Tiberius "The Beast" Caulville is the bad boy of the NFL: an arrogant PR nightmare who doesn't care about his public image. But when an off-season fight lands him in hot water, he's forced to hide out in Hidden Creek and clean up his act with the help of the one person who doesn't buy it.
Caleb Brower has lived in the shadow of his manipulative ex-boyfriend for years. One breakout client will give him the freedom he needs, if he can withstand that client's outrageously inappropriate behavior. But Caleb is used to entitled athletes, and can tell there's more to Ty than the mask he wears.
Volunteering at his uncle's dog rescue could save Ty—or bury him under the fears he thought he'd left behind. Caleb can't help being drawn to the broken man beneath the bluster, and soon business gets personal. Can he show the rest of the world the sweetheart Ty really is?
Welcome to Hidden Creek, Texas, where the heart knows what it wants, and where true love lives happily ever after. Every Men of Hidden Creek novel can be read on its own, but keep an eye out for familiar faces around town! This book contains a pair of irresistible rescue dogs, a Beast who's really a softie, and plenty of healing for two lost souls.
Written by Alison Hendricks, Rescue is the third book in the fourth season of the Men of Hidden Creek series. The books in this series can be read as standalones.
Do not go into this one thinking you are getting a sweet and fluffy romance. It is a romance, but Ms. Hendricks tackles a variety of intense issues in Rescue.* As the characters work through some powerful trauma, they find healing in each other’s support, as well as finding benefits by reaching out to those in need.
When Public Relations expert Caleb Brower travels to Hidden Creek to attempt to salvage pro footballer Ty Caulville’s reputation, he doesn’t expect to fall for the brute. What starts as a purely physical attraction between the two eventually evolves into a physical relationship. As the two men bond over shared experiences, as well as opening up about events in their pasts, they form a deeper connection.
Narrated by Nick J. Russo, he does a wonderful job with the wide variety of characters in Rescue. His portrayal of the whiny and arrogant Kevin (Caleb’s manipulative ex-boyfriend) is fantastic. And the level of anger he’s able to convey when performing Ty’s outbursts is absolutely chilling.
*There are off page references to child and spousal abuse, violence, as well as on page descriptions of animal abuse.
an audiobook copy of Rescue Men of Hidden Creek Season 4, Book 3 was provided to me for the purpose of my review
What an impressive story this was, and what a massive captivating content it has. Thoroughly developed story. I was totally committed from the very first line.
Ty and Caleb
Ty is a wild trouble seeker. He has to lay low for a while to improve his name. As an NFL player, he has to show the world he has good sides. And he needs a PR/PA man beside him who can lead him and can take care of social media. This is where Caleb steps in.
Finally free from his ex-lover/boss he got a job, he will work with the infamous linebacker Tiberius Caulville. Ty is ‘banned’ to the dog rescue farm of his uncle. Uncle John accepts him but he has to work. And so must Caleb when he arrives.
Ty withdraws when Caleb wants to talk about the real man behind the exterior Ty wants to holds up the image people now about him. Ty likes the honest and vulnerable Caleb and Caleb likes the real Ty.
Slowly we get to know the grand and painful story behind both Ty and Caleb. What an impressive story to know. I loved both men immensely. When they were together there was a lot of sexual tension but also a committed friendship. The whole content around the rescue farm and the men’s lives was extremely captivating and enjoyable. With their pasts on the heels and the social media world who is watching like big brother, it’s hard for them to keep their heads cool. The vulnerability of the characters was heartwarming, their redemption heartbreaking. It’s a story that kept me on the pages, I couldn’t put it away.

I've not read this author before, or any of the books in the series. This is completely stand alone.
I enjoyed this story as a whole. The narration! Whew, awesome! Russo is the primary reason I gave this a go, then the blurb got my attention and I was like, why not? This was certainly worth it. The characters were good, the plot (aside from the drama) was great, and the doggies! I may not like big, smelly, loud dogs in real life, but on page they are perfect, especially puppies. I am a sucker for puppies. :)
When Ty gets in trouble he heads to his uncles place in Hidden Creek, and Caleb is sent to put a new spin on Ty's image. Caleb uses the dogs (Ty's uncle runs a no kill shelter) in a 2 for 1 special - get homeless pups adopted and give Ty a new, softer, public image.
