Can I Dance With You is my second level 1 Chinese Breeze reader, and I enjoyed it. From the cover, I was expecting a romcom but it was more about a bank manager falsely accused of theft. The character development isn't great here, and we never learn the motivations of the thieves. The plot is wrapped up very easily and some of the transitions are a little jarring.
Still, I'm quibbling a lot; it's a graded reader, and the story is quite good for the writing level. As with the other Chinese Breeze story I read, there is the occasional bit that feels like an excuse to bring out bits of textbook vocabulary, but that's fine. I really like that this series includes free access to audio recordings.
This was my second level 1 Chinese Breeze graded reader. The range and use of vocabulary as well as the use of longer sentences were useful. Character and plot are decent but unfortunately not very entertaining; there were also plot holes. The flow of the plot jumped quite a bit. It would have been nice to discover the motive of the real thief and to have explored the background of characters. Overall, it is quite good compared to other graded readers.
