Fantastic romantic suspense…

I got that ‘woohoo’ feeling when this story hit my kindle and it stayed! There was a lot to enjoy in this second outing – a high-adrenaline, danger-filled read that brought Carys and Cullen together…
Danger, suspense, action – it was all here as Carys battled for survival for her and those she protected. His team was there to assist and Cullen was front and centre, keeping her safe. And sane… Carys was a wonderful heroine – focused when she needed to be with vulnerabilities that made her achingly human. Cullen was military-ready with a squishy heart for Carys, who was strong under fire with empathy and courage he fell hard for…

This was military romance at its finest as the team, everyone, fought to stay alive under horrendous conditions. I have a soft spot for the ‘protector’ trope, I admit. Who wouldn’t want to be strong and independent yet have someone equally strong and supportive at their back? *swoon* Be prepared for the butterflies as this was a fast-paced path to love… ~Diane, 4.5 stars

I had a hard time finishing this book. Cullen was very likable and I enjoyed his character. Carys was difficult to understand and I just could not like her. While the premise is interesting, the story dragged for me.

I think this was a rush job

I’ve read others in the series and by Caitlyn O’Leary but this one was by far the worst. She must have had a deadline and threw it together. The characters were not engaging or really even likable.

Her Tempting Protector was a great book in the Night Storm series by Caitlyn O'Leary.

Our badass with the huge heart, Cullen fell hard for the lovely Doctor Adams while dodging bullets and struggling to keep her patients alive and out of the hands of the enemy. Carys Adams is as selfless and courageous as they come but Cullen can see the toll her time as a surgeon with Doctor without Borders has taken on her. Losing teammates, surviving near death experiences and having to patch up one patient while two more fall has left her brittle but thankfully not bitter. As they struggle with getting out of the country without dying, Cullen reminds her how to feel alive.

This is a beautifully heartbreaking story of the sacrifices of our military and those that answer the call to serve. My heart just broke for all Carys had endured. I fell just as hard as she did for the gentle, funny, adoring Cullen. His lightness was perfect for her seriousness and when he turned intense and protective, hot damn. Beautifully crafted story and fantastic characters!

This was a great book! Full of drama, suspense, danger and of course some serious chemistry I couldn't put it down. I love a good protector to lover romance, and this one did not disappoint.

The best part about this book is that is is so different. While Carys and Cullen have an instant attraction to each other, the two are in such a serious situation that they are unable to act on anything and that chemistry keeps building and building.

Carys is such a strong and amazing character. She was willing to do what ever it takes to make sure her patient survives even if it means putting herself at risk.

Cullen was also a favorite. His instant attraction to Carys caught him off guard, but once he felt that pull towards her he knew he would do whatever it took to make sure she stayed safe.

This book takes you on one heck of a roller coaster ride or emotions. There is no lull in the action and it kept me on edge from start to finish.

A must read book for sure!

This one kept me on the edge of my seat. The narrators were great! Dr. Carys Adams is hoping this latest assignment with Doctors Without Borders will not go sideways but then she is sent off to attend to a pregnant woman and when she arrives she finds a woman struggling to give birth and children who have been abused. Emergency surgery and arrival of a team of Seals and all may not be lost. US Navy Seal Cullen Lyons is captivated by Dr. Adams and after sending the rest of the team off with the kids he stays back with Dr. Adams, the new mother and newborn. Then with danger descending, they start the trek across Africa in a truck. Will close quarters and danger cement the chemistry brewing or when they are stateside find those feelings cool? This one was really good and these big tough Seals fall hard!

Navy SEAL, Cullen and his team are sent on a mission to Africa to get Dr. Carys Adams out of the country to safety as rebels target her. He finds her with a new mother that has just given birth to a little boy and he is miles from the capital and he has to get them all out over rough country while the young mother needs rest to recover. The good Doctor is only concerned with her patients and puts her trust in Cullen and his team to get them to the hospital in time to save the mother.

