This book had me crying like an idiot even though it’s a relatively happy story and less depressing in comparison to the first book.

But there was something about Eva. Something about her character and her strength and vulnerability. Something about Eva and Luke together that captivated my heart completely.

The author wrote such a nuanced story about such a hard topic. Our main character has been diagnosed with breast cancer and after witnessing what her mother and grandmother went through, she refused any kind of treatments, choosing to spend the rest of her life how she wished it.
This decision obviously doesn’t go down well with the people that love her and so emotions are all over the place in this one for everybody involved. Valid ones too.

I absolutely adored the way things unravelled in this story, the way it all came together in the end.

The audiobook was great for this one too.

Christina C. Jones is just magic.

As the synopsis states, this book deals with themes of grief, death, and illness. Please be aware of that before going in!

4.5 stars

This book was such a quick read (I listened to the audio in one day), but it was so impactful! Eva has bought a winery and ends up working with Luke to fix it up. Luke's family had owned the winery, so it holds a special place in his heart. As Eva and Luke work together, they slowly start falling for each other, but Eva is hiding a secret. I loved how we got characters in their late 30s and how they explored their pasts and discussed what kind of legacies they would leave behind. And it was so refreshing that Eva was divorced, but her ex was still a big part of her life and they still talked. I really enjoyed all of the relationships in this book and how those were explored as well. I definitely recommend picking up this and book one in the series!

I thought I used up all my tears when I read the Serendipitous Love series. Oh, how wrong I was. Lawd, The Point of it All had me knee deep in feelins’ and crying buckets of tears. Why didn’t y’all tell me this book was so emotional?!!! I had to take several breaks, multiple times, while I listened to the book because the content was so heavy. Whew chile! I was NOT expecting a breast cancer storyline. While I admired Eva's self-assurance and strength when she was faced with everything she had to endure, I was also very upset with her for initially choosing not seek treatment. After watching her mama and aunt die of cancer after undergoing chemo, I understood her decision but, it still angered me. I didn’t understand why she refused to see why Luke, Justine, and Leon were so upset with for making that decision. I mean, come on! Who wants to sit idly by and watch their girlfriend, BFF, and ex-wife purposely die?!!! In the midst of her cancer diagnosis, Eva becomes smitten with Luke. Oh, I adored me some Luke! He was just amazing. He had such a caring and thoughtful nature. And, he was the total opposite of Ben. Mama Georgia, Luke’s Grandmother, use to own the Honey Branch Winery and Vineyard Eva purchased. The winery becomes the catalyst to Eva and Luke getting together. When he finds out about her cancer diagnosis, they try to make things work under impossible and sometimes tense circumstances but, everything comes to a head when he finds out her cancer has spread. Eva realizes her decision is really hurting the people she loves and she finally agrees to get treatment for her breast cancer. I don’t understand why CCJ would end this series with just two books. How on earth did Justine not get her own story?!!! She lost her husband while she was pregnant with Journey five years earlier and has been single ever since. Justine deserved a HEA! It just baffles me that she didn’t get her own book. Despite the heavy storyline and heavy emotions, The Point of it All was a phenomenal book that was beautifully written. CCJ managed to balance it with romance, drama, humor, and pearl clutchin’ sex scenes. This book is why I am such a huge CCJ fan. Her ability to write amazing stories continues to blow my mind.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the Sugar Valley series, I connected with this book in the series on a different level. The characters, the storyline pulled at my heartstrings in the most unexpected ways. The Point of It All focuses on Eva and Luke. Eva purchases a vineyard that was once in Luke's family. Unsure of her intentions with the vineyard, Luke attempts to get it back, but stops quickly when he realizes that Eva wants to restore the value and wealth of the vineyard. While the two get along, it becomes evident that Eva is hiding pieces of her past. The reveal was one that I personally wasn't anticipating and it made me extremely emotional. I've always said that CCJ is one of the most gifted writers that I know. Her ability to write across so many sub-genres of romance never ceases to amaze me, but this book was on a different level. She captured the emotions of each character so well from the heartbreak to the anger and frustration. There is something to be said about a writer who can connect their reader and their characters on an emotional level. This book was so well done and is probably one of my favorites by CCJ. Honestly, if you haven't given this series a chance, I would recommend checking it out.

Eva & Luke 4 ever.

CCJ is quickly becoming one of my faves! The way she writes is just perfect, and her characters 😘. This book dealt with death, loss and cancer. I love that the author didn’t shy away from certain issues, and I really appreciate how Eva and Luke worked through everything together. Communication, understanding and patience is what I appreciated so much in this story. Sure there were bouts of anger and losing tempers, but that’s real life. It’s all in how you work through these problems.

