Madison Vickers is the prime suspect in the deaths of two men, one of whom is her abusive husband.

When the local sheriff brings in Detectives Daniels and Remalla to help with the case, Madison has to trust their investigation will go beyond her as the only suspect.

As troubled friends, a sad wife, and financially strapped husbands become potential murderers, Madison relies on her handsome attorney to see her through, but she must also confront the stranger who watches her from the woods and in her dreams, sending her strange messages.

Her survival depends on the two detectives, and a quirky woman with chunky jewelry who gives her long needed advice, and suggests the rabbit hole may be deeper than Madison realizes.

Will Madison crumble under the pressure and end up in prison for crimes she didn’t commit? Or will she find the strength to confront her demons, discover the truth, and bring a killer to justice?

Second Slice is book two in the Detectives Daniels and Remalla series. It can be read on its own but is best read after the first book in the series, First Cut.

Award-winning author, J.T. Bishop, is a writer of mystery thrillers with a supernatural edge. Growing up, she read books by Stephen King, Mary Higgins Clark, and Dean Koontz, devoured every episode of The X-files, and watched plenty of TV shows with great partnerships that left her wanting more. She loves tangled relationships, unexpected twists and turns, heart-stopping love stories and the complications that come with all the above. Throw in a little supernatural fun and she’s hooked. Her evil plan is to hook you, too.

She’s the author of The Red-Line Trilogy and its sister series, The Fletcher Family Saga, which features touches of urban fantasy, light sci-fi, and paranormal romance. She’s also happily writing mystery thrillers featuring two charismatic detectives who may occasionally encounter a supernatural villain or two, and a crossover series which follows the exploits of a gifted, but troubled, paranormal P.I. and his spunky sister.

All the above keeps her busy, but in her spare time, she loves a good movie, tasty food, an unfortunate sugar addiction, and traveling.

No comparison.

Great Detective novel with a splash of the intriguing world of the paranormal. What a great combination. Plus the added bonus of the writing skills of J. T. Bishop. The way the dialogue flows is easy to read, easy to follow allowing the reader to immerse themselves in the story. The main characters delightful banter is beyond words. Waiting with anticipation for book 3 so I can once again enjoy a day without the outside world completely immersed in the words.

second Slice

Another great book that just captures me. Recalls and Daniels are carried over and memorable characters . I was also intrigued with Sonia and Peter. Maddie of course was a victim that went through a lot. I am also interested in where Rudger fits. On to the next one! Love this series

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
I hope there are more of these to come!!
Recommend reading.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Did not realise it was going to be linked to the case of the previous one! That made this book a little more exciting.

Considering this series focuses around Detectives Daniel and Remalla they don’t turn up for a few chapters, as there is a lot of world building and character building before hand to lead up to the murder.

We follow a group of couples, all well off, living on a lake, partying and having a good time when one of the husbands is killed- and the wife is the main suspect. Add in the drama of adultery and lies, it actually makes for a good read- yet again I did not work out who the killer was! It came as a bit of a shock because the character was actually likeable.

Unlike the main character- who was really irritating and made all the wrong decisions! I genuinely thought she was gonna go down for the murder of her husband. It would have been her own fault!

The element of supernatural/telekinesis/psychics wasn’t as much of a problem for me than this one but it did seem a bit odd. I know it’s going to lead to something in the other books but I don’t know, for a crime thriller it just seems weird. I can deal with it though as it adds to the connection between each book.

I’m interested to see where the rest of the series is going to go.

I really like Rem and Daniel’s relationship and I hope it continues to get stronger.

This is the 2nd in the series about Detectives and partners, Daniels and Rem! They are on another case and it might be strangely tied to the first one they just solved, the serial killer, The Makeup Artist.

When the local sheriff of a neighboring county, calls upon his friend, Chief Lozano for help, Daniels and Rem are sent there. Lozano has a cabin in this community where Daniels and Rem can stay while investigating the murder!

What is happening in this small community. A group of neighbors in this community have become fast friends, but what secrets they hide. Now, one of the husbands has been found dead, and his wife has been arrested. But, all the other couples, are also suspects. What was going on with this group of friends and can any really trust each other??

Don't miss it!!

OK. I am officially hooked on J.T. Bishop's series, "A Family of Foe Thriller with Detectives Daniels and Ramalla."

I was introduced to them in Book 1, "First Cut." Book 2, "Second Slice," became a sleepless night, as could not put it down. These books are just fun, filled with banter between the two detectives who, like all partners, are friends. There's romance, danger, secrets, murder, twists, turns, thrills, and best of all, the paranormal to spice things up.

In "Second Slice," the two detectives are called in to investigate a murder, the second in the small community. The first was a surprise; the second hinted at a possible serial killer. Everyone's a suspect, including the dead man's wife. But once again, the paranormal raises its head. Who is the man they've dubbed "Rudger"? How can he do what he can do?

I've got book 3 on the nightstand and book 4 ordered.

Second Slice is the Second Book in the 'Family or Foe' series and provides thriller and mystery readers with a psychic adventure that revolves around a possible Black. The characters have depth and their dialogue perfectly showcases their personalities. The narrative is descriptive and sets a very dark, chilling atmosphere. JT Bishop is a gifted author and she has created a novel you won’t want to miss. The last few chapters were explosive and the ending gave the reader yet another plot twist. I am happy that I can jump right into the next. I received the novel from StoryOrigin. This is my honest review

No spoilers of any kind included.
What can I say about Second Slice without giving away spoilers?
Well I can say this, and that is I absolutely enjoyed reading this book.
J. T. Bishop is quickly becoming a favorite author because her stories really pull me in and I completely lose track of time while I’m in the world that she has created and I absolutely love that.
So yep I do recommend Second Slice.

Second Slice: A Murder Mystery Suspense Thriller (The Family or Foe Saga with Detectives Daniels and Remalla Book 2), my ninth read from author J.T. Bishop. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book back on November 16, 2022 & am just getting around to reading it and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author and in particular Of Body and Bone: A Murder Mystery Suspense Thriller (Detectives Daniels and Remalla Book 3), the next book on my TBR list. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

The cabins around the lake, the couples that party together, have secrets.
Soon they become deadly as two husbands are.murdered.
Madison is the one they are trying to pin the murders on.
Plot was good, then unbelievable to fall in bed with her lawyer right away.
He is a topnotch, high paid lawyer, he wouldn’t risk everything even though it was a school crush years before. The two I sing Detectives added to the story.

Great Read

This is book 2 in this series and as it does refer back to occurrences from the first book, I recommend reading it first. This is a tightly woven crime drama with the paranormal interwoven. I very much enjoyed the read & the actual murderer came at me from left field. Highly recommend if you enjoy this genre.

Read this book in one day

I enjoy the main characters Daniels and Remala. This book drew me in on the first page, I couldn't put it down for very long and read the whole book in one day.
There are twists and turns that I did not see coming . I was not expecting how the case ended. Worth the read! There's enough going on to keep you interested and leaves you wanting more.

The only good part of this book was Daniels and Rem. The main character Madison was EXTREMELY unlikely as were the rest of the characters. To convoluted and very poor editing. The only reason why I an continuing the series is because of the over arching story contained in all the books.

Wow. Suspense to the end. Madison is accused of murder. Did she do it. Who knows. You won’t be able to put the book down until you find out who did it.

This book is ideally placed as a slow burner. It starts putting all the pieces and players in place and then ramps up the intensity until not only are you well into it but by now your fully engrossed and cannot put it down. Cannot wait for the next one. Highly recommended.
