C. G. Cooper is the USA TODAY and AMAZON BESTSELLING author of the CORPS JUSTICE novels, several spinoffs and a growing number of stand-alone novels.

One of his novels, CHAIN OF COMMAND, won the 2020 James Webb Award presented by the Marine Heritage Foundation for its portrayal of the United States Marine Corps in fiction. Cooper doesn't chase awards, but this one was special.

Cooper grew up on a steady diet of Dungeons & Dragons and the travels of a Navy family.

Upon graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in Foreign Affairs, Cooper was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps and went on to serve six years as an infantry officer. C. G. Cooper's final Marine duty station was in Nashville, Tennessee, where he fell in love with the laid-back lifestyle of Music City.

His first published novel, BACK TO WAR, came out of a desire to link back to his time in the Marine Corps. That novel, written as a side project, spawned many follow-on novels, several exciting spinoffs, and catapulted Cooper's career.

Cooper lives just south of Nashville with his wife, three children, and their German shorthaired pointer, Liberty, who's become a popular character in the Corps Justice novels.

This is the 16th in Cooper's Corps Justice series. I have read all of the previous books in the series. I must say that this one was very disappointing. Cooper is not a great writer, in fact he can hardly be considered a good writer. So why, you ask, have I read these books? The answer is that they are simple adventure stories about patriotic Americans doing good deeds which tends to make me feel good. The fact that they are included with Kindle Unlimited and I don't have to pay for them is also a plus since I spend too much on good books.

This episode (I call it an "episode" rather than a novel because it is a continuation of a story which which was not completed in Book 15 and does not conclude in this one), is disjointed, has too many character stories that jump around in time and space (come on man: 136 chapters in 358 pages!) and none of the stories, including the main one, come to a satisfying conclusion. I am still debating whether I care enough about this series to read the next installment which is being released in October. I always feel compelled to finish a book, even a bad one, so I probably will.

I have read all the books in the Corps Justice series and found The Man from Belarus to be the worst of the bunch. I've historically given 4 and 5-star reviews but this time, I almost closed the book for good at a third of the way in. I found myself confused and wondered what was taking place. There was no action, and the most taking place was the posturing of people around the world. The author switched back and forth in time to follow the whereabouts of Cal's father to determine whether or not he committed adultery. A battle does take place in the final chapters and I was still wondering who was good and who was bad.

I'm hoping that C.G. Cooper returns with another installment that focuses on Cal and his merry men as he did in all the rest. Sorry, but this one left me disappointed.

Clearly I am odd man out in rating this so low at 3 stars. What may be called character development by others .... I see as boring navel gazing - especially with respect to Diane. Cooper uses a writing device bouncing around different point of view story lines (Volkov, Lena, Yegorovich as well as as the team ) as well as flipping back and forth in time. I found I had to work too hard to keep all the characters straight. He finally brings all the stories together with an ending where the pace increased and became more interesting at the end ... and but I found it tedious and wondered where it all was going for most of the book.

The Belarusian is a Good Guy?

What a book? It took some following. From the 80s to the present day and back again but as long as you could follow, you were good. The background had to be told in order to make sense of the whole story. But what a story? Poor Cal. Will he ever find out the truth about his Dad? A lot of action in this one and a few twists and turns. Great excitement. A must read.

The Man From Belarus is the sixteenth book in the Corps Justice series. This can be read as a standalone but I wouldn't recommend that. You will miss out on who the characters are and the overall storyline. There is violence.

This book is a fantastic way to get back to the story of Cal and the rest of The Jefferson Group. There are a bunch of twists and turns to watch out for. This is a book that was hard to put down.

I was overjoyed to see the newest book from the Corps Justice Group written my CG Cooper! What a wonderful way to brighten what's been a pretty dull lockdown time for us here in Melbourne Australia.

I have read all of the other Corps Justice books in the series, and this one doesn't disappoint. All of our surviving group from the previous books are with us again during this long awaited book.

In this book, we find out more about Cal's father's background and the reality of being a human as well as a being a soldier who is away from his family. I think during the past few books, Cal's eyes have been getting opened and his views upon his hero father are now starting to bring that hero worship down to human levels.

The storyline answers some of the questions which readers had in the past few books and you can see Cal healing from the horrors of the prior books as well.

For current readers of CG Cooper, you will NOT be disappointed in this read unless you count when the book ended.

For readers who are wondering if you should get this book and read it, I would highly recommend it, although I would start with the first 1-3 books which are free as the history of the Corps Justice group is one you will like and will help you understand this storyline more.

It's well worth the read.

The man from Belarus is a good read.

The man from Belarus is a good read and enjoyable. The story line is not as detailed as the past books but does have a familiarity that's fun. I do miss the in depth buildup in past reads. It seems as though Cooper is asking the reader to use our imagination more and more. Example: some one shoots a infiltrator inside Jefferson's secured base that's trying to kill cal and the reader is left to figure how the killer gets inside or who sent him. I don't like it when I as a reader is left to make up the story line. Maybe I'm a little picky but I expect a little more effort and details this the reason of four stars. Enjoyable

Reading Corps Justice #16, The Man From Belarus, has to be one of CG Cooper's best books of the series to date. His characters are always well defined and the book's pace takes off at top speed! The chapters are written to keep the pace moving, short but full of spins and turns that continually keep you guessing, what's next?
This is another Cooper book that you need to buckle your seat belt because you will not put it down! You will definitely need to take a deep breath after you finish this latest journey of Cal and team!

