Nathan Barrett knows what his matchmaking sister is up to but as soon as he spots Emma Montgomery, the unwitting would-be bride, he just can’t help himself.
He goes along with his sister Leigh and gives Emma a job at his company along with a place to live for the summer—before she leaves to finish her degree. It’s won’t be soon enough, though, since Leigh’s put Emma into high gear to fall for this Texas charmer!
Handsome Boss is the second book in the humorous romantic Handsome Devils series by Lori Wilde and Liz Alvin
Lori Wilde can’t remember a time when she didn’t want to write. She even went to nursing school so she could have a schedule flexible enough to allow her to write on the side. She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write.
She sold her first book in 1994 to Silhouette Romance but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out to Harlequin Duets and now, to Blaze.
Lori is an adventuresome soul who loves to travel. She’s taken flying lessons, completed two marathons, rode in a hot-air balloon, performed with a professional jazz band, traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone.
She lives in her native Texas, with her own real-life hero, Bill.
This book was much better than the first. It still moves at an incredibly fast pace after the first half of the book, but at least now the I love you's seemed a little more believable since they came at the end of a 5 week (maybe) period. I thought that Nate and Emma were very cute together. Nate was incredibly smart and charming, but not in a cocky kind of way. He was just a really good guy with a bit heart. And Emma was equally as smart, albeit a little young and head-strong at times. This was simply a cute love story about sacrifices and finding your happiness with the person you love instead of making a career your priority.
I was much happier with the male main character. Unlike his brother (Chase from book 1), Nathan is a mature adult. He doesn't act like a man-child when it comes to relationships.
His and the female main character, Emma, have a sweet romance. It is a bit of insta-love but I like how the author makes it a point to say that the characters understand that love is work. That it takes work to keep the relationship going.
I knew the female would give up everything for the male, they always do in this types of books. However considering what she was giving up (a distant father and a promise of a new academic career that could be achieved anywhere), it was a non-issue.
Both Nathan and Emma are extremely likable characters who have a lot in common, they make sense as a couple. Emma threw a lot of unnecessary roadblocks into their relationship that annoyed me a little. But I suppose there needs to be drama.
I'm glad that so far none of these books have a love triangle or any real competition from the opposite gender. These books are simply about two people forming a relationship and making it work.
The next book features the youngest brother, Trent. Who is another man-child. I'd skip the book but I kind of like him and I'm excited to read his story.
Book 2 in the series and I enjoyed Nathan more than Chase. Still having fun with the sibling banter of the Barretts and the meddling of youngest sibling Leigh. I'm a fan of small town romances and office romances as well.
We have Nathan who runs Barrett Software the big company in town and Emma who is a friend of his little sister Leigh. Leigh convinces Nathan to hire Emma for the summer and give her a place to stay over the garage and slowly these two start spending more time together and falling in love. It's not an easy journey - he definitely falls first despite his best intentions of not getting involved in an office romance but she is determined to leave at summer's end and work with her father in another city. Sometimes though, love happens when you are busy making other plans.
Another easy read, closed door romance that has great banter and enjoyable characters. I'm excited to read Trent the flirt's story and definitely Leigh's ....she is going to find that her meddling is going to come back on her at some point...and it's going to be good.
Emma Montgomery went to Honey, Texas for the summer to be with her friend Lee and for a summer job. Emma cannot stop herself from wanting her new boss, who is also her friends brother.
This is a straight up romance story. There is a little bit of sibling love, dog love, and software love. But at the end of the day it is the story of Emma and Nathan falling in love.
There really isn’t much more to the story. There isn’t a lot of character development. There is actually more character development for a dog than our main characters. However it is still a fun quick read.
Great story, this one is about Nathan and Emma. Leigh brought Emma home for the summer to work for Nathan and stay in his garage apartment. Nathan ran a software company and Emma did work really hard trying to help anyway she could. They became attracted to each other and the rest is history. Enjoy their story.
A feel good, happy story with the great characters of Honey, Texas. Very low key but very sweet. Now that Chase is married. Leigh zeroes in on Nathan and I'm sure Trent will be in cupid's path next.
Good characters. Very funny with family relationships thrown into the mix. The caring and good humor between the sister and her brothers was so awesome
It keeps you wanting to read more. I would recommend this to anyone who has read any of Lori's books before. I have it a 5 star, because I love reading Lori's books.
I Love Lori Wilde's books. There is just no way I can pick up a Lori Wilde book and not be completely engrossed in the story from page one. Handsome Boss is no exception to the rule. I honestly read this book in one setting in a nice warm bath that turned a little chilly by the end. I couldn't have sat this book down for anything though.
I really enjoyed the first book in the Handsome Devils series. Handsome Boss is just as fabulous. Lori Wilde and Liz Alvin have put together a fabulous series and I'm hooked!
