"Don't sleep with my brother." This was my best friend's one and only request when we were 18. Damnit, I tried. But we were drawn together like magnets. We had one incredible night before he left to serve our country. Then he was gone. A military man on a mission. My heart shattered.
Twelve years later, I'm my best friend's maid of honor in her Valentine's Day wedding. He's the big, bad groomsman. I'm putting on my best "I don't give a sh$t" face, but he's not fooled. I'm his for the taking and he knows it. But all good secrets eventually get told. And now I'm getting booted from the wedding party.
That's the least of my problems. Lieutenant Hottie has dangerous associates. And I'm carrying his precious little secret. Lucky for me, my bestie's bro is a badass. Big daddy, can you save me?
WARNING: This off-limits romantic suspense may induce shortness of breath, unexpected tears, and sudden hot flashes. Please read with extreme caution. The happily ever after will leave you stunned!
This was a great valentine read and I did really enjoy the story although I didn’t love all the characters. I am voluntarily reviewing an Advanced reader copy of this book.
Summer is attending her best friend and who she considers a sister Emmy and Scott’s wedding but she has been hiding a secret from her for twelve years, one that could destroy their friendship beyond repair. She promised she would never get involved with her brother Matt but they spent one night together when she was eighteen and he then vanished to join the Army leaving her with her heart broken, but surely after twelve years she has got over him well she thought she had that is until he is stood in front of her looking as handsome as ever and no matter how hard she tries they just can’t seem to stay away from each other. But Matt has secrets and she about to be caught in the middle of it all, how will they explain to Emmy what is going on and when the truth comes out will she still have the people she considers family still in her life, one thing is for sure she is leaving that wedding with something she hadn’t planned on?
Matt has always remembered the night he spent with Summer twelve years ago and as much as he is dreading seeing her again he also can’t wait, but he wasn’t expecting the attraction or the feelings he still has for the girl who grew up in his family. But his priority is keeping his sister safe during her wedding but when its Summer that gets caught up in the danger surrounding him he knows his feelings for her are far deeper than even he ever realised. Can he really watch her walk away and does he have any choice when his sister finds out about their secret trysts?
I did really like this book and Summer was a determined and independent heroine and Matt was an interesting hero and I liked how he lived his life on his terms but Emmy was not my favourite character and I really disliked her treatment of someone she considered family, something I could not get over if I am honest. Definitely a great read. 4*
Don't get me wrong... it's not horrible. It just could've been better.
(I'll try to avoid spoilers...but I'll let you know if any come up.)
So...
If you read the blurb, then you have the basics of the story: Summer and Emilia were best friends. Emilia's family took Summer in after her parents abandoned her.
We're not told why--whether it was because of Summer's reputation or Matthew's--but Emilia asks Summer to promise not to sleep with Matthew (Emilia's older brother).
Strange request? I thought so.
But whatever... because sometime after Summer turns 18, and before Matt leaves for the Army, the do it anyway.
Now, 12 years later, after not seeing/hearing from/speaking to each other, Summer and Matt will be forced together for Emilia's wedding.
That whole "stay away from each other" thing? Yeah...no...not so much.
That part was rather predictable, which wasn't a horrible thing. But there just too many unexplained things:
*What exactly happened between Summer and Matthew 12 years ago? Matt has a brief flashback, but it was before anything "happened" between them. We get nothing of what happened before, during or after their first time together. It was an issue...but why? *Why did Matt feel guilty/responsible for what happened to his mother? *Why did Matt and Emilia's father treat Summer the way he did? *Why was Matt "emotionally unavailable?" Why was Summer?
These are the things that keep coming up in the story, and it feels like they're important, but they're never expounded upon.
Then there's the whole "Matt has a dangerous enemy" thing. Total letdown. There's one tense episode before the wedding and then...
Nothing. Just... nothing. And I was so disappointed. I like a little drama/danger/excitement mixed in with the smut...ya know? And it seems like so much more could've been done with this bad guy...*SIGH*
I don't think there was a lot of character development. We didn't get to see why these people were the way they were.
And this is just a pet peeve of mine, but I hate when someone expects other people to somehow, magically know what they are upset about. And when the object of their ire doesn't have a clue (how could they?), they say something stupid like "If you don't know, I'm not going to tell you." WTF?? Is this some kind of passive-aggressive emotional blackmail ish? Both Summer and Emilia do this to Matthew. UGH!
And the ending, to me, was just weird. Maybe it felt rushed? I dunno...
There was potential for this to be a really good book and I think my 3 stars was rather generous.
This is a book that flows well with characters that engage you there is enough drama to keep you engaged until you turn the last page
Matt, Emilia and Summer grew up together While Matt and Emilia are brother and sister Summer was Emilia's best friend who lived with them. Matt And Summer's Touching Story Is About Two Damaged And Shuttered Souls Getting A Second Chance At Love.
Summer, thirty, has spent years working odd jobs while pursuing her dream of becoming an actress. She knows she might be too late in life to get a big break, but the feisty and sumptuous beauty has her hopes set on improved prospects if only she could afford to attend ASD Academy in LA. She barely scrapes by, though, and after a year of saving she is nowhere close to affording the tuition.
Abandoned by her parents at age twelve, Summer had been taken in by her best friend's mother and treated as part of the Baker family. But following the mother's tragic death the family struggled and Summer's sense of belonging was again challenged. At eighteen she retained her best friend Emilia, but otherwise she entered the world without prospects or opportunities and with nothing and nobody to rely upon.
Matthew Baker, approximately thirty-two, is from old money. Although he had good prospects and opportunities afforded to him because of his family, he took what was given to him and transformed it into billions. He first left home to join the military, following his dream of getting far away and serving. Afterward he started up a tech security company. He had lost his mother tragically as a teen, and hoped to make the world a safer place. His FindMe app is his crown jewel, but the competition is fierce and his enemies are circling.
Emilia Baker and her fiance Scott agree to have a location wedding in the Bahamas, hosting friends and family for a week of fun. Summer, maid of honor, is nervous about seeing Emilia's brother Matt for the first time in twelve years. He had left for the military without saying goodbye, right after she gave him her v- card. Although both felt guilty knowing Emilia would not approve, Summer was still heartbroken. Already insecure with her place in the world, Matt's departure left her ruined for all other men and terrified of relationships. When Matt sees Summer again, he is shocked to discover their chemistry is as crazy as it was all those years ago. Though no woman had ever compared to Summer, he had hoped time would have tamed his passion for her. He didn't like emotions, and Summer stirred him up every time she walked into the room.
Matt and Summer's touching story is about two damaged and shuttered souls getting a second chance at love. There is a dash of danger that adds an element of suspense. Summer's heartbreaking story serves to highlight her strength and her will to persevere even as she floats rudderless and without an anchor through life. Despite Matt's privilege, he suffers deeply from the loss of his mother. To compensate, he applies himself mechanically to his work while carefully cutting emotion from his life. He doesn't do relationships since there is too much risk.
Matt and Summer's story is nicely written. The plot is somewhat complex; it could be tightened up a bit. For example, it is not plausible that Matt and Summer did not see one another for twelve years. Later in the story, there is discussion of the pair seeing one another at family holiday get togethers, supporting this point.
The characters are well-defined and feel real. Note that Matt and Summer spend too much time going in circles in their heads. It is dizzying at times. The story is written in first person and the POV alternates between Matt and Summer. I rate this book 3.5 stars

