Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Rhea Strathmore creates death. Locked within her laboratory at The Arsenal, she concocts whatever’s necessary to protect those around her. She won’t ever negate her pre-Arsenal deficit, but she’ll try. Her past work now threatens everyone she cares for and exposes secrets she’s kept buried. The mysterious man tasked with keeping her alive is more lethal than anything she’s ever concocted. Everything has a price. Fallon Graves defies death with every assignment. He may have traded in his lone operative lifestyle for The Arsenal, but that doesn’t mean he’s a team player. He’s survived his entire life with no one. Why should he change? When Rhea’s past threatens The Arsenal, Fallon is forced to question everything he’s valued. She’s a liability in the field, but he’s not about to let anyone harm the woman who’s more dangerous than any explosive he’s ever created. Together, Rhea and Fallon are one volatile chemical reaction away from going up in flames.

Although this follows a similar structure to the previous books, delving deeper into the past of one of the brainiac women was refreshing. Pairing her with one of the deadliest members of the crew allowed for some contrast and conflict. Putting them in harm's way increased the tension.

The author is managing the ever-increasing cast of characters well, interweaving past stories and planting seeds for the future ones. It doesn't seem forced, even when there are 20 of them in the same room.

Same concerns that the structure of each book seems quite similar - both comfortable and not. The goals of the Arsenal are slowly evolving, which is good. The grand story arc is holding up well.

I'll keepp reading these.

Love the Arsenal series

Wow. Just wow. So much going on. I feel like I need to journal out for Sinclair. Ok just going to dump random thoughts. Rheas dad is a dick. So controlling and rude god he was a pretentious prick in the hospital. And everything on the phone with her. Omg. Ugh. Loved how Fallon slowly evolved over the story and how his team grew more cohesive although the ‘elders’ didn’t always like how his team operated they were a fluid machine and that knew each other idiosyncrasies. Good good the delivery scene was hysterical both the real and cut one. Just like them to have her water break and continue on like nothing. Rhea kicked ass against her ex and he totally got what he deserved. Ugh Bob pisses me off and I’m so glad Vi told him off more than Once. I understand having contingencies but they blatantly hid vital info from them. Dude so hypocritical. You can’t want someone to take out your trash and then give them a hard time for it after because they are slowly clearing the field and apparently the only competent competitor. Loved how they all rally around one another. And how Addy seems to finally clear more of the air around kristoff. I still think Nolan an Dani are going to end up together eventually. Idk but I do. Just a feeling. I see that info is up for an upcoming book about Bree and Ramon which I like because they both fed over the hair incident in zoeys book. I also think a possible book upcoming although he denies it will be Rile and Dom. He is slightly older cause although he and Raul are tight with Dallas I got the feeling there was at least a year or two deprecating them as well. But their banter was adorable and I think it would work as a semi best friends older brother trope. Loved Fallon and rhea together. They are hot. Can’t wait for next book.

This was hard work and not romantic

I have loved the Arsenal series. However Fallon and Rhea’s story did not live up to expectations. Firstly the suspense was so confusing. To many threads, people and events to follow and understand. I have to say I’m still not sure what they were trying to do. Auctions in Russia, Cuba facility, was Stan the bad guy, a puppet, On and on it went. Too many characters, just to many people on every page...phew. Onto the romance. If there was chemistry between Fallon and Rhea...I missed it. Now Fallon has always been a hot hero and wow that so didn’t come through in this book. I think they were only together as a couple when not on missions about 5% of the time. So there was no time to develop the romance. The author loves Jud and Viv ( as do I ). It was clear Ms Carnes keeps drifting back to them because they are way more interesting.

The back story for Fallon had the potential to be interesting but in fact it was a tedious cliche. Kid grows up in foster home..blah blah blah. Rhea girl born into loving controlling family, teenage issues blah blah. I found it telling that at the end of the book Ms Carnes added two bonus scenes that didn’t fit into the book. One was Jud in the labor floor and the other was Rheas reaction to a HALO jump.

