Incubus Inc. #1

((Minor Spoiler and Warning at the bottom of the blurb. Please read all the way through.))

Sameerixis, or Sam for those who actually know him, isn’t what you’d call normal.

He’s a door-to-door salesman, of sorts. One that peddles wares, wishes, and whims to anyone willing to pay his prices.

Prices that usually involve a few years of your life, maybe a handful of days, or a single night of pleasure that’ll cost a few hours.

He’s an Incubus that solves problems. Mental, emotional, spiritual, material, and anything and everything in between. Sam can provide an answer and resolution.

A one-man shop and service provider.

Or he was. When he had work available to him.

Unfortunately, he’s been unable to work for quite a while. Due to the simple fact that he’s been imprisoned against his will by an old business partner.

Except something’s changed.

A portal, a way back to the planes, has opened with his name on it. On the other side isn’t what he wished for nor what he feared.

Sam’s made the choice to go back and start up his business again. From the ground up. In just a moment he’ll make that leap over and into another plane.

Little does he know that with that first step he’ll move straight from the known, to the unknown, then to the inadvisable.

Warning: This novel explores dark subjects, and what people will give up of themselves, and each other, to get what they want. The main character is written as a demon from another plane in a tough situation, and will not make choices that line up with societal and cultural norms.

It contains adult themes and moral ambiguities.

As with my previous work, explicit scenes are found within. It has violence and a harem relationship.

I’m finally done with this book!! *cackles* Kid you not, I’ve been looking forward to writing this review. 💀

The first thing you need to know about Incubus Inc. is that this is a book with the targeted audience of straight males who are looking for a fun, raunchy harem fantasy series. I’m definitely not a straight male, and I’ve learned from this book that I’m not a fan of harem, so clearly it just wasn’t meant for me. But it ain’t gonna stop me y’all!

I’m gonna start out addressing the elephant in the room, the sex scenes. Yes it is true, Incubus Inc. is absolutely littered with sex scenes. I don’t think there was single chapter without sex, and our main character Sam banged like, at least a dozen chicks in this book; all described on page. I think more. Couldn’t keep ‘em straight (because there were lots of threesome, see what I did there 😂). Here’s how the sex scenes work, consistently, every single time, in this book:

Sam gets horny hungry (cuz he’s an incubus who apparently feeds on females’ orgasms, more on this later) → He takes his big magic dick to some chick → sticks it in dry (that’s right, without any sort of preparation or foreplay, with this partner described to not have had any orgasms prior to penetration, however they are usually described to be dripping wet → proceeds to apparently rock their world because he’s the ULTIMATE GARY SUE

Pffffffffffffffffftttttt 💀 💀 💀 💀

All right, so, first of all, that’s not how women’s bodies work. Yeah, shockingly, women don’t just walk around with 💦💦 dripping pussies 💦💦 all the time. And with realistic standards, good ol’ Sam is gonna starve by the 2nd day on earth because he puts zero efforts into wooing and prepping his sexual partners. For a powerful ancient incubus, Sam’s game is hilariously uncreative and vanilla. The “kinkiest” he ever got was some light spanking and errr soul-fondling (this is so weird). But he, like, fucks ‘em all really really hard into the bed so it must means he’s rather good hmm?? 💀

Ok, so, you got the gist of the sex scenes. Don’t worry if you didn’t unpack all of that, Sam has SO MUCH sex in this book that by the tenth time you read it, you’re gonna know the drill by heart I promise. So what else goes on in this fun fantasy you said?

The HAREM.

Sam builds himself a harem full of capable, gorgeous, intelligent, and resourceful women. Who all have ZERO independence and agenda. That’s right, these women are all madly in love with Sam, and they all take no issues with other harem members being exactly this way. These women flawlessly executed every single objective of this book (because Sam is described to have no desire to lead, plan, inspire, or achieve anything); but when it comes to Sam, they literally lose all their brain cells and follow him nilly willy (because he’s soooooo awesome and dreamy gurlzzzzz). Don’t ask me why, it’s just the lay of the land ‘round here.

There were so many women that by the end I have no idea who’s who. Mainly because their characters didn’t really get developed or even described, for some of them. By the end they all made a company which they lovingly named INC-SUC (stands for Incubus – Succubus, genius). I know I already said this, but…

Pffffffffffffffffftttttt 💀 💀 💀 💀

But you know what, I was quite entertained and I enjoyed the low-angst vibe of this book. So I’d say I had a good time! I just won’t be admitting to anyone in real life that I’ve read this book though. 🤣

This story was somewhat of a miss for me. I normally enjoy Randi Darren stories, and the style was the same but the story just didn't connect with me. Also making the main character an Incubus might have sounded like a good idea, but in execution I think it turned out to be a mistake. There was (sort of) crossover with the William Arrand book Night Shift. I am not sure if any of the same characters were there, but it was definitely the same universe.

