I thought I loved him, but he tried to kill me.I have to get away from my abusive ex. He doesn’t want to let me go, but my friends have a plan to keep me safe. All I have to do is stay with Frank. The moment our eyes met, I knew we were fated. My brain’s automatic response? Daddy.
Frank
I’d do anything for my son, Colten. So when he asks me to look after his scared omega friend, how can I say no? Yeah, I never expected my wolf would demand I claim him. Or that the boy would bring parts of me back to life that had been quiet for so long. I’m twenty plus years his senior, but Jaron doesn’t seem to mind.
Maybe he just needs a loving Daddy to take care of him. We both have issues and we’ll need to overcome them if this isn’t going to end in disaster. Can fate make a mistake?
My December Alpha is part of a spin off series. While it can be read alone, reading The Burns Brothers will make it that much better. One click for adorable babies, an omega who needs time to heal, an alpha with a big heart and a growing pack that is impossible not to fall in love with. Warning: Some mentions and two brief scenes of past/current abuse.
Jaron and Frank were awfully cute together. Jaron needs a place to get away from an abusive ex. Frank feels like he can’t move on from his first mate without betraying his memory. Even with this premise, this was a relatively low angst read.
Frank resists Jaron so hard. He’s adamant that he’s going to deny the attraction between them. Jaron finally takes matters into his own hands and seduces Frank with spectacular results. After that, they can’t keep their hands off one another. This was a very sweet read.
I will say that the resolution with Eric, Jaron’s ex, was a little anticlimactic. He is this giant Spector haunting Jaron and then he’s dealt with and nothing comes from it again. Eh. I’d have liked to see a little more follow up there. Overall, a sweet and sexy book that was a quick little read.
This was a great book. I really enjoyed Frank and Jaron together. Frank is still healing from losing his mate and Jaron is on the run from his ex. Jaron stays with Frank to stay safe but these two never expected feelings to arise or are fated to each other. I really enjoyed the tension, chemistry and connection that Jaron and Frank had. While Frank tried to stay away, Jaron just want to be loved. These two have some bumps and Jaron's ex shows up but these two get a really sweet and much need deserved HEA. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read more like this and more from Skyler.
Can a Daddy let go of the past long enough to grab his perfect, fated boy?
What a touching, sweet story. I was enchanted from the first pages. The characters pulled me into their lives, never letting go. The Daddy/ boy dynamic is just right. This book has it all: redemption, an abusive ex, wonderful friends, Fated mates, lots of steamy sex, and mpreg. What's not to love! Frank lost his mate years ago. Since his son got mated, he has been living alone. Lonely. Grumpy. When his son asks him to give his friend shelter he readily agrees. But Frank isn't prepared for Jaron to be his fated mate. After all, he is 23 years older than him, & the ghost of his late husband haunts him. Jaron has been abused by his ex. His insecurities cause him to be fearful. But Frank makes him feel safe. He realizes Frank is his fated mate... and his perfect Daddy. Now to convince Frank. It takes an attack by Jaron's ex for Frank to admit his love for Jaron. He will do anything to protect him. Telling Frank's son he is mated to his friend...Oh, boy. With the help of friends and family, these two will reach HEA. You will love this book! Triggers: past & current abuse, shifter violence. None of these are gratuitous. This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
To my ratings: A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year), it's like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok) It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
When I initially read this story I just thought it was the fourth book in the BURNS BROTHERS series. But actually it's a Spin Off from that series. To enjoy it fully I recommend reading the three books in the Burns Brothers series: (1) Alpha's Surprise Baby, (2) Taming the Alpha, and (3) Fated to the Alpha. The Alphas, Omegas, friends, and family make regular appearances in this book. And you won't get that disconcerting feeling of being dropped in the middle of an established storyline.
This was a very entertaining and at times frustrating May December Daddy and his Boy story. How ironic after giving his son so much grief for falling for an older man, here this Alpha is doing something very similar falling for(though trying to fight it) a younger man who really needs what he can offer: protection, guidance, comfort, security, and unconditional love. Not a relationship with a million strings attached. This Omega has been in an abusive relationship and his self esteem is gone. He needs someone patient who will keep him from repeating the harmful abusive cycle. I really recommend this book, despite the violence.
Poor Jaron went through so much in his last relationship, it left him in fear and insecure. When he needs a place to recover, his friends set him up at the home of one of his friends father, Frank. Frank is an older alpha who's a widower, and suddenly he's got a young, attractive omega in his home who's in need of a protector. When he realizes they're fated mates, he fights it for as long as possible. He feels as though he's betraying his former mate, and he's also afraid of some backlash from his son because he's mated to an older man and he was very much opposed to their mating. Jaron was so sweet and I loved how supportive and protective Frank was of him.
So I loved the Burns brothers series now when I seen this I had to read it. This was just as good. I also thought it was funny how Frank's situation is both the same and different than his son's. Both are in a age gap mating but who is younger/older is switched. Love the changes in Frank also. He sure has grown since the first Burns brothers book. Glad he got a happy ever after. Also Emmet is my favorite even if he is not main focused. He is one fiesty Omega. If you have not read his story you should. Better yet read both series.
Whew! This is a steamy m/m Daddy read and I loved every second of it.
This book features characters from the burns series. The MC Frank is the father of Colton...the grumpy guy from the book 🤣
Frank has already had and lost his mate and is living the secluded life. He opens his home to Jaron who is also featured in one of the books ( emmits bff). But nothing gets a Alpha going like protecting his omega.
Couldn't get enough of Daddy and can't wait for more.
I'm so glad that the author created this spinoff. I loved the Burns Brothers trilogy, and this series started off wonderfully with Colten's dad finding love after the death of his first mate. There wasa little action and great chemistry that kept me reading.
3 stars because I did finish it and I didn't notice any errors. Although I did skim parts of it. Personally I don't enjoy books where the MC denies his feelings so for me it just had potential
I loved this book! I am so happy that frank found another mate, jaron is perfect for him. I love that we heard from all the gang, and love all the pups and pups to be! Fantastic book!!
