But from the moment scam artist Mac tries to dine and dash from perfect Eleanor's restaurant, an undeniable connection is forged between the two women.
Mac has scrimped, saved, and scammed her way through life. Eleanor has always been the good girl, the perfect student, girlfriend, and business owner. There's no reason on earth that they should belong together. Yet somehow, Eleanor ends up offering Mac a job. And that should be that. Until money starts to go missing...
One is perfect: rich, well educated, her life mapped out. One is flawed: broke, street smart, her life in shreds. But together they could build a dream. As long as they can accept that opposites attract.
The Opposite of You is a standalone lesbian romance novel from the author of the Oakview Lesbian Romance series and the Monday's Child series.
I did enjoy this opposites attract / rich girl - poor girl romance. Kindle Unlimited.
Mac is a schemer and a scammer. She's run scams and has stolen to get by, under misguided attempts at getting her drug addled sister out from that life. When she's caught out by Eleanor; a restauranteur with a heart of gold and a desire to give Mac a chance at legitimate work in her kitchen, both find themselves debating an attraction to each other. And their differences.
Mac is street savvy, a little rough around the edges, slow to trust. Eleanor is buttoned up, organized and has a fear of failure. Eleanor also struggles to trust herself and her instincts.
The Restaurant is not doing as well as it should, even before Mac comes into the picture. The culprit is obvious, and that part of the story really did grate and irritate me, massively. The fact that Eleanor couldn't even see what was right under her nose was really frustrating.
However I did enjoy the overall story. It gave the right warm fuzzies and challenges, with plenty of communication.
Enjoyable read about two MCs that really shouldn't fall for each other.
I love that the author was confident enough to write characters with flaws. I'm not sure what stops me classing this as a 5 star book - I think it might be my frustration with one of the MCs not seeing what was right under her nose, which of course is the whole point of the story and what makes it an enjoyable read, but nonetheless I think there were too many times I wanted to yell at my Kindle!
I really enjoyed that the HEA didn't come with marriage or pregnancy and faced a lot of common discussions regarding equal responsibilities in a relationship, normality can be interesting sometimes.
It's a well written book full of characters with depth, available on KU in the UK, I'd highly recommend.
It’s a nice set up of opposites attract and worlds colliding etc. But when our two mismatched characters come together it’s all pretty much solved through instalove. And few surprises to follow. It’s a nice and quick read and free on KU UK.

Just one thing I’d change *spoilers* And that one thing would be the pace, which was too fast for me. The idea is perfect, the main characters have great chemistry and the premise can’t be better. Opposite women from worlds so different it’s impossible they would ever collide (well, maybe if Max played one of her tricks on Eleanor). But miraculously they meet, they like each other, they feel a pull and of course there is someone who will mess with their happy ending. If only the rhythm was slower, the MC taking their time to get to know each other, to fall in love and then that final moment where faith and trusting is all they need to be together. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it and devoured it in less than one day. Thanks to Sienna Waters for sharing!

I haven't read a story line like this one before. I got really involved with the characters. I realize that Eleanor and Mac seemed to fall for each other rather quickly, but I'm all for it. Eleanor's beat friend Joanna really helps her to see things clearer. Mac is a very strong person even if she doesn't see it in herself. She took a huge step in letting Eleanor into her life and her heart. I was really pulling for them to make a go of their relationship. I truly enjoy reading Sienna's books.

Really difficult to make a con artist a character who can be synthesized with: and a book can't be a success unless the reader is happy with the MCs. And this reader wasn't - not to mention WTF moments....
Well here this review goes...i am in a very tough phase in my career and i was fed up from books looks so promising but unable to deliver. Its kind of a bad books streak which this book has broken. I do not care how others might rate it, i will give flying 3.95 star to it. After a long time a light emotional romance made me so emotional at few stages. It is a story of a con women who is struggling with her sister bad condition and finance ofcourse and a good resturant owner eleanor. This is great concept good sharp writting. Keeps you excites with such a nice pace and makes you emotional. Did not like th epilogue very much.
The ending was rushed but i do not wanna complaint about this book. It got so potential of becoming a book like perfect rythm to me but writter missed that xfactor for me.
This is a seeming unlikely pairing of a scam artist and reluctant restauranteur in a fast paced romance with angst and deals in part with the serious topic of addiction. The author's descriptions (Eleanor - stoic but caring and Mac - tough, bold and soft) brings them to life in a crisp, layered storyline where scrambling from one scam to another to survive in bleak circumstances, changes when a helping hand is extended. Supporting characters fill in the plot nicely. The first book I've read by Ms. Waters and I definitely look forward to reading more of her work. Easily recommend with 5 stars. I rec'd an ARC through Booksprouts and this is my voluntary, unbiased review.
My mom always told me that your first thought is usually always right and that we should always go with it. If Eleanor would have had the same lessons she would have known to do the same with Addie and Mac. Usually Sienna Waters has me hook line and sinker but with this book it took me a while to get into it not sure why but I enjoyed it once I got passed the first three chapters it flowed.

