Excellent book! Erin Stern has shared tonnes of knowledge and the book is easy to read.
I love the workouts... they are organized so they make sense with an aside to setting up for individual goals. The back of the book has comprehensive diagrams and instructions to do each exercise with variations. I have now ordered her other book: Bodybuilder's Kitchen. I can't wait to read her nutritional advice!

Good if you can access a gym

While there were a lot I of modifications for exercises, you will still need a gym for many of the exercises. I also would have liked more details about diet and some of the exercises. It's a good book, if you are not an absolute beginner like I am. I thought it would be more graduated from beginner to expert, not that the book description necessarily said so. It did show me some exercises I didn't know existed and actually look fun.

Great reference

This book is great reference that I can use over and over. The exercise section has fantastic written and photographic detail on how to perform each exercise correctly. I appreciate having this readily available rather than having to Google the information separately.

Erin Stern is an effective communicator. This book is well thought out. The information is perfectly explained and beautifully organized. Compared with hundreds of bodybuilding books I've read in 30-odd years, I can say without a doubt that this is one of the best I have seen to date. Being fit and lean is a journey. This book could be a great companion.

Decent book, but there are better.

Book gives a very basic and cursory introduction to bodybuilding, but was not nearly as thorough as I would have liked. There are some concepts and principles that I feel should have been expanded on to give reader better understanding.

I've been reading a lot of lifting books lately, and it's hard to find any that I like because beginner ones are too beginner but advanced ones are too advanced, plus I'm always looking for body neutrality or positivity (or at least no antifatness) and not too much triggering diet culture shit. Given what I've seen lurking in bodybuilding communities on Reddit, I honestly didn't expect this book to be as nontoxic as it was. It is one of the most sloppily edited books I've ever seen come out of the mainstream trade publishing world (it's DK! DK can afford editing! They just....chose not to do so here, I guess), but if poor grammar and sloppy typos don't bother you, this book is surprisingly well worth it as a reference for proper lifting instructions and descriptions of exercise that find a nice balance between scientific language and regularass human language for people who don't have multiple fitness certifications or degrees in physiology.

A good book for the fundamental movements and understanding of bodybuilding. The detailed images and explanations of each movement were helpful (with variations). The chart with the macros breakdown is very useful on a practical level (based on whether your goals are to build, maintain or cut). Although much of the information is familiar, this book helps with building a strong fundamental understanding.
