S. E. Steele was born in the South. Though raised poor on a small family farm, Steele attempts to use that upbringing to try and make a mark on the world through writing. Steele went to a small school, but excelled in the arts and was able to obtain a scholarship to a small liberal arts university. Using that education, Steele reinforces the writing with perspective learned there.
S. E. Steele enjoys nature. "I have a family of Blue Jays in the backyard. I feed peanuts to them daily. The father blue jay, who I named Reginald, is very boisterous. He scares away birds and squirrels who are bullies and keeps his family safe. I consider him a pet as he comes everyday, except during mating season."
Steele enjoys the outdoors which influences many of the writing and reading choices which the reader may encounter. Steele traveled throughout Europe and the western United States. There was much exploration of this world that the writer encountered, including climbing the Alps, swimming in cold Swiss lakes, and caving in the great Southwestern U.S.
In A Decent Lie, much of the encounters with these worlds are explored in different ways and used in a classic western setting.
As far as romance, traveling throughout Europe and the United States, allowed for many different kinds of romantic encounters. Steele explores those encounters and unleashes the imagination to create a new and different historical romance thriller based on polygamy. A Decent Lie will thrill you with Steele's examination of love, sex, polygamy and the aftermath of it all as they wind together and ultimately clash.
With the first book in what will be an upcoming trilogy, S. E. Steele introduces Sarah, a Mormon pioneer making her way through a tough world of Mormon polygamy in the 1880s. S.E. Steele has been reading and writing for many years, but with this love of writing and the encouragement of friends, has decided to make this first book "A Decent Lie" public.
Only a four because of grammar, diction and spelling problems. You need a decent editor. HEA closing could have been improved. Too many issues not resolved. What happened to first wife's two living children, etc?
The character of Sarah starts off innocent, but she develops in such a way, it leaves you on the edge of your seat by the end. It was especially interesting how polygamy is described as Sarah becomes a polygamous wife if Joseph and has sister-wives. I was blown away at the romantic relationships in the book too. The ending develops so many surprises at the end that I was captivated and couldn’t stop reading.
Not sure how I feel about this story....there’s not an ending for Tessa’s children...Beckham pops out of no where.....the ending just left me like ehh.... I felt the writing went on and on and sometimes boring.