I really liked this story. The characters were well developed. I got very frustrated with Emmy, Summer, and Matt several times. They made me want to shake them or smack them upside the head, like come on people COMMUNICATE!
Summer has been best friends with Emmy for years. She even lived with Emmy and Matt and their family for several years after her parents abandoned her. Summer has also been in love with Matt for years but was in denial because she didn't want to upset Emmy. She and Matt had been together once, twelve years before Emmy's wedding week. Summer was determined to avoid Matt as much as possible but with her being the maid of honor and him being the best man, that was going to be difficult.
Matt has been in love with Summer (again in denial!) for years but he is terrified of loving someone and losing them like he lost his mom. He has avoided being around Summer but now that they are thrown together for Emmy's wedding, he is remembering how he felt/feels for her. Matt doesn't want to hurt Emmy, but can't stay away from Summer no matter how hard he tries. He also has some business crud going on that may threaten the wedding but he is trying to keep it under wraps so that he doesn't ruin anything for Emmy.
I did like this story. The 4-star rating was because I kept feeling violent towards them. They were frustrating me with their whole I want to be with you, but I'm not going to tell you and we can't be together because of Emmy. Being that they are all adults, I wanted to tell them to sit down and talk out their crud! There are a lot of feels with this book and not all of them are frustration! I loved their happy ever after. I definitely recommend reading this book.

