An interesting use of person shift going from the narrator being a whole group omnipotent to a first person individual. Folarin uses the context of Nigerian pentecostal churches to explore the idea of community and miracles. What is a miracle? in this case, the understanding of what others need to feel connection.
3 stars - Very interesting and well told, but not a subject I particularly seek out to read. I liked it, in that it was easy to follow along and didn't get too into the weeds, but again just one of those subjects I am not enthusiastic about. That being said, the author's style is very nice and I did find it an easy listen.
Heard this as part of the LeVar Burton Reads podcast.
I liked it. From mys perspective it was a weird but fascinating glimpse into an unknown world. I'm usually not much for stories about faith because I have problems relating, but this was something else. I managed to give a very different perspective on the subject in a way that was tongue-in-cheek without mocking it.