Cullen took one look at Carys and knew he had found the woman for him and he just needed to move slowly to get her to agree with him. The romance was sweet and he kept her spirits up and helped with the two patients too, especially little Adam. Her Tempting Protector is a lovely love story full of danger and the SEAL not only saves them all but he changes dippers too.

This book had me turning pages and not wanting to put it down.
I do love when Ms O'Leary focuses the storyline on a mission.
The tension, suspense and the team just make it easy to fall into the story.
Then there's the pull of attraction between the couple the books based on.
A relationship starting in a war zone is always going to bring some interesting scenario's.
I really enjoyed this one, Carys was once in another book, which I also have read, she is one gutsy doctor
Who hasn't let her past stop her from caring about her patients.
This mission was a very tense situation, the family, the children, it all creates a compelling storyline that pull's you in.
When it Ended on a cliffhanger I was so thankful the next book was there to read.
Ok I need to find out what happens next...
Not nice Ms O'Leary, doing that to my poor heart ❤️‍🩹
Fyi... Read the full series, they're awesome 👍❣️

Carys is a selfless doctor and a humanitarian which is how she finds herself overseas helping those who need it the most under the most dangerous of circumstances. Not only is the hospital about to be attacked but she has also attracted the attention of the wrong people.

Cullen is the Navy SEAL who has been tasked with rescuing Carys and bringing her to safety, but things are about to take a turn due to the patient she is helping.

There is no denying the chemistry between them but between the peril they find themselves in and her past their journey is not without its obstacles.

Caitlyn O'Leary is a one click author for me. Every book she has written is so good and so real, it makes you feel like you are right there in the middle of the action!! I loved Cullen and Carys story. There's adventure, there's danger, and there is the slow burn on a relationship in the making! I totally fell in love with both of these characters. Do yourself a favor and pick this up!!!

Hmmm hard to rate this one but it just wasn't for me. Safe, I think there should be a trigger warning about abuse. She had a dream flash back about what happened to her on another mission. She wasn't raped but what had happened to her was not good and thankfully another team came in time. I always liked the H but not so much the h. Most of the book was them getting to safety and the last few chapters were them getting together.

HER TEMPTING PROTECTOR (Night Storm Book 2) By Caitlyn O’Leary
This is the 2nd book in the Night Storm series, and it is yet another great read by Caitlyn O’Leary. Caitlyn is one of the premier military romantic suspense writers of the genre. She always has great story lines, strong, sexy, sensitive heros & heroines, suspense, intrigue, drama, witty banter, twists, turns and wow is their chemistry off the charts! This is her story of Navy Seal Cullen Lyons and Dr. Carys Adams who is a member of Doctors Without Borders.
Cullen and his team are sent to extract Dr Adams and the other Americans from a hospital and he finds Dr Adams had went out in the field to help a mother deliver a newborn. He goes to find her and rescue her but finds Carys in a situation where it is too dangerous to move the mother. When he realizes that she is on the list to be murdered by the cartel, he goes into evacuation mode to get Carys and the mother and child out. Cullen knows from the time he 1st sees her that she is meant to be his. Can he convince her? Can she overcome the trauma that she went through during the 1st book?
I was caught up into this story from the 1st pages, and I could not put it down until I finished it! This book kept the adrenaline flowing and the pages turning. Congrats Caitlyn! You hit another one out of the park! This is a definite 5 star read!

Talk about being blown away by a story! This story blasted its way to crowd in at the top of my favorite COL books, which now proudly has 3 in first place.

Her Tempting Protector delivers not only a crazy fun rescue adventure (I mean, fun as in lots of someones are out to kill us kinda fun) entwined with a slowly seductive love story, but it also sheds light on the heartbreaking atrocities that so many live with every day - from both the victims' and the caregivers' perspectives. This book makes you pause and think while you anxiously flip the pages to see what happens next.

