Balls and parties are not all fun and frivolity…

Finding a husband on the marriage mart is a serious business. Lady Anne sets out with an unromantic heart, appreciating how narrow her field of choice is – dukes are not in abundance.

However, her heart is won over by charm and flattery. Can Lord Felsenworth prove himself worthy despite his lower rank of earl? Her papa, the Duke of Hesford, will take much persuasion.

During the course of the Season, other beaux step forwards. Some more agreeable than others. Lady Anne struggles between head and heart as she tries her best to obey family duty.

Choice is but an illusion.
This is Regency England, where fortunes are won and lost with alarming regularity. Who amongst the nobility has kept and who has squandered the family fortune?

Gossip and intrigue are rife amongst The Ton. Not all are honourable. And not all marriages are equal.

Jane Austen fans are loving the authenticity.

Step into Regency London and hear what Lady Anne truly thought of her situation.
The drawing room doors are opening for you.

NB Contains an attempted seduction and arousing scenes of marital duties

T.L. Clark’s REGENCY LOVE: REFLECTIONS OF A YOUNG LADY immerses readers into an era where women were property to be sold off in marriage to the highest bidder. Gossip and intrigue run rampant as tongues wag and reputations can be ruined with a single word.

One young woman has been placed on the marriage mart, the goal, a duke, but can she tolerate a loveless marriage? Should she? Must she? Is it possible for her to find romance with a man and their union be one of marital equals? Unheard of, yet, Lady Anne is a woman of opinions and this is her story as she traverses the societal gauntlet set forth by some of the most refined hypocrites.

Formal dialogue abounds, what contemporary society could say in five words becomes a drawn out soliloquy. Those who enjoy “period” speak could succumb to vapors! This is a tale of finding love, stumbling through the mystery of passion and learning to play the game of life in the Ton. There is no rapid-fire action, it is Lady Anne’s life, her journey to a new life.

Wonderful descriptions color the backdrop, a strong woman held back by society and a chance for love!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from T.L. Clark! This is my honest and voluntary review.

There’s nothing better than being spirited away to Regency London. What an affectionate and historically accurate chronicle of the life of a young woman entering society. Regency Love takes us full circle- the first season, marriage, then parenthood.
Anne Frithringham, daughter of the Duke of Hesford, is about to make her come out. She’s been tutored and taught to perform and pose and parade with decorum. She is beautiful and elegant. All a lady entering society ought to be. And she is scared to death. As well she should be. The road to matrimony is filled with difficulties. Not everyone is as they would appear. Anne isn’t sure who to choose as one man may seem the perfect match only to discover he isn’t all she believed him to be. Her understanding of the marriage market is based on economics and status, of course. But as much as she may realize it’s her duty to marry well, she longs for love and affection also.
Author TL Clark does an outstanding job of exposing the vulnerability of female innocence in an image conscious, and often cruel, culture where social snobbery and licentious behavior are played out in public. Anne’s innocence makes her an astute observer on the absurdities of manners and social ambitions in the ton. Readers get a real idea of the conventions of courtship, the dependence of women, and the limitations of family life. All through the intimacy of Anne’s thoughts and letters. This book is an enjoyable read and paints a vivid picture of how women of the period led their lives. I became connected with the characters and cared what happened to them. Anne’s youth and naivety endeared her to me. The minute details of society life, and the exquisite and descriptive language in which the story is told will charm readers. Regency Love goes above and beyond in giving a true glimpse of courtship and marriage in the era through these Reflections of a Young Lady.

“Today I make my ‘come out’, and my mind is awhir. Outwardly, I am everything a lady ought to be as she enters society, with even plumpness residing in all the correct places and an air of elegance in my deportment. Insides my heart is fluttering wildly, more from trepidation than excitement. For me, this is no joyous occasion, but a torment which must be borne.”
Regency Love- Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark, was an ARC book I was privileged to read, of one I have never read before. This story is of a young girl who is ready for her first season and going to snatch a husband and fulfill her duty for her family. She is everything that is prim and proper. But London and the ton, decidedly are much different than she was prepared for and she is unsure whom she can trust and what the correct courses of action are. Will this lead to her demise or to her ultimate good fortune?

