I was looking for a quick fun read, and this book delivered. I finished reading this in less than two hours and had quite a laugh throughout.
Jack Robbins couldn't ask for more. He has a booming coffee business, investors who want to turn his shop into a franchise, loyal customers, and a loving pet dog. But when a new tea & scones shop opens next door, he finds competition in Suzie McKenna, the pretty owner with an overprotective brother and the most delicious teas and scones Jack has ever tasted.
They didn't leave the best first impression on each other, and somehow they both caused each other to unleash their competitiveness. If not for the volunteer work to help plan the downtown festival, they would never have found out how much they get along and enjoy each other's company.
Their antics to one-up each other was quite entertaining to watch, and it was cute when they finally got along and went out. However, there were times when it felt like they were teenagers instead of adult business owners. That's my only complaint, if you could consider it that.
This clean romance had funny side characters, cute moments and little to no drama. If you're looking for a quick read to make you smile or laugh, this book might be for you.

An absolutely adorable romance! Our heroine opens a tea shop next door to our hero’s coffee shop. They have a few cute dust ups but when her brother, the jerk, gets involved the dust ups go from cute to street fights.
Lots of fun and almost too cute. A great read to cheer the heart. 😘

This was just what I needed :) It was light-hearted, funny, and an easy read. Nothing out of this world, but the right amount of humor to bring a smile to my face and I even giggled a few times out loud. Enough romance to get a few "Ah's" and maybe a butterfly or two. All in all I liked it!

Jack Robbins owns his own coffee shop and his cute Chimichanga. Jack practically lives coffee and if his sales keep going up Jack will be a chain store. One day a Tea store opens up next door Jack starts freaking out cause of competition that the store will bring. Until he meets the owner Susie she's beautiful and Jack starts thinking about asking her out. Funny story and little romance added to it! I loved the character Harvey he made me laugh out loud! A must read for all those who love funny, romance books! 5/5 sweet, funny, romantic stars .. I received this book for a unbiased review

I was given a copy of this book to review and it was a superb book. I LOVED it. I would give it more than the 5 stars if I could. Its a great romantic story with a good plot line, chemistry between 2 people and comedy in the mix. A nice clean romance. I couldn't put the book down and read it in half a day. It was good and I have found another new author to love. Sure am looking forward to reading more of his books in the future. Cant wait to find more. :D

4.5 stars: cute, fun, and wholesome— like a Hallmark movie in book form! Nicely narrated by Greg Tremblay. I thought it might be weird listening to chick-lit written and narrated by a man, but having read others with male-narrated chapters, it really wasn’t strange at all and I felt that it worked in this book. A short and easy listen with some funny moments and characters that kept me chuckling throughout. I’d definitely be interested in reading/listening to others by Rich Amooi.

Everyone has their own opinion but I really can't understand the 5 star reviews. The characters, although owning their own businesses, acted like 12 year old children. Funny at times, especially Harvey the supposed hypochondriac but all in all, a rather insipid read.

This was one of those run of the mills romances. Nothing you haven’t read before, but Greg Tremblay sure made it worth-while listening to it.

Not as funny as I thought it was going to be. And I’m not a fan of “tell” instead of “show”. One bonus star as this is a male author writing chick lit - how often do you get to see that?... - and the book is perfectly clean.

Reading this book has been a wonderfully mood-lightening experience. Rich Amooi has captured the essence of a good and honorable man in Jack and made him into a romantic and caring person. As I do believe that there are men of is calibre on this planet (one just has to look real hard sometimes to find them) this story was rather special to me.
In Susie we have an ambitious, clever and hardworking young lady who falls in love, has her dream crushed and her knight in shine armour takes over and saves the day.
Hope I'm not giving away too much here but you have to read this book yourself to find out what all the twists and turns in this story are about.
Rich Amooi has written a clever and entertaining story, one that can be read in one sitting. And I dare you to try and wipe that smile off your face, because he has a really great sense of humor and a unique and quirky writing style.