And of course, once again… Aubrey Wright can do no wrong! This was another fantastic story, where I can be guaranteed of some drama, with plenty of sweet love and romance, and steam! Whilst all of that was there, the drama was different to anything I’ve read of hers before. It had me worried, but still hopeful…
This is a story about Summer and Matt. Summer was abandoned by her parents at age 12 (heartbreaking for her), and was taken in by her best friend (Emilia’s) family. Matt is also Emilia’s brother. The family endured a huge loss, and this affected everyone.
When Summer was 18, she lost her v-card to Matt, and he left the day after, without a word to her. She was confused and obviously devastated. These feelings of abandonment have never really left her, and it culminated awkwardly, when she’s asked to be Emilia’s maid of honour at her destination wedding in the Bahamas. And guess who the best man is… yep, it’s Matt.
They haven’t seen each other for 12 years, and when they do see each other again (which is a funny situation in itself), many different emotions come to the surface, and get bottled up inside. They try to navigate what will undoubtedly be an uncomfortable week away. And considering the roles they’re playing in the wedding, they won’t be able to avoid each other.
There is a lot going on, with lots of drama, and other people getting in their way. For two people who were thought to be allergic to emotional relationships, they do okay.
There are lovely surprises throughout, and this is a story I would definitely recommend!

Quick Review: Surprising! Hot chemistry! Fun read!
Full Review: The description of the book gave away hints, but the story still surprised me! The book was almost split into two stories. I even checked the % to confirm I wasn’t at the end. I liked that there were resolutions given for all of the conflicts throughout the story, not just in the last chapter.
Characters were well developed, even when they were totally predictable! (The bridesmaids were hilariously stereotypical.) I loved to hate Matt. Throughout the book, I just wanted to shake some sense into him. The author did a good job of switching voices to tell both sides in a seamless volley between characters.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. I’m a fan of this author already, but this book is definitely one of my favorites!
*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review. All words, descriptions, opinions, and suggestions are my own.
**It is hard to write a review without spoilers!
***This is my 13th book by the author. I’ve read over 215 romance novels in the past 250 days, this book was read in one day.

Beautiful love story with lots of drama. This is a really great story with wonderful characters. Summer & Emelia have been best friends since they were young & then like sisters when Emelia's family took her in after her own parents left abandoning her. Once she turned 18 Emelia's dad told her to go leaving her to fend for herself, she struggled through her life feeling like she was never worth anything or getting anywhere near her goal of becoming an actress. At Emelia's wedding she met Matt again Emelia's brother who had been off limits but she'd in love with him since they were young he didn't know it though & left straight after their one night together which Emelia never knew about. The chemistry was still there between them & even though they knew it was wrong & it would kill Emelia they couldn't stay away from each other Matt saying that they could keep things just physical between them until the wedding not seeing each again after it. Things were never going to be that easy this story was full of drama, secrets, funny, sweet, hot sexual chemistry but also emotional which had me in tears at parts. I loved this & it is definately a book that I recommend & will be reading again.

Summer is Matt's sister best friend and their family took her in when her parents skipped out leaving her alone. The tragic death of Matt and Emilia's mother left their family broken. Summer had a huge secret crush on Matt. Giving into her crush, Summer slept with Matt the night before he left for military. Matt left the next day without saying goodbye. Now 10 years later Matt and Summer are attending the Valentine wedding of Matt's sister Emilia. Matt sees Summer for the first time when he finds her dancing naked in his hotel room, thanks to a mix up with hotel booking them the same room number. This is just the beginning of the book. There are many twists and turns the week before the wedding. One thing is for sure and that is Matt and Summer still have feelings for each other, but will they get their HEA? It was a book that you can out down. I have said it before but Aubrey Wright just keeps getting better and this is another one of her books that you won’t want to put down. In addition to receiving and ARC copy I will be purchasing a copy to have on my shelf. It’s just that good.
Well this bestfriends brother romance is full of drama, suspense, mystery and passion. One night over a decade ago they stepped over the line and gave into the chemistry. She promised she would look and not touch. The next day poof he was gone, serve and protect was his goal. She floundered for years loosing an up hill battle trying to make her dreams a reality. He went on to serve his country and then make it big. All this time never far from their minds was that one night. A mix up in hotel arrangements brings them face to face. Only things ishos sister is getting married and they are ate both in the wedding. Keeping their hands to themselves is hard. It isn't until they are caught that reality sets in. No more lover, no more bestfriend and a flight home in tears all alone. But fate has away of either kicking while your down or picking you up and dusting you off. Their relationship is a push and push from the beginning and it takes time for them to get their act together but ine thing is for sure with or without him she will never be alone again.