TL Clark is a very talented author in the ways of the Regency Era. This book has so much history and perfect detail to how they lived, spoke, and interacted with each other during this time period. I thoroughly enjoyed the story as it reminded me of my favorite Austen stories.
This story was first person, which is new to me, and made it a little harder to connect to the characters for me. The story also includes several sex scenes (within the bounds of marriage) but which is not necessarily my cup of tea to read. But overall it was very well written and I feel like I learn much more of history and the depths of the duty behind being a perfect lady.

Lady Anne has come out and it’s time she was wed. Cue the balls, dashing men, gossiping women and coy flirting.

I love a good Austen-era read and Regency Love did not disappoint. Paced with ease, Clark builds intrigue and draws the reader right in to Regency England with a fantastic cast of characters. Moving through her courtship, marriage and parenthood, the story is packed with insight into the era, and while I’m no history buff, her attention to detail has to be applauded.

Anne is not the typical meek lady of this time and I loved how Clark gave her a little spunk. A woman’s duty was to conform during this era, and while Anne does her best to behave, her intelligence and independent streak slip through to make her an endearing character. I wanted nothing more than for her to find a caring husband who would welcome her bright mind as she navigates the snobbery, gossip and male-dominated society. Anne does find her prince, but like any good romance, has to kiss a few frogs along the way. She also develops strong relationships with other young women which is something I admired, as often, the HEA neglects the importance of female friends.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s a standalone, but like any read where I fall for the characters, I want more, especially with the charming ending which leaves room for a sequel. My only small grumble is I feel the cover doesn’t do the story justice.

Regency Love is an insightful, endearing and hard to put down read.

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by T.L Clark is something a little different from what I have read from her before, and I have read most of her books now. This is a regency/historical romance, which paints a vivid and accurate portrait of life in the Ton- and the expectations, responsibilities, and duty that were placed on a proper young lady’s shoulders. We see how women were treated, what society and families expected- and how everything could ‘come off the rails’ with the wrong word, a look, or a scandal. London of the day came to life- painted in rich detail with the author’s clever word-smithing.
Ms. Clark writes beautifully, and in this story she does so in a style and language that is within keeping of the times. The ‘proper’, ‘formal’ prose has a bit of a poetic style to it- which gave the book a little more ‘personality’ than I had initially expected.
Lady Anne is the daughter of a Duke and is about to make her Debut into society. She’s graceful and beautiful- and not too thrilled about having to do her ‘duty’. She dreams of finding true love and real affection- not entering into a “match’ of status and wealth. We follow along as her story unfolds….

Thank you, Ms. Clark!

TL Clark has outdone herself with ‘Regency Love’.
It is a beautifully written indulgence into the life of a young lady faced with her coming out. Clark writes this engaging story as if she herself has lived in the early 1800s and, in doing so, draws the reader back in time.
There are many surprises which keep you from putting this book down.
Jane Austen would be proud to say the least.

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark .

The story follows the coming out of a young lady in Regency England. Lady Anne is a strong, intelligent woman who tends to say what she’s thinking. Her goal is to find a husband. She has been trained by her mother to do just that. Lady Anne has many suitors, not all to her liking, but she knows her future husband must meet with her father’s approval. She is not sure the man of her choice will be accepted by her parents.

Through TL Clark’s engaging story, we discover what day to day life was like for a young woman of that time.

I recommend that if you love Regency, you will love this charming story.

A wonderful historical romance!

I love getting lost in period pieces and I was whisked away to England of yore in Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady. I’m enamored with historical fiction because it allows me to indulge in the romantic notions of the past without having its restrictions imposed upon me - as was the fate of the fair ladies in Regency Love. Clark candidly portrays the hardships faced by women of the era, which greatly added to the authenticity and considerable pleasure already to be had by reading her novel. Well done!

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by T.L. Clark is a period romance story set in an era where young women come out to the Ton of England and are paraded around to find the best husband that is deemed worthy by their fathers. Where reputations and gossip are rife and women have no say. It is a story where you hope like hope you don’t get a husband who is too old, or to violent towards you. It is a tale of those who can only hope to be fortunate enough to actually find love and be treated like a lady. I am not a lover of period pieces, as I get to caught up in the ways women are treated but T.L did a good job and I found myself drawn to the story and the main character and how her life became. We take a journey back in time where vulnerability is not to be discussed and snobbery and licentious behavior are a given.

