M.E.G. hits the ground running and doesn't let go. J.L. Stowers does an excellent job establishing high stakes instantly, throwing us into a dying starship with an amnesiac protagonist who is as sharp as she is vulnerable. Meg is an incredibly compelling lead; watching her piece together her wiped identity while navigating a dangerous corporate conspiracy makes for an immersive ride.
For a 29-page story, the pacing is absolutely perfect and the writing is incredibly tight. It delivers a complete, satisfying mystery while beautifully teasing the larger Ardent Redux Universe. It is a brilliant, bite-sized space opera that leaves you eager to read whatever this author writes next.