There's just something about the quiet but strong (and cocky in a good way) confidence a man emanates when he's secure in who he is, what he wants, and what needs done to both protect and secure that. Cullen knows what his job is and he relishes in doing it - whether it's being a protective big brother, a rock-solid teammate, or the shield and safety for his woman - he takes charge and gives his all. Cullen is the perfect mix of hilarious, sweet, and bossy alpha hero I've come to treasure.

I loved getting to see Carys (from Her Steadfast Hero) make her appearance as Cullen's woman. Her history combined with who she was as a woman - strength mixed with vulnerability, secure confidence weaved with heartbreaking insecurities, her loving empathetic heart supported by a steel backbone - created a gorgeous woman from the inside out. I saw myself in her as much as I hoped I had my own version of strength she had.

Cullen and Carys were the ideal match for each other. She was someone he could protect and take care of, to give the dream of family and love to, while he gave her the safe place and someone to depend on when she needed it, and the someone to have her back as she chased her dreams. They were the perfect mix, neither overpowering the other. I loved how they complimented each other and both drew strength and gave strength from their love.

I adored every moment from the first page to the last, experiencing all the danger and the excitement layered with beauty, heartbreak, and triumphs. Stories like this give the perfect kind of escape for me. It touched my heart in a way that I know I'll remember moments clearly and enjoy revisiting often.

DNF 28%

Pacing was slow with nothing hooking me and I stopped reading at the long flashback of the previous near-rape of the female main character. Was already disappointed with extra and missing words, non-engaging writing and stilted dialog

There were so many extra characters and team names introduced in chapter two that I couldn't keep them straight.

The way Carys immediately diagnoses the autoclave as the reason for infections is too easy and makes the African doctors look ignorant.

Cullen deploying and leaving his dog alone with his sister to come by and walk him once, then how he treats Hans weren't consistent with Cullen's later character.

I couldn't connect with either main character.

We first met Carys in 'Her Steadfast Hero', the first book in the Black Dawn Series. After that ordeal she stopped deploying with Doctors without Borders.

When Abdalla Hamdok the new Prime Minister asked if she would come and consult with Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors she weighed all the pros and cons but finally agreed. Now she was once again in the thick of things.

Called out to attend a woman in labor she takes Faizah, one of the nurses with her to watch over the woman's other children while she helped the mother.

Necessity called for a C-Section to save both the child and mother under very primitive conditions, and a cursory check of the children showed abuse to the point one child could have internal bleeding.

Not having a vehicle had Carys is despairing over how to get the child treatment while the mother recovers enough to travel. It then that Navy SEALs show up looking for her.

Cullen Lyons and Raiden Sato need evaluate the situation and evacuate them. This means splitting up and Raiden taking Faizah and the children to the hospital in Khartoum and returning for them.

I really love Cullen's interaction with the new baby as he encourages Carys to get some sleep. Although as her patient is waking up, she is in the midst of a nightmare where she is back in Santa Flores.

Things are rapidly changing in Khartoum and it becomes apparent they would have to find a way to travel on their own.

This is an action-packed, emotional, and at times romantic journey through rough and dangerous territory as Cullen and Carys work to keep both mother and child safe.

I can't wait to see who finds love in the next book!

Buckle up and hang on tight!

After reading this book I felt like I needed a debriefing and a vacation! The writing is so vivid, so visceral, I felt like I'd landed right in the middle of all the action and felt every heart-pounding decision and every harrowing step as if it were my own life on the line.

Carys is a doctor working in an understaffed hospital in Khartoum. While she's in a remote home saving Shada, a woman in childbirth, the hospital is overrun and two Navy SEALs are dispatched to rescue her, the woman, and her children. Cullen is the hero every woman needs, but none more than Carys and her patients as they flee the woman's abusive husband and the rebel army at the same time.

