Tony Lambrianu is bold, daring and ruthless, qualities that have propelled him and Jake Sinclair up the ladder in London’s sleazy but lucrative underworld.
And, now that he’s running a fancy West End nightclub, Tony has new-found celebrity status – with a never-ending string of gorgeous women on his arm, he’s become the darling of the tabloids. However, despite his success, he still feels he lacks the respect he deserves and the status he desires. The little boy who lived on the streets is never far away.
Desperate for recognition, he’s driven to achieve more and more. Most of all, he craves the acceptance of Ralph Gold and to become a bigger part of his extensive web of organised crime.
Fearlessly facing up to enemies, winning battles and becoming the undisputed bosses of the London underworld can be a nasty business, but it’s the only business Tony and Jake know. And they’ll stop at nothing to succeed.

Nasty Business i believe is the second book in the series, but my first book. I'm not entirely convinced it's ok as a standalone as I felt I missed out on so much back story. I also had to try and work out who was who. But I did really enjoy reading it.
Tony and his business partner Jake the man he called his brother are just starting out as Nightclub Owners, with a money laundering system on the side. But now they are about to dabble in Strip Club Nights and charging entry fees. To make their business more profitable.
Nasty Business is a Gang-Lit thriller with plenty of crime, violence, drama and unusually for this type of genre there's wit, which I actually really enjoyed. The characters were brilliantly developed and I really enjoyed getting to know these new crime villains. It's gripping, twisty, compelling and despite not reading the previous books I really enjoyed it. I'm definitely going to look out for the other books, Gillian Godden is very talented and is one Author I'm eager to read more from!

Tony and Jake are back We finished ‘Dangerous Games’ as they were about to refurbish the old seedy nightclub they have acquired....the first sentence of this book has it all ready and raring to go The book then follows their years into their 30’s as the nightclub becomes a roaring success, they acquire a casino and a Gentleman’s Club and generally build on their rep and success I loved the Gentleman’s Club parts as Anthony ( one of their workers ) decides its time for the ‘striptease nights’ to have a men for men night.....not everyone approves and sections of this part of the story had me laughing out loud There is actually quite a lot of humour, some dry, some dark throughout the book and mixed in with some VERY real and gritty gangland scenes that left me looking away then tentatively looking back to finish the paragraph The ending was good and set up the story for Book 3 and although am not one for series’ generally I felt really comfortable being back with Tony, Jake, Sharon and the gang and the newcomers that were introduced quickly became as favoured This author tells a good, well explained story that leads you very well through these post teenage/early 20’s years and spins a great yarn with every sub story that is featured Loved it and look forward to Book 3 10/10 5 Stars
I have loved getting to know how Tony and Jake grew from their childhood to being the men they are now.I wish though that i had read them in order but never mind i have really loved all three of Gillian Goddens books as i love a good bad boy book.Well done to Gillian Godden 5*
Was so looking forward to this book, and wasn’t disappointed .
Two lads, or rather men now, have the world at their feet.
Tony and Jake own their club, and now they’ve bought another business to work on too. Of course, this all takes off so that means, more pictures in the papers of Tony and the club.
They collect money from the pubs, as they’re still offering protection. However, we know what could still happen though.
They earn a fortune, yet Tony is still looking for something else to keep his interest. He’s still sleeping around. Jake is married.
I had to laugh about a few things at the club. There were some very funny characters in this story, who knew their stuff.
Loved this story and would like to see Tony meeting the girl of his dreams, if that’s at all possible.
Having read Antonias end and beginning here we get to learn about his middle, his journey to being the up and coming Top dog. Hidden in the wings are people wanting to pull Tony from the top can the succeed, just like th3 stunning ladies who are despetate to get that title and win Tony in to marriage....yet all tony wants is to work with Ralph Gold and the mystery lady.
Another excellent instalment, hoping there is more from Tony, Jake and Sharon.
This is the second novel I have read and Gillian Godden has a brilliant mind bringing all these characters together I feel that I'm actually there with the characters.I thought that I would give this author a try and I'm really glad that I did . Well done book really worth reading and cannot wait for her next novel .
Loved finding out about Tony s life. Was on pins through out the book. Absolute page turner. Well worth a read. Sorry I've finished it and jealous of anyone who hasn't read the trilogy, you are in for a treat. Ten stars from me 😀
I have read a few comments regarding the order of the books which in this case hardly matters. I really enjoyed reading it and getting more insight in to Tony and Jake. Well done Gillian, my only disappointment was finishing the book. Looking forward to seeing what your next book will be.
Omg, just when I thought it couldn't get any better
What a book to get lost in. Tony and his side kick, doing What they do best. It has everything you could want in a boo,k. Twists, turns, violence sex, excitement. It's a no brainer. A must for anyone's library Fantastic.
Another brilliant read the characters and plot have you hooked. I couldn't put it down. Love the glamour, violence, crime can't wait to read the next book in this sequel.
I did not want this book to end ! I presume Francesca is the last so have downloaded it. Great story line and lots of room for expansion which I like. Tony and Jake make a great team. It has left me wanting more
You've done it again Gillian loved Tonys story if I'm honest I didn't want the book to end look forward to whatever you write next well done a must read xx
Tony is continuing to be at the top of his game. We see a more vulnerable side to him with his Grandma. I don't want to give away but this follow up is brilliant. Highly recommend.
I loved the writing style of this book, it’s very easy to read, the story flows well and it has a great plot. There’s glamour, romance, violence and lots of crime. It’s a great story and there are even parts that make you laugh out loud.
The ending set you up perfectly for book 3 and I would definitely read the next one. I didn’t know this book was part of a series when I started reading it. I would have liked to have read book 1 first to get the back story of Tony and Jake but it was a great standalone book too.
What I liked * Dry humour * Great characters * Amazing story line
Thanks to @ggodden2019 and @lovebookstours for the opportunity to read and review this great book!
2nd in the series about The Lambrianu family. Tony is now an adult, running his own club, sleeping around with different women, until the one he falls for seems unobtainable.

I didn't think the second book would be as good as the first they often aren't but I was wrong as good as the first one and left me wanting more great characters and good story
I really wanted to like this story. On paper, it had all the elements I enjoy in a gangland crime thriller, but it was boring. There was nothing to any of the characters, and no pacing. Tony and Jake were dull characters, and the plot suffered because of it.
i enjoyed this book but there’s not really much of a story nothing major happens . i’m also confused as to why the accountant is called the accountant throughout even after they know him well . hasn’t he got a name ?
What a page turner, I could not stop reading, was really hooked from first page and did not want it to end. So looking forward to reading an other book by Gillian Godden. Worth more than 5 stars.