I have some advice for the author. Why not focus on Jud and Viviana and Mary and Dylan as they negotiate marriage, love, sexual attraction while saving the world. For sure the author can’t add a new romance to each book while bringing new readers up to speed as to what’s gone before. I’ll be honest the backstory updates was tedious for those of us who have followed the series.

If you have not followed the Arsenal series do not start here. Go back to the beginning but execute a HALO jump at the end of Jesse’s story. Cheers.

Explosions, capture, another baby and love

In the middle of a takedown of a pedophile, a team finds themselves facing something that acts like HERA - drones firing at them and blocking their coms. Quillery and Zoey find a work around on the coms, and everybody comes home with bad guy broken toys to analyze. But the name of the company is all it takes to shake and infuriate Rhea and Bree. Carlisle Industries. Stan Carlisle is Rhea's scumbag ex boyfriend who stole the first draft tech from Rhea and Bree back at MIT. So, with the blessing of the DOD, the mission is to take down Carlisle. They have 3 targets, Tucson, Cuba and Russia, where the neurotoxin is being auctioned. During the planning for ordinance disposal of the basement, Rhea is added to the team. No field training. No self defense. But she needs to see what's being made to assess toxicity and dispersal. Good thing too, they find a lot of info. And when they're back, Fallon acts on his attraction to Rhea. Next, back to Cuba. Bigger footprint, more people, plus Rhea notices a schematic left out that muddles things. Vi calls Bob and is not happy with the answers she gets. On extraction, Fallon's and Dallas's crew and Rhea are captured. The men are tortured, Rhea is caged. But the Arsenal always has another plan - or 3. How do they get home? Oh, and Vi's water breaks during the capture. She gets a call from Bob while in the hospital, and she's even more unhappy There's lots more, but I don't want to spoil the whole book. Lots of boom, somebody catch Bree!

I'll say it once again: I am in awe of this author's amazing talent as a storyteller. I have gobbled up every word of every book in this series and feel like I am part of the Arsenal world that Ms. Carnes has created. I lose myself more in this series than in any other book/series I've ever read (and I read a LOT). I love how Ms. Carnes clearly planned out the series from the start, meaning that in each book, she circles back to glimpses of things with the different characters from a previous book, and we learn more and more about all of them--both their past and their present. I have been anxiously awaiting Fallon's book; I have been fascinated with him since Mary's book and wanted to know more about their history. Fallon and Rhea fit together perfectly, and I'm hoping we get more of the story about Fallon's foster brothers in a future read. This book is packed with action and, in typical fashion for this series, kept me riveted. I couldn't read fast enough. After a long spell in which I've found myself skimming book after book because my interest waned, this was such a refreshing read. If you haven't read any of the Arsenal story yet, start at the beginning (which is a free read); you definitely won't regret it. Trust me--you'll make your way back to this one.

A sincere thank you to the author for providing an ARC for review.

Impact Zone is another highly charged book in the continuation of this awesome series The Arsenal. The opening scene of this book sets the tone that continues throughout this book. It gave the reader an insight to Fallon Graves' character that shaped him into the man and leader that he is. Unlike the other teams in The Arsenal group, Fallon's team are made up of lone wolves who aren't use to working as a team. Their dynamics are totally different but we see in this book how they slowly come together, I have to admit that there were moments when I thought they wouldn't make it as a team.

I love both Fallon and Rhea, they're perfectly suited for each other. We've read the tension between these two in previous books and as a reader, I couldn't wait to see how their relationship unfolds. Rhea is brilliant scientist, her character was well written and she's truly likeable and funny at the same time. I love her interaction with the other members of Fallon's team.

The story was well paced, I didn't feel bored. Infact, it was quite suspenseful and there were moments that I thought our H/h wouldn't make it because the bad guys just keep getting the upperhand. Impact Zone is another winner and another highly recommended book. Do read the books in order otherwise you might not be able to fully experience and appreciate this series.