As I said, overall I enjoyed this story. The build up to Ty and Caleb getting together was exciting and I kept coming back for more. Once they hook up, the sex takes over and I had to skip parts because I just don't want that much sex in my romance. I am all for the sweet cuddles after, but after a while the act of sex on page is boring. Toss is the drama with Caleb's ex, Kevin, yeesh, my enjoyment did start to dim.
The ending was sweet and I am happy to report the dogs also get an HEA. Ty career in football changes to one of helping others with his same temper issues, using the dogs as a gateway. I found that a very satisfying and hopeful ending. Because of the drama I give this 3 stars. Narration 5. I do recommend this and I will keep an eye out for more by this author.
Meh. I can understand now why Lyn DNF'd at 74%. I wasn't all that engaged in the story either. Honestly, I should have really liked this one. Misunderstood football player, PR guy with a manipulative ex, rescue dogs with cute names like Hope and Bella, narration by Nick Russo. Somehow it just didn't add up to a win for me. The narration was outstanding (as expected) but I just didn't connect with the storyline or the characters :(
I really liked Ty and Caleb. I so understood where TY was coming from with beginning closed off and keeping that tough hard exterior. His father was an absolute POS. What he put Ty through was so wrong. Caleb has a POS ex, Kevin, who he had worked with, knew exactly how to build him up and then tear him down. He has quit his job and is now trying to make a name for himself. He takes on the job to fix TY’s public image. Ty is known as the beast and all the public sees is the violence on the field and off. He is in some serious trouble as he was recorded beating a man. He then accepts what he is being accused of. Our boys are staying at Ty’s uncles home who has a ranch and a no kill dog shelter. While they are working at both, Ty starts to overcome some of his fears. Caleb starts digging into who Ty really is under that hard shell. Of course Kevin shows up and starts causing trouble. I love seeing the boys grow to fall in love and find the HEA. I have not read any of the other books in the series but, I will most definitely be fixing that.
I love Nick J Russo, he always does a great job narrating the stories.

I am all for the puppies/dogs here. Because the story itself didn't shine for me.
Ty was the typical "boo hoo, misunderstood superstar". The reasons about his behavior just didn't ring true. While Caleb suddenly lost all the things that made him good in paper during the first interview. For me, Caleb felt like a green new employee. He wasn't convincing. At all.
This one was amazing! Ty and Caleb were simply WOW together. Adding the moments with John were spot on for getting us more connected. I felt like I was a part of Ty’s team and I don’t mean his football one. The dog moments were some of the most heartbreaking and heartwarming moments I’ve read in a long while. All that while having a strong connection with the Men of Hidden Creek world. The cameos and brief scenes to other books brought a smile to my face. I can’t get enough of this world. Great writing and a truly fantastic read.
What a sweet story, I felt so sad for Ty and his childhood experiences. I think Ty and Caleb was great for each other.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings Good dialogues Steaming hot love scenes Characters is developed in to realistic personalities Storyline progresses steadily with some drama but not to much.
Narrator: Clear pronunciation and read with feelings.
This was good, an athlete with a had reputation, needing a PR guy. Ty hires Caleb to help him, Caleb is different from all previous PR guys, he sees the real Ty. He digs a bit deeper to find the truth. Working at his uncle's dog rescue shelter was a brilliant move. Loved this.
Not as fluffy as I was expecting, as both main characters had a lot of emotional trauma they had to face in this short period of time. Whilst their connection was cute, I think it was the connections they made in the community that was excellent.