I loved this book so much.

Triggers: Cancer

TL;DR Synopsis:
♡ Small town contemporary romance
♡ Heroine buys a vineyard that belonged to the hero’s grandmother and they restore it together
♡ Strong, struggling friendships
♡ Divorced heroine
♡ Second in series, but can be read as a standalone

I’m so in love with this series. Christina C Jones and Tasha L Harrison both have convinced me that I love small town romances. They never really were my thing until I started reading their books and now I’m obsessed. I love this town and all of the characters and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books! I laughed out loud several times while reading this book and it also pulled at the heartstrings. I feel like only the best authors can pull off both. One thing that really stood out to me in this book was the relationship the heroine had with her ex. Usually exes are awful and cringey, but she had such a good relationship with him and I appreciated that.

Living to Love

Wow CCJ, the more I read of your catalog, the more I am impressed. The range that you have is just unmatched and your storytelling is always beautiful.

In this story we are blessed to experience another couple finding their way together in the beautiful Sugar Valley. Rich Bi#$h Eva had blown in from the city with the determination to rejuvenate a winery that had seen better days. With all the things shifting in her life, she needed something to give her hope....to give her purpose and the winery was that. What she didn't expect was to also find a new love. Luke whose family previously owned the Honey Branch Winery was saddened once he realized he had lost his families legacy. After sulking about it, he eventually offered Eva help to restore it. Not only did they breathe new life into Honey Branch, but they breathed new life into each other. Eva had a gut wrenching secret and I didn't know how it was gonna play out 😩😩 I was so glad when Eva chose the path of life because I was getting sad.

I wish we got to experience some of her "fight." I could imagine how caring Luke was for her and even Leon. I wanted to experience some of that vs. being told about it in the epilogue. Regardless I really enjoyed this book.

Like book 1 -The Culmination of Everything. Loved this book. Gorgeous writing, lovely characters and a beautiful story.

Eva was a freaking badass and I love her. This was a heavy hitter emotionally and dealt with some hard themes but ones I think are super important. Eva's choices were hard to agree with but I really respected those decisions. We don't all deal with life altering news the same way and I think she needed to process and have the proper support while doing that.

I really REALLY hope that there will be more books from Sugar Valley!

The Point of it All is the second book in Christina C. Jones series, Sugar Valley. This could definitely be read as a stand-alone, but if you’ve read the first book then you will be familiar with the town and see familiar characters and the couple from book 1. Just like the first book, this one has a heavier vibe and emotional elements in the story. CW: cancer

Eva is in her 40s, newly divorced, and moved to Sugar Valley after purchasing a closed down winery. On her first day in town, Eva is approached by Luke. He asks her if she would be willing to sell him the winery since his grandparents actually owned it and he was raised by them on that land. But Eva quickly turns his offer down, telling him it’s been her dream to live on and own a winery. She does ask him for help though since he has so much knowledge of the Honey Branch Winery and Vineyard and she does want to get it back operational again. They start working together and it’s their romance! Luke was in the Air Force in the past and is now a helicopter pilot for local tours. I liked seeing Eva’s close friendship with her ex-husband.

I got through this audiobook very quickly but I do have some mixed feelings on the subject matter. I do wish I knew ahead of time that it deals with cancer (like the whole story revolves around that) and more than that it is someone choosing not to seek treatment after being diagnosed. I definitely get that everyone can live their life how they want, but it definitely was hard to understand/get my head around someone deciding to not choose treatment when they had the access to it, endless funds, was diagnosed with stage 2, and how much better research/meds/treatments have been done in this day and age. I will say my personal life/feels/thoughts definitely caused my mixed feelings for this book, but that’s what reading is right…a personal thing, so I also can’t separate.

I just finished the audio version of this one and wow. First of all I am a huge fan of Wesleigh. She has narrated another author’s books I read and she always nails it. I have to be honest, I’m not as big of a fan of Sean Crisden. His female impersonation is always cringeworthy to me lol, but I must say. He did a good job here.

But can we just take a moment to breathe here? I had to take several breaks during this because the content was so heavy. This one was very full of substance and quite different from what I’m used to with CCJ. Not to get me wrong, what I think places CCJ in a league of her own is the fact that she seems to always write characters that have some sort of drawback that causes them not fit into a perfect little mold. She then creates a beautiful story around that and as a reader we’re able to see the beauty of what we probably would never had.

I’m such a nerd. I pay attention to author’s patterns of writing. Many of them follow a certain recipe if you will. I generally expect conflict with CCJ’s hero and heroine once she ropes you in with the chemistry. This particular conflict scene was applaud worthy. Like... she nailed it, and Wesleigh? My goodness. She did the scene such justice.