I found the two leading male characters childish and annoying, while their jealousy of each other caused them to try to out do one another.
It was ridiculous! My choice of adventure and escape are not aligned with this book at all. I found no humor in squabbling. What was the point?
Finally I closed the book and chose a more interesting book to read.

Hilarious and Brilliant
This was an uplifting, hilariously motivational, cheesy romantic novel. I don't know how Rich does it, but he has a knack for creating endearing characters. The storyline reminded me of You've got Mail (1998), starring Meg Ryan. Though this was different in its own way: Susie is opening a tea shop in Mountain View, and next door is Jack's Coffee Cafe. As you can expect, there is a lot of competition, and resentment, and things are getting quite heated, quite rapidly....But Jack is falling for Susie, the woman who is supposed to be his enemy. I guess the heart just wants what it wants, not caring for the complications. You'll have to read this book for yourself to find out how their story ends.
From the beginning of this book I was rooting for Jack and his coffee cafe, in spite of the fact that I love tea and scones in comparison to coffee. Yep, that is how charming Jack was, quite adorable really. I don't think I've ever used that word to describe a grown man, at least not in real life. He was kind of intense, and 'out there' with his feelings, it was scary but also refreshing. A good mix.
As always Rich wrote this book well. There was plenty of action, flying fists, racing hearts and still, there were those gooey, mushy but special moments. All in all, a wonderful book. I especially liked the dialogue between Susie and Jack, they complemented one another really well.
This was just the kind of book to get me back into the spirit of reading, I had taken a pretty long break and it was good to get back into the swing of things. Summer just flew right by, and now it's back to a hectic schedule. I appreciated the break this book offered.
For anyone who loved those ABC Hallmark films, I definitely would say this book is worth your time. I can see it translating onto the screen pretty well. That's something you can't say of every novel!

This book was cutesy. But I felt it lacked a lot of depth. A lot. The potential was there, but the follow through was pretty non-existent. I was pretty disappointed with the romance portion. It was pretty flat and one dimensional in that area. And it kinda went downhill from there.
It was too slow and was missing chemistry. In a romance, that will kill a book for me in a heartbeat. I didn’t get why they were attracted to each other other than the fact that they were in close proximity to one another and they both had businesses of their own. Other than that, I didn’t see them as a feasible couple.
Honestly, I felt the secondary characters had more depth and emotion than the main ones. And I felt the climax was…to put it simply, lame. I just didn’t get it.

It read like a predictable, cheesy, hallmark movie. Sometimes that's good enough. It's not an amazing book but it's not terrible. It takes place in Mountain View, CA. That was fun since I'm very familiar with that town, and oddly enough, the audiobook was recorded in Dryden, NY, which is where I lived for 2 years. (I almost want to give it an extra star for those weird coincidences, but I won't.)

I have been sick so I have had a hard time reading like I usually do but although this was a cute plot with sweet sympathetic characters the whole thing was just not enough to suck me in!

3.5 Stars for COFFEE, TEA, OR ME - a RomCom by Rich Amooi, a recommended Pick-Me-Up novel. Perfect when in the mood for a bit of Silliness.