This is the sixth book in the series and i have to say i really loved Rhea and Fallon's story!
Its dark and sweet and as always the characters the author writes are so complex and broken and perfect!
I always love seeing how the other characters in the Arsenal are fairing and i absolutely adored each single morsel of info we got on everybody!

This is the sixth book and "The Arsenal" series. The book centers around Fallon and Rhea, however we do get info about past characters in this series (which I love).
Rhea is the brilliant scientists behind the Arsenal along with Bree her best friend, they create the weapons to keep the operatives safe. Fallon is the lone wolf of the Arsenal, he feels indebted to Mary aka The Edge for coming to his rescue in the past. These two have been tip toeing around eachother forever and when Rhea’s past comes back and she becomes a liability for the Arsenal, Fallon will stop at nothing to keep her safe.
I really enjoyed this book. It was well written with an interesting storyline that will keep you turning the pages. The characters are well-developed, intriguing and have amazing chemistry. There was plenty of emotions, suspense, danger, action, twists/turns and love. This is definitely a must read for anyone who enjoys reading romantic suspense, but I do recommend that you start reading the series from the beginning with Mary and Dylan's book "Jagged Edge" you won't be disappointed!

From almost the very first page I was holding my breath with this one. Rhea doesn't go on missions, her comfort zone is her lab. Fallon knows this too, and he isn't pleased when he's told she has to go in order to identify bio-chemicals that are hazardous. Chemicals that she had created years ago and not with the intent Carlisle has for them.

They have gone over the plan repeatedly and although she's ready, Fallon's still skeptical and confronts Edge one more time, to no avail.

Rhea's nervous, but Bree also has her back. Unknown to the others she has included a few extra items in Rhea's backpack, just in case.

Taking down Carlisle is a complicated move and the planning has to include several different back-ups.

Throughout everything, Fallon has Rhea's back and to his surprise she has his. She cares about him and it's evident on every page.

These two are a bit frustrating in their dance even as the danger and suspense ramps up.

I couldn't put this book down, the hold your breath action, plenty of suspense, laughter, tears and the romance that is both frustrating and perfect as it makes its way to a sizzle.

I can't wait for the next book in this series!

The suspense, action, and destruction ramp up exponentially while a story arc that first began in ‘Battle Scars’ plays out. We are given the back story for Rhea Strathmore – The Arsenal’s genius with all things related to chemical weaponry – and gain a better understanding for her willingness to dance with death. Fallon Graves is an expert extraordinaire with ordnance, having dabbled with blowing things up since childhood. These two should be a match made in heaven. If only they could see past their solitary ways to trust their hearts.

I enjoyed this couple’s slow dance to romance as each struggled over guilt for their past deeds. The story is very well written and at times very emotional, with plenty of action, intrigue, suspense, humour, plus some steamy scenes. The characters are well developed and the plot held my interest from start to finish. I’m looking forward to the next book in this captivating series.

I am an avid reader, averaging about a book a day. Thank goodness for Kindle Unlimited. However, there are authors, like Cara Carnes that I buy as soon as they are available for purchase. The Arsenal Series is an amazing set of books about strong intelligent women and the alpha males that love, honor and respect them. This book focused on Fallon and Rhea. And is exceptional. This series is one on the great ones, the kind that you actually reread. The "family" of characters grow and develop with each new book. I highly recommend this series and suggest starting with the first book, available for free through Kindle Unlimited. And then you will be able to enjoy this creative world of imperfect people who find a way to make the world a better place. And who love and support each other while doing it. This is book 6. I devoured it and am waiting for the next book because these characters seem real

Check out the Cara Carnes Cohorts group on Facebook for short stories between the major books. This is by far my favorite author.

Like with the other books in the Arsenal series, this isn't a standalone and picks up from where Battle Scars left off - where Rhea basically got screwed over by her ex and the Arsenal are working on a plan to bring him down.