Damn what a book. I grew up watching football and sports. Living in a houseful of boys, you learned to love it or hate it. Most of the time I love it. So I get where people's perception sometimes get off when a player comes across too cocky or with a bad attitude. I have a few football players I can't stand because of it. But sometimes people's perceptions are wrong and I'd be the first to make an apology if I was. So with Ty, I got it. He had that persona that everyone loved to hate but the problem was, no one knew the real reasons behind what he did and why. Until Caleb came along. Caleb worked for a pr firm that gave two shits about how things really were. They were interested in making a buck and stirring up trouble. So he left. And left an abusive ex. Who is still trying to get to him and undermine him. But Caleb is determined to make it on his own and he's going to make sure Ty gets represented right. Especially when he starts digging to find out the truth behind all the so called violence. And he gets to the bottom quick. Amd Ty is not happy. Not because Caleb found out. He could care less what people thought of him. It was the people he was protecting. He didn't want them hurt again or more than they already were. But Caleb had a way about him. And the people Ty were protecting were standing up for themselves and for him. All while Ty was facing fears and demons from his own past. But again, Caleb had a way to fix that. When he learns of Ty's fear of dogs and why, he put him with one that knew his plight. And Ty started to change. He started to let go and relax. Even more so, when he learned the truth from his uncle about his past. But now, Caleb's past has come calling amd is doing everything he can to undermine Caleb and mess up Ty all to have Caleb under his thumb. But Ty is having no part of it and once again, due to manipulation, he's in jail. But the look on Caleb's face when he sees him, it's more than Ty can bear and they may not come back from this. When both parties have some abuse in their pasts, it makes things very difficult. Even if there's been therapy involved or whatever. It's still there. It never really goes away. There's no trust, people are leery and wary of starting anything and usually end of focusing on the one thing in their life that they are good at or passionate about in order to forget and move on. For these two, they both are doing it. Because both are running from their pasts instead of dealing with them. Of course, with both, it doesn't help when it's slammed in their faces one way or another every single day. But what I loved is Caleb. Even through his crap with his ex, he had an innocence about him. He still tried to see the good in everyone and tried to find the right way to help. And the rescue shelter was a perfect way to do so. He brought comfort, and an ease to people when paired with who they needed. And Ty was learning it was ok to let go and not have to hold on to that beast persona. He could be himself. He could relax for once. Because at least two people truly saw him for him. Nothing else. And that made all the difference. Sometimes it only takes one kind thing to do so. Something we all need to remember. We may be the one thing someone needs. http://lovebytesreviews.com/
This is the third book in Season Four of Hidden Creek, a series set in a fictional town in Texas where people come to heal. Tiberius “The Beast” Caulville is such a man. He’s an enforcer in the NFL and known on and off field as a beast. He takes his role seriously but all is not as it appears. His latest fight has landed him in some hot water with both the league and the law – if he doesn’t rehabilitate his image quickly and effectively then his career might be over.
Enter Caleb Brower, Public Relations guy, looking to make a name for himself. He’s been working with a manipulative man for a number of years who also happens to be his ex-boyfriend. He wants to put distance from that relationship and surely chasing a potential client from Atlanta to Hidden Creek Texas counts as an effective way to make his way out from the shadow. He has to prove himself and landing Tiberius as a client would go a long way toward accomplishing that goal.
Both men have a lot to lose if this working relationship doesn’t work out which means both of them need to keep it professional – right? But the chemistry is immediate because each man has what the other seems to want. Ty likes it a little rough and enjoys being the dominant partner. Caleb likes it when his partner takes the lead even though that sometimes makes him feel weak. Both men are also going to have to learn to communicate effectively if they’re going to make this relationship work – both professionally and personally.
To rehabilitate Ty’s image, Caleb looks to find the softer side. And, for Ty’s part, after initially fighting, he comes to see the benefits. As he ruminates: He could do this. He could show the world the softer side of the beast and in doing so prove he had a place.
Enter the dogs.
I was able immediately to tie the second book into this third one and was thrilled to see Bolt the dog’s origin story. There are other dogs who play a good sidekicks including Copper the digger. All puppies are curious, to be sure, but this little guy won my heart but not just his antics but by his stubborn unwillingness to go ‘down’ on command. My little one is the same way – great with ALL other commands except ‘down’. Stubborn dog.