Getting Shada, her children, and Carys to safety is an action-packed, edge-of-your-seat tale that reminds us of the horrific conditions faced in war-torn parts of the world. One of my favorite parts is Cullen's run-in with an enterprising young man who has figured out how to make the best of his less-than-ideal circumstances. The attention to detail (and the requisite amount of research by the author) is outstanding, giving this story a level of authenticity and realism that makes it impossible to put down.

Along the way, the tension is relieved by the growing friendship and attraction felt by both Carys and Cullen, but it's not until everyone is safe and Carys and Cullen are stateside again that they're able to step back, take a deep breath, and figure out what the future holds.

It is in this last part of the book that Cullen's heroism really starts to shine as he helps Carys deal with the traumas she's endured that don't seem to be ending. I loved the way these two instinctively know how to be exactly what the other needs, sometimes without even words. It's a beautiful, soul-deep romance that has become a hallmark of this author's books. If you like military romances, you'll love this book - and the entire series as well. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

WOW!

What a heart-wrenching, but fabulous story!

I immediately loved the theme of Doctors Without Borders, but this one is with the Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors. It takes a special kind of person to travel all the way around the world to a war-torn country like Africa, to give aid to those that are poor, wounded and in great need of all the basic necessities of life.

Carys is a woman who has the heart of a lion and the soul of an angel and puts her patients first. Her strength of character is remarkable and her heart is full of love and compassion for those who need her special skills.

I love how Cullen and his teammates from Night Storm, face the adversity of the evil and dangerous people creating the angry mob in Khartoum. Cullen finds Carys and his immediate respect for her selfless care of Shada and her young children, combine with his instant attraction to her as a loving woman.

This story has all the feels. There is so much evil and horror in this kind of situation that is a part of every day life for these poor people, but this story also has an underlying thread of tasteful humor, affection and kindness. I loved the “bile flavored saliva” description! I also love the fact that Carys loves Pineapple Fanta! It was endearing to me how capable Cullen was with newborn baby Adam. So many intricate details that give this story its heart.

I would have been thrilled if this story would have gone on a little further to have a wedding and maybe a baby on the way! Love this series!

Her Tempting Protector is another wonderful book by Caitlyn O’Leary. As always the characters are well drawn, complex and interesting and by the end of the book, you have a new book boyfriend and a woman crush on the female lead.
One other fun element of Caitlyn’s books are the references to former characters and books. In this case, Carys was one of the Doctors held hostage in Her Steadfast Hero and as such was dealing with some issues from that and some personal insecurities. She is a strong woman in her professional life, but she struggles a bit with her personal one.
Cullen is brave, protective and pretty much instantly in love with Carys, but he doesn’t push her to move faster than she is ready. He is definitely an alpha male, but he is not a jerk. The action starts early and is pretty much non-stop through the book, but the romance is a slow sweet burn.
Caitlyn also tackles the challenges faced by those who want to make the world a better place – whether doctors or military members – pointing out the toll that it takes for them to contribute in the way that they do. While the book includes some serious issues, there is also plenty of humor and sweet moments – and of course a happy ending. By the end of the story, I still wanted to spend time with these characters and can’t wait to hear more about them in the other books in the Night Storm series.
I got this book as ARC in exchange for an honest review. I strongly recommend this book or really anything by this author.

This was such an exciting book. Dr. Carys Adams was working over in Sudan as a favor for a friend. She had previously been with Doctor’s Without Borders, had something scary happen to her, was burnt out with all the death she couldn’t fix, and had left to revive herself. Now this area was going under a new leader and everything was supposed to get better, but it was not going well. Carys was such a caring doctor that wanted to help anyone she could. When she was in a small town helping out another doctor, an old man came to their office looking for help for a woman in labor and her other children. Carys and another nurse went with the man to help the woman. In the meantime everything went crazy back where she was originally helping. The Seals were called in to help get the Americans out of the country and help the hospital personnel. Cullen was one of the Seals that went out to find Carys. Unfortunately the woman Carys was helping deliver her baby had problems and she had to do a C-section out where she had no sanitization. Cullen and his buddy had to split up as one of the older children need medical help. Cullen stayed with Carys and helped her out. It sure got scary when Cullen found out that Carys was on a list to be found and executed. They had to find wheels to make it back to the town Carys used to work, and keep the mother and her little boy alive. It will melt your heart when you see how Cullen took care of the newborn. With the bad guys after them, it was so exciting, I couldn’t put the book down. I strongly encourage you to read the book.

