Trust the Grind by Jeremy Bhandari is the perfect selection for anybody who enjoys a good novel about sports. Not only sports though, but a novel that focuses on specific players for each chapter. The novel is very insightful and provides the reader with a good amount of background for the players in the story. To be more specific, Trust the Grind has multiple stories of great players in a variety of sports, and shows how they grew up and played their sport at each level. As a young sports player myself, these stories are inspiring to me. The stories reflect when they played at the high school and collegiate levels, showing their conflicts and how they got better. This part of the book is quite important as it is interesting to see how players turned into the Hall of Fame players they are today. Trust the Grind is a fascinating book and should be read for its use of Author/Style, Characters, and setting.

In Trust the Grind, the characters (players) change every chapter. In every chapter, there is a new sports player featured, which is interesting because it shows all different kinds of players growing up, instead of just focusing on one player. This book is also interesting and would be great for anyone who likes sports because through every view of the character the author provides an opportunity for the reader to almost live the life of the player. As someone who plays sports myself, these stories are insightful and empowering for me. Reading the two different chapters of the baseball players was very interesting. I was able to compare the two and relate it to my personal life. The chapter including Tim Hudson was great and entertaining for me to read. The majority of the chapter focused on everyone doubting him as a child. This is a key component of the book and is the main reason why anyone would like the book.

Jeremy Bhandari’s style of writing was the main reason why I read the book many times. I loved how the author made it seem like he was interviewing the players featured in each chapter, but at the same time making the reader feel like they could make connections with the players. Bhandari’s style was also very “reader-friendly” because he made it seem like he was talking to the readers and not just making an informational book about famous sports players. Another way his style of writing was great to read is featured in Chapter Six titled “Don’t be Afraid to Fail”. In this chapter he makes the reader feel like they are watching a baseball game but they are just reading a book about sports.

Jeremy Bhandari displays a theme of something as simple as the title, “Trust the Grind”. This novel is a great example of trusting your grind and always believing in yourself. In the novel, it shows many times when players came from people doubting them, to the “pros”. The theme of trusting the grind and always believing in yourself is a great example for anyone into sports and inspiring stories.

Overall, Trust the Grind was a great novel. I would 100% recommend it to anyone who likes sports or anyone looking for an inspiring story or a story about their favorite sports player. It features great players like Chipper Jones and I would highly suggest reading this book, as Jeremy Bhandari did a great job writing this book.

#1. Brief Summary
The main point of the story is about professional athletes working their way from the bottom to the best of the world it had NBA player Jason Kidd which is an 10 time NBA all star a 6 time all NBA also 9 time all defense and 1st team all rookie he was also a 5 time assist leader an NBA champion in 2011 with the Dallas Mavericks Only Co-NBA Rookie of the Year ever, and he shared it with Grant Hill of the Detroit Pistons, The main characters are Jason Kidd, Chipper Jones, Terrell Owens, Paige VanZant, Manny Pacquiao, Mike Modano, Jimmie Johnson, Gary Player, Deena Kastor, Ryan Sheckler, Georges St-Pierre, Ryan Lochte, Devin Hester, Andruw Jones, Luis Gonzalez, Tim Hudson. The setting is professional sport players because it talks about the struggles these players went through just to get a chance to compete for the thing they love, which for Jason Kidd is basketball
#2. Characters
So the main character talked about is Jason Kidd, and he played for Mavericks, Suns, Nets, Mavericks(2x), Knicks, and he was a coach for the Nets, Bucks, Lakers and now is the coach for the Mavericks and took them to the finals last year he had a good relationship with his teammates Dirk Nowitzki, Vince Carter, Steve Nash, Carmelo Anthony, Dikembe Mutombo he talked about how he had a strong connection with his teammates so he could have good chemistry with them, and he talked about the players he coached and how he developed them into stars the way his behavior is the way it is he grew up playing basketball, and it has been his passion to win in the NBA since he was young because he was ranked as the number one player in California and holds most of the records for that state.
#3. Themes and Messages
The theme is that you should not give up on your dreams because you will always have a chance because they all had to work a lot of days and hours to get where they all are now, and the messages are that even if you don't think you can do it you should do it because you can always do it there's people who are undersized for their sport like Muggsy Bouges and Spud Webb and other small players it is just saying if you don't think you can prove yourself wrong.
#4. Personal Reflection
I liked the part where Jason Kidd was talking about his life growing up in California being in high school being scared when he had the ball at first then getting used to it because his dad forced him to get used to people in front of them he also talked about how he gave up at a certain point then pushed himself and couldn't do anything because he had no confidence
#5. Recommendation
I wouldn't recommend this book because I was bored reading it was only good halfway through the other half was slow, and I didn't like it is just that good a book I rate it a five out of ten it was an okay book and I wouldn't read it again
#6. 2nd personal connection
sports because all the people in the book are sports athlete, and they all have been great players of sports they all have gotten better since they have started and got to the top of their sports and will be looked up too for generations to come but my connections is basketball.