This is a book where it really takes awhile to figure out what is happening. I think Cooper was counting on his fans to carry him into this book. I wouldn’t recommend it if you haven’t been a regular of his books. Naturally all his regulars know all the characters from previous books but if you don’t you are lost. Then this book is very choppy, with all these short chapters jumping all over the place. It is not that of an engaging story and continually jumping 30 plus years back and forth make it a difficult read. At 80% into the book and I have no idea what I should be excited about, it sucks. A good number of his readers think this is great, I just like a tight knit story and I don’t see this as one. Best guess this is a 3.

Another great book in the Corps Justice series

I was in rehab recovering from Covid-19 and read all sixteen books in the Corps Justice series.

I found that the latest book in the series, The Man From Belarus, was another thriller from C. G. Cooper. Indeed, it kept me reading and constantly trying to guess what was coming next in the story.

And no, I was unable to do so. In addition, I was constantly surprised as I watched the pages passing my eyes.

You should read the book and see if you found the same things I did.

More twists than a bucket of eels!

Cal Stokes and the erstwhile members of TJG are back. Coming out of the cold ( at least to non-frigid) and trying to find answers. Not a good book to start - unless you enjoy edge of your seat action and intrigue! Briggs, Top, Gaucho and, of course Liberty are there to support Cal and President Zimmer try to find some light in the morass of international politics.

The Man from Belarus. C.G. Cooper

Cal Stokes past or rather that of his father's has come back to haunt him. Old wounds rekindled. His father Sergeant Major Stokes was set up by a CIA officer named Flap. A traitor a back stabber. He tried to ruin Stokes father's career. He's also appears to be in the pocket of the Russian president. Now he has been appointed as Director of the CIA. This book is full of twists and turns to the very last page. An excellent read!!

Another amazing read

What a roller coaster ride. You get to see the characters you have missed and love. The story line keeps you guessing what next chapter to chapter. Can't wait for the next book in the series. Me Cooper's books are amazingly well written I normally can't put his books down and finish in one or two settings. This book was no different started Wednesday evening finished Thursday evening. Great job Mr. Cooper.

It was a long awaited book that I had forgotten who was who. I dislike it when years are in between books it’s not a good look for any authors. I will read the next however my interest in the series isn’t like it use to be. The story line went like the last book not the next book is like reading the first one. Disappointed in already I see where it’s going after years in between these last 2 books. A shame that this likely like 1st and 2 bd book

Another great one.

I have enjoyed every one of the Corps Justice novels, and this latest one is a little different, but quite excellent. Cal shows more emotions, Daniel is as calm and cool as ever. Top and Groucho are always hilarious. Nice action and more history of Cal senior. I just can’t wait for the next one.

On the edge of my seat

First I love this series, actually I have read everything out by C.G. Cooper and I love them all. Mr. Cooper brings an amazing storyline to every book he puts out. Attention to detail and characters you can't help but feel like you know them. Cal Stokes is one of those characters. I can't wait for October to get here.

COS rides again!

Mr.Cooper always finds a wrinkle I history; of his characters, and u s mere human's.
I especially enjoy C.G.'s handling of poignant tragedy. It's happens in all our lives, how this story deals with it , I found thought provoking.
Justice prevails. But not without a price. Hoo-Rah!

Another Keeper!

All of the Corps Justice novels have held my interest from the first. Cooper is a gifted storyteller who tease you into reading just one more page. And then another. It was great getting caught back up with Cal and the gang and I look forward to many more adventures.

Not a fan of this Cal Stokes & crew book. I found it to be very confusing and hard to stay interested because of all the flip flopping between different characters and different time periods. Chapters were very short and the whole storyline felt disjointed & unfinished. I was left with lots of questions. Hoping the next book in the series will flow more smoothly.

Awesome read

I love this author and his books. They have lots of detail describing the scene of the story. I can never seem to put the book down while reading the suspenseful and action of the characters and their place in the story. I have all of his books. He is one of my favorite authors and I tell everyone about his books.

You want something that will keep you on your toes the whole time, then this is the book you need. O course there are only 15 more just like it that were written before this one.. plus the 4 about one of the characters and then the other 2 about a totally different scenerio....

Cooper has got a good thing going.. so much action, so much reality...

I cheered and I cried. I have gone through the series on multiple occasions and become so attached to all of the characters. This is another great example of CG's writing.

Action and suspense everywhere

This book flashes back and forth between the 1980s and present doing a fairly good job of wrapping it together. Another loss as if any of us could handle this. Great series

What a great story! So complex!

I have always enjoyed the Corps Justice adventures and to have all these fingers of previous stories intertwined is genius...and is that a cliffhanger???

The man from Belarus

Typical Russian vs US spy story with side effects of the team trying to get to the bottom of the mystery. Left me confused as to how so many all-knowing agents can make so many mistakes.

Very well written with a few surprises . Worthy of your time to read

The book is well written and gives you some excitement. The author has some good knowledge of the military and its working. Now kidnapping a Russian President is a bit far fetch. Good job.

Another super addition

This is another super addition to the Cal Stokes series of books. I have been reading another others collection of books for a while, and very enjoyable they have been. But, picking up one of C.G's books again is a total pleasure.
