I struggled with getting into this at first because Mei’s internal dialogue was so painfully obnoxious to me, but everything else ended up being thrilling and the mystery was a real shock and surprise to me!

This review is for the book Grave Danger - not sure why the book Inference is showing up here. What can I say!! Mei Ling transferred from the FBI in Chicago to be the head of the Computer Forensics Team at the San Francisco Police Department. Her husband remained in Chicago until there was a position available for him in San Francisco. Mei became involved in a case where a huge amount of guns that were stored in the police warehouse were stolen. Why would the perpetrator place items of computers and cellphones in the warehouse hidden within old case files? Whoever had stolen the guns was placing the guns in the trunk of stolen vehicles. The trunk was left open in crime ridden areas for young school kids to remove and walk away with. Why was this being done? What was the motive? People were being gunned down by these guns. Mei was having a difficult time in working with a team, who really didn’t want her as the head of their department. It seemed as if Aaron was definitely letting her know that he wasn’t going to work with her. He was very secretive and always staying to himself. He became offended if she asked him questions about what he was working on. He was always evasive and made her feel very uncomfortable. What was he hiding from her? Would they find out why the computer and cellphones were hidden? Why would someone steal guns from their police warehouse and just put them out in the public to be taken? What were they missing in the heist? Mei was struggling with her personal life as well. Did she really want to be married to Andy? Her family was a traditional Chinese family, and didn’t understand why she had chosen the career path that put her in danger. They certainly wouldn’t understand that she wasn’t sure if she wanted to remain married. This book was definitely a great thriller. The reader was kept in suspense throughout the entire book until the very end. The hints of who the antagonist actually is was very captivating. This kept the reader totally immersed in the book. The plot was genius. The character development was definitely on point, and the reader could relate to both the antagonist and the protagonist feelings and flaws as well. I enjoyed this book very much and am really looking forward to the next one.

I love this series, but this has to be my least favourite. First of all, why are the two central female cops always ending up at the wrong end of the gun? It gets a bit tiring and I lose track of who's getting taken hostage again. Secondly, I'm listening to the audiobook and the reader needs to go ask a Chinese person what we call our parents. It's not Ei-ba and Ei-ma. It's Ah-ba and Ah-ma. Aiiii is Ah-yi. It's grating to hear such obvious errors, especially because they're all throughout the book. Okay, fine if Mei is American born Chinese and she doesn't speak a lick of Mandarin (or is it Cantonese because it's confusing. Both languages are mentioned but at one point she said "Ni hao ma" which is definitely Mandarin). I can forgive the gibberish pronunciation of Chinese phrases but she would never ever mispronounce what she calls her parents and Ah-yi. A case of the reader/producer not doing their homework.

Another great book about the Rookie Club members. Mei Ling is a new member moved from Chicago to head up the forensic computer team. Not everyone on the team is happy with her arrival. The story is about Mei at work as well as Mei’s personal life. She is more complicated than she thinks. Like the first three books in this series, it focuses on the members of the Rookie Club and the SFPD. The books are well written and the characters are likeable as well as smart and caring. Treat yourself but start with Book 1. Each book is stand alone but better if you start with Book 1.

In Interference, Mei Ling has recently transferred to the San Francisco Police Department. She is put in charge of the computer forensic department and her teammates harbor a bit of resentment toward her. She gets to work with familiar characters from the Dr. Schwartzman Series, Hal Harris and Hailey Wyatt. This book is so well written that you will not be able to figure out who the character J.T. is until the very end. There was a point in this story that I thought I had figured out who J.T. was ... I was wrong.

This one is my least favorite in the series...it didn't really pick up until I reached half way through, I really wanted to stop but I have a thing where I'm determined to finish every book I start.

Anyways, for an Inspector, I found Mei Ling could have had a gun, come on you're a cop. That was truly annoying. She seemed extremely young and inexperienced with people and just living life. Poor Andy, I figured he should have known something was really off with Mei.

I must admit, the twist was nice, I really didn't see it coming.

Be careful who you allow a friendship with because they may not become too friendly after a while.

This is book #4 in the Rookie Club series and is the best yet. Loved the suspense, thrills and endless action of the members attempting to solve the case, and murders happening. People who like reading about these things will love this series too. Read this series in order is recommended, for sake of continuity. Gave 5 stars because I loved this book and the series so far.

Fantastic

I've been reading this series all week. A book a day. Can't put them down! This author has such a wonderful creative intelligent mind. I won't be reading any other authors til I've read every book that Danielle Girard has written. These books will keep you on the edge of your seat. My new favorite author and I doubt anyone could be better. I am so happy I ran across her books!

Great story line

I was shocked when I saw the character for the fourth book was Mei. She hadn’t had much to do in the other books so I wasn’t expecting her as the main character, but I loved it. I was able to put more pieces of this story together before it happened but not all. Tons of mystery and suspense packed into one book! Continue to love the series and look forward to book 5!

Finding who you are and accepting it

Mei came to San Francisco for a change. Newly married but not really wanting to be with him cause she carried a deep secret. While discovering herself and at the same time trying to solve her case, mei's life was in danger and there was no clues to who it was.

Love the strong and smart women.

First book I've read by this author. I just bought two more. I like the kinship these women have and they all have each others back. The plot was interesting and entertaining and all fell into place as it unraveled. Intricate plot lines and satisfying ending. A worthwhile read.

Love 💘the series with professorial law enforcement women. Each book of the Rookie Club deals with an aspect of police work done by a woman. This book deals with forensic technology. And the personal issues the lead character has to deal with. Author is great 👍at developing these characters and making you care ❤

Grave Danger is book #4 in this series and what I am reviewing here.

During the first few pages, I didn’t think this was my kind of book. That changed rapidly and I enjoyed this fast paced page turner. Just trying to keep up with everything going on and trying to figure out who was behind the crimes was a delight.

I rated it a 5 even though the ending is confusing. I don't know if I missed who is/ where JT ended up.
This is not a spoiler because you'll know who JT is immediately.

Leave politics out!

The political undertones in this book - actually in the last couple are annoying. I read fiction to escape the never-ending politics in real life. To find it here is a huge turn off.

Very entertaining and interesting storyline about a crime that is proving difficult to solve and multiple crimes being committed to cover up the first one, or is it just a series of criminal acts by multiple criminals ?

I love the Rookie Club Series

Guns were missing from a warehouse. Computers were hacked. Someone inside the department was involved but who and why. Officer Mei Ling was suddenly the target. I love that the Rookie Club Books isn’t just about the same officer each tine.

After enjoying book #3 in the series, this was a disappointment. I liked Mei but she was not dynamic enough to be a lead character here. I didn't hate it, it was overall okay. The ending seemed far fetched as well.

Another intriguing story

I’ve found with this series I’m more intrigued by the women and their stories than the cases. Don’t get me wrong, they’re good, but the author has done such a fine job of embroiling you in their lives it becomes paramount. Highly recommend.

This was a complex, suspenseful, and intriguing story that had many unique twists that will have you guessing until the very end. It's certainly not a story that you'll want to miss.

Not my favorite of the Rookie Club series to date. Was it suspenseful. Yes. Was it twisted. Yes. But it seemed that the emphasizes was more on a personal crisis than on the crime itself.

Really enjoyed this one! I’ll definitely admit that I was surprised at who ended up being the villain, I usually pick up on it about halfway through a book but not this time. Lots of twists and suspense, this is one of the best Danielle Girard books I’ve read to date!!
