People are never who you think they are.
The first time I saw her, she was watching me from a bedroom window. A mournful witness as I shoved her mother’s lifeless body in the trunk.
The next time, it was me watching her atop a pedestal. On display like those glass curios, my mother loved so much. Turning like a little ballerina in a jewelry box while her stepfather tried to sell her to the highest bidder.
A victim playing at scamp, her eyes told the truth.
Regrettably, I looked away and lost her.

My mind..is still blown!This book is freaking incredible!I laughed,I cried,I held onto the edge of my seat for dear life!Beautifully written with incredible characters!Nero and Chrysalis are the kind of love you sigh for.This action packed beauty will leave you crying into your pillow,then clutching your heart and never wanting it to end.This is a story of triumph over the chaos life throws your way.Of sweet,kind yet sassy Chrysalis blooming from a scared caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly and i enjoyed every second of it!Keep on the lookout for The polka dot queen Angie Brashears!She's one author you'd be a fool to miss out on!

A dark and gripping tale!
The characters are fun and pop off the page. I enjoyed immensely there is two POVs and we get a fuller look at what motivates them. Their chemistry was fire. The darkness that surrounded them was beautifully detailed and easy to get lost in. The story pushes forward dragging me on a wild ride I never wanted to end. It’s a gripping tale with passion you can feel in your bones.

This book is all the things!!! Romance, suspense, tears and laughter. Edge of your seat moments that will have you flipping pages too fast. You really get to know the characters and grow attached to them. I couldn't put it down from start to finish! A great, five star, must read by Angie!

An emotional riptide!
The pain and agony that Chrysalis goes through were almost unending. I wanted to hug the girl and yell at the author! So many things had my stomach in knots and wanting to throw the book across the room. The hero is more of an anti-hero but I won't say any more about that.
When she finally catches a break you want to breathe for her. Then you wait for that other shoe to drop.
I would call the novel more thriller than romance, though there is romance here...eventually.
This is my first novel by Angie Brashears but it will not be my last. She redeemed herself well in the end.

This book grabbed my attention from the beginning. It gave me the feels, I laughed, I got teary eyed, it kept me on the edge of my seat at times I loved the characters, I had my suspicions on one part of the story and was right, but it didn't take anything from the story. I had mixed feelings on Nero and Ned. Thank Angie for a great read! It took me a long time to read because life has been crazy and I couldn't concentrate as much as I wanted to while reading this book.
This is only my 2nd 5 star read for the year.

I really enjoyed this book. It grabbed me from the very first chapter. You get a little bit of everything in this book. To me it was a little bit darker then this author usually writes and I enjoyed it! You fall in love with Chrysalis and Nero and you love to hate Roman! The auxiliary characters were great! I kind of want to know more of their stories. Which I believe book 2 we get one! I really am looking forward to seeing where this story goes next!

This book is an amazing mix of suspense, humor, passion and angst and keeps you flipping to the next page while sitting on the edge of your seat. This is my first time reading this author and I am glad I gave Wild Card a chance. This is a dark enemies to lovers romance which is one of my favorite troupes and told in the POV format. We get to understand the motives of both characters and how they battle their darkness. Incredible writing and lots of emotion. A must read!

At first I wasn’t sure about it. There were some things at the start that I wasn’t sure i would be Abel to read about. However, I love this author and her books. I am so glad I did. It is the kind of book you think you know what direction it is going to go and it doesn’t. I loved the Las Vegas scene. Plus who doesn’t love a strong woman making it on her own.

Wild Card
After meeting this author at a signing in Long Beach, I decided to give her books a try, and I’m so glad I did!! This book is about the journey of a young girl named Chrysalis, and when you think of the definition of what a chrysalis is- the hard outer covering protecting the caterpillar as it becomes a beautiful butterfly!! This book is very intense and at times I was so engrossed that I literally forgot about what was going on around me! Like complete tunnel vision!! If you want to read a book about a character that has every reason to give up, but perseveres instead, then this is the book for you! I loved this book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
