Bounty Hunters #2

Promises Part 2

Rate this book
Roman “Quick” Webb is one badass bounty hunter on the crime-filled streets of Atlanta. He’s fearless when it comes to carrying out his dangerous job alongside his longtime best friend and business partner, Duke. However, there is one thing that has begun to cause Quick concern and it’s the dreadful thought of living out the rest of his life alone. Seeing his best friend and his son fall in love and sharing the special connection that only true soulmates can, has made him all the more aware of what’s lacking in his life.

Love.

Dr. Cayson Chauncey has been wildly attracted to the big, tattooed hunter for almost a year, ever since he performed the surgery that saved Quick’s best friend’s life. Cayson must’ve mistaken Quick’s gratitude for something more, because the one time he tried to make his desires known, he was harshly rebuffed and left on the man’s doorstep feeling stupid for hitting on an obviously very straight man.

Cayson never dated a man who was willing to come out of hiding and be with him. Now at almost forty, Cayson is intent on no longer being anyone’s dirty secret. Having experienced countless disappointments, and having taken a stand not to fall for any more tricks, Cayson is more than a little skeptical when Quick comes around asking for a second chance to prove himself. The gorgeous man had already made it clear that he was not interested in Cayson… or so he’d thought.

Dr. Chauncey stirred up Quick’s suppressed, most carnal desires from a place deep down inside of him. He’d reacted so badly the first time that now his sexy surgeon wanted nothing to do with him. It was going to take a fair amount of patience and a whole lot of wooing involved as Quick sets out to convince Cayson that he’s worth another chance and that he is the brave lover who Cayson has been looking for.

With a scorned ex and a very dangerous job thrown into the mix, Cayson’s happiness and all of Quick’s promises may not be as easy to keep as they’d hoped.

Review to come when I've got more time but have to say these two were just perfect together....and,yes .....one's dominant......So damn hot ...

Last year I couldn't even get passed the sample. I even gave it 1 star because of editing. I was annoyed with the inconsistency of Quick's age from book 1 to book 2. Quick is in his early 40's. His son Vaughan is in his early 30's. Am I supposed to believe Quick had a kid at age 10? Punctuation, the occasional misspelled word...I can get past that. But changing up anything that has to do with a character or confusing characters is a big pet peeve.

Moving past that, I enjoyed Quick and Cayson's story. Total OTT sweetness and action.

Another great re-read 2/27/19

I have read a lot of Via's books already....they are a bit like crack to me. I can binge read them for days and not do anything else...I love them ;)

 photo tumblr_n9fc0to0IC1tghzbso1_500_zps0vw8kyab.gif

I was really looking forward to reading this one because my heart broke for Cayson at the end of the previous book. I was not disappointed, but I have to be honest here and admit that I liked the previous book better. Even though I thought that Cayson was a very endearing character, his low self-esteem and depressive thoughts, got on my nerves after a while... He was really bringing me down.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor dont you bring me down gif

So...we've met Rome and Cayson in the previous book. Cayson is Duke and Vaughan's doctor, who performed the kidney transplant. Rome is Vaughan's father and Duke's best friend. This is how the 2 men met. Rome was quite the asshole towards Cayson in book 1, but he really tries to make up for his mistakes in this one.

Cayson is weary ...he has always been treated like shit by other men. Case in point, is his current fuck buddy, dr. Joe. I don't think you can technically call him a fuck buddy if he refuses to actually fuck... I also think you have to at least be buddies, and these two are definitely not.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor so confused gif

Cayson ends thing with dr. Joe, because he's not getting what he needs out of their arrangement. Dr. Joe, however, is not very accepting of his decision...which is what the background storyline is all about.

Rome does his best to wine and dine Cayson and make him see, that he's not ashamed to be with him in public and that he really wants to be with Cayson. It was very sweet and I really liked Rome's character in this book.

It felt like the steam was a bit milder in this one...Actually, it felt like everything was a bit milder. The action, the steam, the emotions. Which is why I think the previous book was better...at least for me it was.

I still enjoyed it though, and I can't wait to see who's up next...I hope Brian, he really intrigues me...but Ford and Dana's story would also be welcomed ;)

Just one more thing I want to bitch about though...

What the fuck was up with God and Day ??? I really liked Day's character in the all the other books I've read, but he was such a little asshole in this one...and God just stood there, protecting him and shit....what a bunch of douchebags !!!

