This somehow manages to be slightly worse than the Optimus Prime book from the same series. The pages are glossy and the pictures are pretty good, but on my one, even the first few pages are coming loose (which is arguably a blessing if they fall out). Quite mad and mindless. I would never give this to a kid, but luckily it's all over in about 20s as the text is so sparse. 1.75/5
I can hardly believe that Rise of the Decepticons and I am Optimus Prime are related! The story in Rise of the Decepticons is better written and more interesting, and the illustrations are so *awesome* in this book! :-) The art is better, the colors are better, and the pictures depict action better. I love the picture of a broken Megatron laying at the bottom of the sea. My nephew and I had a great time reading this one together. And he helpfully informed me that Megatron would come back to life, but that he just needed a new battery. :-)
In this story the Decepticons are trying to raise Megatron from the bottom of the Ocean, they steal the All Spark to bring him back to life.
The story is well done in the sense that it’s a quick toned down version of what happened in the movie, so it holds the Childs interest and they are able to get involved by turning the pages and helping sound it out.
The pictures are bright and colourful and there are 1-2 sentences per page in bold print.
