Finding the perfect dress can be hell... especially when a stranger tries to gun you down in broad daylight.

Void agent and magical baker extraordinaire, Willow Rhoswen has been anticipating her first date with Talisen Kavanagh since she was sixteen. After eight years of waiting, there are only two things that can stand in her way—an assassination attempt and a new game-changing drug.

Talisen's invented a new elixir that creates superhumans, ones that can rival vampire strength, and everyone wants it. Including the vampires. With Willow's life on the line, he makes a deal with the devil, while she's forced to accept the always-strings-attached protection from the most notorious vampire organization in New Orleans.

But when Talisen and his drug go missing, Willow will stop at nothing to find him, even if it means working with her vampire-ex, David. With souped-up humans, dangerous vampires, and more questions than answers, Willow has less than twenty-four hours to find him before everything changes forever.

Willow Rhosen, fairy, finds herself in a precarious situation. Her office has been destroyed and she has been personally attacked...she has no idea who she can trust. Is the VOID, the very agency she works for coming after her again? Is it the vampire who killed her twin and sent her sister in law into hiding?

Feeling betrayed by David, her now day walking vampire ex-boyfriend, Willow relies on her closest and best friend Talisen. But then she discovers Talisen has been keeping secrets from her too.

Deanna Chase writes a wonderfully twisting and turning plot that had me glued to the pages. I completely enjoyed being pulled along into Willow's adventure. I did find the ending slightly difficult to justify and am anxious to see where Chase takes Crescent City Fae next. Great side characters, a fantastic morphing puppy and unexpected surprises where perfectly balanced with the action and sexual tension. Irresistible Magic is a fantastic fantasy with the pulse of paranormal.

I received this copy of Irresistible Magic from Deanna Chase - Bayou Moon Publishing in exchange for a honest review.

Finally! The continuance of Willows tale! She and Talisen can finally begin to figure out what they mean to one another after all the heart ache and loss and drama of their lives being fae and what happens??!! Of course Willow's in danger again, but the ever romantic hero in Deanna's story is willing to do whatever it takes including make a deal with the Devil. The clock quickly ticks away as Willow searches for Talisen, after he and his newly created superhuman elixir disappears....
As always keeps you on the edge of your seat and practically begging for the next book!
You can NEVER go wrong with Deanna Chase! She IS a USA Today Best Seller after all!

Irresistible Magic. Crescent City Fae: Book 2. Deanna Chase

Review from Jeannie Zelos Book Reviews.
I loved the first book, so hoped the second would live up to it – often they don't :( and wasn't disappointed. Its another action packed adventure for faery Willow and her friends. She's finally got a date with Talisen....she's had a crush on him since she was a teenager, and it seems the attraction was mutual though they both kept it hidden well, and just stayed as best friends. The date though...it turns out not to be at all like they hoped, with the danger that's been pursuing Willow getting stronger, and the thread of assassination becoming more and more real.
I love Willow – she was heartbroken when David became a vampire, and when Tal stepped up I thought she'd get a chance of happiness finally. Of course fiction land means that won't happen yet! I was so hoping for at least a bit of time together for her and Tal. He's great for her and I really like him- though he's a past as a real ladies man he's promised Willow that she's it for him and that's over. He hates the vampires intervention though he can see Willow needs the protection. The Void aren't willing to help though, playing down the threat – and after the last disaster with them he's not sure if they're trustworthy anyway. The vampires help always has strings though – and they want in on his latest invention, the drug that creates superhumans, strong people that can stand against vampires.
The vampires: David and his Father, head of the New Orleans vamps, they're in on everything it seems. They seem to know what happens almost before it does. Willow has got past her hatred of David, its a fine line between love and hate and the way he dumped her once he became vamp still hurts bit, but not as bad as it did at the time. We learn much more about his reasons for Changing but she wants to move on with Tal. David makes it clear he still wants her, and will try to get her back. Tal is jealous of David especially after Willow risked her life to save him last time, and there's a real feeling of tension between the two. Then Tal goes missing...and Willow is distraught, and desperate to rescue him.
Its an action packed book, with everything taking place over just a few short days. My emotions were torn, poor Willow just doesn’t get a break. All she wants to do is help people with her magical cup cakes, and be happy with Tal and yet she's torn into a world of danger through her blood. It seems there's no way out for her, no way to live a normal life but she's trying her best and Tal seemed like a happy break for her at last. I got really cross with his actions towards the end though....and it didn't seem like him somehow :(
I loved the story once again, Deanna creates action and solutions that work. I've said before how I hate books where the hero/heroine gets some new Superpower just at the moment when it looks like there's no way out – that's a cheat to me and a trap Deanna never uses. When Willow and the gang are in trouble it's talents they already have that get used, and that makes everything feel so much more real, even though its fantasy. Its what makes Deanna's writing so good – the way everything is thought out and plots work together. No quick fix solutions, but extensions of ideas already brought forward.
I can't leave without mentioning the wonderful Link, her shih-tzu/wolf protector. He's a great character too! Steps in just at the right time, and the image of a tiny dog becoming a huge wolf always gets me thinking of what a shock that must be.
Priced at £2.56, $4.10 for 262 pages its good value and one for the keepers files.
Stars: five, loved it.

