What's a little blackmail between friends? Well, apparently it's even more fun when it's between enemies who have the undeniable hot's for one another!

Donna Alam has a fabulous knack for throwing her characters into dubious, precarious and often riotous situations that just have you sitting back with a glass of wine and thinking.."Ohhh yeah, this is gonna be good!"

Heather needs a plus one for the office wedding of the year, and Archer could use a little less attention drawn to his Casanova ways; or at least that's as Heather sees it, and so what better way to solve both their problems than with a little mutually beneficial blackmail?
Only their fake relationship is likely to lead to a shedding of clothes, inhibitions and the ultimate risk...her heart.

Archer Powell is an unabashedly flirtatious rogue, cheeky and "one of the lads", but this man is also chivalrous to his core and has the huge, loyal heart of a lion.
Oh, and the tall dark and handsome part isn't lost on Heather either!

Where in contrast, Heather comes across as the office Ice Queen, different even in her retro siren image, so assimilation in the judgey office she works in is already walled off for her.
It's no surprise there is something different about her, and I loved her brash way as a result of what makes her special.
And evidently so does our hero, and he is absolutely just that in this story for Heather.

"My body following hers is as natural as the tides."
As is this author's ability to put the reader in the mood, in the scene and to feel the heat; you're right there in the story too.

It's so easy to get taken away with the characters in Donna's books; to laugh with them, at them, cry with them, swoon with them, be nervous for them, and cheer for them.
So go ahead and do just that, you won't regret it!
This is easily a feel good 5 Star read for me!!

The Stand Out by Donna Alam a five-star read that will stand out in your memory for a long time. This once again proves why Donna Alam writes men that just knock all the boys out of the park. My, my, my I have never been so eager to read and stuck not able to, yesterday this dropped to my kindle before the busiest day in my life!! No sneaky reading for me at lunch. Que getting home and just being so ignorant as I was reading so don’t be speaking to me or expecting any walking husband and doggie!! I have me some of my favourite things to sink my teeth into, the new man in my dreams Archer and his library (the best thing a man can bring in both ways), that being said I would like to own that library not have to give it back.
This is a great story and you can’t o wrong picking it up, Donna Alam is a writer that brings the men to the yard, all of the men she writes just have a little extra sparkle to their eyes. There isn’t one amongst the bunch I would kick out of bed for eating crackers (apart from Kai, but that’s only cause its weird dreaming about a man who has the same name as my brother and is just a better looking version on him(it’s just a little weird, unless I call him Kia in my brain))

Sweet and spicy and so much fun. Enemies-to-lovers crossed with fake relationship themes made this a book I never wanted to end. I giggled, I sighed, and I loved Heather and Archer to bits and pieces. They both have piles of past baggage weighing them down and I just wanted to hug them both tight, promising that everything would be okay. Their sassy and snarky banter showed they have loads of chemistry together which made for lots of scorching scenes between the pair. I think I say the same thing at the end of every one of the author’s books I read: I don’t know what she’s going to bring us next but I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author through Bad Boy Update.

STAND OUT Has It ALL!
It's exciting entertaining intense and will grab hold of your emotions and tug hard at your heartstrings. The chemistry is full of irresistible angst that had me frustrated and swooning with a hungry need to keep turning the pages. This story got me hooked from the start with a realistic feel and flowed at a nice steady pace. Another awesome read from this author who always does an amazing job of writing with great vivid detail that every word seems to come to life always making starving for her next read.

Heather and Archer were off the charts smoldering hot, fun and I couldn’t put this book down. Each of them have their own baggage and when Heather’s told her friends a little white lie about being in a relationship, she quickly needs to find a date to a wedding and who better to go with her than Archer? He’s known for his philandering ways and needs a new image and what’s a little blackmail between friends? Right? The heat is there, they are intense, and what starts out fake may just pick up a little speed to so much more. Their story is sexy, hot, quirky, and you will be sucked in from page one. No spoilers, I received a copy of this book.

*deep sigh*

unfortunately, not even the sexy banter and all the bickering could have me pulled into this story.

I'm actually unpleasantly surprised as how unfortunate I was to relate to these characters and the slow flow of the story...

My bad.

and yet, I couldn't give a 1 star cause honestly, I have read much worse and this is better than that, for sure.

The Stand Out was an entertaining RomCom that focuses on lengths one will go to have a plus one for a wedding, needless to say, reading Heather's journey was quite a ride! The chemistry between the two characters was nicely built and I liked the story-line that Alam created.

All in all, if you are looking for a humorous and steamy book, check out The Stand Out right away! I give it a solid 4.25 outta 5 stars and enjoyed the banter between the two characters!

PS: I received an ARC of the book and would like to thank Donna Alam and Candi Kane PR for allowing me to have one!

Another Outstanding book by Donna Alam

Another stand out book which has great comedic scenes as well as her usual sensual stuff. I liked that the female lead characters is ADD as often this is given to male characters. Loved the integration with Miranda and Harry’s story too.