I felt my heart being ripped from my chest, and as the wound slowly began to heal, it was torn open once again.

While this statement may seem extreme, the essence of a true romantic suspense is defined in the pages of this exceptionally written story by Caitlyn O’Leary, and the reader becomes so emotionally involved in the storytelling that tears flow without conscious thought. This was my experience as I immersed myself in the life and death struggle of a brutalised family and the selfless doctor who risked all for their survival. But survival can come at a price to your soul and would not have been possible without the intervention of the Navy’s finest; and nothing says protection like a bona fide Navy SEAL.

Her Tempting Protector is not a fluffy, sunshine and roses, unicorns and rainbows kind of book. From page one your emotions take a pounding and the brutality of the human race is front and centre for all to see. Those who should be cherished most are subjected to cruelty and abuse by the ones meant to protect and nurture, while civil war rages through a fractured culture as innocents strive to simply survive.

The reality of this story was confronting to say the least, but Ms O’Leary has never shied from delving head long into the hard topics or the losses encountered in trying to make a difference. The Doctors Without Borders were portrayed with honour and respect and their sacrifices should never go unrecognised. And the risks that are taken were recounted in the nightmare of Carys` past, and the crippling effect it has had on her future.

As for the romantic element of this story, well Cullen is dependable, loyal and totally adorable; he also keeps his Alpha maleness to a minimum (except when really needed), while Carys is a self-sacrificing angel whose dedication to the needy is immeasurable, but she is also a damaged soul who deserves lifelong happiness, but doesn’t believe it’s in her future.

The true appreciation of this book is in the reading, so make sure you don’t miss out on this remarkable story as it is definitely one that will touch the hardest of hearts and bring grown men to tears.

Caitlyn never disappoints! Carys Adams is a Doctor in the Doctors Without Borders program, working in a poorly staffed hospital in Khartourum, Sudan. She gets news of a pregnant woman about to deliver, that is in danger. She finds that the mother has been abandoned with two other young children, and they have all been abused by the woman’s husband. While all this is happening, The hospital is taken over by rebels.
Cullen Lyons and His team are sent in to evacuate all Americans from the area. When they find that Dr. Adams is not there. They must find her and get her to safety. Carys refuses to leave her patient. She ended up having to perform emergency surgery in order to deliver the baby! The mother is in critical condition. Cullen and his buddy must persuade her to evacuate. But she won’t leave her patient. So his buddy takes the two young girls, and Cullen stays with Carys. Carys and Cullen must devise a way to get the mother and baby to a hospital safely. It a daunting task. The mother is very ill, and the trip could very well kill her. Carys must trust a man she doesn’t know and try to keep the mother and baby alive. They run into all kinds of dangerous obstacles, and slowly but surely start to build a friendship. Caitlyn O’Leary once again gives us an edge of the seat thriller full of heat and heart!

Cullen doesn't knw what intrigues him most when he meets Carys. Her dogged determination to save as many patients as she can, her selfless devotion to her team or that damn stubbrn streak a mile wide! War zones be damned as far as this doctor goes. Her patients come first and she'll stand up to anyone to protect them. Split from the rest of the team Cullen has to get the good doctor back to safety. That's a tall order at the best of times. But when he learns that she has a target on her head - Cullen is not going to stop until he gets her out Africa, never mind harms way!

