The battle royal style tournament has been announced and so have the stakes. The people of the universes 6, 7 and 2 scrabble to complete their teams of 10. This is a filler issue. Plugging the gaps of things like a movie that was mentioned but not done in the comic, and how a character returned. This is a good but slow volume.

EN The battle royale between all the Gods of Destruction has concluded.
Now, preparations are underway for the grand Tournament of Power between the twelve universes. Each universe must select ten participants, and the tournament will take the form of a massive royal rumble featuring all 120 warriors. The universe with the most fighters remaining at the end will be declared the winner.
It’s at this stage that we realize Universe 7 — Son Goku’s universe — doesn’t have many truly powerful warriors. This leads to the return of some familiar faces we never expected to see in combat again, such as Krillin and Tien Shinhan. It’s a nice nostalgic touch, and I’m curious to see how they’ll perform.
There are also a few surprising choices among the selected fighters — but I’ll leave those for the reader to discover.

The old gang is back, got so much Z vibes from this volume, this new team has all my favorite characters, it really is my dream team, now onto yet another Tournament.

This one is definitely still holding the same visual quality is the ones before it, but mostly knowing that half of this was just buildup to the tournament of power, it just felt like a definite branching and filler arc which get you always need for story and to ease out the seams, but I just want to get back to the over the top action. 3.5/5

Watching Super and Reading it at the same time, the way they are so different at this point is crazy.
So Goku has to recruit 10 people for the tournament of power. Whichever universe losses they are erased forever. So Goku has to pick wisely. In the manga this process is a hell of a lot quicker. Basically he recruits everyone, Freeza too, in a matter of a few chapters. The ending is the start of the power tournament and everything is set in place. This is a set up volume but it's still highly entertaining if nothing else. A 3 out of 5.

Life, training and…
The volume starts a couple of weeks after the conclusion of the Future Trunks/Zamasu Arc. Everybody is living their lives as any mortals do and Vegita being as he is, tries to surpass Goku while his busy on the farm.

Atleast Goku’s finally doing something. As a fan of Dragon Ball since childhood it’s actually a treat to see Goku doing some real adult more. I’m not saying saving the whole goddamn galaxy is not a noble cause, I’m just saying that Goku a 40 something year old man with a family of his own (and a grandkid) needed something to pre occupy him.
Aaaaannndd It really didn’t take long for him get bored on his job.

The battle between these Gods was slightly underwhelming but remains sold as something extraordinary and impossible to the reader. The story then shifts it back to mortals and introduces the premise for the next story arc that expectedly looks to capitalize on classic characters from the original series in order to continue to sell.
This really shows that a lot about Dragon Ball Super is just a trip down memory lane more than anything else. There are some intriguing new ideas that are teased but they remain sub-plots for the time being.

This one was quite fun as we have the face off between Toppo and Goku and the fight they have is amazing and we just see how powerful he is and then the setting of the tournament and the rules - 10 warriors from each team in a casino royale battle and the moment they're out of the ring, they are disqualified. The main thing here is we check in with Uni 6 and meet Kale and Caulifla and then in Uni 11 we meet the Pride troopers and finally JIREN! And whats that wish he wants! Plus the gathering of the 10 Z-Warriors in Uni 7 and its funny how Goku manages to recruit them and then we have a fun face off between Goku and Freeza! It was a fun arc and sets the table for a lot of things to come! The art was spectacular and it was a nice breather volume before the "Tournament of Power" arc!

I actually found this one refreshing. It was a transitional volume leading into the next arc of the story...but the little moments in here are the ones that I adore in DBZ so I appreciated it. We're introduced to a plethora of new character as each universe must fight in a tournament in order to not be erased. It has potential and I'm looking forward to it. :)

Okay, now I'm incensed.
Why is everyone seemingly maturing and developing, but Goku is shown as becoming so much less than he used to be? Here he's portrayed as supremely egoistic, a terrible father, a terrible friend (lying to everyone), and exceedingly dumb to boot - whereas Vegeta, of all people, suddenly turns into an empathetic character with so much adult responsibility that he actually decides to stop his training to be with his wife during the birth of their second kid? Give me a break.
It all shows to me that either Toriyama lost enthusiasm for his creation and is taking the piss or that writing manga in a duet is not a good idea.
The art remains visibly inferior, but I had hoped the story would pick up at last. Yeah, right.
The worst volume in the whole history of DB. Why won't Zeno just erase it from the universe?