The main character Sam is a Planar lord and also an Incubus. He has been trapped in his own plane and alone for decades. He was betrayed by a friend and has been starving. As an Incubus he survives on essence, which in his case is the energy of a female orgasm. The stronger the orgasm, the better he eats. A portal opens and he is summoned to the prime plane (earth). One of his former clients wrote in her journal about how to summon him, and now her granddaughter is in trouble and has summoned him back to earth. along with emotional essence, Sam also uses life essence. So in exchange for 2 years of her life, Sam will help her solve her problems.

Along the way we meet a bunch of different supernaturals. Imps, werewolves, witches, vampires, cyclops, succubus, and more. In the end I didn't really connect with the characters or the story. If a second book comes out I will probably read it, but so far it is not my favorite.

I liked this book. The worldbuilding was interesting to explore, the magic system was intriguing, and the whole overarching plot seemed like it was going somewhere that could’ve been really cool. Some of the character concepts were great and the raunchy scenes were a bit of fun.

However, I didn’t really click with Sam, the protagonist. I felt as if the plot moved way too quickly to allow Sam to show how he felt about the people he got attached to, so his “love” felt hollow to me. I also wasn’t a fan of how some of the characters I really liked were so attached to Sam that it overshadowed some of the cooler things these characters could do or could be.

The pacing was a little odd. It was slow in some places and way too quick in others. The amount of characters that were introduced in such a short book made it way too complicated. I forgot some characters even existed from the early game until they were brought up later.

Overall, I thought it was a good book. It was enjoyable, especially if you wanted something a little sexy with a lot of moving parts to keep you intrigued.

This book had an interesting premise that led to a great opening act, but then things started to go downhill. Far too many characters were being added too fast for them to get fleshed out properly, let alone care about, and everything started getting a little samey/tedious.

The book ended okay and I like that it fleshed out the world set up in Swing Shift (written by the same author under a different name I think) a little more, but overall it just didn't work for me. Mostly this was because of the tedious 2nd act.

One other gripe was that I got a few hints that this was set 15-20 years before swing shift, but couldn't quite place myself in the timeline to be sure. Obviously Melody the contractor isn't with Gus yet, and I am pretty sure that the Boogey family of a mother and her two children is Gus with his mother and sister when they were children. Couple this with the variety of comments about the up and coming internet makes me think this was set in the 1990s, but a little more confirmation would have been nice.

Overall though, not a terrible book, just not nearly as good as Swing Shift and other works by this author.

Title: Incubus Inc., #1

Author: Randi Darren

Genre: Harem Fantasy / Urban Fantasy / LitRPG

Randi Darren’s Incubus Inc. marks the beginning of a series that blends urban fantasy, harem elements, and LitRPG-style progression mechanics. The book introduces an intriguing premise: a man suddenly finds himself reincarnated as an Incubus, working for a company that profits from the supernatural world by feeding off sexual energy. Darren creates a wild and whimsical narrative that is both light-hearted and action-packed, but also deeply entrenched in a sexually charged atmosphere. Readers familiar with the harem genre will find familiar tropes, while new readers might be caught off guard by the adult themes.

Plot Overview

The protagonist, Anthony, starts his journey by dying in his world and waking up in another as an Incubus, a supernatural being driven by carnal desires. However, this is not just a fantasy world; Anthony finds himself as an employee of *Incubus Inc.*, a company where supernatural creatures work in a professional corporate-like environment. His job is simple: feed off the energy of willing women, gain strength, and continue working as a "company asset." The premise, while clearly adult in nature, incorporates a lot of world-building, supernatural politics, and Darren’s signature humor.

World-Building: The world of *Incubus Inc.* is layered with an interesting fusion of modern corporate life and fantasy elements. The company’s hierarchy, rules, and protocols give the story a corporate satire feel that’s cleverly written. Darren introduces a complex world where succubi, incubi, vampires, and other mythological beings exist alongside humans.
Character Development: Anthony is far from the typical hero. He is thrust into this new role without prior warning, but he adapts quickly, thanks to his pragmatic nature. Throughout the novel, we see him grapple with both the perks and the consequences of being an Incubus, questioning his morality and the ethical implications of his new life. The secondary characters, especially the women involved in his life, are well-developed and distinct from one another, providing a broad range of dynamics for Anthony to interact with.

Thematic Exploration

The novel plays with a variety of themes, most notably the intersection between power, sexuality, and consent. While the story is definitely steeped in erotica, Darren makes a clear effort to emphasize consent and mutual benefit in the interactions between Anthony and the women he engages with. It’s an interesting take on how power dynamics and intimacy can coexist in a fantasy setting.

Example: "Anthony wasn’t sure how he felt about this new life of his. Sure, the power was intoxicating, but every step came with its own set of questions. And sometimes, those questions were a lot harder to answer than he’d expected."

