From USA Today bestselling author W Winters comes an emotionally gripping, standalone, romantic suspense with an edge of darkness.
I never thought of life like the petals of a rose before. But they’re so alike. Delicate and easily crushed.
Broken… just like he made me. He could pluck away and there was nothing I could do except be destroyed and accept my fate.
That’s what he does, he ruins what he touches. Ruthless and cold hearted. They gave me to him. To break. To do as he’d like. All because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
He grew addicted to the feel of plucking away at me. At leaving me bare and taking control over every piece of me. And if I’m honest with myself… I grew to love it too.
Delicate is the first look at Broken, the Best Selling Dark Romance by W Winters.
Willow started writing after having her little girl, Evie, December 2015. All during her pregnancy with Evie she continued to read and she only wanted to read romance. She was reading a book a day — sometimes two.
In January 2016 Willow was staying up late with Evie and just thinking of all these stories. They came to her constantly so she finally sat down and just started writing. She always wanted to do it so she figured, why not? Today Willow cannot be happier for making that decision!

Loving this story it’s the Prequel to Broken and we get a better understanding of just how Olivia met Kade. It’s a quick read but still a great read it allows us a better insight and details we might be missing from just starting the series with Broken. The author is fabulous as always.
5 DELICATE STARS...Oh my goodness, Willow does it again!! I could not put this book down, there was so much going on. Willow Winters is one of my favorite authors, she know how to pull the readers into the story. You will not want to miss this book, it is worth the money.
This was a quick, short read. And a prequel I guess you could say to broken. You learn a bit more about Olivia & Kade. Great series. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I need so much more of this. He’s on trial and she’s meant to speak against him. But she doesn’t want him going down for what they’re accusing him of — it’s more like he saved her from the crappy situation she was in. Will she be able to do what they want her to? Or will she fall back into his arms?
Holy s@$#!! This book was hot, hot, hot, kept me engaged the entire time. The first & definitely not the last Willow Winters book I will be reading. Dark romance yet keeps you coming back for more. You need this book.
I loved this dark romance! The characters are amazing, you can’t help but fall in love with Kade. I was hooked from beginning to end, in fact I didn’t want it to end. The story has lots of drama and I was tearing up at the end. Great Read
Not even really sure how to rate this. This is considered a novella, but literally seemed like 3 chapters from a book. It's more like a prequel to the next book. Why even write this as a separate book? Also, abusive love books realy aren't my jam. And apparently novellas aren't either! 🤣
Delicate is a free little taster that Willow has offered to her readers. It's like a taste of some forbidden fruit, that once you have a taken a bite, you want to more!
Having read Broken which I absolutely loved, it's such a sensual and seductive read, you will so want to meet Master K....Delicate is the perfect way to meet him.
WOW!!! Willow Winters has reached a new dimension with this book. It's definalety not for the sweet and innocent reader, but for those that want an emotionally charged, shockingly dark, twisted love story this is it. Broken not only grabs you it kidnaps your imagination and has you reaching for the next page. It's dark, emotional, suspenseful, gritty, and some might say derogatory toward the type of woman that falls in love with dominate man who breaks her. Personally this book is so much more! Yes, it's can be all of the above, but it's also a powerful story that shows a different side or type of love.
Their story begins when Olivia witnesses Kade killing a man, who we find out was his best friend and undercover partner. Kade and James are undercover to bring down a sex trafficking ring, they established a code for the other to kill them if he was discovered. James used the code word and Kade followed through with their agreement. Unfortunately Olivia witnessed the shooting and is kidnapped. In order to keep Olivia safe Kade must break her and turn her into his slave. Unable to tell Olivia the truth Kade struggles with what he's doing to her and forces her to go beyond her breaking point. Kade and Olivia both have needs that neither are fully aware of. Olivia needs Kade and his dominate nature, while Kade has a dark side that needs to unleashed and having Olivia's complete submission allows his dark side to be soothed.
This story is one of pure dominance and control, has some of the hottest sex I've ever read and as an avid reader that's saying something! Willow Winters never ceases to amaze me with her work, but this book took that amazement to another level and has set the bar higher than ever for this reader and fan.
Willow Winters presents readers with a brief yet enthralling glimpse into the world of "Delicate." Independently published on February 6, 2020, this 50-page novella offers a narrative that is both well-written and addicting, leaving readers yearning for more.
The story revolves around the delicate nature of life, drawing a poignant parallel between the petals of a rose and the fragility of the protagonist. The character's vulnerability is exploited by a ruthless and cold-hearted individual, leading to a destructive yet strangely compelling relationship.
Despite its brevity, Winters succeeds in crafting a narrative that captivates readers, drawing them into the intricate web of power dynamics and twisted desires. The addictive quality of the novella is a testament to the author's skill in creating tension and intrigue within a limited space.