My opinion on them really sunk !! I think I would have really enjoyed it if Rome had punched Day in the face :)

 photo tumblr_inline_no0ajbt2t11tqggxf_500_zpsaeurci84.gif

Not that he did something extreme, but it just didn't match his character...it was also totally unnecessary! It put Day in a very different light for me and I've got to say... I don't like it. Let's hope he will be back to his normal self in the upcoming books ;)

I really recommend this one and the previous series ;)

Reread January 2018

Still loved Quick and still think Cayson was naive. But my big complaint, and I don’t know why it didn’t bother me the first time, is all the stupid brand name dropping. I don’t need to know he had on a HANES T-shirt or HANES boxers. Just plain old generic T-shirt and boxers works for me. Or he used TIDE laundry detergent or had DOLBY speakers. I can use my own imagination and don’t need those types of specific details 🙄. Honestly it took me out of the story.

Originally read May 2017

Love, love, love Quick. He was an awesome hero. Dirty talking dominant in and out of the bedroom. Now that's what I'm talking about and missed in book 1.

Cayson was good too if a little naive. He deserved to be happy and he broke my heart a couple of times.

I'm looking forward to the brothers' stories.

3 Stars!

I don't know why I continue with this series. I read book one then book 3. Yes out of order but it didn't matter. I didn't like book one and the only reason I read book 3 is because it was a dollar. Well guess why I decided to read this one. I can't pass up a sale y'all! Anyways, for some reason I thought this might be a bit different considering how Quick is portrayed in the other 2 books as some martial arts badass. He was. But like the other books he turned into a sap which left this big tough guy feeling less like a badass these men are suppose to be. I mean these guys are suppose to be bounty hunters. Where's all the action?! At the end that's where. I think these books would be more enjoyable if these guys weren't falling so fast and hard and there was as much action as there was romance. I can't handle all the mush. It's too much. Quick was an OK guy and character. The doctor? Not so much. His character was all about getting his ass filled than anything. He was too needy for me.

Doubt I'll continue with this series. Unless there's a sale. LOL

Happy reading dolls! xx

3.5*

This is the second book I've read by this author (Promises Part 1 being the first one) and while it's not (for me anyway) a 5* read there's enough here to make me want to continue on.

I fell in love with Dr. Chauncey in the previous book and I really wanted him to find his much deserved and long overdue HEA.
Roman has a lot to make for and credit where credit is due he gives it his best shot, determined to win over the Doctor with care and romance.

I really liked both the main characters but....

I know I'm an impatient reader but at one point I was thinking they were never going to get together. I know Roman had to win his trust but all the dancing around each other went on just a little too long for me.

Ok so this was better than book 1 and I rate it around a 3.75. I think I was spoiled by the Nothing Special series and expected the same pace. While I enjoyed Quick, Cayson drove me a little mad ! Just didn't warm to him even though I tried to empathize. Still enjoyed it, but wanted a bit more

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*So damn meh*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

Though this one was better than the first book in the series, it wasn't all that. Sure, it was straight forward, easy to read, not much depth and a easy plot (if you can call it a plot...), but since there was little depth, you didn't really get to know the characters deeply or personally (same with book #1). The book centers around bounty hunter Roman ‘Quick’ Webb (45? 49? How old?) and Dr. Cayson ‘Cays’ Chauncey (39? 40? How old?). These two met in the previous book when Cays was Quick's son's and his best friend's doctor. Quick didn't like how he reacted towards the doctor, making him feel alive and such, and treated Cays badly.
“I’m also not concerned with tricks or seduction. Just show me you, Rome. I’ll be able to see through an act. I’ve had enough men act a certain way to get a certain something. I’m done with actors. Promise you’ll be real.” No more guys acting concerned, acting in love, acting… straight. He needed… wanted a real man.

Now that Quick has finally realized that Cays might be his shot at a happy ending, he has to do everything he can to convince the doctor to forgive him and give him another shot. That won't be easy, because Cays will never let a man walk all over him again. Also, there's his ex-‘boyfriend’, Dr. Joe. (though it was more of an arrangement) who refused to accept that they are over. Overall, the story was predicable, most parts boring, there's the insta-lust AND insta-love and little personal connection between readers and characters.