But I digress. The dogs bring out something in Ty and even Caleb is surprised as Ty shares more and more of his personal history. All is not as it seems and Caleb is determined to get to the truth, not matter the cost. Ty believes the price is too high and that others might get hurt and that’s something he can’t allow – he’s a protector through and through.
There are some tough moments to take in the book related to the dogs but everything works out in the end. Warmed my animal lover’s heart. And the epilogue? Really well done.
Nick J. Russo is the narrator for this series and I think he was a great choice. He carries the characters and stories bringing consistency and great quality. Another great read and as a dog lover, it has a special place in my heart
I cried. Like, I had to hold my head back and try not to let my kids see my tears because they're sympathetic criers. How do you not feel so deeply for Ty and for his heart that's just too big under a skin that's not nearly as impenetrable as he makes it seem? Caleb's own situation was difficult because of the insidious enemy he wages his own internal war against. Two men who learn to love themselves, to forgive themselves, as they find love and acceptance in an unlikely place moved me more than I expected. This was a fantastic story with love, redemption, and a whole lot of drool-worthy steam.
Damn. Okay. Where to start. Honestly it was Ty who made this whole book for me. Even his slightly demeaning, salacious thoughts in the beginning and his general air of antipathy couldn't shake my need to know this man. Sure he was abrasive, yes he was inappropriate, absolutely he was dismissive...but when the world has been abusing, misconstruing, and using you for your entire life, it's understandable. Most especially because nothing he does is without thought for who he's really protecting. I ached for him time and time again; I also alternately cheered and swooned when he had his moments of vulnerability that morphed into something beautiful and humble. He was just...everything.
Caleb rubbed me the wrong way in the beginning, and while his reaction near the end was completely understandable, I couldn't help being incredibly disappointed in him. No stranger to either witnessing or experiencing types of abuse, this is in no way victim shaming him for what he thought or did, it's merely seeing it from his perspective that had me wishing he was a little more forceful against his own fears. Learning to stand up for yourself, and to yourself, is quite possibly more liberating than anything else. I wanted that for him so much. I'm immensely glad he got his chance to see that, but would have liked to see his own evolution rather than catch a glimpse or two. He also needed to do a little more groveling and confessing to Ty since there was a hurt there that I felt was a little too brushed aside.
And then you have the dogs. My own experience growing up with and around dogs totally sways my view on their treatment and it was when you combined Ty with Hope and Bella that made me fall headlong into love with him and the story. I was astounded that we got so much depth of character, background, fears, hopes, and all the things into this relatively short story. Using the rescue aspect of the kennel gave the perfect vehicle for Ty's progression and for the transformation of his relationship with Caleb. It was written beautifully. The whole story was. There's nothing better than a story like this, well-written, great balance, depth, awesome chemistry, and all the feels.
This book is part of the current season of the Men of Hidden Creek series. I love this series and the hook…each book in the series each season is written by a different author. Season four has six books released between August 16, 2019-September 20, 2019. You get a common theme but with a different voice each time. Each book is an independent story so you don’t have to read the others in order to enjoy this one.
This third book in season four is such a heartwarming story. It centers on themes of after effects of abuse, how our past shapes our present and the masks we wear to cover our wounds. Ultimately it is a story of truth telling and redemption.
The MCs, Ty, a football player with a reputation that has earned him the nickname Beast, and Caleb, a PR person looking to start over by getting a contract that could help establish him independent of his former boyfriend and boss. When Ty, who wants no part of the process is impressed by what Caleb has to say in his interview he insists that his manager hire him. Of course initially Ty is a jerk full of inappropriate innuendos but Caleb resists him and sees something in Ty that others don’t see. He’s determined to get others to see it as well thus saving “The Beast’s” football career. This all comes together in the form of the dog rescue (hence the title) that Ty’s uncle is running.
The author does a great job of character development and gradually getting us to see everything behind both men’s current personas. The story arc moves well and when Ty and Caleb’s relationship eventually becomes physical the scenes between them are steamy. However, I was so drawn to the storyline about the dogs, the slimy PR guy and the dynamics of rescuing Ty’s reputation that I flew through those scenes to get to story I was so deeply into!