Susie McKenna/FMC opens a new tea and scone shop right next door to Jack Robbins’/MMC popular specialty coffee shop and neither can quite decide if her new business will enrich the area and their own lives or cause personal or financial harm. COFFEE, TEA, OR ME is a light-hearted RomCom that had me laughing out loud a few times, smiling, and also saying, “Eeeuw!” (You’ll know when you get there). The humor sometimes hits just the right spot and other times (I figure) it must be clicking with someone else - which is fine. Rich Amooi’s novels don’t take themselves too seriously but rather lean toward the “go to” book after a long week, a hard day, or following a darker, more intense read. Amooi’s novels serve as Pick-Me-Up reminders that while life might sometimes be difficult, Joy can be found if (we are patient and) truly look.
COFFEE, TEA, OR ME was my 7th Rich Amooi novel. I have 7 others in my tbr pile to read as the mood fits. A big fan of Amooi's writing, I picked Coffee,Tea or Me to read whilst on holiday last week. I found it easy to get into, and enjoyed getting to know the two main characters, Jack Robbins and Susie McKenna.
The story is about the opening of a new tea shop next to an established coffee shop. Jack owns the coffee shop and is intrigued by the new business, and then becomes slightly concerned by the competition. Susie tells him that they are catering for two different markets; him for coffee drinkers and her for tea lovers. But then there's her scones, which are the main attraction and drawing his trade away.
After an inauspicious beginning, Jack and Susie have to work together on their hometown festival, and inevitably love blossoms.
I liked Jack's dog, Chimichanga, who does not like women around Jack, but on meeting Susie, behaves quite differently, allowing Susie to pet her. I also liked Harvey, Jack's regular customer. I found his antics entertaining, but also understood that he was lonely following the death of his wife, and felt a little lost in his retirement years.
Susie's brother, Kenneth, starts out looking like a corner-cutting bodger, and I was fully expecting his handiwork in "Susie's Tea & Scones" to start a fire. Kenneth and Jack clash from the outset, and size-up to each other, but when Kenneth gets injured, Jack goes to help him, also getting injured in the process. Their feud is ended, and their new-found friendship sees them helping Susie to save her business.
Coffee, Tea or Me is another well-written, believable, nicely paced romance from Amooi, and was perfect as a holiday read.

When I wanted to read a pure escapism, rom-com story that I knew would leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling and a smirk on my face, the author that sprang to mind was Rich Amooi. I have read a couple of his books and have thoroughly enjoyed them.
Coffee, Tea or Me is certainly a tale that has all the right elements that make up a light-hearted, fun and quick read. The opening of a Tea shop next door to a Coffee shop definitely sets the proverbial cat among the pigeons. Coffee shop owner Jack is a little put out. Susie the new owner of a the tea shop is looking for a fresh start.
A the story pans out there are little games and tactics at play as the rivals make the most of their businesses. To be fair though it is mainly Jack who is the instigator. There is however something else at work, that is the attraction that flows between the two owners.
Being a small community, people need to work together especially when the yearly festival is due. Can the two work things out or will things go pear shaped?
Rich does such a great job with his stories. This book was great for disappearing into for a couple of hours. It was a light read that made me smirk, especially the antics of Harvey, he is hilarious and such a dear. A new day and another new Rich Amooi book and another one I devoured and another one with a predominantly male point of view!
I am loving all the romance books at the moment, I mean I will go back to my darker side soon, but I am loving the HEA and the drama! With this book, one sentence caught me and I was waiting for nearly 80% for the drama to unfold. I just knew what was going to happen, I foretold it but I knew the hero would save the day….even if it was his fault!
This time our main characters are Jack who owns a coffee shop and Susie who has just moved to the area and opened a tea shop with scones! Will these two be mortal enemies or will love win out?!
I am really loving how these early books are from the male point of view and how we see the insecurities they have! I always love the love at first sight scenario and it’s no different here despite being “competitors.” Plus it wouldn’t be a rom-com without your stereotypical protective “hard” guy.
Coffee, Tea or Me is a very cute read. The banter, the first kisses and dates will make you smile and your heart warm, despite knowing something can’t be this good to be true! Plus I want to go to Santa Monica and the pier! I must admit though I am on team Tea! Coffee makes me too hypo and I don’t need anything more!
All of Amooi’s books would be amazing to see on the big screen, a Netflix or Hallmark film. They are perfect for this, you have two endearing people who you champion from the start – think Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks!
Another book I’ve ticked off my list and I am now running out of books! I can’t wait to see what Mr Amooi has in store for me next!