However, the main drawback lies in the lack of sufficient storyline and background information. The narrative feels like a tantalising glimpse into a larger series or story, leaving readers with a sense of wanting more context and depth to the characters and their relationships. While the addictive nature of the novella is commendable, a more substantial storyline would have elevated the reading experience.
In conclusion, "Delicate" by Willow Winters is a well-written and addictive novella that leaves readers craving more. While its brevity contributes to its allure, the limited storyline and background information may leave some readers wanting a more comprehensive exploration of the characters and their world. Despite this, Winters showcases her ability to weave a captivating tale, setting the stage for potential future developments in the larger narrative.
I can’t say this often enough recently – how in the world have I missed reading all of this author’s books??!! Well, I’m trying to rectify that now one book at a time … DELICATE is the mini-prequel “first look” at the captive/captor dark romance Broken, which I own but have yet to read. There’s a bit of a Prologue “flashback” from present to past as introduction to the relationship dynamic between Olivia and her captor Kade. It’s a dark prequel about a college coed who has been “taken” after being in the wrong place, at the wrong time and finds her life in the hands of a very dangerous man. Brief, but intense, with a gnawing edge of nervous energy to it. I think I hardly breathed throughout what would have been a terrifying life-or-death scenario for any young woman, and that chilling cliffy left me grasping for more with a sickening feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach. I was fascinated by enigmatic Kade – so observant, urbane, and beautiful on the outside, but a dangerous cobra waiting to strike on the inside. And a hint of electric chemistry flashed between them for just an instant. In a scant few pages, Willow has set the compelling stage of a woman’s accidental captivity into the dark unknown. I need to read Broken stat.
“I learned to love what he did. I learned to be perfect for him.”
Olivia Bell is a young college student that's been expelled from college for underage drinking. Olivia is looking for a way to support herself and pay rent now that she doesn't have a job any more. Olivia is overlooked for the jobs she's applying for. Then Olivia witnesses something that she shouldn't only to have her world turned upside down where nothing is ever the same again. Kade Maddox isn't even his real name yet he's so far undercover that defies logic. The rules are do nothing illegal ever no matter what but sometimes the rules aren't any good at all. Now Kade has to figure out a way to make things right for Olivia even if she never understands. Kade promises Olivia freedom but can he really grant it? Your answers await you in Delicate.
I love Ms. Winters writing style! The story and characters are compelling, complex, real, gritty, raw, honest, and flawed in their own way. I'm definitely looking forward to my next adventure with this author.
Olivia is having the worst luck of her life she been kicked out of university for drinking, her ex boyfriend Daniel dumped her for someone else and her friend Cheryl has been cut off by her family and she is a bad influence on Olivia and Olivia parents are giving her the silent treatment and she has no job and then to top it all off she wasn’t someone get shot and they kidnapped her so she doesn’t been and Im not a fan of Rick who works with Kade and Kade takes Olivia off of ricks hand and Olivia has to testify against Kade in court and this was a quick short read and I just love reading willow winters and that most of her books are short and different genres and love that a lot has happened with Olivia in only a short read
If you're looking for an easy to follow, hot, steamy, sexy, smooth flowing read that captures your attention from the start. Congratulations my friends you've found it. The characters and scenes are realistic and believable. Twists and turns and unpredictable surprises that kept my eyes on the pages and on the edge of my seat. I followed the characters fascinated as their personalities transformed and blended. Vivid detailed descriptions were so life like and on point. The storyline was solided and well defined. Cold showers may be in order when your finished. Willow Winters did a remarkable job bringing this story together beautifully.
This is a short read and preview to the full length novel, Broken.
I read Broken some time ago. Broken is a complex, dark story with no insta love or insta lust. There are no easy or quick "I love yous" spoken. It is hard BDSM with a Master/slave relationship. And, as the title of the novel implies, Kade needs to break Olivia's resistance. And she fiercely resists. So if that's not your thing, you might have difficulty with some parts of this story. And while the book is a dark read and a little twisted in parts, the romance is there. If you enjoy intense, frustrating, erotic, and gritty stories, then you won't want to miss Broken.
1.5 stars Damn I really like Winters works but this wasn't it. I read a lot of her novellas and prequels so had a level of expectation that wasn't met sadly.
I will always love her writing and characters (for the most part) so thats why the rating isn't lower.
This entire story could be shorted to a prequel chapter of the actual book or a flashback chapter.
I'm in luck that I got this for free but id be livid if I paid. Theres basically not plot until the like 8 pages. Main character just damn cries for half the book then there's like 2 good scenes and end. Good and SHORT scenes.
Waste of the paper its printed on. I will however read the next book. Its just an obvious money grab.
First, this is definitely a more dark and twisted romance, and it may not be for everyone. I happen to love this author. She takes you on an emotional roller coaster with her characters, and this book is no different. Even though it’s a dark romance, there is still an incredible love story between Kade and Olivia to fall in love with. It’s gripping and a page-turner and will keep you guessing. This is a book where you’ll find yourself rooting for the bad guy in the end!! I would read it again and recommend it as well.