However, the start of Impact Zone digs into Graves' past to show how he first met Mary and why she's such an important figure in his life and how he is connected with Rhea and how that connection makes her just as important to him and someone to be protected. I love the way this then morphs into a relationship.

Then it's back into the main plot, though Carnes seamlessly weaves in subplots for her next books so just keep an eye for them ❤️

There were bits in this book that really had my laughing like a crazy woman - I love Carnes' sense of humour in this book.

I know other reviews have given away more information about the plot and characters etc but I don't like spoiling the read for people. I'll only say that this is a must-read.

Arsenal

This author is hands down, one of the most talented writers. From the first time I stumbled across her first book in the series Jagged Edge. Cara has me gripped and has continued to do so with every book in the series.

The characters are caring Alpha males that boost the women in their lives to a higher level. The women are sassy, kick-ass caring women that won’t take crap from anyone.

The way Cara uses her Arsenal of words to deliver a hands down gripping story that you want to know the end but dread it at the same time, as you don’t want the characters to leave is amazing.

This series, and this author is amazing and if you are looking for a love story that has comedy and relatable characters, story lines that can make you cry and laugh and action that will make you cheer in victory when the good guys win this series, and author are for you.

This series owns me so when I got into this one I wanted to savor every bit of this one. Fallon will enter in with a background bit on how he gets with The Arsenal then we go right into where things left off. This one focuses more on Fallon and Rhea but others are not forgotten and have a large part in this one. How this author does that is how I like a one to unfold giving me more pieces of ones that I know well with getting to more well. Through the events that take place in this one you will be pulled to the edge more than once. She does more than once squeeze us tight in this with many elements. The odd times too they seem to have their children make this unique. The chemistry each couple has could melt any nuclear trouble that came their way. So when the trouble comes after one of theirs the united front goes forth pulling us with them.

I have been immensely enjoying the Arsenal series. I had no idea that it was Rhea’s story when I opened Impact Zone or Fallon’s. Their backgrounds hit me out of the park. This story was so much the suspense story with its twists, the bad guys, and the really good guys. Not to mention the fun weapons. And yet behind the story is the strength of the family that Arsenal brings. It gets stronger with each couple. The way that Rhea and Fallon make it work was perfect. While this is a series, I felt there was enough information that you wouldn’t lose out if you read just this one and then caught up with the others in the series. Yes, there are things that got us to this point. But you will want to get the other books anyways. So just grab and go.

Another great addition to the series. There is this similar formula that each book takes, but it works. The formula provides a foundation, but then we get this amazing unique characters. This one was about Fallon and Rhea and I loved it. They've both been through a lot, but are now able to learn to rely on others. I also loved the music aspect of it and from Rhea's musical tastes, I learned about Mongolian throat singing (!). I kind of wanted to see more of Fallon and Graveyard Justice reunion, but maybe we'll see that more later on. It was also great to see a bit of Vi and Jud's perspective (who is probably my favorite character). Overall another fantastic ready and I still highly recommend the series.

Fallon Graves is a lone wolf, a solo operator or was until The Edge saved his life now he runs a group of former merc’s for The Arsenal. He’s never had a home until now. Rhea Strathmore is brilliant. She enables The Arsenal operatives including Fallon and his team to do the job. But when trouble from Rhea’s past creates problems for the The Arsenal they are all going to have to pull together as a team to save the world. No room for lone wolves.
I absolutely fell for Fallon and Rhea. These two damaged souls are the perfect balm for each other. I love that the author normalizes mental health care. This is an exciting thrill ride that will leave you with a happy heart.