The crisis scene is heart breaking and you just want to reach into the pages to soothe the MCs. The resolution to the crisis happens a bit too quickly and mostly off page…too bad because I REALLY wanted to see some serious humiliation for the dirtbag!
The ending is sweet and I’m looking forward to what else this season has to offer. Each book stands alone but you will see people we’ve previously met in Hidden Creek pop up in subsequent stories.
**I received an advanced reader copy for an objective review. **
I loved this book so much up until the 80% mark. Actually, it was well on its way to becoming one of my favorites and then everything sort of crashed down.
Ty was amazing and I had all the feels for him and the broken puppies, Bella and Hope. I could see the parallels between Ty and the dogs and I was heartbroken by everything they all had to go through and so damn proud that they got past most of it. I really liked Caleb, for the most part. I felt bad for him and what his ex did to him and up to a certain point, I could understand why he reacted the way he did. Thing is, while Ty could get past it, I couldn't and it marred the whole thing for me. Before that part, I was loving the UST and the chemistry between Ty and Caleb and how Caleb seemed to see past The Beast's—Ty's nickname while he played—exterior. They just fit well together, both in and out of the bedroom, or the shed, or wherever they got it on.
I knew something was coming, I just didn't expect it to play like it did and yeah, it ruined the experience for me. I was always going to hate Caleb's ex because he was a horrible excuse for a human being, so there was no surprise there, the surprising part and not in a good way was Caleb's reaction and I'll just leave it at that. I just can't get over it. *grumbles*
Nick's voices were amazing as always and his rendition of all the characters was flawless. He nailed it in the emotion department and had me tearing up more than a couple of times.
While I was disappointed with the final portion of the book, or rather the last angsty moment, I think it was an enjoyable experience for the most part and hey, you might not think the same about what happened, so give it a try.
Such a wonderful story to read, full of drama, tension and adorable dogs! I'd probably say this was a slow burn but it definitely combusts when the two MC's come together. Ty has been removed from the public eye after yet another altercation in the public. He's such a troubled soul and my heart really went out to him, especially with his response to his uncle and the dogs. Calebis fighting for his independence and to get out from his ex boyfriend's thumb both in his personal and professional life. His new client is hard work but he's determined to do everything above board and honestly. There's an instant attraction between the two men but their work relationship is a work in progress. Alison does a wonderful job of drawing you into the story and drawing out the emotion of both men as we work through the book, especially as they come to trust one another and share their personal histories. The descriptions of the characters and the world around them made it really easy to imagine and follow the journey that the two men went on. I love the interaction that we get between Ty, Caleb and characters from books that we've already met in the series. The books can absolutely be read as a stand alone, there is just an occasional crossover of characters and the Summer Fair happens in all the books. Another recomendation from me for this series. Wonderfully written with a lot going on for both men, engaging the reader and holding your attention throughout. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
Tiberius Caulville is The Beast of NFL,with a long list of violence and attacks, on and outside the field. The last one on the list got him suspended and then forced to hide from the press at his uncle's house. In order to fix his public image he needs good PR work and that's why he hires Caleb Brower.
At the beginning, seeing the premises of the book,I was ready for sizzling attraction and growing feeling, because of the forced proximity and all...you know,a simple enough story line: they meet, get to know each other, fall in love... Nothing wrong with that,I would of really enjoyed it all the same. Oh,Ty and Caleb definitely lust and burn for one another, but they end up connecting over something far more deeper:they both painful emotional scars, fears and debilitating insecurities...things they never expected to have in common.
That's why their story kept me on the brink of tears through most of it. It was beautiful and heartbreak how the author interlaced Ty and Caleb's history with that of rescued dogs, men and animals alike struggling to trust again,to stop fearing someone getting too close.
So,in Rescue by Alison Hendricks, Caleb comes to Hidden Creek ready to do everything in his power to save the career of Tiberius 'The Beast' Caulville. Instead he slowly discovers Ty,the beautiful, tender, protective man hiding under the violent front. And in Hidden Creek both Caleb and Ty find love ,home and a new purpose.