“Do you want me to get rid of him for you, Cays? Because I will. Whatever you need me to do. Just ask.” Quick stood closer now. Looking large and damn sure in charge. It gave Cayson a warm feeling deep down that Quick wanted to help him… protect him. He spoke like it’d take an army to move him, to get close enough to harm Cayson.

Though Quick is probably usually my type; as he was dominant and a little bit controlling, strong and sure of himself, a alpha male, I still didn't fall in love with him. Sure, I liked him alright, but nothing special. Cays just wanted love and caring in his life and someone who isn't embarrassed to be seen out with him. He's not all doormat, but he's far from a alpha male. More of a submissive, in this relationship. He, too, was nothing special for me. I'm not sure if I want to continue the series.
If Joe acted like he wanted to hurt his sweet doctor, then Quick was going to stick the entire barrel of his pistol in his mouth and make him deep throat it like the pussy he was, then he’d pistol whip him with it. Yep. That was Quick. Fuck with someone he considered important, and a side of him no one wanted to meet came out.

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (A) Contemporary Romance (M/M)
Series: - Series (Standalone?), Book Two
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Roman ‘Quick’ Webb.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Probably not.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Unsure.
Will I read this again in the future? - No.
Rating - 2 stars.

Dr. Cayson Chauncey is a man who has been denied in love for a very long time. Roman “Quick” Webb is the tough as guts bounty hunter whom Cayson is hopelessly attracted to. However, the one time Cayson hit on Quick he was rebuffed badly.

Quick has known he's bisexual most of his life, but he married a woman, and has been in relationships with women because it's been easier. So he's unprepared for the desire and feelings Cayson brings out in him. Once he gets his head out of his ass he realizes Cayson is a wonderful man who would be a great catch and he goes about convincing the once-bitten-twice-shy doctor to give a possible relationship a chance.

Cayson is unused to the men he's with being out, or willing to be seen with him, so when Quick pulls out all the stops, including proving he's not only willing to be seen with the doctor, but immensely proud to be with him, Cayson's heart quickly melts. Unfortunately Cayson's ex doesn't like, or want to believe, Cayson is moving on and proceeds to stir up a lot of trouble for the two.

While the story moves quickly in most parts, I felt like the romance itself took too long to get going. I felt like a caged lion pacing back and forth waiting for a meal while I read, hoping with each turn of the page that this would be when the two finally get together. I was SO HAPPY when they finally stopped circling each other and Cayson gave Quick the opportunity to woo him. While both men are great characters, I definitely have a soft spot for Cayson. I so badly wanted to see him happy.
Quick caressed down the side of his cheek. He was looking at him like Cayson hung the stars and the moon. Was he so desperate that he was imagining all this? But Quick said he wanted to take care of him. Him. He’d be crazy not to see if there was any way Quick could give him what his body deserved. What it craved. He needed… wanted a real man.

cuddling
“I love you, Cayson. I do. And, I haven’t said that to many people. My sweet Cays. I love you from a place so deep, that I feel like I’ve just started to live life. That a missing part of me has come alive, and it feels so good when I’m with you. I know I have my son, and my friends. But you soothe something inside of me that no one ever has. That’s how I know.”

Though it didn't hold the same punch for me as Part I, I enjoyed the story overall, and I'm looking forward to the other Bounty Hunters stories.

2.5 stars, rounded up to 3 to reward the better editing this author finally got!

What can I say, here? The editing was much better than I've come to expect from this author! Other than a couple of minor things that I've already forgotten the particulars of, there were no major spelling or grammar errors, yay for that!

I think this story was even more ludicrous than I've come to expect from this author. Via loves her a good, badass alpha male with a heart of gold, and this time she gives us that in Roman "Quick" Webb. Roman started to fall for Cayson in the first book of the series, but he acted like an ass, so he spends the first quarter or so of this one making up for it. He does pretty good at wooing Cayson and winning back his trust.

What I didn't like was how silly it was that, in his whole life, Cayson NEVER found a guy that was willing to date him in the open. He's always found guys who treated him like shit, guys who used him while hiding in their closets. Cayson, a smart, kind, sexy doctor, couldn't find a man who wanted to date him openly? Get real, people!

And then there was the "Ex" Doctor Joe, who very quickly went into caricature villain territory, so over the top it was ridiculous. He went from the closeted guy who used Cayson for hookups, but wouldn't fuck or let himself be fucked (what was Cayson getting out of this exactly?) to an obsessive psycho who shows up at all hours, makes threats and even . This guy was just too much.