Gotta say, Toyotarou is really good at planning chapters such that the eventual tankoubon releases are nice and succinct. The first chapter continues from the Hakaishin battle royal from Volume 5, but the rest of the volume follows the set-up for the actual Tournament of Power, ending with the Universe 7 team all gathered and Whis teleporting them to the arena.
We get our first introductions to Jiren, Caulifla, and Kale. More importantly, we get back to Android 17 and Freeza, foreshadowing their eventual success as major players in the Tournament. Even more importantly, though I guess some people might not care too much for it, we get motherfucking Oob!
Props to Toyotarou for giving a shit about Super Saiyan 2. I actually can't remember how often we've seen Goku go SS2 previously in the Super manga (we've had Trunks's mastered SS2 versus Goku, though). Like with Fat Boo ages ago, Goku sets up a "AND THIS IS TO GO FURTHER BEYOND" thing by displaying all five of his current transformations in his little exhibition against Toppo for the Zeno twins. Humorously, Zeno doesn't care much for SS2 at all, believing Goku to have barely changed at all ("Did he really change? I don't feel anything different..."). Even funnier, the Lords of Everything show great excitement for SS3 ("Yay! Goku's face looks scary now!" "This is fun!"). SS2 always got shat on in Toriyama's work: first, the editor kicked Gohan out of being the new protagonist, so the biggest SS2 moment didn't get to last long; second, Goku was forced to have a new form, so Toriyama made SS3 look silly with its hair and missing eyebrows; third, Vegeta has to go evil again (Majin) to reach SS2 himself, and still gets beat by SS3 (that is, he beats Goku, but later finds out about SS3 and realizes his rival went easy on him); overall, non-Gohan SS2s look too similar to SS1, barring the electricity among the aura, so it's often hard to tell when SS2 is happening without Toriyama letting us know. Toyotarou's made sure to give Goku a concrete SS2 form, with a distinct change in his bangs (pretty sure this is based on Toriyama's art, but Toyo remains more consistent). I think it's safe to say Toyo is a big fan of SS3 (as clear as it is he's also a big Vegeta fan), hence the praise Zeno gives the form. But just in case we make the mistake of thinking Toyo is shitting on SS2, we get a later glimpse during a masked Goku's little battle against 17, when we see the electricity in his aura, and can kinda see his bangs through the mask's eyeholes, and it's a little odd to think Toyo had Goku jump straight to SS2 and later to 3 when the main progress for Goku is to start SS1 then activate God ki to go Blue (his basic strategy), or otherwise instantaneously power down from SS while activating God ki to use SSG then reactivating SS to get Blue (which he did against Hit). I guess the match against Toppo put Goku in the spirit of exhibition, and so he decided to do 2 and 3 versus 17? Makes a little more sense than having him go straight Blue to show how overpowered 17 is (which I think the anime did).
Anyway, best thing is that Toyotarou doesn't put the fucking lipstick on Kale that makes her look like a chola in the anime. Makes all the difference, and she's a lot cuter here. Of course, this is the same artist that gives Cabbe a little more muscle definition, proof enough that Toyo maybe cares for the characters a little more than Tori....

A slight disappointing end to the god of destruction exhibition fight but it does show more reasons for the rules imposed on the tournament of power compared to the anime. Quite an enjoyable volume, android 17 comes off much better here than in the show. At the end of it all this volume was really just a bridge to the TOP. I think my favorite detail was showing Zeno moments away from eradicating the 8 universes with Goku stepping in at the very last second. All in all good.

Arc 4: Tournament of Power Saga
The battle between the Gods of Destruction is stop by Lord Zeno as he was bored. Goku enter the ring to fight Toppo, the candidate of God of Destruction of Universe 11. Goku lost the battle. Toppo said he is the second strongest in his universe after Jiren. Jiren is said to be stronger than the God of Destruction itself, Belmod. Jiren have a high sense of justice. The Tournament of Power is set to be held in World of Void. Every universes must send 10 contenders and they will fight in a format of battle royale for 48 minutes. They winning universe will have the Super Dragon Ball while the losing universes will be erased by Lord Zeno. Universe 1, 5, 8 and 12 will be exempted from erasure as their mortal level is above average 7.
Beerus and Whis assemble a team consisting of Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, Android #17, Android #18, Tien Shinhan, Master Roshi and Boo. Boo falls asleep for 2 months and replaced by Gohan. Now, Universe 7 team short on 1 people. In search of team members, Goku see Uub, Majin Buu's reincarnation. The 10th members is Frieza. Fortuneteller Baba bring back Frieza to Earth for 24 hours. Goku promised to Frieza to bring him back to life using the Dragon Ball after the tournament.

i watched the anime and i can say this volume was so good it consisted of universes getting to battle each other when goku talked to zeno and said he wanted to be in the tournament of power no one really was happy with that because that meant if goku and his universe lost. then his whole universe would be at risk of getting destroyed, that is why goku made sure to get the most powerful allies of his universe to make sure they actually put up a good fight with the other universes. lord beerus makes sure to take goku and vegeta under training so they can reach new and more powerful strength he did do this by training them well not exactly whis trained them and that's how they became so powerful i can't really express how much emotion i felt when goku turned into a mastered ultra instinct it was indescribable because that's when the show became way better i mean the show was good before but this was on a whole different level of good. vegeta lended goku his last power because goku was in a lot of trouble do to jiren fight jiren is one powerful dude i got to give it to him but he will never be as cool as goku goku made sure to defeat him from the help of frieza and 17 he achieved it.