Birlikte iyiydiler. Okuması keyifli bir kitaptı. Bir iki nokta olmamış o kadar.

We met Heather in Not the One-Miranda's cousin who was on her way to university. Heather's finished university now & works at E11even, a digital marketing company. Her boss, Hadyn, has been difficult & she finds herself in a predicament. Heather has been known as weird & quirky, so she forces a solution to her problem and blackmails her coworker Archer into her plan. Ms Alam has the best characters with the best dialogue, whether it is between Heather and her friends Daisy & Vivi, or Heather & Archer. I found this story appealing because both the main characters suffer from insecurities-it was like a physical connection that burned hot & fast but communicating the emotional connection took a bit longer. I enjoy the author's style of writing, the pace, flow and timing. Two perfectly flawed people who belong perfectly together.

Donna never fails to make me laugh through a book and Heather and Archer had the perfect amount of comedy, mixed with friendly love/hate interactions.

Our love adventure begins when Heather, spots Archer, on what looks like a date with their employers Top boss’ daughter. She sees this as an opportunity and kind of blackmails him into being her fake boyfriend at an upcoming wedding in exchange for her silence on the alleged date.

Archer decides to have a little fun on this date, but their true characters start to come out and secrets slip and the need for each other grows.

Heather is a little different and quirky, she’s got ADHD and says exactly what she’s feeling.

I loved Archers character. He was the typical male, sowing his wild oats then Heather steps into his life-changing everything he thought he knew. He’s sexy, caring, has a mouth of sin and you can’t help fall in love with him, along with Elvis, his dog!

There is just something I love about Donna’s books, the sex scenes are hot but from the first page, you are hooked with the easy writing and pace along with MC’s who balance each other out, even though they are so different, they come together making it a read you can’t put down and devouring its sexiness.

ARC received for an honest review - thank you

The Stand Out is a new fake relationship romance by Donna Alam which was fun, flirty and full of hotness and I loved it!

Heather and Archer barely know each other apart from the odd hello around the office, until Heather needs a date to their colleague’s wedding. Archer is known as the office playboy so, after catching Archer in a precarious situation, Heather decides to ask him to be her stand in wedding date. After a tense discussion, where blackmail may or may not have been used, Archer reluctantly agrees but neither one of them realise how the weekend will change their relationship and how they feel about one another for good. Will they decide to give their fake relationship a real chance or will Archer always be a stand in until someone else takes his place?

These characters were my favourite! I loved both Archer and Heather and watching them start to open up to one another was so sweet, letting each other in and becoming vulnerable. They both had so many layers behind how they both initially viewed the other, and it proved that you should never judge a book by its cover! Their chemistry was explosive, as was their banter and I loved how it was set in London with British slang used too!

My only slight issue was how miscommunication played a part and because of that the ending felt quite rushed, I would’ve liked to have seen a bit more of them together! Even so, I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good fake relationship office romance!

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.*

Will A Stand In Date Go the Long Haul ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥

Absolutely A MUST READ and laugh your way to love!!! Heather is Miranda's cousin from "Not The One" and has a bit of a socializing fear. Not lucky with love and a terrible first experience she isn't looking for Mr Right but she does need a plus one for a wedding. Enter office hottie tall, dark and a serial shagger Archer Powell. Let the games begin!!! She could have just asked him to attend but noooo, she tries to blackmail him into going so now they are going to play by his rules...Or so he thinks. What are the chances of quarreling with the sexy, standoffish red head would spike his libido and heart rate?? After an amazing night neither expected Heather concludes she needs more dating experience while waiting for someone to love her, but that's not Archer...right. With an expiration time on their "dating" neither wants to let go but yet neither is willing to speak the truth. What happens when that dreaded moment comes and Heather is off to meet another man??? Will Archer be able to let her go??? Will Heather be able to leave??? This book is filled to the rim of spectacular scenes of back and forth jabs and jibs, heartfelt moments, melt you knickers sexy, and painful memories. You also get a new group of friends across the pond and catch up with Miranda and Harry. It's a win ~ win. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book from Savannah May and Bad Boy Updates and purchased a copy for my favorites collection. I'm sooo looking forward for the next Donna Alam book.

it's blackmail, coercion, or whatever you want to spin it. Archer finds himself attending a wedding he was not invited to with a woman who finds him a burden to be around. Heather feels slightly guilty about forcing his hand but it's her or him. she needs a plus one and he will do just fine. The story was a little awkward for me with the some of the British terminology but overall I thought it was a fun book with a lot of good banter. Heather with social awkwardness and Archer with his conceit were quite a match. Neither character was perfect and someone you could relate to. Fast paced with a hot hero you can't go wrong.

Beautifully done! I couldn’t put this book down. I kept turning the pages, eager to see what happened next. Donna Alam is still a new to me author. I have read only a handful of her books, but she has captured my attention with this series and I’ve fallen in love with every single one of the leading characters. The Stand Out was a great read and I absolutely loved it! I would recommend it. This book could potentially be your next favorite read!