The Barrett brothers have their hands full with a younger sister, Leigh that wants to sow a few wild oats in her youth. She wants to have fun and they want her to be safe. So she has decided if she is going to get a chance to have some fun she needs to get her brothers busy. Oh, boy, does she have plans for them.
Handsome Boss is Nathan's turn to have his world turned upside down by the beautiful friend his sister Leigh has brought home. Emma and Nathan have an instant attraction but both try hard to fight it. Nathan knows that Leigh just might be up to no good and Emma has plans to be somewhere else in the fall.
Leight steps back and watches as Nathan and Emma do their best not to fall hard for each other. They have incredible chemistry, they work well together, they play well together and there is a serious friendship forming with a much deeper connection.
I found an instant bond with Emma. She's sweet, intelligent, independent, a hard worker, and a good friend. She has recently lost her mother and is working on getting to know her father more. However moving closer to her father is going to mean she will have to leave behind Honey, Texas and possibly the love of her life.
Nathan sure isn't looking for love. He's busy with his software company and the new program they want to get the bugs out of and launch soon. He loves his family and adores his sister even when she does her best to stir up trouble here and there. Nathan just may have found the woman he didn't think was out there. His feelings for Emma grow each day and he's not sure if there is a happily ever after for them but he thinks he sure might like to give a try.
There is a lot that these two have to deal with, feelings that must be shared, issues that must be dealt with that all add to just the perfect amount of drama for an incredible read. I can not wait to read the next book in this series. I am always anxious to get my hands on Ms. Wilde's books. They are all enjoyable to devour and leave me wanting the next book NOW.
If you love a sweet cowboy romance then you have to grab this one now. If you are a Lori Wilde fan, like me, you are going to love Handsome Boss. Grab the others in this series while you are there. You are going to love them too!
I was given the opportunity to read this incredible story and it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts with you.
Handsome Boss by Lori Wilde & Liz Alvin Handsome Devils Series Book Two Nathan Barrett is the owner of Barrett Software. The company is in the small town of Honey, Texas...where he grew up. His company has done a lot for the town and its residents. Nathan and his brothers have their hands full in another area...Leigh. Their little sister. And she's just been mischievousness again...in a very big way.
Emma Montgomery is pretty excited that her friend Leigh Barrett not only got her a summer job at Barrett Software, but also a place to stay for free. She'll have money to pay toward her college debt and time to write her dissertation. And then, on to a teaching position and time with her dad.
Plans are so easy to make before you have the whole picture. Like Emma's plans before she met Nathan. Her “summer job” ended up being more than she planned for. Loved this story...and even though I know a happy ending is coming, I still end up going through several tissues on the way to that ending. https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Honey, Texas is a small town where everyone knows your name. They also know who you are dating, where you went and well you get the idea. Leigh Barrett is a little bit crazy but she loves her brother Nathan. She doesn't feel bad at all about bringing home her friend Emma from college. She even offers Emma a job at Nathans business and a place to stay in his garage apartment. This is all well and good except she forgot to tell Nathan all this. Now this is just the beginning. You need to read the book to find out where this is going to go. I will say I loved every minute of this book and hated for it to end.
Handsome Boss is the second book in this series and It’s just as good as Handsome Rancher. I absolutely love Honey, Texas and its residents. This story centers around Nathan and Emma. They have some amazing chemistry. I highly recommend all of these books and I can’t wait to read Trent and Leigh’s books. If you enjoy clean books that will make you laugh and fall in love with the characters, then this is definitely the series for you.
I really enjoyed this book & am loving Honey, TX and all the wonderful characters including Rufus the dog! This is the second book in the Handsome Devils series featuring Nathan Barrett & Emma Montgomery & they are a very likable couple. It’s funny, heartwarming, just a joy to read! I highly recommend this book & series!!
Original story with awesome characters ! Flirty and lighthearted. Intense chemistry with insane attraction that could not be denied ! If you haven't started this series yet, I highly recommend that you do ASAP !
Two people with their future worked out have to work together to make a whole new one. Even with what thought they had was set in stone, they are willing to make a life together.
I really enjoyed this story about Nathan Barrett and Emma. It was a very easy read. I liked that it was a clean romance novel. No explicit sex scenes. It was heartwarming and had a wonderful ending, it could have ended much differently. My first book written by Lori Wilde that I remember reading.
Handsome Boss devils Nathan is surprised when his sister comes home. Leigh surprises Nathan when she springs Emma on him. She need a job and a place to stay for the summer. Alot happens in Honey , Texas so I recommend you try the Handsome Boss.
She needs a job for the summer and he needs an assistant. And little sister strikes again bringing home a friend from college to fill the job and keep big brother out of her life. Lots of mental and verbal foreplay, but no explicit with scenes.
Fun, flirty and a HEA. Book two is another great read. I’m not so fond of people who barely know each other jumping into bed, but I enjoyed the storyline.