I really liked the first book in this series and was looking forward to this book, but I was very disappointed. Willow did not grow as a character at all. She still didn’t trust her friends, and constantly accused them of “keeping secrets” when most of the time they just weren’t telling her things that were none of her business. I also found myself annoyed with her insistence to include herself in every dangerous mission. She said herself multiple times that she has no combat training. Nor does she have a active form of magic that can be used in self-defense. Not to mention a severe allergy to Vampire’s and fragile wings. She wasn’t helpful she was in the way, and making it more dangerous for other’s. Throughout so much of the book I found her selfish and whinny.

But once again I loved the other characters. Phoebe her best friend is a hoot. Her dog/werewolf is adorable and scary. David is much more self sacrificing and loving than I thought. Eadric is complex and I look forward to more of his story and growth. I was very disappointed with Tal and where his story line went, he suddenly did a 180 and his behavior just seemed like an excuse for Willow to do certain things and remain a victim. I will read the next book in this series, I love this world. I just wish I liked the heroine more.

It is very unusual for me to dislike a book. I am not happy about having to put one star but I have to do it.

It's weird to see the rating of the serie rising with each book while I felt completely the opposite.

First, let me say I still like the story and the plot. and that is why it is getting one star. Otherwise I would just give none.

I disliked the way Willow's emotions were present all the time. All. The. Time.
And its not like I don't understand, emotions are important. However, these feelings concerning the love triangle were there constantly. Even at the most terrible moments, when her life or the life of people she loves were at risk.
I think it would have been a good book without all the drama from the love triangle.
Willow's outbursts, often unjustified, and her inability to make a decision drove me insane.
There was a huge lack of communication between all characters.

And apart from the love triangle there were so many incoherences... For example in the first book Link is injured and he turns into a wolf to heal but in the second book it doesn't matter if he turns because healing by shifting is just a myth. ???

Things seem to happen for no reason at all without an explanation and it left me frustrated.
So no, I didn't like this book and I wouldn't recommend it.

Good Story

There is a really good story here. it is complex and the characters are interesting. But, yes there is a but. It is dark. The heroine does not seem to trust anybody but her dog, and that is sad. It seems on the few occasions that she does trust, they let her down. On the other hand she doesn't trust some people, like Allcot, but I have yet to read anything that leads me to believe he is untrustworthy. It is kind of a downer. Add in that there is not a true resolution to the storyline and I am not sure why I continue to read the series. But, yes, another but, this is a three book series and I am hoping everything comes together in the next book. I have read this author's other series and I love them. So third book here I come.

I love her books. Deanna Chase's writing style is so comfortable to me, its like putting on that favorite cozy sweatshirt. Her stories flow effortlessly and its difficult to put them down. I rank her writing style and stories up there with Jeaniene Frost, Richelle Mead , and Chloe Neill..some of my favorite authors. Hoping there are many more Crescent City Fae stories forthcoming.

Almost finished, but dnf'd. There was so much potential in the first one, but was missing some major world building I was hoping would get fleshed out in this one. Also, the main protagonist constantly makes cringey decisions that land her in the middle of the worst love triangle I've seen since Twilight. I only had about 2 hours left, but after reading the 3rd is more of the same, I just can't.

I will concede it was better than book 1; however there are still inconsistencies, emotional turmoil, etc. that draw from the development of the plot. There was a time when I swear her dog shapeshifts and heals himself of some of his wounds in a previous book; when it’s impossible in this one. He’s stuck in his dog form for weeks trying to heal naturally when he should be healing faster than the normal dog. When David tries to bring willow to her Oak tree to heal, she mentions he couldn’t possibly get her up to her bed so high up that she has to fly, yet later in the book, there’s a button to expand the stairs. These little details just distract from the potential of the story.

Willow has developed as a character; but I wish there had been more development. She has the potential to be a strong, inspiring woman who will fight for those who cannot, but again, there’s nothing but whining that she hasn’t taken any self-defense classes as the action continues to ramp up. Yet she continues to insist on being included in every dangerous situation that comes up. She also becomes very selfish which causes distance between the main character and the readers. The yo-yo-ing between the two romantic interests for Willow is dizzying. I thought for sure by the end of Book 1 that she had chosen her love and that question had been resolved. But it quickly crumbles. I hate giving up on series, and I’m already 2/3 through the series with only one book to go, but I just don’t know if I can bring myself to finish it. The main character doesn’t have many redeeming qualities by now, and though I’m curious about how it ends, I fear I’ll just be disappointed. I really love Deanna Chase’s other series’ but this one is obviously one of her first works, and I’d rather focus on her better quality writing of her recent works.

I'm still really intrigued with the world and most of the characters are entertaining. However other than Willow's concoctions for her shop, she's pretty useless. She basically refuses to take self defense classes even though she helps hunt vampires. Every other character has also apparently realized she's useless and charges into situations half cocked because they all lie to her about various things. This entire book is filled with her complaining about every person lying to her (which I understand, I'd be annoyed too).