I want to start this review saying that the pace of Dragon Ball Super is impressive. If you think of all that has occurred to get us to this volume...it would have potentially taken almost double this in the original series! The Zen Exhibition Match between the Gods of Destruction ends, and the rules for the main event are set. The scariest thing about this is that the penalty for losing...is being ERASED! I will say as a Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z fan, the missteps by Goku and Vegeta alone has put Universe 7 in dire situations for years now...but this one just might take the cake! The return of a character we haven't seen in a loonnnng loooonnng time which to me was the whipped cream and cherry on top of this volume! There are at least 3 shocking moments within this book, but I don't want to ruin it...but know it was enough to give this a 4-star rating!

Przyznaję się bez bicia, że oceniam wyżej niż powinnam między innymi z powodu Siedemnastki. Ale o tym, dlaczego wolę jego wersję z Super niż tę z GT może innym razem.
Jeśli chodzi o czystą akcję, to nie można powiedzieć, aby w tym tomie podziało się za wiele. Jednak jeśli chodzi o znaczenie wydarzeń, które miały tu miejsce... sprawa ma się trochę inaczej. W końcu zapowiedź turnieju, od którego zależy istnienie całego wszechświata to nie byle co! Szczególnie jeśli spojrzeć na to, do czego zostali zmuszeni nasi bohaterowie, aby zebrać odpowiednio silną drużynę.
Dobra, ja też sobie śmieszkuję, ile to jeszcze razy będą wskrzeszać tego biednego Freezera, ale tym razem nie mam z tym żadnego problemu. Wręcz przeciwnie. Fakt, że Goku i spółka oraz Lodówka są zmuszeni do współpracy, aby przetrwać prowokuje zaistnienie paru ciekawych kwestii.
To nigdy nie będą przyjaciele, ale jednocześnie łączy ich pokręcona i nierozerwalna relacja. I jedna i druga strona miała ogromny wpływ na siebie nawzajem. I tak samo - i jednej i drugiej stronie najbardziej opłaca się współpracować. Na razie...

Why pull a random volume of Super? I’d read through all of Super years ago as the Moro saga approached its climax. At least I think it was nearing the climax. Dragon Ball can be kind of interminable with the planetary/universal threats.
Turns out this was the perfect volume to read on a lazy day. Classic “let’s round up the Z-Warriors” story with the added benefit of the adversarial universes gathering their own fighters. Not much action, but what’s there is cleanly drawn and entertaining.
Cracking this one open was an exercise in Why am I continuing to read Dragon Ball? but after one chapter, I remembered why. It’s fast. It’s dumb. It’s fun.
And now it can grace the shelves of a little free library.

Este tomo es mitad nostalgia pura, y mitad presentación de los nuevos personajes que van a pelear en el Torneo de Fuerza para decidir qué universo de los 8 que compiten va a sobrevivir. Por más que no hay mucha pelea me pareció muy entretenido con el viejo y querido humor de Toriyama, y momentos geniales, como la presentación del décimo luchador del equipo de Goku, una adición muy inesperada.
Espero que ya que han vuelto varios personajes de la serie anterior que puedan tener su momento en el torneo y veamos la vieja guardia en acción, y que no sean eliminados tan fácilmente.
Como ya es usual, el dibujo de Toyotaro es más que excelente.

Diferente dos primeiros três números, Dragon Ball Super vem se mostrando, desde o número 4, uma HQ completamente ativa e bem interessante em suas divertidas ideias para a continuidade das histórias de Goku e sua turma.
Falando exclusivamente deste número, temos um prelúdio que pode até enrolar como uma prévia da premissa, mas não deixa de atiçar a curiosidade do leitor e - principalmente - divertir. Com boas referências a fase Z (e algumas novas roupagens do que foi visto em GT), a revista funciona e mantém uma fluidez em sua narrativa, o que facilita que se queira sempre o próximo número deste título.

Tras un quinto volumen que flojeaba y que con el anuncio de ooootro torneo más (suspiro) no hacía presagiar nada bueno, este sexto volumen sorprende y tras una corta introducción con un pre-torneo se centra en la preparación del auténtico torneo (que a su vez dará un nuevo giro -menos mal- y será un todos contra todos) y en montar un equipo en el que volveremos a ver muchas caras conocidas. Acaba en todo lo alto y deja con ganas de lo que está por venir.

Once again, Goku is being Goku and has said too much. The Zeni's have become bored with humanity and thanks to Goku's suggestion, the various universe, save 4 who are considered to be superior, must battle it out for survival with the losing universes being erased for good. Goku must gather nine fighters to compete with him for survival.

This volume is all about gathering the team for who will be fighting in teh galactic tournament. There are a lot of great character introductions especially as Bulma's and Vegeta's baby is born and Goku meets up with Android 17 for the first time...ever. Still it is a bit light on the action which is why the score isn't higher.

The volume serves to set the stage for the Tournament of Power. We get some displays of what’s to come - and Goku realizes things will be harder than he thought. The highlight of the volume is the recruitment stage, and as good as it is, the anime simply did it much better, adding more intrigue and showing us WHY the characters were chosen in the first place.