Pick it up and get ready for dog kisses,a soul-stirring story of overcoming abuse and a wonderful romance.
A beautiful story where there is much more than meets the eye!
I loved the intrigue Alison created throughout this story. We only learn small pieces of each character as their journey unfolds and their pasts collide with the present. I loved Ty and his truely wonderful and caring hidden nature. He is always protecting someone and has a heart of gold. He is able to overcome some of his greatest fears and trauma from his past to help a desperate dog in need! I found this part and Ty’s overall healing really touching and relatable. I loved that this story focused on the characters individually more so than “just another love story”. I felt there was real relatable depth to both these characters and the fact that they were attracted to each other was a bonus and happened organically even if lust was ever-present.
I felt for Caleb and his asshole ex’s pestering and interfering and I’m so glad he was able to finally stand up for himself and let himself accept and care for Ty. There were definitely some hard moments and challenges for both characters throughout this story but I loved the growth, healing, care, and love at every turn.
A beautiful addition to the Men of Hidden Creek and the perfect example of why this town is so special!! I loved it!
Rescue is Alison Hendrick's contribution to the multi author series, Men of Hidden Creek, Season Four. Like I've come to expect from Alison Hendricks, it's a good one.
Ty's an NFL player who's in Hidden Creek, hiding while his PR team tries to rehab his imagine. They're trying to save his reputation from his nickname "The Beast" and his "anger" issues. There he meets Caleb.
Their relationship involves dealing with a lot of past abuse, manipulation, and control. They have to deal with lies and sabotage. And dogs. Lots of rescue dogs. Not only do the men have an emotional journey, the dog scenes will leave you feeling wrecked at times too.
This is a story of seeing beneath the public persona and falling for the man behind the mask. It's a story of finding someone who brings you peace.
The author includes a good look at the negative reaction by people on the internet. Ty has way too many haters making up things about him, including lots of rumors and wrong information about him. The author also does a great job exploring the mental damage that is caused by abuse.
Rescue is an enjoyable read of two men falling in love while they deal with their insecurities and doubts. I absolutely enjoyed it all.
Hidden Creek seems like such a great place to be. I'd love to go spend some time there, just to absorb the loveliness, and maybe stay for the atmosphere.
Ty, sadly, doesn't really want to stay there, but he has to stay there because he's in trouble. He's an NFL player who has a bad rep, and now he has to go stay with his uncle outside of Hidden Creek.
Caleb is a PR flack. He wants to get the job of getting trying to rehab Ty's image. He isn't going to gloss over it and just make Ty look good, he wants to tell a much more real story.
I really like Ty. I didn't think I would because he's supposed to be all big and bad, but he really is just a sweet and gushy teddy bear deep down inside. He isn't everything that he seems, and he has his own issues, which lead to what people think of him.
Caleb has his issues, of course, but he is a lot stronger than certain people think of him. He digs down deep and is able to help Ty. He is able to dig down deep and stand up to Ty when necessary and to do the things that he has to do.
There are all kinds of sweet and beautiful doggies in here, although there is one that is in a not nice situation. Ty and Caleb have a lot of love and it's super sexy. Great storu.
A beautiful, heartwarming slow-burn MM romance with an “enemies/friends to lovers” theme & I will admit that I really enjoyed reading it. The plot is quite well-written & entertaining while tugging at your heart. The characters are well-developed & have a variety of traits and different sides to their personalities & they are reasonable realistic with their emotional feelings & expectations, as they continue to develop throughout the story-line. There is a bad boy (Tiberius Cauville aka The Beast aka Ty) of the NFL is forced to hide out in Hidden Creek after some violent confrontations & meets a rather sassy male PR agent (Caleb Brower) & hires him, Ty’s kind & caring uncle (John), Caleb’s despicable ex-boyfriend (Kevin), a no-kill dog shelter, rescue dogs, some twists, intrigue drama, aggression, frustration, belittlement, attempted manipulations, humor, interviews, attractions, sarcasm, a adoption event, cynical views, fantasies, memories, confrontations, shock, smear campaigns, false media reports, bogus charges, press conferences, text messages, insecurities, misunderstandings, emotional turmoil, compromises, declarations, love, contentment & a very satisfying epilogue
This was a really good story. The character development is always something that I look for first in a book when I'm deciding whether or not it is a quality book, and the author did an outstanding job with that. Both Ty and Caleb grow throughout the story, especially Ty, who I loved with a passion.
