After completing her education in creative writing at the University of California, Los Angeles, Maria went on to win a multitude of prestigious awards, including the Sheikh Zayed Award, Katara Prize, Shoman Award, Arab Forum Award, and Daybreak Award. She was also the recipient of the Claire Carmichael Novel Scholarship and the Hedgebrook Fellowship, and was shortlisted for the Itisalat and Arab Forum Awards.

Prior to her work as an author, Maria also made a mark as a screenwriter, having written for the popular comedy series Maraya and creating animation for Spacetoon. Additionally, she served as an editor-in-chief for Fulla Magazine. As Maria puts it, "I'm a good storyteller."

كان لطيفا لم يكن لطيفا..طريقة مميزة جدا بعرض قصة للاكفال والتطرق لاحداث تحصل معهم يوما واعطاءهم مساحة للتعبير عن مشاعرهم بكلمات جديدة وممتعة

تحتاج بطلة قصتنا أن تشارك ألوانها مع سامر، صديقها في اللعب، لكن المشكلة بدأت عندما أرادا معا اللون الأزرق, القصة تشرح ديناميكية العلاقة بين أطفال في سن الروضة، وردود أفعالهم على التصرفات اللطيفة وغير اللطيفة، وتتنقل القصة بين التصعيد والتهدئة بالتناوب حتى يصل الطفلان لتفاهم جميل . القصة حائزة على جائزة كتاب العام لملتقى الناشرين العرب لأدب الاطفال ٢٠٢٠ ومن رسم المبدع الفنان وليد طاهر والذي لا تزال رسوماته البسيطة تذهل الاطفال وتمس قلوبهم

كلمات بسيطة لعرض حدث من حياة الطفل اليومية، سهل القراءة وبعض الكلمات تتكرر، يوصل فكرة المشاركة بشكل مختلف وغير مباشر.

تحدث الخلافات دائمًا حين ننظر للأمور من وجهة نظرنا، وتتجاهل وجهة نظر الطرف الآخر.
ومع أن هذا الموضوع قد يكون صعبًا إذا أردنا أن مشرحه للأطفال، إلا أن القصة عرضت الأمر بشكل سلس وبسيط.

قصة مميزة تعالج موضوع مهم بأسلوب خفيف وفكاهي. رائعة!