I just knew what was going to happen, I foretold it but I knew the hero would save the day….even if it was his fault!
This time our main characters are Jack who owns a coffee shop and Susie who has just moved to the area and opened a tea shop with scones! Will these two be mortal enemies or will love win out?!
I am really loving how these early books are from the male point of view and how we see the insecurities they have! I always love the love at first sight scenario and it’s no different here despite being “competitors.” Plus it wouldn’t be a rom-com without your stereotypical protective “hard” guy.
Coffee, Tea or Me is a very cute read. The banter, the first kisses and dates will make you smile and your heart warm, despite knowing something can’t be this good to be true! Plus I want to go to Santa Monica and the pier! I must admit though I am on team Tea! Coffee makes me too hypo and I don’t need anything more!
All of Amooi’s books would be amazing to see on the big screen, a Netflix or Hallmark film. They are perfect for this, you have two endearing people who you champion from the start – think Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks!
Another book I’ve ticked off my list and I am now running out of books! I can’t wait to see what Mr Amooi has in store for me next!

This book is a cute romantic comedy told from the perspectives of the two main characters, Jack and Susie. Jack owns a well-off coffee shop that will possibly become a set of chain stores if his sales remain steady. Then, Susie opens a business next door that makes Jack feel threatened, and they each try new marketing tips to attract business. Of course, there’s some mishaps, misunderstandings, and love connections.
This book was a quick, easy read. There weren’t any deep themes or hidden meaning to try to decipher. It got right to the point, even though there could have been more description and extra plot lines to explore if the author had wanted to.
The plot is a bit predictable, and the characters don’t have much depth. Susie’s brother, Kenneth, is the most troublesome character because he jumps straight to violence before he has a mature conversation about things, and he is very overprotective of his sister.
This story isn’t brilliantly written, but it is a cute, easy read that would be good for fans of Hallmark movies or for someone looking for a palate cleanser after a difficult read.

Jack has a successful coffee business in California – until Susie moves in next door with her new “Tea & Scones” shop. They don’t make a good first impression on each other, and from the start, there is competition between the two. From an over protective brother on Susie’s side to an ambitious manager on Jack’s side, things don’t always go quite to plan … but of course Jack starts to fall for Susie & that changes everything!
The story line works, the characters are believable and it was funny. Yes there was a bit of soppiness & it was predictable/cheesy in places but you expect that from a romance novel! It’s written by a male author & I feel this actually benefits the book, giving quite a different viewpoint. I liked that it wasn’t the classic “knight in shining armour sweeps in to save the feeble female” story – Susie is a strong, hardworking, ambitious character in her own right & the supporting cast of males are caring and capable.
I liked that it was a “clean” read – and ultimately it was everything you expect from a book like this & perfect for a light, quick, summery read.

Jack had the most successful coffee shop in Northern California...until Susie's tea shop moved next door. Tea and coffee were two different beasts, so they couldn't possibly compete...could they?
Susie's opening day turned Jack's place into a ghost town. That was just unacceptable to him. So what if she was attractive and had the best scones he'd ever tasted. He couldn't very well allow her to ruin his business as well as his opportunity to franchise. The first thing he does is report her electrical violation to the city. Report it by mail? Who mails anything nowadays? A promotion for coffee-flavored tea? Oh, she was playing hard-ball alright.
The whole thing turns into a giant, humorous war between the two; however, the chemistry between them is clearly noticed. The two were light-hearted, sensitive, and sincere―a match made in heaven.
Story was funny and witty. Another good one from the King of Romantic Comedy.

THIS WAS LIKE EATING A TWINKIE - I LOVE TWINKIES - BUT NOT ENOUGH SUBSTANCE FOR ME

Susie is opening a tea and scone shop right next door to Jack. She and her brother, Kenneth, are excited partners who hope to be a big success.
Susie is cute, Jack is interested. Kenneth belittles Jack every chance he gets. Susie and Jack spar when they are together.
OK, it is just me, I am certain.
But, this was too much fluff for me. I could not see a great deal of plot.

Pretty good
This wasn’t a bad little book if you’re looking for something extremely light with little plot .
The beginning was cute but it got boring around the middle. It was full of cliches and a lot of “telling” not “showing”. The characters had little depth and as others mentioned, they acted like teenagers! That being said, it was an ok read. While not as good as some other chick lit books I’ve read, The idea of the rivalry between the coffee shop and the tea shop owners was a good one. I just thought it needed to be fleshed or more, wither better character development, more realistic interactions between two adults who are interested in each other, etc.
