پینک فلوید، با توجّه به موسیقیِ وجودی و سینمایی‌اش، به یکی از تأثیرگذارترین و شناخته‌شده‌ترین گروه‌های راک در طول تاریخ بدل شد. آنها با ایجاد یک‌جور «کِرِخی دلپذیر» در مخاطبان به چنین مقامی نرسیده‌اند؛ این جایگاه حاصل برآشفتن، به‌هم‌ریختن، به پرسش گرفتن و انتقاد کردن است. و اگر هنوز چیزی دارد از دست‌ات می‌گریزد، ای پرتو خورشید، شاید بتوانی در کتاب پینک فلوید و فلسفه به چنگ‌اش بیاوری.

Pink Floyd is not just a band for burnt-out hippie potheads. The one chapter missing from this book... a chapter devoted to Roger Waters socialist politics. Then again, if this was written by American "Philosophers" you can't expect they'd know anything about socialism.

Pink Floyd, at their peak, remains for me somehow larger than life. So I used a gift certificate to pick this book up, after a quick perusal suggested it could actually be interesting. The first essay in the book, by the editor, is actually a quite interesting deconstruction of the oeuvre. The next few essays weren't so hot, but I'm sure I'll pick it up again and read more of them.

I was interested in this book because I'm a fan of Pink Floyd. It would've definitely helped if I had a better knowledge of philosophy basics before reading this. It just didn't make any sense to me.

وقتي پينك فلويد مادر قلب اتمي را در سال 1970 منتشر كرد، وارد مرحله اي تازه از شكوفايي اش شد. اين اولين آلبوم پسا- روان گردانانه گروه است؛ سوئيت اصلي در يك طرف صفحه، كه گروه و ران گيزين مشتركا تصنيف اش كرده اند، شامل يك كُر و اركستر كامل مي شود. در اين آلبوم، گروه بخش هاي شبه مستقل را بسط و گسترش مي دهد و به موومان هاي تمام عيار بدل مي كند؛ موومان هايي كه بي وقفه و بدون سكوت به دنبال يكديگر مي آيند و تم اصلي (كه يادآور تم يك فيلم وسترن است) در نقاط كليدي يادآوري مي شوند. با اينكه در كيفيت بعضي از اين دستمايه هاي تماتيك جاي شك و ترديد وجود دارد، تنظيم گشاده دستانه اين اثر بسياري وقت ها باعث شده بهتر از آنچه لياقت اش را دارد به گوش برسد و جريان ساختاري از يك موومان به موومان بعدي خوب منعقد شده است.

Pink Floyd, seperti tipikal band inggris kebanyakan yang unik, progresif, cerdas, skill full dan inovatif. tapi mendengar sekilas barisan discography Pink Floyd sepertinya jauh dari cukup untuk memahami apa yang di bawa pink floyd dalam musiknya dan kemana musik mereka membawa pendengarnya. band yang lahir di tahun 60an ini adalah artefak berharga dari benih etintas pop culture yang tumbuh subur kemudian. kegilaan pertunjukan mereka di tahun 60, ekperimentasi dan ekplorasi beragam synthesizer hingga membawa seni visual sebagai elemen penting dalam pertunjukan dan kemasan "seni suara".

syntheizer yang belakangan merevolusi kreatifitas beragam musisi di pandang hanya sebagai simulasi suara bagi pink floyd. dalam buku ini, terbit tahun 2007, bab ke bab mengelaborasi mengenai pop culture secara general, dan rock n roll pink floyd secara spesifik. bagi floydians buku ini banyak di bilang sebagai asupan yg setara pentingnya dengan screening "the wall the movie" di 2010.

kegilaan, pshychedelic dan epidemic yang di pertontonkan pink floyd di UFO club tahun 60an bermetamorfosis menjadi karya ber-aura megah "Dark side of the moon" 80an yang penuh orkestra dan lirik filosofis. menjadikan existensialism, dinamika hingga kinematika karya2 Pink Floyd sangat menarik dan menjadikan mereka salah satu dari band yang paling berpengaruh.

filasafat mereka juga tumbuh dari yang paling dasar mengenai hidup-mati,konflik golongan dan isme di Dark side of the moon. kekuasaan, keterasingan, kehilangan, perang dingin hingga edukasi sebagai alat "thought control" dalam "the wall", atau mengenai kehidupan kapitalis yang di gambarkan menjadi tokoh2 fabel dalam "animals".

yang jelas, mereka tidak membiarkan audiens nya larut dalam "comfortably numb" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQWszr...). tapi membuka perspektif dan pemikiran kritis. buku ini juga membahas eperti apa hubungan antara ke gilaan, kemarahan dgn kreatifitas. bagaimana identitas sebuah band berkembang seiring tumbuhnya kedewasaan audiens mereka, apa yang bisa di pelajari dari sinkronitas Dark side of the moon dan Wizard of Oz. hingga bagaimana nietszhe mempengaruhi syd barrett. Good money spinner this. Put the Pink Floyd on the cover than, concentrating mainly on Dark Side and afterwards including the Waters almost solos, and then watch the lucre flow in.

