Escaping the Mafia #1

One Reason To Kill

Rate this book
Hello, Broken.
Meet, Damaged.
You two have a lot in common.

All I wanted was another Hannah. I never cared about the secret society, or the people here, or the money. I only pledged because of her. Because this was her life, and I wanted to be in it forever, but forever never came.

So, I live in the past with the memories of the girl I loved. I chase her ghost until the bottom of every bottle and search for her embrace in every wrong girl. I drown out her voice with the beat of my drums and the roar of my bike, but it’s only temporary. When I am sober, the loss kills me.

Until I met her. Lexington. Whoever said opposites attract got the fundamental laws of attraction mixed up. I wasn’t supposed to fall for the equally messed-up, anonymous one-night stand, but she understands my pain, and she saves me from it.
And from the Mafia.

I was sucked right from the beginning just from reading the blurb and then I couldn't put it down once I started reading the story. It's short but packs so much that I felt everything. This is also a new author for me and now I am hooked. These are two broken souls that find what they needed and what they were missing in each other.

I discovered an interesting phenomenon about 2 years ago where authors all come together to write a series from different couples, and I LOVE IT! Not only does it provide me a ton of new authors, but the stories never get repetitive throughout. Evelyn Kiss kicked it all off with One Reason to Kill, and while at times I got confused with all the characters, it didn't take away from the story. It's a short(ish) story which packs a HUGE punch, and I couldn't get enough of it. I'm not about to get into details, since I went in blind, I've decided that it's the way to go, and yes, it's only my opinion, but this this is where I am. The twists are crazy, f-bomb dropping worthy moments that kept me guessing, while the two broken souls who found each other, actually hit me in the feels. So, hit those one click buttons as I go off to the next book! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I try hard to give each book a chance. The premise of this series sounds good to me, but I couldn't get past the first chapter of this one. I skimmed through the next few in an effort to let it get interesting, but I couldn't go on. I have no idea who these characters are, their speech is stilted, the secondary characters are rude to the FMC for no reason... There was never a point where I felt the plot clicked. According to my Kindle app, it's only a 50 minute read, but even that was too much time for me.

I decided to read the entire series because of how much i enjoyed one of the books that was from a favorite author and I am so glad I did. He just wanted out. Nothing had gone according to plan and now he was stuck. His entire reason for joining was gone and so was his heart. She was done. All she needed was her job and her friend and she would be fine. No more guys who didn't appreciate her. One night changes everything for them and not all of it good. A great fast paced tale from a new to me author who I will need to read more from. Loved it and can't wait to see what happens next.

Loved. Loved. Loved. These characters. Lexi's witty and cut the shit. The banter made me feel like I was back in college dealing with all the shit. I have read about the dragons and know exactly who Dax and Ace are. All the characters belong to the society, which is different and I really love it. The music angle sold it for me, with Santi. "Burn burn burn..."

I can't wait for Maddox's introduction.

Being the first book in a story there is the struggle to introduce characters and the continuing story line. I struggle with the amount of characters, many having two names! I loved how Lexi stood up for herself, while Chains had to grow on me. On to the next book

I read these books within 3 days. I didn’t even put them down long enough to write my reviews. Each book is by a different author, this book was my absolute favorite. I love mafia books and this one is great! You don’t want to let it slip by.

Really hard to follow. It was a scattered kind of writing style & I don’t understand most of it or the characters. Then when i finally felt the development in the two MCs it ended.

This first book in the Escaping the Mafia series hooked me from the first page. The readers get a good base story and characters that I'm eager to see how their journeys play out. I'm diving into book two, Two to the Back, by Cam Johns now!