What Stands Out

Humor: One of Darren’s strengths is his ability to weave humor into nearly every situation. Anthony’s witty, often self-deprecating inner monologue lightens the tone of the novel. The absurdity of the supernatural corporate environment also lends itself to comedic moments, making the book enjoyable on more than one level.
Urban Fantasy Elements: Unlike typical high-fantasy settings, *Incubus Inc.* thrives in a modern urban landscape with supernatural beings living in the cracks of everyday society. The book blends the modern corporate grind with magical politics, creating a refreshing take on urban fantasy.

Writing Style

Darren’s writing style is fast-paced, with a good balance between action, dialogue, and introspection. The pacing keeps the reader engaged, even though the story sometimes shifts heavily toward erotica. His descriptions of the world, characters, and their abilities are detailed without being overwhelming. Darren manages to keep things light-hearted even when delving into more serious topics, maintaining an easy-to-read, fun vibe throughout the book.

Action: The action sequences are entertaining and incorporate the progression mechanics typical of LitRPG. Anthony's abilities evolve, and watching him grow stronger while navigating his moral dilemmas is one of the core strengths of the novel.
Adult Themes: It is important to note that the novel is filled with explicit adult content. This is not a book for younger readers or those uncomfortable with erotic themes, as the harem aspect plays a central role in the story.

Criticisms

Repetitive Elements: While the humor and the world-building shine, the book can feel a bit repetitive in certain sections, especially in how Anthony engages with his powers and interactions with his female companions. The sex scenes, while well-written, could be overwhelming for readers who are more interested in plot and action.
Shallow Development for Some Characters: While the women in Anthony’s life have distinct personalities, some might feel that they are not as fleshed out as they could be. The relationships revolve primarily around Anthony's powers and the need to feed, which can leave a bit to be desired in terms of emotional depth.

Final Thoughts

Incubus Inc. is an entertaining mix of urban fantasy, humor, and harem fantasy, set in a world where corporate life and the supernatural collide. It’s unapologetically adult in its themes and embraces its own absurdity with charm. Readers familiar with Randi Darren’s other works will find this novel hits all the familiar notes: humor, a progression system, and complex power dynamics wrapped in an erotic package. It might not be for everyone, especially if you’re not comfortable with explicit content, but for those who enjoy harem fantasy and LitRPG elements, it’s an exciting start to a promising series.

Same universe as Swing Shift but different characters, timeline and general story.

The harem part of this is kinda embarrassing sometimes...
The plot is OK and the story development is good, nothing to forced except... The number of women collected in the harem added to the history grows so rapidly that you kinda don't know who is who.

In times of quarantine, a good way to spend some time. But don't think you're gonna get smarter by reading this.

Premise was much weaker than other books

Abigail summoning him for paltry reasons....also I guess the story fell a little flat for me... not too much happening and I guess with the slow beginning and Abigail’s request being worthless. I almost wish he would’ve moved on to a different ‘boss’ much sooner...

Anyways i like his other series better.

Straightforward and slightly boring harem adventure. There is an irresistible MC, a bunch of cardboard women, a lot of generic "pounding," and a plot that doesn't really go anywhere or have much tension.

Okay yall, you know I read a lot of SMUT novel. Like I mean I read so much I should get paid for it. LOL! But the sex was just okay. It didn't send all those tingly feelings I usually get. And for all the sex that goes on in this book, I would hope I got a little bit of something. But it was very rare and just eh.

Okay, so I did like this book for the most part. I actually like Sam. He is a simple Incubus that gets caught up in too much pussy and their drama. Basically.

There are so many characters! Honestly, it was way too much for this book. I feel like there was no real plot. Just some moment of drama going here and there. I guess there is but there was a lot going on.

Mind you I went into this book completely blind because I really enjoyed the cover. I love incubus succubus being. I always thought since the TV Show Lost Girls they were just honestly so interested. Maybe I connect with them on some magical level. I just got so confused as I kept reading. Like I said there was no real climax in this book.

There were so many clients. They all had drama and honestly, I think it should be rewritten.
Maybe that was harsh, but I felt like something was unfished. I wanted the cases to end and then he has something again. IDK. I just am all over the place with my feeling forwards to this book. Some if not all the characters are likable. That a plus. The magic was so interesting.

I did love all the world-building and the magical creatures that were created in this book.

I mean am I going to read the next book?
Yes because I just wanted to finish everything. Maybe I would like it more now that I am familiar with the style of this book.

Idk!