It's OK, written by people who don not know too much about Floyd from the point of origin and who are not au fait with all of the catalogue and the bootlegs. Good for a bit of a wheeze. Seeing them live before the 60 pound gorilla came along were some of the best shows I have ever seem and experienced...heard is not descriptive enough.

I am sure that they mean well but as they say in History of the World in relation to stand up philosophers..."did you bullshit last night". Readers familiar with Monty Python's The Phiosopher's Song will know what I think...

This is a book that can be misconstrued in a number of ways. It's not entirely about Pink Floyd, nor is it really for a Floyd fan interested in reading about the band. This is actual philosophical interpretations of the music, often relating to other theories and philosophers. It can be dense at times due to this.

However, with that said, I loved this book. Some essays were a bit dry or repetitive, but overall there are some very interesting comparisons here that illuminate not only Floyd's music, but also some really important philosophical themes.

Some of the essays in this collection are better than others. Overall, a very interesting read, even if you are not the biggest Floyd fan. Many of the philosophical questions presented are very interesting in their own right, but the connections to Floyd add an interesting twist to the thinking. Recommended for the Floyd Fan, for sure

Each chapter is written by a different author. Some are very boring, some read like a term paper (one compares the album Animals to the book Animal Farm - very interesting) Some of the chapters are more psychodelic-y than I would like, but over all, I enjoyed the book.

This was dissapointing. There are just some essays of forced philosophy with very little to do with Pink Floyd. It felt like the authors just wanted to beat about the bush.

‫وقتی برای نخستین بار جلد کتاب رو توی غرفهٔ نشر لگا دیدم، با خودم گفتم ای بابا، یه محصول دیگه برای زدن جیب هوادارها. ولی یه ورق زدن کوتاه کافی بود تا بفهمم سخت در اشتباه بودم و این کتابیه که باید بخونمش.

‫چندین فیلسوف مختلف که همگی خودشون هوادار پینک فلویدن، پینک‌فلوید رو بهانه‌ای قرار دادن تا مباحث فلسفی رو در قالبی قابل درک به مخاطب عرضه کنن.

‫روند پیشرفت کتاب خیلی خوبه و با این که نویسنده‌های هر بخش افراد مختلفین، خود رایش خیلی جدی پی‌گیر بوده تا سیر کتاب منطقی پیش بره و البته در ورطهٔ بازگویی هم نیفته.

‫ترجمهٔ کتاب هم خیلی درخشان و خوبه و گرچه من خودم به عنوان کسی که دستی بر آتش ترجمهٔ پینک‌فلوید داره، ممکنه در بعضی جاها نظر متفاوتی با مترجم داشته باشم،‌ ترجمه رو بسیار دقیق و منطقی دیدم.

‫تنها دلیلی که به خاطرش به کتاب پنج ستاره نمی‌دم، رسم‌الخط عجیب، غیراستاندارد و غلطیه که تاب باهاش نوشته شده. زبان و به دنبالش نگارش، وسیله‌ای برای ارتباط بین انسان‌هاست و انتظار زیادی نیست اگه بخوایم کسی با نوشتن یک مطلب، ارتباط رو سخت‌تر نکنه. چیزی که متأسفّانه تو این کتاب اتّفاق افتاده بود و هر بار که توی کتاب می‌دیدم برای نمونه «پیدایت کنم» رو نوشته «پیدای‌ات کنم» انگاه با ناخن بلند روی تختهٔ‌توی مغزم محکم می‌کشیدن!

I would say Pink Floyd is a rather intellectual band. Why not apply some philosophical thesis on their music? In this anthology of philosophical articles you'll see how the band from Pompeii to set the controls for the heart of philosophy. Echoes as proof of concept, the dub side of the moon, we don't need no interpretation and indoctrination, Pink Floyd as cinema, alienation and the pressure of life, the LSD factor, existential encounters, a saucerful of skepticism, the art of insanity, Barrett between Nietzsche and Benjamin. Well, their music is timeless and with all that philosophical background you get a glimpse of why that might be. Not an easy read but very mind opening. You'll see the music in a new context and this makes the book definitely worth a reading. Highly recommended!

We all know We like Pink Floyd and their music, and this book looks at what it is about their music which resonates with such a wide audience and what were the oft-recurring themes of the music (madness, alienation, celebrityism...) The music of Pink Floyd is incredibly nuanced and after reading this, i feel i have a better idea what i've been listening to for all these years.

I found the book a bit of a stretch. Maybe I'm not the philosopher's type, but I am sure Pink Floyd did not intend to put that much depth into the lyrics of their songs than the authors seem to suggest. If Pink Floyd had not become world famous, no authors would have searched that much into the lyrics.