Lady Anne is of age to come out to society and find a suitable husband. She is young, naive and beautiful and finds the road to finding the one is filled with troubles, lies and deceit and heartache. Will she be made to marry someone who cares not for her well being and only in duty or will she indeed be lucky enough to find true love?

If you like period pieces then Regency Love is certainly one to grab.

Hero/Heroine: Lady Anne/ Lord *** (no spoilers!)
Trope: Virgin/First Love
Rating: 5/5

THE GOOD -

Lady Anne is a wonderful character, both innocent and shrewd, and she casts an increasingly ironic eye on the Regency marriage market where she hopes to finds a suitable match.
In her search for a husband she meets all sorts of eligible young men, some horrid, some charming, but none make her heart beat like a certain Lord (I won’t spoil which one, there’s a bit of a reverse harem thing).
Normally, the story would end here, but TL Clark treats us to the ups and downs of their ‘long’ engagement and marriage, including some bedroom activities in a variety of locations (!) where her new husband proves himself quite skilled, and Lady Anne rather receptive.
The language is very reminiscent of Jane Austen’s books, and the Regency world of the upper class is lovingly depicted, complete with beautiful costumes, thrilling balls and the intricacies of the ‘Ton’ good manners and proprieties.

THE BAD

During one of the sex scenes, Lady Anne’s new husband asks her, “are you OK?”. Gasp!

The last few chapters feel like an over-long epilogue, but it’s lovely to know how the various characters get their HEAs. (Be warned, not everything ends well, there is a very sad ending for one of my favourite characters.)

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
All in all, a charming, light, Regency Romance for fans of the genre and anyone who likes a good love story!

Very Jane Austen-esque!

The author did her research! I was extremely impressed with the level of detail and history intertwined in this wonderful coming of age Regency romance. I felt as though I was reading a novel by a compatriot of Jane Austen! I loved the characters, especially Anne and Dellingby, and being immersed in English high society, all the balls and activities. If you love the works of Jane Austen, I highly recommend checking this out!

Too long, first person narrative

Wow, it was promising but too repetitive, Anne musings and thoughts took over the book, hardly any progression, no action.

What a wonderful story! Told from the viewpoint of Lady Anne, an innocent young girl about to make her debut among the Ton in London, it captures you from the first page.

It had me laughing out loud at times, while at others I could feel the angst of the characters as they struggled to follow society's rules, going against their true feelings for fear of ridicule or worse.

Well written and full of great characters, it's an enjoyable read following life in Regency times. I've read a couple of the author's books, and this is her best yet! Highly recommend.

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady
By: TL Clark
5 out of 5 stars

The story Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark is a historical romance book. It is a story that pulls you in from the beginning and doesn’t let you go until you have read the final page. It is a book that takes you back to a time when there are grand balls, courtships, young ladies have their “coming out season”, and all the rules that go along with it. It is a time when society dictates what is acceptable and in order to avoid scandal one must conform. I loved reading about the character of Lady Anne. It is her first “season” and a marriage match is the goal. Anne is strong, intelligent, and tends to say what she really thinks. Who will catch Anne’s eye and win her over? What does the future hold for Lady Anne? Read this book to find out. This story has heartbreaking as well as heartwarming moments. My emotions went up and down with each chapter that I read. I grew to care about Lady Anne and wanted her to find happiness. This book will draw you in and I found myself getting lost reading about all the different characters and their interactions with Lady Anne. Most characters are either family, friends, or helpful to Lady Anne. There however are those that have their own selfish agenda. Don’t miss out on a book that will transport you to another period of time and have you glued to the pages. I highly recommend reading this story.

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark was an intriguing read that hooks you from the start, and keeps you until the last page is flipped.

As a fan of historical fiction, I was excited to read this book. Right out of the gate I was pulled in, and was transported back in time to a place of lace, ball gowns, courting and titles. It was well researched, authentic, and the detail not only paints a realistic pictured, it brings you into the story itself. The world building was top shel, and the characters were well written, well rounded complex and compelling. My only complaint, is that this book is a bit on the longer side, over 400 pages. I found there was some filler along the way, I first notice it at the start with a letter to the MC's younger sister. I get what was trying to be done, as I am a fan of Jane Austen, but I feel like that letter didn't add to the plot, and was a bit dry. But other than that, I was impressed with this read, and I will be checking out more from this author.