After watching the tension and awareness brew and grow between Rhea and Fallon in previous books, it is finally time for their story. Cara does not disappoint in this book. Understanding the backgrounds of the two and their separate brokenness, watching their relationship grow and how they, together, rebuild each other is nothing short of amazing. Each book that comes out just adds to the complex characters that Cara has brought to life through the Arsenal Series. These characters all come from different walks of life and background but the one thing they find in common is family.
I am in love with this series and each book just adds to that feeling

NEVER ALONE

Learning to function as a team is a challenge for those who have never experienced not being alone, but so worth it. Rhea and Fallon and the newly formed team of loners are l earning that having each other‘s back is hard work as well as so rewarding.....when one is involved they all are.
Impact Zone also explores the sizzling connection between Fallon and Rhea in an explosive background of fast paced action filled with twists and surprises. This book, Like all the books in the Arsenal series, hooked me immediately and didn’t let go till the very end. It was impossible to put down. Highly recommend.

I recieved an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. I LOVE the Arsenal series. This is book number 6, Rhea and Fallon's story. I loved them together, Rhea, the brainiac scientist and Fallon, the loner Arsenal warrior. They tiptoe around each other until Rhea has to go on an op with Fallon's team, things get dicey and Fallon realizes how much he cares for Rhea and she him. The suspense is great, we also get to visit with all the other characters, past, present and future. I highly recommend this book. 5 stars!!!❤❤❤❤❤

Yes to Impact Zone

Absolutely loving this series. Carnes has written another hit. The Arsenal is one of my favorite series to date. Great characters with alpha commandos, kick geek squad ladies called the Pentagon and everything in between. If you haven't read Impact Zone I suggest starting with book one Jagged Edge and working your way to Impact Zone, each story follows the one before. Carnes does a good job of going over previous events but you would get each characters full story if you started at the beginning or at least that is my opinion. Happy Reading!!!

Holy mother of intense!! First this book is not a standalone so you will need to catch up to really get what is happening here; but it’s totally worth it!

Each book brings us deeper into this world of danger, secrets, betrayals and agendas but there is still so much I want to know, see, experience with this group.

This is Fallon and Rhea’s story and lord it is a great example of what happens when fire meets ice!! I loved their slow burn, the danger around every corner and a passion that burns bright!

Definitely a great addition to and already addictive series!

So good

Another great addition to this series. One of my favorite things about this series is that each story is unique, but still ties into the story arc. The internal dialog of the primary characters in each story are unique, and reflect their personalities. There’s lots of drama and action, plenty of steam and romance, all of it flowing well with the story. I’m already looking forward to the next book!

One of the big things I love about this authors work is there are no romance games, none of those little things that annoy me, „oh I’m not good enough for her so I’m going to push her away or I’m going to be a dick so she turns away from me“ no matter how dark and how much the H think‘s he’s unworthy when he makes the decision to chase her, he’s all in, no push pull no nonsense. That right there makes me buy every book without even reading the blurb, she’s that good!

Rhea and Fallon balance each other out I think. They have both had it rough in different ways. There's plenty of action, secrets reveled and protectiveness most the alphas exude when they find the woman made for them. Fallon is dead set she doesn't go on a mission with them, but what was stolen was made from what she does. I liked the ending where the author put snipets of the story she left out. The sky diving part was great. EXCELLENT READ.

Dirtier than you've ever imagined...

Rhea's past comes back to haunt her in every way possible with....

...dirty tactics....

....dirty bombs...

....dirty chemicals....

....and dirty kidnappings.

Thank god the king of dirty operations, Fallon, is there to protect her with his dirty playbook....although they both may get distracted with ....dirty thoughts.....dirty talking....and sexy dirty loving.

Highly impactful

Ms. Carnes always takes you on an emotionally suspenseful, edge of your seat journey. Fallon and Rhea were great together. All of these characters are so deeply developed and getting to know not only the main characters but additional snippets from other characters makes this and all of these books hard to put down. This book is a definite reread!

This series just keeps getting better! I read this in one day and was glued to my kindle! Fallon and Rhea were perfect for each other. Some scenes were so intense that I was deep breathing through them chanting "they'll be okay" over and over! Thanks for a great read, loved the bonus scenes and looking forward to Hostile Ground in May!!
