbor but they get off to a rough start in this story. William has bought a golf course, he is the new guy in town and is a divorced ex golf player.
He believes he is cursed and bad things happen to him all the time and Meg believes that life can be hard but she is very Pollyanna like in that she makes lemonade from lemons. One of the big issues between Meg and Will is a piece of land they both want. One of the reasons I did not like Meg was because she wants that land and goes behind his back to try and get the land back but she never ever tells Will. It made it hard for me to like her as in a way she is betraying Will's trust.
Aside from that I highly enjoyed this story and fell hard for Will and his dog PAL.
William feels that the world is out to get him following the accident that ended his professional golf career and ended his marriage. Nothing seems to be going his way, including the plans to buy a piece of land on the edge of his golf course.
Megan is always cheery and looking on the bright side of life. Life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. She has plans to expand her private kindergarten to older children. She also wants the same piece of land as William for its educational benefits.
The first time they meet, William saves her life. The second time Megan ends up hitting him with a bag. The third doesn't go to plan either. Megan is pint sized and full of energy, sass and determination. They balance each other and Megan's positive outlook helps William see that there is a positive that can be found in most situations and that thinking only negative thoughts will only make you focus on the negatives.
This was light and full of humour. The interactions between all the characters contributed to the feeling of family in the book.
A very cute and easy read bout a quirky teacher who takes lives bad experiences and turns them into something positive. Megan is this smart, loving, preschool teacher, that tries to take life as it comes except sometimes life throws us what it thinks we need and hers came in the form of a rude guy that literally knocks her off her feet. William is a bitter man who has been through some of the worst times of his life after suffering a career ending injury his wife left him and he has seen the world as nothing but doom and gloom for years now, until a certain person enters his life like a hurricane and teaches him how to let go and enjoy the special moments and take each thing as it comes. The things that happen to bring them together was hilarious, but I also felt so bad for William because he seriously thought nothing good could come out of his life. A funny read about learning to let go and live in the moment with amazing characters and even better furry friends. Steam level is low but it is very sweet read.
"What happens when the worlds of Pollyanna and Charlie Brown collide?"
I seriously loved that line above so much, had to add it to my review since it epitomizes this story so perfectly. Learn to Love is a short(ish) read with a big dose of sweetness. Megan is a person we should all aspire to be, which would make the world a better place. She's a very quirky teacher who always takes negativity & spins it to the positive which is gold. William is a walking bitter pill from life's hits, and he's all kinds of doom & gloom which I could actually relate to despite some behavior issues from him. They come face to face when he literally knocks her off of her feet, and while his rudeness irritated me, I still saw fate having a hand in all of this since William desperately NEEDS Megan in his life (but who doesn't?). With laughter, emotional moments, and just plain fun, this story is definitely a story for a reader's happy place, so check it out for yourselves! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I received a copy from BookSprout; this is my honest review. -I liked how they met and met and met again by "accident". LOL. That was funny. Someone's doesn't have any luck and I was trying to figure out who's fault it was: Will or Megan? -I really loved how the situation at the Court was handled and finally put to rest. People will fight you anything if they know you have money. -Speaking of which, they never talked about Megan's money - her trust fund, etc. - which I think was lacking because it seemed to be something important in her life. -I liked the many quotes Megan had but at around 80% in, I had quite enough. It should have been done sparingly for us to enjoy more. -I liked the light-bulb moment when William finally realized he didn't go for second-best since he loves what he's doing right now. -I'm hoping to read Portia's story next but the author didn't bring us to her specifically.
A.wonderfully fun and entertaining book. Poor William, he is convinced that he is the poster boy for bad luck; he is trying to rebuild his life after a tragic event, but things still seem to be headed wrong. Enter Megan, a preschool teacher who sees rainbows, silver linings and lemonade fixings everywhere. William and Megan come together over a dog and then there are some misunderstandings which threaten to tear them apart. Throw in some more dogs, some well meaning friends, some tears and a lot of laughs and you have Teddy Cat Hester's new Bowser Belles book. Each can be read as a stand alone, but are even more fun when read as a continuing series. This book had me laughing, crying, outraged, heartbroken and cheering. I highly recommend it and the other Bowser Belle books.

4 Stars I received a free copy of the novel Learn to Love: Sycamore Hill Missouri Sweet Romances: Bowser Belles Book 3 by Teddy Cat Hester and this review was given freely. Vivid, alliterative, playful with some off the wall phrases and descriptions fill the pages of this rocky romance with a happy ending featuring the continued friendship of the Bowser Belles, their men and their dogs. Recently divorced and bitter ex California pro golfer William Love and eclectic preschool teacher, former service dog trainer and heiress Megan Pennybaker find themselves irritated by yet at the same time attracted to each other when a series of accidents and near misses bring them together until a battle over an ajorning piece of land causes William to doubt Megan.

I enjoyed this one. I love a book that has animals and in this one they add so much to the story for me. Especially Pal, you can't judge a breed by it's stereotype set by society. He's a very heartwarming part of the book. I loved Megan right off the bat. Her personality is what drew me right in.Then throw in grumpy William. You have a recipe for a great book. William has a streak of bad luck, but he finds the silver lining with the help of Megan. I loved how Megan brings out a different side to William that he thought would never come out to play again. The epilogue was the cherry on the top for this book.
Awaited the next installment in this series and loved it as much as the other books by TCH. I have been following her through all her books and love the upbeat style which always puts a smile on my face as i read it. Enjoyed another one, thanks TCH...
I loved Megan & William! Its a true opposites attract love story and with each page I found a smile on my face. Plus the dogs! I loved them. I really enjoyed the fact that this was a sweeter book. It was such an amazing escape and I loved every moment!
Wow. William's cloudy persona is seen right off and quickly explained. Yeah, he's been unlucky. But going in Megan is all rainbows and unicorns. We get to see the hurt that put that persona on her. Poor sweetie.
Together they make a great team. Will they get there without killing each other?
The journey to love for William & Megan had it's challenges and past wounds to overcome. This story had a lot of laugh out loud moments. I loved Megan's two dogs and William's one at how they bonded as friends & companions. Fun story for dog lovers.
Loved it. I must read the first two in this series. Adorable dogs. Cute couple. Fun friends. Light, quick read romance. Squeaky clean and delightful. Thanks to Booksprout for providing a copy for my voluntary review.
I think these neighbors both have a good heart, they just bump heads a little when it comes to their individual outlook on life. They provide relatable examples on how to handle things when they go a bit off course. I think Megan should've been more forthcoming but their HEA was very sweet.
Megan and Will have one hilarious encounter after another. As they are thrown together more and more, they both learn it's ok to depend upon each other ~

This is the first book from this author that I have read. While it is the third book of a series, it was perfectly understood as a stand-alone. I enjoyed getting to know the Bower Belles. A group of ladies friends who get together with their dogs.
This story is about pre-school teacher, Megan Pennybaker, and ex-pro golfer, William Love. These two are complete opposites. Megan has a bright sunshine outlook of life. When things go wrong and you are handed lemons, she makes lemonade. William on the other hand has been dealt a rough hand of late. He was injured in an accident that ended his golfing career and ultimately his marriage. Bad things always seem to happen to him so he a grumpy, unpleasant man.
Seeing how the author gets these two together was a story that had me laughing at times and saddened at others. The internal look into Megan's POV, was hilarious with her cute and funny sayings (most I have used myself). Seeing William's POV, really endeared the character to me.
This was a really sweet, clean romance. There were a just a few kisses and nothing else. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more from this author. I can highly recommend this story to anyone.
