as usual, it was action-packed but this started to get old. they always said, 'Oh, just our luck, we got the worst monsters,' i mean seriously? so uncreative. and there was nothing remarkable about the fightings too, nothing brilliant, just some sonic booms, some shield, got injured but it was fine, and some sword-fighting... *sigh* they didn't even tell the reason why the haven was being robbed?! come on, if you wanted to write a good story, u must at least came up with some explanations, not just mindless actions.
this was a story before Rowan went missing, before the UP members found them, the first time the Blackwood sisters crossed the real Death Valley. before, it was Uncle Joe who transported the outlaws into Hider's Haven and the sisters begged him to buy an emergency harm in case of, well, urgent situation. ana just got back from work as waitress because she was fired (some creep pinched her butt and she fought back, but the idiot owner disagreed) when they got the signal that Uncle Joe was in trouble. they crossed the valley, as usual fighting some monsters and phantoms and when they reached the Hider's Haven, the ghosts there were in panic because they said the place was being robbed. by demons (but not the why). they faced more dangers and almost died (but never fatally injured) and met some girl ghosts that were willing to help. they swiftly rescued the haven's inhabitant and got rid of the demons and all was well. no one died, except for the demons.

(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I want to change my scoring by 0.50 or more of a star. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)

A short prequel novella that provides a little backstory for Ana, Rowan and Bree. I really enjoyed this and appreciate Linsey Hall both writing it and making it free to her fans. I especially enjoyed discovering Rowan's magic since she hasn't been able to use it ever since she was rescued from her captors. Telekinesis is pretty cool. Their first trip across Death Valley was a nice adventure to introduce them as characters. I enjoyed this very much.

I always find Linsey Hall's books to be intriguing and enjoyable. Every now and then, one is particularly good, but I always know I'm going to enjoy the book. Some stand out more than others, but in general, they are fun quick reads. I prefer her Shadow Guild and later works to these series, but they are still enjoyable.

Great little adventure. Ana did a great job relaying it. Bree and Rowan did they part to succeed. A great backstory for all three.

I love this prequel to Ana, Bree and Rowans series of books it's a great insight into the sisters earlier in their timeline.
I am looking forward to reading more adventures from the Sister's and watching their magic grown and take shape with them.

A slow start but it picks up pace as the story progresses. It's a very unique book. I don't believe I have ever read a story that mimics the authors worldbuilding. The book definitely gets better further into the story and it has a good ending.

The prequel novella to how the triplets get in to the business of running fugitives across Death Valley, gives a little bit more insight into their past and how the trio came to be the bada$$es they are today.