Where do I begin? Summer has crushed on her besties big brother since they were young. Matthew is the one that took her v-card so long ago and disappeared from her life. A tragedy occurred that broke Matt's family and not soon after, he enlisted in the military. Now, years later, they meet again for her bestie's wedding. She is the maid of honor and he is the best man. Summer knows she shouldn't get involved with him again because he shattered her young heart, but she can't stop herself. Matt knows Summer and him are not a good idea, but he just can't stay away. You see their struggle to stay away from each other, but its a lost cause. Then there is bad people lurking, just waiting to come out of the dark to ruin Matt's sister's wedding.
The story line was good, I just wish Ms. Wright went into more detail . The beginning started out slow, with holes in the story. You don't really understand why Matt is constantly pushing Summer away. You never get the full picture since we don't know the back story. I have to say that this is one of Ms. Wright's stories I like the least.
I received an advance copy from Booksprout for my honest review.
Summer's best friend Emilia's parents take her in when her parents abandon her. While living with them she starts to have feelings for Matt Emilia's brother. Her friend made one rule for her not to sleep with her brother. They had one night before he left for the military. He took her virginity and then left her behind. Now years later they run into each other again at his sister's wedding. Just happens that she's dancing naked in her room and the hotel has given him her room key by mistake. Matt is stunned when he sees Summer again but he knows nothing can happen between them. Matt's working on a security app that everyone will be interested in and this has gotten him an enemy because of it. This enemy has followed him to his sister's wedding. When things reignite between him and Summer will this put her in danger as well? What will his sister say about them being together?
This is a great story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

What a great book book Aubrey this one a lot of love and was perfect for Valentine's day. Matthew had felling for summer since they were in high school and the fact that summer lived with Matt and his family during that time it didn't help much for either of them. Summer and Matt fininally get together he has to leave for the army the next morning and never says bye to summer which make for a happy summer for a few years . Summer has had a lot to go through in her life one with her family abandoning her at a time in her life were she needed someone good thing she had Ellimina her good friend to let her stay with her and her family only there was one problem ellima brother Matt how would things change for them and Ellina only had one rule for summer don't get involved with her brother. Summer and Matt haven't seen each for 12 years and they figure that time apart will make it easier to not want each other boy were they both wrong . This book has. a lot drama and some action with some turn paging heat between these two that you won't want to miss.I can say that I can't wait to see what Aubrey writes next.
I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Matt and Summer. She's his sister's best friend and his big mistake. Summer didn't have an easy childhood, her parents abandoned her, leaving get alone. Lucky for her that Emilia and Matt's family too her in. Then their mom passed away leaving this tense at best. Right before Matt leaves for the army they share in a forbidden relationship, a one and only. Now twelve years later Emilia is getting married and Summer is her maid of honor and Matt's the best man. Things start off rough, their rooms are mixed up and he walks in on her dancing. They start a new relationship with the deal it's only physical and will end when they get home. But a threat may ruin their vacation and the wedding. Great HEA with lots of action.

Another great read from Aubrey Wright, You will not be disappointed. I couldn’t put the book down. The book starts off with Summer in a hotel room in the Bahamas for her best friends wedding , reflecting on Matt, her best friends brother . The last time she saw him 12 years ago. Where they spent one night together and he the left for the military. She made a promise years with her best friend not to be with her brother. Needless to say her best friend does not know what happened. from page one you will be addicted. Matt and Summer can not get each other off the minds. Both don't do relationships or emotions. At first they try to avoid each other. But you can feel the tension between the two. This book has everything ,chemistry, suspense, betrayal, second chance and Hea. A must-read.

Summer and Matt had a fling when she was 18, he took her v-card and disappeared the next day. Matt is Summers best friends older brother so she figured it was for the better even if it hurt a lot. 12 years later they are in the Bahamas for her friends wedding and she is desperate to avoid him. Easier said then done when she still has major feelings for him and he is the best man to her maid of honor. Will they get a HEA, will her secret ruin the wedding? You really gotta read to find out!
I really enjoyed this book. It was a great page turner that I couldn’t put down once I started. The story progresses smoothly and the characters are all well thought out! Grab this one today you won’t regret it!!

What a perfect story for Valentine's Day. Love comes.in many different forms and this story shows a just a few, the biggest is the love of family.
Summer lived with Em and Matt growing up, became like family and would not want to do anything to hurt them. But the heart wants what the heart wants.
Years later Summer and Matt still struggle with their feelings for each other and the fear of hurting Em.
This story has twist and turns of of Summer and Matt trying to hid their relationship as well of the mystery of someone trying to harm Matt's business.
This story will keep you on the edge of the seat as the characters navigate through their challenges.