This book had the potential to be great but there’s so much blathering, it’s beyond boring. The first 5% consist of 3 women sitting in a bar just talking about a date for a wedding on and on and on. Back to the office the following day, lots of monologue and dialogue, not much interaction and therefore little chemistry. It’s just a drag.

The Stand Out features a quirky girl and the office heartthrob who are office enemies with (blackmailed) benefits. It's full of fun, fire, and f—sexytimes!

I seriously try to NEVER use anything from the blurb in my reviews as people can read them for themselves, but that line above was just TOO GOOD to not do so in this case. It pretty much sums this story up in the very best of ways to be honest. Heather needs a plus for an office wedding, and Archer really needs some of the heat off of him, so blackmail & fun ensues. I love the fake dating trope as it always has the best heat when everyone is trying to keep fake with it. And The Stand Out was even better than most for real. The chemistry is off the charts & won't be denied, and I just have to say, I couldn't help but laugh my way through cover to cover. Not saying there's no angst, because let's face it, someone is going to hurt the other as they deny the feelings which are being caught or will it they?! Plus, there's more to Heather & Archer than meets the eye, and I LOVED that part. So do yourselves a big solid, and hit that one click button so you too, can cheer these two on! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Titillating goodness! The banter was marvelous fun and at times panty-melting sexiness. I’m from the US and with this London setting I didn’t understand some of the language but I was loving every word and absurd action. The fast-paced, crazy banter between this fabulous group of women was so much fun and when it verged on the raunchy side it was hilarious. And then the banter between the slightly awkward, adorable Heather and the ode to The Gandy, Archer, was a riot. And what a randy Gandy Archer is. Smokin’ hot! I could see our obsession with every picture Donna painted of this beautiful man. I loved that Archer owned his beauty and sexiness. And when he turned the tables on Heather and her devious plan I was giggling and swooning. The way their relationship built into a beautiful romance was spectacular. I loved every minute of getting to know these outstanding characters and having a front row seat to their love story. Such beautifully developed characters and a wonderful evolution of a relationship that goes from somewhat adversarial to a lustful romance. This is one of my favorites from this author and on my read again list. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC and bought the book. I can’t wait for the next story from this wonderful group of friends. I hope it’s Vee’s story!

Friends with benefits and all that

When 25 year old Heather needs a fake boyfriend for a wedding, she didn't in a million years think that the hottie from the office would agree, short of blackmailing him, that is.
What she didn't plan on was having the most incredible night of her life. From fake boyfriend to stand in boyfriend for the experience of dating, she finds herself falling in love with Archie. Not realizing that the feelings are mutual, she almost loses the one person who accepts all her quirkiness. Archie and Heather is such a dreamy couple and their story is filled with humor and just all the soppiness of first time love.

While I enjoyed The Stand Out, I felt it fell short of what I have come to expect from Donna Alam. I had a hard time getting into it and connecting with the characters at first. But it didn't take long for that to turn around.

I really liked Heather and Archer together and how they complemented each other. I wanted to shake some sense into them when they were afraid to put their true feelings out there and possibly miss out on something great. Luckily they came to their senses.

I absolutely adored Archer and Heather. The Standout is HOT AS HELL. Hotter maybe. I couldn’t get enough of them. Their chemistry was off the charts and it kept me turning the pages as though my next breath depended on it.

I can’t stop thinking about this book, and every thought brings a smile, excitement and butterflies. I was so invested in this duo that it felt like I was a part of the story. I felt all the feelings with these characters and in the end, all I can say is, I want more!

I struggled with this one, and with each meeting I liked Heather and Archer, and them together, less than I did previously. There was just something about them that didn't work for me.

By about 17% I decided I wasn't actually interested in seeing how this worked out, as I was not able to connect with either of the characters.

I am sure this is just me, and that other people loved this one, but I have chosen not to finish this title.

Another great book from Donna Alan

Thanks Donna for bringing Heather back and giving her a HEA. I loved her story and the sensitive use of ADHD was well done. Glad to see that Miranda is still happy too.

Shame the proof reader and editor gave up three quarters of the way through; perhaps they were caught up in the sex 😉

Archer is the gorgeous office heart throb. Heather needs a fake date for a wedding since she's told her friends that she's in a relationship. She's a little quirky and concerned about her small breasts but she's determined to show up with a date. A little blackmail goes a long way. Steamy and hot, this enemies to lovers romance will get your Kindle smokin.. Likable characters and an entertaining story that I read as an arc and voluntarily chose to review.

Heather just got dumped like yesterday’s trash. She and her friends cook up a scheme.
It make involve a bit of blackmail to take a fake BF to a wedding. That’s were Archer comes in.
Office politics. Mean Archer is Heather’s plus one.

Sassy contemporary office/fake/enemies: read.
