The Indestructibles #5

The Crimson Child

Rate this book
Since the beginning, Doc Silence has warned the Indestructibles, his team of super-powered protégés, that magical threats would be the most dangerous. The team has faced down alien invasions, time traveled to post-apocalyptic futures, and more since they first banded together, but now, for the first time, they are confronted with not one but two sources of dark and dangerous magic. Together, Jane, Billy, Kate, Titus, and Entropy Emily will go up against an evil necromancer, warping his victims into weapons in a reckless pursuit of wealth; and an even stranger threat, a young girl with inherent mystical abilities who has become a pawn in an interdimensional power struggle. When an entire town disappears, the Indestructibles – a solar-powered girl, a boy with an alien in his mind, a ballerina vigilante, a werewolf with confidence issues, and a Whovian with a black hole where her heart should be – must band together with new allies to stop dark forces far beyond their comprehension. This is their greatest challenge and most personal mission yet. Has all their training been enough to prepare them?

Definitely in my top five of favorite superhero teams. I love the way the author has grown this team. Love the stories and the characters and really hope this series will continue.
One caveat, I hope the author does not succumb to the temptation to make romance a thing - that would kill the series for me.

Great series, this is a solid addition. I didn't find the overall plot as interesting as other books in the series, but the character growth was good.

Great addition to the series! I love how every book explores a different theme/genre of superhero stories. This one dives into magic with dream realms, necromancers, blood magic and some truly gross monsters. This series continues to be a lot of fun and the world continues to expand with every book. Looking forward to seeing where it goes next.

This was a great trip to a new dimension of powerful magic. Add in: evil scientist wizards, Entropy Emily’s wit, Bedlam, and a unicorn! So many of my favorite things in a single novel. Another great book in this imaginative series.

Great book

This was a great addition the series. The development of each character is taken farther as they confront their own issues and insecurities.