Have you ever wanted to know 6 true hard workers? This is the book for you as it goes through the stories of these athletes and what they did to get to the top. This amazing book named Trust The Grind written by Jeremy Bhandari. This book is one of them. There is no series around it, and that is what makes it one of a kind.I love this book as a whole. People that work hard bring joy into my life. Ready about Jason Kidd and his way up to the nba puts into perspective how hard it is for a young athlete to get to the nba. This book is a very unique book because it states the lessons the athlete teaches after every different person mentioned in the book. Every single story has a lesson and that relates to life too. Every single human has a different story and that is what makes everyone different. For the eyes of an athlete this is a great book. For example, Bhandari states, “while on your path to victory, surround yourself with positive energy individuals” (117). This is just one example of the many impactful messages in the book. As an athlete reading this book it is important to me and could be to any other athlete too. If you are hanging out with the people that do not believe in you or don’t desire a passion like you desire it, it is not good for you. Surround yourself with the right people. If you like to read motivation and the paths of athletes that rose to the top, this is the book for you.
Overall this is a great read because it gives the reader motivation. Reading about people from such a variety of backgrounds to being such a great person and athlete when they got older is a great message. The story of Terrell Owens only growing up with his mother and his grandmother is amazing to me. His dad was out of the picture at such a young age, and he still found a way to push through the pain and become a NFL football player. Secondly, this is a great read because everyone has a different story of getting to the top but they all fall into one category of hard work. For example, Gary Player found ways to mentally prepare for his golf tournaments. Sheckler emphasizes surrounding yourself with the right people. There are many more stories, and these are just some of them. At the end of the way a lot of preparation is in the mind like mental preparation and surrounding yourself with the right people. Overall I give this book a 5 star. It fits right into the category of people who want to learn how to be motivated and disciplined, which is a huge part of our everyday life, and teaches detailed explanations of these things. This is a great book for motivation and discipline. If you are an athlete of any sort this book can hit hard for you. This book can hit hard on anything really other than an athlete too. If you are struggling with a job and need to find ways to push through it, read this book.

These pages are packed full of athletes' success stories as well as inspiring messages and tips for those who want to chase their own dreams.

This book is made to inspire, and using athletes' stories not only resonates with sports fans, but is a great example of how hard work is required to reach a goal. After all, athletes are known to have to train endless hours. And sports is a topic especially youth can often connect with. In other words, I the connection is something the intended audience will grab up and not immediately groan at the idea of being coached about something.

Every chapter centers around an idea: goals, health, discipline, sacrifices, and more. Each one explains the concept and why it's important and also holds real life examples from well-known athletes, who had to do exactly these things. Not only is the information interesting, but it does present the intended message in an understandable way. At the end of each chapter, the main points are addressed in short-form as an easy guide and quick reminder. In other words, the book is written in a very planned way. And it still has heart, so it never comes across too preachy.

At the end of the book, the author invites readers to reach out to him and share their own goals. This adds a very personal touch and shows readers that their goals count—something so important when offering advice and support. In other words, this book is well done and is sure to, if nothing else, offer all sorts of interesting tidbits to sports fans and leaves off with a sense of encouragement. I received a complimentary copy and thought this was a wonderful mixture of inspiration and sports.

This book was a new type of book that I have never read before, and I enjoyed reading it a lot and it was very inspiring. Each chapter of the book was based on one athlete’s idea of how that athlete got to the “top”. It was very interesting to see how different athletes grew up and how they worked to be the best athlete they could be. Growing up as an athlete, there were many parts that I could relate to or get inspired by. But even if you are not an athlete, I think there are many parts of the book that the reader can learn from, and there are definitely many parts where the reader can learn from. I will definitely recommend this book, especially to people who want to make positive changes in their lives.

I loved the concept of this book. HOWEVER, the execution was more than disappointing. The profiles of particular successful athletes was a great idea, but I got lost in the specifics that were way too detailed for the scope of the book. There were a lot of quotes from local newspapers that seemed clunky. I really wanted to like this book and slogged through to the end, but it felt like a poor use of my time after reading the final page.

I picked up this book from my library to improve my mentality and work on my motivation towards the craft. This book was incredible, it involved so many different aspects of both the mental and the physical parts of sports. It can be helpful for leading a healthy life or working towards being the best in your field. I recommend this book to all athletes and people that want to be healthy and active.

I really liked the details that the author used in this book and the insight it brought it to professional athletes lives and how they do struggle but there are things that you can do that will make you not only a better person but a better athlete which I’ve been trying to do, my big complaint about the story is that it honestly wasn’t long enough and some of the chapters felt cut really short but it was such a good book and would definitely recommend for any athlete.

Trust The Grind by Jeremy Bhandari is a great motivational book. The book uses many songs and poems to help guide the chapters. Bhandari brings in numerous guest speakers to ask them how they were able to get to the professional level. All the speakers were from different sports and levels, but they all shared great messages. I would definitely recommend this book to someone looking for some motivation to help get them to the next level in their sport.

Nice breezy read. I like the format where each chapter is about a world class athlete’s story followed by a short summary of the let takeaways. Found this in the teenage section but loved the title and blurb so much that I decided to get it and I am glad I did.

For the right kiddo, this will be great. Each chapter focuses on a different positive message and a different sport. While they are good and encouraging, they weren't my cup of tea.