Sugar Valley is a place where people come to escape their reality. But they seem to find something and someone that makes life worth living again that brings purpose to everything they had thought would destroy them. Dare I say characters are fictionally born again in Sugar Valley?

I’m really sick of these authors making me cry but I love that they don’t shy away from real life issues. Ugh what an emotionally good story. My heart went out to Eva because I know all to well the effects of watching a loved one suffer. She was in a tough spot and either decision couldn’t have been easy. Shoutout to Luke and Leon for having her back. If I ever got divorced ( not that I’m planning on it), I’d hope that I could maintain a lighthearted friendship with him like Eva and Leon. I’m forever a fan of CCJ.

Side note: I loved the mention of Nubia because she’s one of my favorite book characters(check out her story in Inevitable Seductions).

The Point of it All was bittersweet and hit extremely close to home. I adored the strength of Eva. I wholeheartedly believe that she came to the realization that her fight wasn’t hers alone and that her village was there. Processing is hard, grieving a cancer diagnosis is harder. I loved how CCJ tackled this topic. It was beautiful.

Fedora fans, do I have a story for you....

More small town, divorced FMC buys abandoned winery/vineyard and plans to remake it up. MMC is firefighter and helicopter pilot in town who's family had the winery beforehand.

This didn't really have any spark or real chemistry between the leads besides her being into his fedora and him finding her attractive and also trying to get his vineyard back in the least conflict way possible. The main conflict of the story is the FMC having a terminal illness, so if that's a trigger in general, don't think i'd recommend this one with how the illness was handled.

This was an emotional read that hit me in ways I didn’t expect. Even though it’s not as heavy as the first book in the Sugar Valley series, it still had me in my feelings. There was something about Eva—her strength, her vulnerability, her choices—that completely pulled me in. And when you add Luke to the mix? Their connection was undeniable.

Eva’s decision to forgo treatment after her breast cancer diagnosis was heartbreaking, but it was hers to make. Seeing how that choice affected the people who loved her—especially Luke—made this story even more powerful.

The way CCJ explored love, grief, and legacy felt so authentic. I also loved how Eva’s past relationships, including her friendship with her ex, were handled with so much care.

CCJ is truly one of the most gifted storytellers, and this book is proof of that. She captured every emotion—love, anger, frustration, and hope—so beautifully.

Points were made! This was such a great emotional read because usually I pick a side but I could definitely understand both sides of the arguments made. I loved Eva’s unapologetic rich bish attitude. I love the pacing of the story and Luke was everything. I can’t wait for more from Sugar Valley as well. Loved it!

I absolutely fell in love with Eva and Luke’s story. Having read Hostile Takeover first, I already knew they’d get their HEA and that the winery would be a success, so in a way it felt like I was reading their origin story with a little inside scoop. But that didn’t make it any less special.
Reading how it all began was beautiful. A story about love, true friendship, and healing.

These residents of Sugar Valley seem so real at times, for their situations are relatable. This storyline focusing around Eva and Luke was definitely an emotional roller coaster. Good dialogue between the characters as important medical matters were discussed. This was a good story on love and friendship and I liked that book 1 characters made appearances. Looking forward to reading more about the residents of Sugar Valley

Having just read the first book in the Sugar Valley series (which I also recommend), I knew I was going to jump right into this one. I loved the small town feel and the fact that our main female characters head to this town to get away from their troubles, but ended up finding beauty, love and answers in the small town and the men who lived there.

Eva bought a winery that had been in a bit of disrepair and wasn't sure how to get it up and running. But when local boy Luke offers to buy it from her because it was in his family, she declines his offer because this was something that was just hers. After hearing his story and how the winery had always been in his family, she did ask him to help her with her pretty lofty goals of fixing it up though. And while doing that, they fell into an easy and physical relationship. I loved her open and honest conversations she had with Luke and her attraction to him. She did NOT hide it. She opens up why she's there and how she came to buy the winery and Luke was a great listener, supporter and lover.

Christina C Jones knows her characters and knows her small town. I liked the way she gave both Luke and Eva a past and brought them together when they needed each other. Eva had a bit more to handle and Ms Jones put some tough thoughts into who Eva was and her decisions she was making. I understood the journey she was taking us on for Eva, but man was it hard to stand by and watch what she was doing, but I also did understand it. I loved Eva's friend and her ex-husband and how close knit they were. And thank goodness for that because without the love of her closest friends and lover, I don't know if she would've continued to make the decisions she did. Like I said, it was difficult, but I liked the road Ms Jones took.

