Willpower is the strength that we all have inside ourselves that provides us with the ability to not only make decisions but also carry them out accordingly. Willpower is the muscle we all need to fight against the inevitable resistance and difficulties that life throws our way. Not to mention those times where we feel too lazy or discomforted to move forward. Without willpower, we would be like chickens with our head cut off, running around in circles. Willpower enables us to resist temptation and keeps us from acting on urges that are self-destructive. Willpower is responsible for the “pause-and-plan” response, which keeps us in a calm state of mind as we “power” through situations and consider the best options. It also sends energy to our frontal cortex in the brain, which enables us to keep adequate track of goals and oversee cravings or impulses that will unpaved our path to success.