Overall this book is worth your time and energy. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that weather if you like this genres or not, this book will take you back to a time long gone, and will give you that inside look into the minds of the women who at the time, did not have choices of their own.

Happy Reading

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady is a very enjoyable historical romance from T.L. Clark. This is a genre that I do not usually read but I really liked the blurb and it came highly recommended. I have to say that I really, really enjoyed this book.
Set in Regency London we are told the story of 17 year old Lady Anne Frithringham. It is her ‘come out’ season in London where she has to attend many balls and events in the hope of finding a suitable husband. As the daughter of a Duke, there are many constraints on who would be considered suitable.
I warmed to Lady Anne as a character straight away, enjoying the many thoughts going through her head. I loved reading her exploits as she meets the many men who vie for her attention. A very mixed bunch indeed, from young and handsome to older and arrogant.
I also loved as the story progressed once Anne was married, It was interesting to see how she coped as a wife. It must be said that one of my favourite scenes takes place on her wedding night. I won’t give anything away but I found it hilarious. I also do not want to mention who became her husband as that would spoil much of the story.
I would definitely recommend this book to others, even if this is not a genre you normally read.

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady
by TL Clark

This author does an excellent job on taking you back into history. I have read other books by this author and have enjoyed everything I have read, I will admit that even knowing I like this author I was a little unsure about this story only because I don't normally read books from this era. I am ecstatic that I did decide to read it because it took me to a place of wonderful balls, parties, clothing, and then some not so flattering things from that time. Reading about Lady Anne and what she experiences during her "coming out " season was entertaining, eye opening and made me really like her. She is naive about men and so choosing a would be husband is very difficult, it's hard to know who has good intentions and who doesn't. Lady Anne's father makes things even more difficult for her but ultimately he makes the decision since that's how it's done back then. There are some wonderful characters in this story that I grew fond of. This story was so well written that I felt like I was there in it. I truly enjoyed this read with its happy times and sad ones, along with witty banter. I highly recommend this book.

Creative, Different and I loved it. This is not your typical Regency romance book. It is chronicle of the life of a debutante, finding suitors, accepting a proposal, getting married, the shock of marital relations and the lack of information given beforehand, birthing sons and daughters, only to begin the cycle all over again when the former debutante is a mother and her daughter is now the debutante. I really liked reading it. It was curiously informative and realistic. The characters, some devious, some dear friends, some loved as a sibling and others of family devotedly loved. The plot and subplots are diverse and intriguing. In Lady Anne Frithringham and her circle of friends’ world, the story includes what happens to them. It includes the different ways marriages happen. Some happy, others sad, some abusive. It even includes a loved gay couple. The story continues to explore what happens during the young lady's life cycle. It is amazing, admirable, stressful, endurable, patient, tragic, painful and compassionate. A worthy read. You will not be disappointed. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady
By T.L. Clark
5 stars

I loved this story! It is one of my favourite genres and this author absolutely did it justice! I lost myself in the story so easily and was transported to 1800’s Regency London! The authors writing really was excellent, I was fully invested in the story from beginning to end. I could tell that she had really taken the time to make sure what she was writing was in keeping with the time period and she did it perfectly in my opinion. I have read a lot of stories that take place in this time period and I think this is probably one of my favourites!
I loved the character Lady Anne! I thought she was great! I loved the way in which the author chose to write the story – for me it gave me a real insight into Lady Anne’s life and her story – I felt really involved in what I was reading!
Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady was a beautifully written story – one that I loved reading and would absolutely recommend to others 100%!!

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by T.L. Clark is a brilliant example of a historical fiction novel. The author has done a great job of painting a very realistic and easy to visualise image of what life was life in Regency London.
My one and only niggle about this book is that I wasn’t overly keen on the cover. It isn’t something I would normally focus on but for some reason the cover almost turned me off this book. If you are in the same position I was then trust me when I pull out the old cliché and tell you not to judge this book by its cover. I was so surprised by how much I liked this story, and how much I liked the main character Lady Anne. I was beyond pleased that I gave this book a go and you will be too!!!
I really felt like I had been transported back to that era. The author provides so much detail that it is like you are right there with her. You are taken through the ups and downs of her first season and everything that entails.
If you are a fan of regency romance then definitely give this book a go!