Carys knows she can be a bit...single-minded when it comes to her patients but she is NOT goign to lose this new mother and her baby. Not when she fought so hard to save them the first time. Khartoum may as well be the moon as far as distance goes though, 'cos she and Cullen can only drive their patient at snail speed. Will they make it in time to save her charges?

Another stonkingly good read in the Night Storm series. I love the bond between these brothers in arms, they really will do anything for each other. Carys is a brilliant doctor, but an even better human being. I loved that Cullen and Carys romance is essentially just highly charged flirting, fitting when they are fleeing for their lives. Makes it no less hot though!

Superb, gimme more!

You never know where you will meet your soulmate. Carys is doctor taking care of patients in Africa. Navy Seal Cullen Lyons and his team are sent to get her out. Carys is loyal to her patients and when she delivers a baby to a battered mother with 3 other abused children, she is not going to leave easily. Now caught in a web of danger, Carys and Cullen do their best to transport the family to safety. Their attraction is palpable, but duty comes first. Will Lyons and his men be able to transport them all safely? Is Cullen too good to be true? Do they have a future? Carys and Cullen are fantastic characters with depth and realism. The story is suspenseful, extremely entertaining and had me invested in the outcome of everyone. It had me worried, fearful, concerned and in love and I couldn’t stop til the very end. This is my kind of book, and I cannot wait to see what Caitlyn O’Leary has in store for us next.

For romantic suspense books, we need narrators that can build up the thrills and enhance the romance as it builds. Kirsten Leigh and Ryan West are made for this. Leigh becomes Carys. She brings out her personality with compassion and bravery. West has a real fierceness in his voice that aids in the building of Cullen. He is soft, spoken yet so strong. The perfect narration for a fantastic book.

Her Tempting Protector is the second book in Caitlyn O’Leary’s Night Storm series. This series focuses on SEAL team members of the Night Storm team. In this book Ms. O’Leary focuses on Cullen Lyons and Carys Adams. She is a doctor with Doctors without Borders on assignment in Africa. She finds herself amid an insurrection and becomes a target. The SEALS team, Night Storm, is sent in to find her, keep her safe, and evacuate her along with other Americans still there. Cullen is assigned to the job while his team works with other teams to evacuate the other Americans. Carys and Cullen soon find themselves in a relationship. Will they get back to America safely? Will they find happiness together? You must read this book to find out.

Ms. O’Leary does a remarkable job with this military romance. Her lead characters are multi-dimensional. Her secondary characters like the other SEAL team members and the woman who Carys helps deliver her baby and the other siblings are ideal. They provide support for the main characters and help to reveal the true nature of Carys and Cullen. Ms. O’Leary does a great job with literary devices such as dialog (internal and conversational), dual POV, and descriptive language. Readers witness the cruelty and harshness of the civilians caught within the turmoil of an insurrection. Ms. O’Leary’s skill as a storyteller captivated my attention from the start. I will read other books in this series. Well done, Ms. O’Leary.

Her Tempting Protector grabbed me from the beginning and held me firmly in its grip through the last page. I was intrigued from the first chapter as the story was written so realistically. It contained fast-paced action and straining suspense while touching on the DWB (Doctors Without Borders) program, refugee camps and the plight of innocents caught up in the African war zones. This book in the Night Storm series brings back characters from the previous Midnight Delta and Black Dawn series to be in the story of Navy SEAL Cullen Lyons and Dr. Carys Adams. Cullen's Seal team is sent in to get Carys' DWB group out of the volatile country. Carys is at the home of a woman dealing with a difficult birthing. Cullen and another teammate of his are sent to get her. At this point danger and complications multiply. The story flows freely from the author's, Caitlyn O'Leary's, words. She weaves them into a story worthy of your time to read. I highly recommend reading this book as well as those of the previous two series if you want to get the background history of some of the characters. I was given an ARC by the author in return for my honest review. Now you have it.
