I enjoy this book very much. This is the perfect example of "the right book for the right time". As I'm prepping to do research in computer science, I wanted to understand how to write better research proposals. I liked how the author breaks down each topic we should think of. Not only that, but he also brings to the book exercises and questions that drive us to write the right/expected content for the proposal.

If you're writing a research proposal, especially the first part of the book is a pretty good resource. It talks about how to do literature reviews, create research questions, think about questions that make your research topic more focused and clear, and how to think about the methodology you would use.

The second part is more focused on the Mext scholarship, and how you should write the 2-pages research plan. I like his break down but I also should say that not all embassies require the same 2-pages. For example, in Brazil, some embassies require a 6-pages research plan. But there's still a lot of value from reading this second part of the book.