If all you want is some mindless good fun with some hot sex and a hot alpha male, you'll probably like this, but if you want actual logic and a sensible plot, maybe check elsewhere.

Ok, folks, I know this is the next day, but I just thought of something else that bugged the HELL out of me during the first half (probably more) of this story: Cayson's constantly "aching hole, because he hasn't been fucked in so long. Sorry, but the only time I've ever had "aching holes" is maybe AFTER a good pounding, not because I've been missing one. Is this a guy thing, or just something silly on the part of way too many M/M authors? Does a man really feel the need for sex as an actual, physical ache in his asshole?

** 4.75 stars **

Well, this is more like it! It's definitely better than the first book. Although in the beginning Roman first refers to himself as a gay man and calls his ex-wife his beard but later he uses the term bisexual. That was not confusing at all, no one said ever! Then after slight stereotyping (He thought that only women loved flowers, I mean flower language was used to be well-known and yes, mainly used by men to get out of the doghouse, but a man secure in his masculinity or any man really can enjoy tulips or roses just the same as any woman, so there!) the pace and the story picked up, and I enjoyed myself!

First, let me just say that on the hotness scale from 1 to 100 this book was a gazillion! So, that part is great! I liked Cayson most of the time especially his journey from insecure to self-confident. It was wonderful. I also appreciated him as a professional as he is very talented and smart. What was a tad odd was his attitude towards Dr. Joe - he was clearly a threat and his insistence he could handle the situation was all fake bravado and unnecessary but, thank the stars, he stopped and actually let Quick help him.

Quick aka Roman is Assholian citizen in the first book but here, when he pulls the stick out, he finally sees his chance at happiness and grabs it. The romantic side is lovely, he is protective, growly, possessive and just a gentleman. So I liked him and how he was with his colleagues, son and, of course, Cays! Awww to the nickname! More of his history is revealed and he is one tough man! Respect is where it's due!

As for all the excitement of the stalker and his creepiness, I loved the whole scenario and how it was written. I had real fun! The characters from the first book played a bigger part and even some characters from another series were introduced, God and Day, and made me curious to read about them! Should I or should I not? What do you think? Overall, I am liking this series more and more. So, I will recommend this one!

I did enjoy this story but it was a three star because of Quick's character. Going right from Part 1 to his own story felt a little like I was reading about a different character. I would have loved to see the tension I saw between him and Cayson when they were both secondary characters and I guess without it I was a little disappointed.

Re-read.
I'm upping the rating. (originally 4 stars)

**********************************************

4.5 stars

My goodness, that was surprisingly good. Even better than the book #1. I know it will be sappy with this author. It's okay. As long as I could enjoy it.

What I liked:
- The 'wooing' and the 'groveling' part. Hell yes!
- The UST. Great chemistry between the characters.
- I have a kink with an over-protective partner. But not overly crazy. And Quick was such an epitome of that. Possessive without being a jerk.
- Hot sex scenes. I know I'm the first person who's going to bitch and moan about sex scenes. But here? No. I read all of it and I liked it. Perfect amount. Good rhythm. Yummy.

What I disliked:
- Crazy psycho ex-boyfriend. Sometimes it's just getting old.

Well I liked that part much more that I initially thought. With a plot I didn’t expect after reading the blurb. And *sigh, Aiden Snow makes just every (audio)book better.

I’m very happy for Quick and Cayson ♡

“Marry me.”

Hahahaha he hasn’t even said "I love you“ yet!!
Ah okay, here it is…

“I know it seems rushed and too fast, but …. You’re it.”
“I love you, Cayson. …I love you from a place so deep, that I feel like I’ve just started to live life. That a missing part of me has come alive, and it feels so good when I’m with you. …”

I’m so glad I love being in this world of A.E. Via because since the beginning of the series I can’t wait for the story of book #4 Promises Part 4 - so it’s okay that there is the third book for me to listen to first.

That went crazy town

3.5*

I'm not sure what exactly happened with this book but it went straight off into crazy town with the plotline.

Also the grammatical errors were back and there were some really weird editing choices that felt like almost 'fourth wall' breaking moments.

I thought this was going to be a favourite when I started as it had a load of my best tropes, including bisexual first times, opposites attract, nerdy guy and a bad a** alpha.

