Lillian Gale has taken ownership of the famous Big River saloon in the Utah Territory, since her husband’s passing. When a powerful rancher’s son is found dead behind her saloon, all fingers point at her. There is no doubt that someone wants Lillian behind bars. Luckily for her, Boone Travers, the sheriff of the town, will do whatever it takes to rescue his good friend and the woman he is falling in love with. Will Lillian manage to escape from a dangerous trap, or will she be sentenced for a crime that she never committed?
With the real killer out there, no one in town can sleep peacefully. Boone is determined to shed light on the mystery and find out who committed this bloody crime. For now, he has no choice but to arrest Lillian, as she will be safer in prison. Boone knows deep inside that he will solve the case and that Lillian’s terrible nightmare will end for good. Will he eventually find out who set Lillian up and serve justice, or will he fail to complete his most challenging missions?
The trial tears the town apart and sparks a range war between local ranchers and the neighboring Navajo people. Blood feuds become complicated, and lives are pitted against one another in an epic clash of power and passion, love and loyalty. In the end, will Boone arrest the vicious killer and help Lillian celebrate the clearing of her name?

An AG. Utah Western Action Adventure (BAMITS) (AHWAB)
AG. has penned a Utah western action adventure titled, "Blood and Mystery in the Saloon" which begins with a farmers homestead being burned the ground. The farmer and his wife are killed by Navajo Indians. The daughter is caught by white men who plan to take her and sell her in Mexico. The Sheriff and his Deputy approach the Navajo's and find they do not have the girl. The Sheriff keeps digging and in the mean time the biggest ranchers son is murdered. This brings the town out in full force against the Sheriffs paramour. They head to trial. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
Overall a good and enjoyable book. I thought I had figured out who the murderer was, but I wasn't even close. The latter third of the book was a bit confusing though, where Marvin suddenly became Melvin, and Mark became Mike in the middle of a conversation and then Mark again. The latter third of the book also had some typos and missing words or double words that made it harder to read, but as I said, overall it was a good and enjoyable book.
Historical fiction? What was historical?? Did you think you were rewriting Dante 's Inferno? Do you want to be a preacher?? Were you mocking current politics in the White House. What kind of research was done? Mexicans came into Arizona during that time period, not Utah. Saloons with fancy ladies--in Southern Utah? Lol. The blood bath between the Navajo and town folks was disgusting, and was shody at best. I've read most of your books and enjoyed them. This was not a western and had no historical accuracy at all.
There’s a lot going on in this book. Poor Lillian couldn’t catch a break; Sheriff Boone is busy from the beginning; and, Indians are involved with ranchers in the area. All this makes for a great read that took us back to early old western days. (I do know that when my hubby is involved in the read, I can’t get him to put the book down.) There are many scenes of harsh reality of what the ranchers went through and how lawmen lost their lives in protecting the new citizens as they came west. It a great book and we loved it.
The story delivered such a brilliant story of raw action! It wasn’t even just one event but a series of intertwined yet totally different struggles from different sides. It would have been overwhelming but the way it was written was absolutely brilliant! The rules of nature and the cultural divide and clashes of the time period were incorporated really well.
This is the story of a young man whose father is very wealthy and owns lots of land. He is murdered and found out behind the saloon, when found by the saloon owner she is charged and jailed. Only to be later found not guilty. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
This was a fun book to read. There is plenty of ongoing action and intrigue to keep a reader interested and entertained. Grayson did a great job of bringing together several pieces of the story at the end in a rapid-fire conclusion. If you like action westerns, you will enjoy this book. I rated it four stars for the fun and the tying together loose ends.
Austin Grayson took a saloon,a small town,a sheriff and a madam and turned them into a story that wreaks of power gone bad and a condemned relationship turned upside down to become a great love story!
Blood and Mystery in the Saloon A Historical Western Adventure Book
This is a very good story and adventure it is action packed with murder kidnapping and a innocent young woman violated and then a range war but love survives. This author writes very well
Action with murders kidnappings and Indian attacks
Lots of action with brave men and a few brave women. This book is full of unexpected twists and turns you won't expect. Lots of violence so be prepared for heart wrenching and blood pumping action as you get into it.
Great book, I really enjoy your books. This was very interexting, kept you on your toes to figure out what came next. You have a way of bringing your characters to life.
This shouldn't have been written in the method it was. The amount of words does not make a story. This seemed to go on and on with description and simple things are expounded upon way too much.
If you like western you will really like this book. See if you can guess the killer before revealed. I didn't. The Sheriff is strong on the law and it is tested. It has fighting, women and indians. It will be a reread several times over.
Wow, what a great story! Loved reading all the events that pulled together to cause all the trouble with the Indians and the ranchers. Love Boone and Lillian. The life they lived was not easy but in their own ways they wanted justice and love. They find it together. Great job on this story Austin!
Always good. But this was not at your best. I enjoy your books. Didn't seem your style. But was still good. Daniel was killed off to soon. Though he should have gone after carolina. But looking forward to your next one JD
