A honeymoon in Ireland! What more could chocolatier and café owner Magda Barnes and her husband ask for?
When Sam’s aunt Alison contacts them about the possibility of Sam buying her cottage, it’s an easy decision to spend their honeymoon in romantic Ireland. Once there, they find themselves immersed in family history and mystery. The discovery of an old well stirs up trouble, murder and witchcraft. Add in a magical pendant, hidden places, new friends … and of course, a mysterious cat … for another delightful story from the pen of Olivia Swift!
Olivia Swift loves writing cozy mysteries! Her stories are inspired by her varied interests…gardening, spirits, crystals and so much more. Of course, there must be a romance or two in her books and a happily-ever-after ending! Growing up in a small English village, Olivia is only too familiar with the various characters that make up a community. There is always an event, drama, or mystery amongst the village folk. Only a few years ago, Olivia and her husband chose to take an early retirement and moved to the Aquitaine region of France. There, in her sun-filled study, she is able to sit and write her books. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the window overlooks her lovely French country garden.
When Sam’s aunt Alison phoned him about selling her cottage and moving to the US, Sam and Magda decided to head to Ireland for a honeymoon/holiday and see the cottage, leaving the truffle shop in the hands of friends. The investigation into the history of the beautiful old cottage and the long ago past when an ancestor named Belinda had been burned at the stake as a witch, turned into a dangerous endeavour for Sam and Magda. The discovery of an old well, a fast-moving stream, magic, crystals and a mischievous cat called Jezebel both delighted and daunted Magda and Sam, and the new friends they’d made. What would happen when the past came knocking?
Celtic Spirits is the 3rd in A Chocolate Magic Cozy Mystery series by Olivia Swift and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great characters, psychic cats, a magic pendant, the beauty of Ireland – all made for another entertaining read by this author. Recommended.
Sam has been invited to Kilkenny by his aunt. She is an American who married an Irishman who has passed away and she now wants to return to the United States, but she wants the cottage to remain in the family as it has for the last three hundred years. When Sam and Magda see it, they agree to buy it from her and remodel it to rent out. They begin looking into the family history -- and that is when their problems begin.
Fast paced and enjoyable reading, the paranormal element of the story adds to the mystery of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this from the beginning to the ending! I've already ordered the next in the series!
This was an easy-going, lovely, and suprisingly a well-rounded story. I enjoyed the characters and the setting. The communication was spot on, and the magic was in the relationships that the characters had with each other. I just kept turning page after page until I was done. Well done! I recommend this book!
The Ireland local and history made the story, but I am partial to Ireland and it's local lore. I absolutely loved this storyline. I know my review is not eloquent, but I think fantastic covers it.
Just S soon as I think I have everything figured out the story takes a twist in a different direction. I figure oh, this will happen and no, it doesn’t. Kept me entertained.
Each book gets better. The murder, ghosts and solving of the puzzle was more believable than the standard fare of female lead decides everybody else is wrong and she soles the murder.
I Love this series! The third book and we visit with newly married Sam and Magda who have yet to have a honeymoon. When Sam's aunt sends a letter to Sam that she would love he and Magda to come to Ireland for a visit, honeymoon and discuss whether Sam wants to buy her ancient cottage that has been in the family for hundreds of years. Seems since her husband died, his aunt wants to return to the US where she was originally from. Being able to get away from their businesses with the help of their workers and friends they were excited to visit Sam's aunt, see the cottage and get a little honeymoon on the side. Little did they know they would be involved in spirits, murder, a strange cat, some family history, past witches and evil satanists. But the cottage was everything they imagined. They get to meet some really nice friends and distant relatives, but through it all we see the struggle between good and evil. Will this chase Sam and Magda home or will good prevail? This is a great series with likeable characters you will feel you could become friends with. I can't wait to see what new adventure awaits Sam and Magda in book 4! I received and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Follow along as they meet new friends, hold sceances, and try to solve a few mysteries while they are there. Aunt Allison's cat, Jezebelle. helps as well.
This cozy mystery grabs your attention from the very first and keeps you entranced throughout. The author's descriptions of Ireland's towns and countrysides are wonderful and remind me of my visit there. The history of the country is fascinating and it would be easy to imagine the goings-on that happened in this story since Ireland is a magical place. The characters in this story are charming and well described.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book with no obligation.
Although Alison loved Ireland, it was not the same since she lost Padraig, her husband and she wanted to return to America where her family were. She did not really want to sell the cottage on to strangers so she offered it to Sam and Magda who were very excited about it. They decided that the invitation to view as well as to have a honeymoon in Ireland was just the thing and this was the start to a whole new adventure for the young couple.
Book 3 is as enjoyable as the first 2, a fun relaxing read with spirits of departed witches and Satanists to spice things up. Sam and Magda are a lovely couple, so very much in love with each other and it is fun to visit with them again, as well as to meet the new friends that they make on their Irish holiday. And don't mention the chocolate truffles....drool.....
I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review. That being said, I really enjoyed this book, I hadn't read the previous books in the series but that wasn't an impediment to following the characters in their adventures, there was enough backstory to fill in the blanks without becoming tedious. Since I love chocolate and have an irish background this book was a natural for me, it's everything you want of a cozy mystery, twists and turns, interesting people and of course murders!but with a happy ending :) It had a very substantial supernatural component which added to the mystery nicely.

Immediately they get involved in a murder mystery. With help from new friends, family and another cat with abilities, Sam and Magda are determined to solve the murder. This is the first book I have read in this series and I enjoyed it very much. There is enough background given so you don’t feel lost not starting the series at the beginning. In this story Sam and Magda, newlyweds are offered a vacation/honeymoon in Ireland. They are also offered the opportunity to purchase Sam’s aunts cottage that has been in the family since it was built. The story has great characters, was intriguing and moved at a fast pace. Looking forward to more!
This is the 2nd book that I've read from Olivia Swift. I liked it a lot. Lots of magic, the story goes fast, there is no time to breathe! I just wish there would have been more information about Ireland but, that's just me, I like history and geography too much! The characters are nice, the story is good and I liked that the connection between the American visitors and the Irish locals was instantaneous and friendship was easy to achieve.
Celtic Spirits is a grad adventure. I am loving this series. Sam and Magda honeymoon in Ireland visiting Sam's aunt Alison. Of course, they encounter murder, spirits, an interesting cat, and more. As usual, I am surprised by the ending. Join Sam and Magda as they explore Ireland, make friends (and maybe some enemies), decide if they would like to buy Alison's cottage and solve a mystery. This is another great book from Olivia Swift that I highly recommend.
