A brave new world

I've been a voracious reader since I was 4. I can fly through books, like a bag of chips. I wouldn't let myself do that with this book. I savored it, page by page, totally immersed in this strange and wonder full, ominous yet hopeful world Mr. Hamill has created.
It's like nothing I've read before, a world where horror seamlessly melds with science fiction and science fantasy. It's a world where science stopped working, and the what we thought were immutable laws of Nature stopped working as well. The sun becomes our enemy, shadows hold terrors, real and imagined, water doesn't boil, fire is malevolent, and infinite other Earths are battling for shared space on our one Earth. And through it all mankind's determination to survive persists.
I found it was a coming of age story too, not only for mankind in this new Earth,, but for several characters throughout the series. If this is the end of the series, I can see it ending on an optimistic note. But, I have to admit I will forever want to know what happened back in the bunker, was it man-made by "our" Earth, was it here from a different Earth., did The Center and Charlie, AIs who had split apart from a central AI reconcile, did anyone stay behind at the bunker. I can see a whole slew of fan fiction based on this world Mr Hamill created, not unlike the slew of fan fiction based on the Wool books from Hugh Howey. If you haven't read The Extinct series, do it, and sooner than later...

I will miss them

I read the whole series and these people have been part of my life for a while now. I will miss them. I would like to see this series made into a movie or tv.show. 🤗

good book!

Ok, maybe “good book” is over simplifying it, so I’ll elaborate. I enjoyed it, but some chapters way more than others. The positives are, I liked the development of the characters, the sun causing all the time shifts (spoiler alert!) and other nasty changes in people and animals, was a very interesting plot line! I loved the fact that this is about survival against unknown enemies, but they always find a way to move forward.
The negatives- so many sub characters it was hard to keep them straight, and the story sometimes got bogged down with a lot of side dialogs, that really weren’t important (my opinion) . It would have been just as good, maybe even better, if it was just shorter with less little details.
I would love to see some kind of legend listing where they lived and who were in their family groups, including the dogs!

Riveting Post Apocalyptic

Succinct - Book 5 of the Extinct Series. Full of as much action and adventure as the previous books, and so much more. Many years have passed since the churn, and the world (or is it worlds?) has moved on. Young Robby is no longer a child but a man with children. Old characters you will meet again and new characters will be introduced. All of the characters are unique in their own way, very in depth. When Bobby's oldest daughter decides she's going to go exploring in hopes of finding answers to the latest oddities, she will find her biggest adventure. In the meantime, things are getting weird again. A definite page turner with passages that you will find yourself holding your breathe. A great read which will leave you pondering, is this the end, or will we move on again.

Solid end to a great series

Favorite characters once again contending with an apocalyptic world. This one is bittersweet as I'm not ready to say goodbye to this crew. This series will make you see the world around you in a new way. Love it!

Excellent Series

Wow is all I can say. This was a grand journey from beginning to end. Scary too. This is something that I can see really happening to the real world. The struggles would definitely be real. Many thanks to the author for a job well done.

This is a great addition to the Extinct series. This is the fifth book in the series and we get to catch up with beloved characters years after the last novel. We are also introduced to some new characters who are great additions to our little group. It was nice to see how the characters have grown and also how the society they have developed has grown and, since they haven`t had to deal with any new threats for so long, how they deal with the new challenges that are being thrown at them.
This novel is incredibly long, but flowed really well.