The plot was interesting and kept me engaged from the beginning, the writing is good quality, and Ty's struggles were described vividly. I totally felt for him and could have cried for what he went through as a child.
However, I found Caleb harder to warm to. Not really sure why. I feel that never really got a strong awareness of just how badly his abuse by Kevin was. I'm not belittling his abuse, I just didn't get a feeling for it. This, in my mind, made what happened at 80% of the story worse. I was aghast at how he treated poor Ty!
Still, I enjoyed the story. Loved reading about Ty blossoming as an individual and dogs were everywhere. That'll make a book for me. 4.5 stars
This is a great story with an intriguing storyline and amazing characters. Ty and Caleb are complete opposites but underneath all of his bluster and rough exterior as well as all of the bad press that he doesn't even try to correct Ty is a sweet, protective and caring person who had a horrific childhood. Caleb is trying to help Ty improve his public image and he is surprised to learn how badly Ty has been treated and how unfounded the accusations against him are. Caleb will do everything he can to save Ty's career and the more time he spends with him the more he falls for him. They have an instant connection and smoking hot chemistry even though they both try to fight it for very different reasons. I love the dogs and Ty's uncle John is amazing as he struggles to save all of the dogs he can as well as tryng to establish a relationship with Ty. The ending is perfect and I look forward to reading more books by this author as well as more of the books in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Tiberius (Ty) is a former NFL player, troublemaker and all around bad boy. He just happens to have found himself in hot water and needs to clean up his image. He gets put in touch with Caleb, a PR man who's running from a horrible past and toxic relationship with his ex. Ty is put to work at his uncle's dog shelter and those poor animals stories just about broke my heart. As Try and Caleb get to know one another, they come to realize neither is what he seems to be. Ty projects an assumed image but in reality he's got a heart of gold and is fiercely protective of his family and friends to the point of detriment to himself. Ty just wants to show Caleb his true self and be the best version of himself for his own well-being and Caleb. Caleb has to learn to stand up for himself and stop relying on old coping mechanisms. These men both need to learn to communicate better and love and accept themselves, flaws and all in order to be receptive to the love they're offering each other. I absolutely loved the idea of the dog shelter and dogs helping bring these men together.
💕Romance with a rescue 🐕dog twist - definitely tug of the heartstrings 😪 August 30, 2019 Format: Kindle Edition 😊 Enjoyable, well-written romance with some 🔥heat and plenty of pathos as the romantic leads and the rescue dogs they help deal with their history of abuse. Caleb and Tiberius - great name choice! - are an interesting couple. The brawny football player has unresolved issues stemming from his abusive father that lead him into trouble time and again. His new PR expert is still raw from the psychological wounds inflicted by his former partner Kevin. When Caleb and Ty are there for each other it's truly touching. But neither is perfect and that realism helps make it a better, more thoughtful story. Just please tell me that I will never have to deal with a character like Kevin: argh, what a heel!
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
We are back in Hidden Creek a gem of a Texan town that is so inclusive it makes you want to live there. This is the fourth season of this wonderful multi-author series.
Ty ‘the beast’ is an NFL linebacker and in trouble again, so he goes to his uncle’s in Hidden Creek to lie low. Caleb is the PR man hired to help Ty’s image, he’s trying to start again after splitting from his ex and his ex’s firm.
After a slow tension filled start these very different men find common ground on which to work, they build on this finding away to represent Ty in a new light, even when outside sources are determined to tear them down.
This is a sweet but drama filled book about second chances with every scene stolen by a cute pup. Ty and Caleb have a lust driven dynamic which makes the narrative between them. This is a really good book and is so worth reading.