This was very different than what I expected going into it, but that's not a bad thing. The story is about Sameerixis, the Torment of Lust, and his return to earth after being banished for a few hundred years. What starts out as a "simple" attempt to return to power and maybe get a little revenge on the one responsible for getting him banished, quickly turns into a whole lot more. As might be expected in a book about a lust demon, there's a lot of sex, and of course a lot of it is meaningless sex that gives him power. But as he grows, he realizes that he's changing, and is becoming more than just the Torment of Lust. He's actually a little uncomfortable to find out that he cares about his lovers. Don't misunderstand, he's still banging pretty much ever female he runs into, he's still an incubus after all. He just actually has an inner circle that he's fallen in love with, a new experience for him. I enjoyed the plot and the character development along the way. It's got a lot of twists and turns along the way, and I knew by the end that I'd definitely be continuing the series.

The only reason this book gets 2 stars is because of the potential Jess added to really make this book interesting. The dynamic between Sam and Jess has amazing potential to be something super interesting and the author brushes against that occasionally (specifically when there is a threesome with a cambion) but for some reason the author just doesn't decide to follow thru on it.

The story sets up a positive feedback loop, pushes it in your face and then just walks away from it. Its really annoying because its done early on and teases that that's where this story is going to go but then it just decides to do other shit, gets bored with Jess and Sam despite jess having the same apatite as Sam and only feeding off Sam, she's just not included frequently.... I mean maybe there is a bit of a story there?

Its just kind of disappointing this didn't go somewhere interesting.

I Kept Wondering Where The Trilogy With Sameerixis As The Primary Character Was.

The fact that Sameerixis' trilogy wasn't written William Stand did make it a bit difficult to find. I hadn't realized Stand and Darren were collaborating on a shared literary universe.

This novel, and the rest of the trilogy of which it is a part, mesh with other trilogies written by William Arand (and possibly other authors as well, now that I know Adams's literary universe is shared with others). This is a harem fantasy novel with some erotica elements included (which shouldn't be at all surprising with an Incubus as a lead character). This novel may appeal to some fans of the LitRPG and Dungeon Core genres as much as it likely will to fans of Erotica and Harem Fantasy.

Content Warnings: Adult themes, Explicit sex, Violence, Gore, Strong language

Randi Darren's haremlit follows predictable patterns and I couldn't help but feel like I had read many of the same characters before. There were a few novel scenes and concepts but also a lot of "off screen" scenes. The plot itself was okay but again, follows Darren's cookie cutter model.

One of the things I had been looking forward to was engaging from the POV of an incubus/demon. For better or worse, the MC is very human in practically everything except his appetites and feels very familiar.

I would recommend this specifically to someone who has never read anything like it and is interested in the spice OR who likes the authors work and wants more of the same. Anyone else can safely skip.

A week protagonist…

If you’re a ageless entity literally created shortly after the beginning of the world is the first thing you do upon reentering it is give up all your freedoms and decisions and just start following people around? Because that’s what Sam does… i’m personally not a fan of books where the protagonist isn’t important. The story follows him, however he doesn’t really make any other decisions he seems like a week secondary character more than the protagonist of the story.

Thematic is really good, something just for me. I really enjoyed those lore drops here and there to try to piece the world together. Who would've known that there will be a decent book like that?
Sex scenes were actually well written, but not that skippable, characters often have important dialogue during that, which discouraged my other half from reading. I get that succubus and sex comes in pair, but separating those scenes from big story elements would be nice.

I knew this was an over-sexed harem book from the start, but this goes overboard. What started off as an interesting premise was lost in entire chapters in graphic sex that served no purpose to the overall story. I literally skipped entire chapters because it was nothing more than 15 pages of smut. I can understand a sex scene or two, but it's half the book. If I wanted to read porno, I can find it for free.

Interesting Read

It’s definitely an interesting story and ties in with the rest of the authors world building. I tend to skip over most of the steamy stuff because it’s a bit repetitive but it’s most enjoyable to read the little Easter eggs pepper throughout the story and the action bits.

Interesting

Revenge and hunger are the keys to the world. At least for the incubus in the story. Getting a harem of women to feed upon, but legally (?) by contracting to fulfill their needs. And revenge on the woman who betrayed and imprisonments him. A good read.

Too easy

A very weird form of quasi-MartyStu. None of the main characters can truly die, and nothing really exists outside the narrative. Makes for an odd read, where things happen and you can’t contextualize it.

A nice story. A little slow at time. But also a sweet story in the end. A story of retribution at its core. Only reason for the 3 stars is the fact that many of his other books are far, far superior. Nonetheless, interested in the next one.

Wow just ummmm wow. What can I say but loved it. This was so fun to read. It is and it isn't a love story but this is told completely from the male perspective so it was very unique but really good. So cannot wait to read more. Off to read book 2

The MC to me is the worst or all the MCs in his collection. Before the introduction of Erma he was interesting then when Erma shows up he becomes a subservient husband. Hes not even a partner in the relationship he's the lesser. I normally love Randi's work even tho I tend to have minor issues from time to time. But this to me was actually bad.