Matt Baker Summer's best friends brother took her v card 12 years ago and left the next day without saying goodbye. Now as her best friend gets married and Summer is to be maid of honour, of course Matt is best man. Summer still loves Matt and vica versa but Summer is still mad at Matt for not saying goodbye when he left and she promised his sister Emilia that she would not go for her brother. Easier said than done when they meet it's like a strong magnet drawing them together. Add in the complication of of rival trying to get information off Matt to boost their own company and boom you've got sexy and explosive read.

3.5 stars I had a bit of trouble getting into this one, seemed slow and a lot of internal dialogue, but I love this trope ( well tropes ) and wanted to finish. The history between Matt and Summer was certainly unmistakable but he fought it SO much! Sort of drove me crazy lol but he finally came to his senses. Summer wasn't much better, she kept telling herself to stay away but just couldn't. So you get a siblings best friend/second chance romance with drama, some action/suspense, tons of steam and an HEA.

I received the ARC from Bad Boy Update. This has a little bit of everything! The forbidden best friend's older brother, a broken heart from high school, no man has ever measured up....Summer is dreading seeing Matt at Emmy's wedding and seeing him for the first time in years while dancing naked in her hotel room is definitely not the way she wanted to see him! Matt left Summer, and his family, for the military and now runs a successful security company. He never got over Summer and seeing her brings it all back, especially the naked dancing! It's the perfect start to the snarky, drama and danger filled romance. I loved it!
Matt and Summer....hmmmm. Yeah these two drove me crazy!! The tension was high throughout most of the story. It made me feel like I was sitting on pins and needles. They were so set in their ways, him more so than her. Then there was the risk of losing her best dry and for all intents and purposes, her only family. But the tension exploded and into each other they fell. Fantastic until it wasn’t. Then her world falls apart. It takes the one she lost to help bring back the one she can’t live without. Then pure sweetness. Lots of hot and heavy scenes, there’s no shying back with the explicit parts, it will leave you fanning your face. A great story!
An unfinished past has lead to a complicated present. Don't Be My Valentine should come with a warning label that reads: "Don't forget to guard your heart." Wright turns dangerous attraction into heartstopping romance. Summer and Matt are a ball of fire that enjoys the chaos. They are their own worst enemy. From spur of the moment choices, to less than ideal situations and secrets that haunt them at every turn, fate may not be on their side. Hopefully love can see them through the unpredictability that is headed their way. Steamy with a side of sensitive that will keep hearts on the edge.
I received this book in advance for a voluntary honest review. I’d like to say a read this book in a day because of the review deadline, but I’d be lying. I could not put this book down. Emotional, hot and exciting. One night twelve years ago was the hottest mistake Matt and Summer ever made. Fighting the attraction and chemistry to protect Emmy, Matt’s sister and Summer’s best friend, they try to avoid each other but chemistry cannot be denied. Soooo good!!!

Wow nothing like fighting your natural instincts when it comes to attraction. Matt and Summer were hot, really well they were in the Bahamas. History aside they still couldnt leave each other alone. I loved how Aubrey expresses the attraction between the two and give and take that ensures. The drama around the wedding and the other characters really made the story speed along as a fast pace. This is a highly recommended book in my view.

I received an arc for an honest review. I really enjoyed with book about Summer and Matt. Emilia, Matt's sister is getting married, and Summer is going to be her maid of honor. Matt, is going to be the best man. With the past still in their minds, can they stay away from each other? They find that the chemistry is still there, and try as hard as they can to stay away from each other, until Emilia finds out and is not too happy. Will they finally get their HEA? You must read to find out. I highly recommend this book.

Aubrey Wright has produced another MUST read! Summer and Matt had one hot night 13 years ago. Matt immediately left to enlist leaving Summer wondering what happened! Their paths meet again when Matt’s sister, Summer’s best friend, Emilia, is having a destination wedding. Summer and Matt’s chemistry is intense! The story includes a mystery, suspense, danger, strong emotions and some very steamy scenes. This is a book you’ll have a hard time putting down! I received an ARC of this book and offer this as my honest opinion of the story.
I really enjoyed the story of Summer and Matt. They've known each other for so long and seems they were always fighting those feelings because Summer's best friend is... Matt's little sister. My heart went out to Summer immediately, the pain of her past, the fight and determination she's always had. She's a strong woman. Their story has a hint of danger swirling around and that added to the story. There's a great flow, great characters and an enjoyable story!