This is a quick read, but still full of fun, love, grief and tough choices. One minute you are giggling and enjoying the easiness of the characters and the next may frustrate you, but it will also make you think. I really enjoyed this one and really loved Luke and Eva.
And lastly, the audio is *chef's kiss*. Same narrators as book one (Sean Crisden and Wesleigh Siobhan) and they just rock their performances. LOVE them!

This book made me feel things! For context, my angst reading since COVID has reached monumental proportions and my interest in anything less than a full body slam of emotional turmoil is basically zero. So for a book to not only keep me thinking about it after I put it down, but also to make me think about crying a couple times? This book is something serious.

Heads up: major CW for cancer. It's a main component of the plot. So for readers sensitive to that subject please approach with extreme caution.

Despite all the heavy topics and heavy emotions, Jones balances it all with humor, lively secondary characters, and lots of wine. Like, maybe have some wine on hand because you'll want a glass when reading. Or was that just me?

CW: character with cancer, mention of death of family members from cancer, other discussion of death of family members/spouse, divorce, character has accident and breaks a bone, description of past emotional abuse

I purposely stayed away from reads that involved sickness and death for my fear of triggering myself into a bout of sadness for over 6months now. But this series had been on my TBR for awhile and I just had to see what it was about. Now the story talks about illness but it didn't trigger me because how well Christina's way of writing even heavy scenes had me laughing out loud. I did enjoy the audible companion to this read because I just love the narrator Wesleigh Siobhan. I loved that the story touched on a subject of what will be the legacy left behind once a person passes on. It truly is a consistent thought of mine. And some realities that our heroine - Eva - had to realize that touch home for me in this read.
5 stars 🌟as always Mrs. Jones sneaking a message in with the laughs.
***Complete transparency is that I read this book 1st thinking it was the 1st in the series. However I am going back ☺️

Such a good small town romance. I am particularly sensitive to health issues and I loved the care Christina C. Jones put in writing this. I cried so much but I loved it.

The characters were so relatable. I loved Eva’s relationship with her ex husband, we need more dynamics like this in romance novels.

75% Done: Besides my dislike for CJC endings I'm having issues with this one. I am having a hard time accepting the decision made not to treat stage 2 breast cancer. I don't feel the research was done in regards to survivability or "no one knows what happens when it's untreated" because that is not true. Other then that, go awf sis.

My side eye is strong.....

Question: if you received a cancer diagnosis would you fight or opt out of treatment?

Experience 🤔
Eva had it all…married to a billionaire who showered her with all her desires. Then she found out life was short and held no guarantees. Mortality is real…the best you can do is make it worth you while and in Eva’s case she bought a vineyard.

Can you keep a secret? How do you tell your family and friends that you choose quality over quantity? How do you handle their reaction to your decision?

This was an awesome story that makes you ask yourself those questions. When you experience the other side you definitely have a different perspective.

Romance fiction. (Sugar Valley Book #2)

This read was powerful...touches on a sensitive subject (Yes it will have you a bit emotional).
Has me wondering does everyone runoff to Sugar Valley when they need an escape? Location (Alexa where is Sugar Valley...lol). Seems like a beautiful place of peace.

Evangeline (Eva) James is a alimony made rich chick who runs off to Sugar Valley after receiving a slap to the face. Instead of retail therapy, she makes an investment in an out of business winery. Aiming to pour into a purpose. She wanted to be more than the former wife of a billionaire. Everything she was known for had her exhusband attached to it.

Luke Freeman's grandmother (Mrs. Georgia legacy was the winery.) After her passing the winery was drowning in taxes. By the time Luke learned of what had happened, there wasn't anything he could do about it. Now that he could, he was back to regain a family legacy. Problem is--It's not for sale. Eva isn't budging on it. Seems as if everything Luke has ever loved he's loss. So he pretty much lived his life trying not to form attachments and not lingering in a place for too long.

There's a secret that Eva carries that when it's out in the open, hearts will break and the lesson of acceptance will have to be learned. Acceptance is hard when losing the one you love is at stake.

This read will cause a thug's eyes to sheen. Thankful for Ben's cameos which served as comic relief for such a serious topic.

Emotional rollercoaster

Without any spoilers this one had me so far in my feelings I had to wait a few days to write my review because I had to sit with the story. It was a great story about some heavy themes. All POVs were completely valid and you can’t fault them for having them. It also gives you insight of the mind of everyone involved that in the moment you might not see or understand. It helps to really listen and hear what someone is trying to tell you they want even if it hurts everyone in the situation. It’s a heavy book but a great book. The characters are completely developed and fun. It will hit home to a lot of people because it’s super relatable and real life. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