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark. This is the story of Regency London and Lady Anne Frithringham daughter of the Duke of Hesford. She is about to enter society, beautiful and elegant, taught all the proper things but scared to death. She is ready to get married and be loved but also scared of what it entails. Lord Felsenworth is trying to prove himself worthy despite his lower rank of Earl. Lady Anne is struggling between her head and her heart as she picks a partner. When she finally thinks she has one picked out she realizes he's not all he says he is leaving her more confused than ever. She learns not all relationships especially marriages are not always created equal. This story is such an enjoyable description of courtship and marriage in the era of Regency London thru Lady Anne's eyes. You realize some things haven't changed at all today and some things are radically different. Such a good book!

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by T. L. Clark is a great story for those who are fans of historical fiction, Jane Austen, or the Regency era in general. Lady Anne Frithringham, daughter of the Duke of Hesford is of the marrying age and is scared about her prospects. She is heading into this search without all the notions of romance but of the importance of finding a suitable husband. I love this period because as far as women have come there are still some common factors between the periods. Parents want a good match for their daughters, men are not always the most uprights, and fortunes can be won or lost overnight. This story is well written and was a quick read for me. I like that Lady Anne is reasonable and not a flighty female. She has her head on straight but must navigate her role as daughter and wife in the eyes of society. I am going to keep this author on my watch list for further books in the future.

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady was a great 5 star read.

Lady Anne is at the age for her coming out and looking for a husband. She has been trained by her mother on how a young lady should act. She has many suitors, some are way older and definitely not anyone she prays will ask for her hand. Her dream is to find someone she can love. When she finally meets the one, he turns out to be the most perfect man and exactly what she was praying for. Can they have a HEA?

Overall I really enjoyed this read. It was great reading a historical romance, it’s been awhile for me. There was so much going on, not with just Lady Anne but her friends and family as well. It was interesting reading how women were to be seen not heard. I have to say I also had a LOL moment on her wedding night, it was great. I really enjoyed the ending and I look forward to reading more from this series.

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark

5-Stars

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark was a compelling and insightful read. I loved following Lady Anne in this novel and greatly enjoyed reading her letters to her younger sister. It was fascinating reading what life was like for her during that time period and being privy to her thoughts that were not able to be shared at the time. She was a beautiful person and it was fascinating reading her opinion on the process of finding a husband compared to swine at the beginning. It was something I found hilarious but also true. This was such an excellent read and the story itself was easy to follow. This novel is definitely worth its 5-stars and I highly recommend it!

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark is wonderful Historical Romance story that I loved reading. This is one of most favorite genres. I reading about how life was back then and how they lived. I had a hard time putting it down once I started reading. The authors style of writing and her characters are very well developed and I found myself imagining what it would have been like to live in that time period. I found myself not only lost in the pages but a bit emotional at times as well. Lady Anne is a strong, intelligent woman who tends to say what she’s thinking about and it’s her first season. Her goal is a marriage match. Will someone catch her eye? What is in store for her future? Find out what happens next in this must read book.

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady By TL Clark. Once again I found myself drawn into a genre I’m not particularly interested in. But I was definitely pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this story. The author does a wonderful job of writing a story that paints a very clear picture in your mind while you read. The attention to even the smallest details was great. Each character brings something different to the overall story being told. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed. The author truly writes the emotions that’s intended to be felt, I was all over the place but in a good way. I’m excited to see where the author takes readers next. I’m giving this story a four star review and recommend it.

Magnificent story

Clark puts together a magnificent story in Regency Love. It's a historical fiction filled with era correct ranks and culture in England. I like that the story is unpredictable and yet shows the reader a grand insight into the life of Lady Anne. It was filled with twists and intrigue, surrounded by the gossip and intentions of the characters, who are very well-developed. This is one of those stories that keeps this reader, reading and turning the pages. Lady Anne is quite a remarkable character, with strengths, flaws, intentions, and longing. I enjoyed this story, as I do of all of Clark's work. I look forward to reading more from Clark.