And, for the first two quarters it promised to deliver a cracking good story. Then somewhere around the third quarter, things began going nuts.

I was at the eye-rolling stage instead of the eagerly waiting to see what happened next unfortunately for quite a while.

But, things eventually got back on a more normal keel and it came good in the end.

I've also knocked a bit off for the fact God and Day in this book didn't seem remotely like the characters I've loved in Nothing Special.
Both came across as arrogant but also mean and bitchy, an impression I've never had about them before.

I wasn't a fan at all. I also wasn't a fan of using clean for sexual status either. Clean implies the opposite is dirty.

They're my major grumbles, I loved both the MCs and found their falling in love to be really sweet.

Well I purchased the remaining books in this series. Now I must convalescence!

That was just wow. I mean you got to know you are the villian in your own story. Why? Cause you are the one doing the most, for someone that asked you nicely to stop.

Just saying!

Considering what an a*****e Quick was to Cayson in the last book I had hoped for some serious grovelling from him. Not so much. The story took another turn that I didn't saw coming - enter Cayson's "friends with benefits" colleague Dr Joe. Omg, this is perhaps the most OTT I've read from this author. But as always I'm entertained. On to the next 💃

*** These men were made for each other ! ***
Great story of a skilled surgeon and a eighth degree black belt bounty hunter finding enough common ground to reach out to one another.
Forty-something kick-ass, big, hunky, Roman/Quick

is a Grandmaster in Martial Arts, who works with a tough group of men to bring runaway criminals to justice. He's been married, has a son, and has never acted on his attraction to men until he meets Dr. Crayson Chauncey,

a shy surgeon who sees to the health of the bounty hunters group. Crayson is tired of being someone's closet friend, and never having awesome sex. He wants it with Roman. He's never had the deep emotion he gets with Rome. This is first time territory for Roman, and he wants to slowly woo his doctor, not scare him away, and he too has never had such intense emotion as he has with Crayson. Crayson's ex is an ass, a horrible man, who never had full sex with Crayson, but refuses to let him go. Many threats from the ex which escalate.. and the guys discussions also, as the men begin their relationship, talk and get some heavy kissing and touching going on.

Cays and Rome get closer and closer to what each one wants; to be loved, cherished, and accepted for themselves. We love these guys right away, and the book can stand alone, but it is book two in a series. There's action, violence, suspense, bounty hunters in performance of their duties, some injuries along the way, but also super hot lovin', with first times for each man. Very cute how Rome looks up what to do to make his lover have pleasure, and how to have M/M sex correctly.
The camaraderie of the group is great.
Well written and interesting, this book is hard to put down. This is a different story of romance and love.
Loved this tough guy-sweet guy dynamic.
I highly recommend it. ENJOY !!!

This is a different kind of review I'm sharing today. I actually let the Author fire off some questions for me to answer in my review.

Roman Quick Webb may be a fearless Bounty Hunter, but watching his son Vaughn and his best friend Duke fall in love has caused one thing Quick fears to rise to the surface. Being alone. Quick has always known he was bi-sexual though he’s never really given himself a chance to explore the guy aspect of that sexuality. The shy, smart, sexy doctor that overseas Duke’s transplant care awakens feelings Quick long since thought went dormant.

Cayson Chauncey is a brilliant physician. He has put every ounce of his being into not only becoming a doctor, but becoming the best. His love life is on life support though. Quick has to eat crow and prove to Cays that he’s not the rude, brash bastard he first met. It is a learning experience for both of them. Through it all, there is a thorn that continues to poke and prod and Cays has to learn the hard way that mixing business and pleasure, probably not a good idea.

AE Via: What did you think of the plot of the story for Promises part 2?

Tams: I loved it actually. It was a different kind of take on the crazy ex mentality, I don’t want you but if I can’t have you, no one else can. The chapter where Duke and Vaughn show up right when Quick is about to show Cayson some self-defense movies was a lot of fun. Watching the three of them (Quick, Duke and Vaughn) and the way they interact was fun.

AE Via: Were there any holes in the story, or a lack of chemistry between the characters?

