"Seated at her table, Cornelia squeezed her thighs together under her dress. She found she could no longer restrain her impulses at the thought. For now, however, Cornelia was content to listen to the old house whisper."
Let love take you to dark places in THE ECSTASY OF CORNELIA DAY from Magen Cubed (FLESHTRAP, A MONSTROUS LOVE, and THE SOUTHERN GOTHIC SERIES). In this erotic supernatural romance, a woman falls in love with the nine spirits who haunt her home -- and the man who killed them, known as the Master.
Sensuous, dream-like, and strange, this 4,200-word short story is an unconventional romance about the spaces between love and death.
Magen Cubed is an Eisner-nominated writer, essayist, and occasional critic, best known for her queer monster-hunting urban fantasy/paranormal romance series SOUTHERN GOTHIC. She has appeared in the critically acclaimed TWISTED ROMANCE comics anthology from Image Comics and has bylines on the award-winning Women Write About Comics. Magen lives in Florida with her girlfriend Melissa and a little dog named Cecil.

i enjoyed this little short erotic story and i will continue readin magen's stories FOR SURE.
A little true crime research, a little creepy, and a healthy dose of weird. Dreamy and Dark.
The prose is lovely and haunting, giving a gothic feeling in the modern day. It was easy to lose track of when this story was supposed to take place—floating in and out of time with Cornelia— as our heroine seems to have a taste for older clothing to go along with her fascination with 123 Brightmore Lane, its infamous owner, and the people who lost their lives in the house—very willingly, if the stories are correct.
This was a fine short story that was well-written, dreamy, dark, and unique. It probably deserves 4 stars, but I found it a terribly sad read and got 3 stars of enjoyment out of it.
It's a chilling, ghostly tale that feels like it should be read in autumn twilight as the cold creeps in. There are dark desires here and allusions to past murder and possibly present thoughts of suicide. It's got a bit of Romeo/Juliet vibe of toxic longing, obsession, and dependency, except with a strange kind of polyamory.
Overall, it was a quick, interesting read, and I would check out the author's other works. But I would only recommend this to someone without triggers who enjoys an eerie, slightly erotic ghost story.
“Here, inside the house’s weathered corpse, Cornelia felt...safe.” “In that moment, in a hot, hungry place inside her ribcage, all Cornelia wanted was to join them, too.”
"Librarian moves into haunted serial killer house, falls in love with the ghosts and has a queer orgy with them while dreaming about death" is not a story I ever thought I'd get to read, but I'm so glad I did.
Very unusual, and equally good. I loved it. The writing is excellent, the story intriguing. Can't believe this is only 20 pages long and yet so impressive.
I’m still not sure is this story is happy or sad or if Cornelia is crazy or haunted. But either way it was a creepy sexy little story. Super quick read. Happy Halloween.
The writing was amazing, this was the first piece of writing I read from Cubed and it will certainly not be the last. I've already recommended this short story to people. The writing was beautiful and dark and sensual. It doesn't live up to the praise that its given, it exceeds it.