There's definitely a love triangle still going on between her, Tal, and David and I honestly can't decide who I'm rooting for.

My biggest complaint is that the author spends a lot of time recapping. I get her doing that in the very beginning of the book, but even halfway through, she's still doing it. For example, David walked into a room and since he's been there the entire book, she could have just called him David. Instead it had to be reminded that it was Willow's vampire ex boyfriend David. We got that by now.

This book was "okay."
The "love triangle" is still messy and convoluted.
Willow has 2 guys that are in love with her and other than sexual feelings, she doesn't think about much else. Willow still loves David but he has changed a lot and truthfully, I don't think she knows "the real him" in the first place. Talisen is the boy from her childhood, her best friend, yet doesn't understand him at all.

Willow constantly gets angry and argues over stupid things. Even her friends tell her that she is useless when it comes to missions, but they still bring her along because she will start a fight or go on her own if she is not included. She won't even learn defensive courses because she thinks it's all useless anyway when in reality it would help a lot. Willows character does not evolve.

I would normally end the series here, but I'm stupidly curious about how our useless heroine ends this trilogy.

This rarely happens, but the second book was better than the first one. I enjoyed this read and the character arcs too. It's well written, with lovely descriptions and intriguing world building.

There are some things I took issue with.

Everyone treating Willow like a helpless damsel despite the fact that she isn't helpless. Everyone dictating what Willow is allowed to do or say and everyone lying to her. It just feels like she's surrounded by folks who do nothing but deceive and betray her and yet she calls them her friends.

Transitions are also a bit jarring in some instances.

On to the third book.

Book 2, of Crescent City Fae starts off with a bang!!
I was so happy that the book picks up right where the first book ended. This was such a rollercoaster ride of emotions for Willow and her two yummy guys. So much happens in this book and I’m eager to read the next installment. I’m very eager to see what route Willow chooses. I just love her dog Link too!!

The main character in this book makes me want to choke her until she's blue. She's kind of a moron that puts herself and everyone around her in danger. Thankfully, her supporting characters are much smarter than she is and save the day. That being said, I thought the plot line was interesting and exciting. I love the supporting characters. I guess I have to admit that having a lead female character that isn't amazing and perfect all the time is kind of refreshing and adds some realism to the story.

I stopped with the 2nd book. Willow was just too annoying and her self-righteous and judgmental attitude really just drained me. For a heroine she's really not making it easy to like her.
I also gave up because of her choice in men (found out the ending of book 3). David would have been the obvious choice since she spends time with him the most (in all 3 books) and the reader gets to know him as well. Tal doesn't feature that much and yet she decides to be with him.
Deana is an amazing writer and I enjoy her stories, it's just this series that didn't work for me at all.

Willow Roswyn is coming to terms with her ex boyfriend living life as a vampire. While having barely escaped a life of testing by the Void’s evil director, Willow just wants to live a normal life of making magic-infused bakery treats. That soon becomes impossible after learning she inherited the ability to change vampires into daywalkers when Bo died. After she changes David to save him, she becomes hunted by a vampire who will stop at nothing to destroy her. Her childhood best friend is ready to take their relationship further. But can it survive the vampires that seem to want to either control her - Audric and the Cryrique, or kill her because she has unusual powers passed down through her ancestry.

Willow’s indecision regarding her feelings for David gets a little trying at times, but overall another excellent installment with plenty of action and wry comedic comments from Phoebe.

Willow just wants to lead a peaceful life, but enemies are constantly attacking her and those she cares about. It takes a toll on her body and her love life. She's still torn between David and Tal, she's tired of people lying to her, and she doesn't know who to trust.
Typo: Kindle page 54 "going anywhere accept Tal's apartment" (except).

This installment was just a tad slow in the middle, but once it got to the heart-tugging stuff I was totally hooked back in. Why is all I have to say????!!! I love me some Tal, so this one got a few tears from me for sure! Starting a new series in the meantime, but I'll finish out the series with the third installment at some point.

This is the second book of the Crescent City Fae series and is just as gripping as the first. Deanna Chase is a great writer and you feel as if you're right there experiencing each moment with the characters. Willow has very strong beliefs on what is right and wrong and stays true to herself. I'm excited to see what book 3 brings!

Great follow up to the first one. Roller coaster of emotions. Fast paced and a sleep thief!! Very good story line, questions were answered, but some with more questions! Willows feelings are all over the place, with the two hot men she has vying for her. And can they bring down Asher between them??

Wow

Willow is completely freaking awesome. Who knew she had it in her. I hate that so much testing had to be done at the end but understand it was completely needed. Oh and poor Link I felt bad about his tail. This series is so awesome and addictive. I really hope the next book is filled with lots more twists and turns.

I tried to start reading this and the page 1 is blank. Page 2 continues where page 1 ended. Truly frustrating! I didn't have a problem with first book. Now looking it seems this continues throughout the book. I need my money back or something!!!
