FOREsight: Awaken curiosity. Cultivate wisdom. Discover the abundant future

Rate this book
In a data-laden, disrupted, dread-inducing world, how can we see clearly into the future? How can we navigate through the data, become the disruptors and replace our sense of dread for the future with a clear-thinking, positive vision of things to come?Following his first two ground-breaking books, What’s Your Moonshot? and Magnetiize, John Sanei turns his endless curiosity to the perspectives, perceptions and prejudices that prepare us for our illogical future. He breaks down the four types of seeing – HINDsight, PLAINsight, INsight and FOREsight – we humans use to guide us through the world and into the future. Then, with 20 shots of vivid, eye-opening FOREsight, he gives readers the opportunity to peer into what that future could be and ask the types of questions that will allow us to embrace it with optimism.• What can the history of the first autonomous vehicle, the elevator, teach us about autonomous cars and their effect onreal estate and city planning?• Why will the gold in our smartphones change the way we mine gold from the ground?• Why are adaptability and flexibility more important than endless qualifications?• How can you connect the invisible dots between the confusion of today and the grand potential of tomorrow?

Woah , where do I begin... This is the first self-help book I read all the way through because it's pretty and very easy to follow. Everything subtopic had examples that one can easily follow but I do think it lacked depth in most cases it had a million chances to be more detailed but missed. I can only judge it based on how I felt and not comparing it to other self help books because I almost always dnf'ed them. Even after me thinking it's a good book, still wasn't sold on reading anymore of not only John Sanei's books but just self help books in general.

This was a nice read as it’s content is very current, working through topics like the power of data and why disruption as a topic is so valid and why it’s a need and not a want. Provides a unique view on society as is and where we’re heading and should be heading. Not the the greatest of writers, but a great story worth reading.

A pleasant quick read but needs more depth.

OK but nothing particularly new that has not already been written in the past 4 years. A collection of blog posts without going into great detail.

Insightful, thought-provoking, practical advice from a futurist. Enjoy John's easy writing style - you can sometimes hear him think.

Some nice one-liners. Found some parts of the first half interesting in a practical sense - especially around Innovation. But the second half felt like Buzzfeed articles and self-promotion - just words to make up a book.

Looking forward to his next book, as he mentioned that he'll need to up his games for that one! :)

Overall: Worth a read on the plane, when you've tried to read the inflight magazine twice already.

P.S. If you have a hard-copy of the book and looking for the citations and footnotes... good luck with that! He states at the end of the book that they are only available in his eBook and on his website (they aren't on his website...).

John Sanei is a South African entrepreneur with incredible insight. I found this book in an airport in Johannesburg a week ago and totally devoured it. Plus I re-read again yesterday on a plane ride to Alabama.

Highly recommend just for the insight quotes to give directions to your leadership. If you lead but simply need language to talk about your leadership, this book is for you.

5-star . . . For real

I found this book inspiring especially as I finished it on a trip to Hong Kong. This really drove home some of the concepts spoken about in the book home. One of many favourite quotes is “you are the director, star and writer of your own movie.” I like that the chapters were short and the photographs gave me time to think and reflect on what I had just read.

His best work to date. I really enjoyed reading this book - well written in rookie friendly language.

Part tech, trend, motivation and psychology. Everything you expect from John Sanei.