Tams: Not in my opinion. I think some people may read the book and perceive it as an insta-love story though. But when you factor in that it has actually been a couple of months that these two have been tip toeing around each other… well, Cayson has been tip toeing. Quick’s reaction to Cays dance was more like a bull in a China shop. Then factor in their undeniable chemistry, mutual and intense attraction to one another and the fact that they are both right around forty years old. Taking all that into consideration and I think that falling for each other was the next logical step, who cares how fast it happened?

AE Via: Did the story flow well?

Tams: Absolutely! The pace was steady from start to finish with a few twists and turns along the way.

AE Via: What was your favorite part of the story?

Tams: Watching Quick romancing Cayson. You could tell he was a little bit out of his element, but you could also tell that he wanted to convey the depth of his feelings for Cayson. There were a few awkward, uncomfortable moments, but the way they were written and resolved worked out perfectly for me. Also, there was an internal dialogue going throughout the story, from both men’s mindset, and I felt like it made the story more dramatic, gave it added depth, to listen to what Quick and Cays were thinking and feeling at any given moment.

AE Via: So, you’ve said the chemistry, connection and romance was there. What about passion?

Tams: Quick was slightly shockingly a very passionate lover. But then I am sitting here now thinking, he has always been passionate about his job, his relationship with his son, his friendship with Duke. Why wouldn’t that passion bleed over into his relationship with Cayson.

Overall I thought this book was even better than the first. In fact, I liked it so much; I want to read it again already. I enjoy the way Via can describe and relay human emotion in her characters and make the reader feel their pain and root for them to get their happy ever after. I highly recommend this read. While you could start with Promises book 1 and not be lost, if you haven’t read the Nothing Special series my suggestion would be to start there. The characters overlap and I think knowing who, what, where and when would make this series just that much more enjoyable if you start at the beginning.

First off, the editing in this one was much improved. Smoothing sailing on that note! But, I wish this book started with a prologue of the scene when Quick was a total twat to Cayson from the last book and whatever happened to change his mind so it would be fresh in my mind because the beginning of this one confused me. Quick sure had an about face and I'm not motivated enough to re-read whichever part of the last book that makes this understandable. That being said, I was already totally in love with both of these guys and I've been waiting for their story. It did not disappoint. Poor Cayson and his super shitty run with men and gruff Quick who's denied this part of himself his whole life. I just adore this team's badassedness (new word!). They're so macho and tough and a bit uncontrollable. And I got a little fangirl when God and Day appeared. Oh, I miss those two! Anyways, basically a hot, sweet, sexy read with just enough action and violence to keep things interesting. Next, please!!

2.5 but rounding it up to 3 for the audio

Umm yes I should have listened to my gut with knowing this series is really miss rather than a hit for me.

I swear Cayson was annoying at times and Rome (Quick) was alright. I felt like there was a lot missing, we didn’t see them have the conversation about Quicks childhood. They both felt very surface level.

also I felt like Cayson would say he wants one thing from a lover then get mad at Quick for doing that exact thing… it was annoying and I didn’t get it.

Also the end of the book when they were first confessing their feelings…umm yeah… no… hahahaha that was cringe.

Aiden Snow really makes these books tolerable.

I enjoyed this book better than the first one! The mcs were really sweet together and the plot nice.
I didn't realize that this series is set in the same universe as the "nothing special" series (not the brightest bulb in the pack lol), so before reading the next bounty hunter book, I'm gonna finish the nothing special series (now I am curious about Judge's story!) 😊

Just like the Nothing Special series, this series gets better with every book.

Quick was perfect. He was an amazing character. While he was kind of a dick in the first book, he redeems the fuck out of himself in this book.

Now Case was not my favorite character, but he also wasn't an alpha bounty hunter. Really my only problem was how insecure he was through the entire book. He had his reasons, but I wanted him to be stronger and more self-sure. I also hated how he couldn't realize Joe was a fucking douchebag.

This book has me so excited for Ford and Dana's book though. There was a little bit left unsaid in this book and I'm really hoping it is touch on in book 3.

On to the next...

Why do I feel like there's so much unresolved stuff in this series. Is this why it's titled in parts? It did feel like one continuous plot for different couples and each of their stories blend into one another but I'm not 100% sure. I did like this couple more than the first one. The story was also a bit more intense and revolved in action, crime, and suspense which was what I expected in this series. Book 1 threw me for a loop with the medical drama at first but it was all good when Cayson's role for Book 2 became apparent.

P.S.
I love God and Day but seriously, they're really jackasses on a regular day. 😭
