Full-color catalogue created to accompany The Albuquerque Museum exhibition by the same name. The exhibit, conceived and co-sponsored by the Center for Desert Archaeology, features the landscape archaeology photography of aerial photographer Adriel Heisey, as well as essays by Center President William H. Doelle, Preservation Fellow Chip Colwell-Chanthaphonh, and Heisey himself. Soft cover, 160 pages.
Catalog of a remarkable exhibit of low-altitude aerial photos of archaeological sites in Arizona, New Mexico and Sonora, along with commentary from the photographer, archaeologists, and citizens concerned with preserving the sites. I was fortunate to see the exhibit at the Arizona State Museum in (I think) 2014. The full-size photos were amazingly sharp and detailed. The plates in the book are well-reproduced, but don't have the impact of a 40" x 50" photo. But the color reproduction and printing are excellent, and there are blowups of some features of the plates. Highly recommended for SW archaeology and desert southwest fans. 5+ star book.
Heisey's other aerial-photo books are also well worth your attention, but I think this is his best book.
