The Princes of Paradise were not what they seemed...It was supposed to be Paradise...the beautiful island my mother and I moved to for her to start her new job at the luxury resort hotel, The Imperial Cutter Hotel. It was supposed to be a new start for me at the exclusive elite Academy where I received a scholarship. The beautiful location, new job, a nice new home for us, and prestigious school for me was enough to entice us to the island of Aeros. But when I met the Cutter Boys, especially Chance, who ruled the island as the son of the owner of The Imperial Cutter Hotel, and whose father started the Academy, all that changed. The most handsome and popular guys on the island, the Cutter Boys were known as the Princes of Paradise. The Cutter Boys were the most gorgeous and hottest guys I've ever met. Too bad they seem to want me gone but at the same time...can't seem to stop wanting me.** Princes of Paradise is the first book in the M.A.G.E. Magic Academy of Gods and Elementals Series, a new adult high school bully romance fantasy series for age 18 and up. This is a reverse harem why choose romance which means there are 3 or more romantic interests for the heroine.

Princes of Paradise

This books seems to be different from what Kailin usually writes. I was expecting a tough FMC but that is not what I read. It's starts off with a bit of a mystery and that continues to build throughout the book. Mac moves to this island with her mother. It's a beautiful island but it's hiding something very secretive. She meets Chance, Varun, and Brandon who she seems attracted to. This book is mainly about Chance and Varun and who they are. You don't read much about Brandon so I am not sure where he stands. I have more questions than answers but overall I was very intrigued. I hope book two is not a long wait because I would like to see where this goes.

This is an amazing book. I started reading it as soon as I had it on my kindle and could not stop. It moves along at a really awesome pace making for an enjoyable read. The characters, wow, you will fall in love with them and yes you might even dislike some. this book sucked me in and did not let me go. It has to be read, no doubt about it. I loved it.

I really enjoyed Princes of Paradise, I think this has just become my favorite from Kailin.

This was such an interesting world that Kailin has built with mystery, with anticipation that builds through out the story. I am a sucker for myths and legends, a sort of dystopian story but with a twist.

I enjoyed the female lead very much, I like them with a spine and some sass. The guys are just as equally interesting.

Overall I enjoyed Princes of Paradise and I cannot wait for more from this series.

I gave this book a 4 star review because I love mythology and legends. Those always make for an interesting twist when written within a modern time period. I also like a dystopian society where the world is different from what we know because of some kind of natural occurrence or human error. This story had both, which made me stick with it. The story concept was interesting enough that it had me turning the pages.
What I didn't like was the idea of a reverse harem. I am not a fan of that trope, thus a 4 star review. Thankfully, this book did not focus on the reverse harem aspect too much. Mac was drawn to Chance, Veron, and Brandon. She did question if she really liked all three, but tried to focus more on finding out who she was in this new environment she found herself in.
I wanted Mac to be a stronger character. I always have high expectations for the female leads. I am hoping that in the next books she steps it up a bit and is not so wishy washy. In the beginning she says she needs to focus on her schooling and not be involved with boys. Then she can't get her mind off of Chance. Decides she needs to forget about Chance and be with Veron, maybe give Brandon a try. Then decides she needs to focus on figuring out who she really is. It was exhausting just trying to keep up with her and her inner monologue. I was just hoping she would just put on her big girl panties and take care of business. If she is who she thinks she might be, she will have to come across as a force to be reckoned with. Be a strong character that we can get behind.
I'm going to stick with this series because I am invested in finding out what's going on. There are too many intrigues and unanswered questions. Since this is categorized as a reverse harem, I will just skip over those parts or, at the least, just roll my eyes. The rest of the story is just too good to let this keep me from finishing.

DNF - quit at 36%
I had a really hard time with reading this book. It started off with Kindle settings not letting me do a black background, and that made it hard on my eyes, by 36%, I had a headache & couldn’t care. I double checked several other books, that let me do the black background with white lettering, but not this book.

Then the writing style was strange, directed at a youthful immature reader, with too much angst for my tastes. The mystery felt sort of like a gothic type romance, which if done right, can be cool. This was lacking though. The attempts to write overly flowery descriptions hurt the reading experience, too - which is not how people think, talk, or speak. Not everything needs to have such dramatic descriptions, too many just feels forced & unnatural. They are better when used lightly in places that need an extra oomph. I also didn’t like the characters, they fell flat for me, nothing drove me to care about them. At the 36% point when I quit, other than the prologue & mysterious fire at the luau dance at the hotel, there was no paranormal activity going down. I suspect it’s all a mystery to work up to in the story, but come on by 36% I was wanting it to show some signs of paranormal stuff & not for it to just feel like a contemporary type academy bully story.

So, no, I won’t be continuing with the series.

At my age (approaching 60), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

I love books with Gods and Goddesses in them especially Greek ones. So this book is right up my street. The students at Aero Academy are not all that the seem as Mackenzy (Mac) slowly finds out during the course of this book. As well as finding out a few secrets about herself too. When her mum gets a job working for the Cutter family Mac comes face to face with Chase, Varum & Brandon Cutter. They bring a lot of complications. I really liked Mac but my mind isnt made up yet about the guys. They all seem to have plenty of secrets that theyre keeping quiet about. Still this first book was pretty good & i enjoyed reading it

Once I started reading this book, I realized I actually read it years ago. I couldn't remember everything exactly so I continued to read until the end.
I do love the story! Even though I am sure I finished all of this trilogy, I will likely read them again when they are available.

For the life of me, I can't remember how I was able to read it though... Maybe it had a different title?
THE FIRE WAR Trilogy!!! I read it in 2012... I wonder if it ends differently?? I'm so confused!

I don't remember the 2012 version being a RH.. maybe that's the difference..

This was my first story by Kailin Gow. This was a pretty decent read. I'm sort of new to academy stories, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm going to be honest, it was a little slow until the mythology was introduced, then I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to see what happens next

I received an ARC and voluntarily gave my honest opinion and review

Kailin Gow is a new author for me. For this series she has developed a world of fantasy and mystery. All is not as it seems...add a developing RH to the creativity of this world is genius. It held my attention to the end. Interesting characters and a storyline that kept me guessing.
I still have many unanswered questions...will definitely be checking out Book 2.

What a start to a new series by Kailin. I enjoyed this book from start to finish and can't wait to see where this series goes. The way this book started had me hooked and with the mystery of the past you can't help but to want to read more to find out what's to come.

This new series started with a bang. This book is full of mystery and twists and turns that grabs your attention. Throw in one girl and three alphas, who doesn't love a reverse harem and you have a great beginning to a story. Ready for book 2!!

A great new series

Wow I totally got sucked into this book. Each page keeps you turning to learn more and to see if Mac chooses Chance or Varun. With a couple steamy moments and plenty of twists I didn't see coming this book is totally one I can recommend reading.

Fanfreakingtastic unique new series

What a wonderful new series unlike anything I have read before. An interesting new world after the face of the entire earth changes, but not in a typical dystopian way. A fancy private school, a secret scholarship, some odd encounters, and a few boys that the FMC feels instant connection with all make for one hell of a story.