I don't know if I'm 100% convinced, but I'm very nearly so, and the journey was exciting!
I "accidentally" read later parts of the book out of order, which helped me to understand where this was going. I don't know if that helped or hurt my impression of the book.
It's not that I don't believe that a thief and conperson can "go straight" (in that sense of the word), because I think that illegal activities can be "who you are" *or* "what you do because of your circumstances." And, hopefully this isn't a spoiler, but not all those who did it, did because they "needed to."
Still, this was such a well-written book. Without hitting you over the head with it, you could see where Mac (the thief) made mistakes over and over again, and where Eleanor "the good girl, on her safe path" made mistakes over and over again. And where they both decided to break their cycle because of the other, even if/when they realized it wouldn't guarantee they got the other in their life as their "reward."
It also wasn't heavy-handed/stereotypical about Mac doing the wrong things for the right reasons. There were *so* many tropes this book could have used, but didn't - sometimes using part of them, never fully steering clear, but never letting stereotypes stand in for actual character development.
This is my 3rd Sienna Waters book I read. The first, "More Than Me" was also an (extreme) opposites attract that worked well. The 2nd was the 2nd in the Shuddercon series (read that series!!!), "The Payoff." I don't see her becoming my favorite author, but oh, my goodness, I really enjoy her work!

I think what I like best about Sienna Waters is that she takes chances with her characters. Waters is not afraid to write a character that might not be likeable. She crafts a character that is human. In The Opposite of You she constructs a character that has had to commit survival crimes to save her family and herself. This is a story I am very familiar with as I work with organizations to stop children from being persecuted from committing survival crimes.
I love both Mac and Eleanor. There is nothing easy about their relationship as not only Mac has a suitcase of trouble she is bringing to the table, but Eleanor has her own issues. Waters creates women who you might know in your real life. They have problems, hang ups, and just want to find some happiness in this world. Waters also creates characters that you want to root for.
I love this story. I think I crush hard on Waters. I definitely crush on Mac. I think you will too.

An interesting love story of a woman who is struggling to take care of her sister who is a junkie. Every time she gets enough money to send her sister to rehab she finds it and gets high. She then runs out of a restaurant without paying, the owner chases her, catches her and offers her a job. She refuses an underworld job with her uncle and decides to take the job. There are a few pitfalls and the owner's ex-girlfriend is eventually exposed as trying to get back together but try to lay multiple blames for theft on the thief. This is. a lesbian love story so therefore they fall in lust and love. Can you find love where you least expect it in reality sometimes but this was a well written sweet love story that will keep you busy reading to see what happens next! Spoiler there is an HEA I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really liked where this story was going. I was excited with the good girl Eleanor and the bad girl Mac pairing. Everything between them had a nice flow of truth. Now Adele; from the first page we know she is the reason for the restaurant not making money. The further in and the fact that every time she comes in to the restaurant she has bags of shopping. Hello Red Flag! But it took to the near end of story and an honest reality check from Eleanor’s bestie to realize what Adele has been doing. Now I do liked how it wrapped up with Adele, she deserved that much but just felt like I was saying over and over Come On No One Is That Stupid. I do like how Mac and Eleanor came back together. So all in all good story but that Adele drama was stretched too long. I have just started reading this writer so I will check out another of her books. I still will recommend........
Bad Woman meets Good Woman (An interesting love story)
Meet Mackenzie (Mac) a .con artist who true to do a runner without paying. But Eleanor chases after her and takes her back intending to call the police , but Adele her partner persuades her to give her a second chance. The restaurant appears to be losing money, but Mac tells her she could be being scammed. They give Mac a chance by giving her a job in the restaurant which she takes. But Adele sets her up for a fall. This is an interesting story and a quick read . Sienna Waters author did an excellent job writing this but I felt the ending was rushed a little. But intend to read more by her. This is why I only gave it 4****stars ,but recommend as it's still worth a read.
I consistently enjoy books by Sienna Waters. They are more real-life - at least in my mind - more realistic. People finding love in different and unusual ways etc.
Trigger warning: drug addiction
Mac is a hustler and a con. She down on her luck, taking care of her sister who is addicted to drugs. Every time she thinks she's ahead something happens. Eleanor is a well-to-do woman with an MBA. She partner with her ex- with a restaurant. Things may seem to be perfect for her but really they're not.
In an epic season, Mac dines and dashes and Eleanor chases after her in heels. Different and unexpected for Eleanor. This could be the a new beginning for them both.
Sienna Waters can write, which is a huge bonus in this genre, but the insta!Lust goes too far.
I've read her "The Real Story" just after this one, and it was identical in how over the top the characters reacted to each other, but it didn't drive 100% of the plot. Here it does. Nothing else does.
I remember off the top of my head a line saying that Ms Owner took weeks to find out Mac's name was MacKenzie. But she had already hired her (and Mac makes plans to consolidate her debt, being officially employed), so should we assume Mac used no ID, signed no papers? The whole situation is ridiculous enough even without the extra flourishes.
Eleanor and Mac were very dramatic characters and their descriptions were were very well written. Addie was also definitely well defined as a supporting character. The storyline was consistent and very interesting as well as entertaining. The sex scenes were both well written as well as steamy but beautifully written. Overall a very well written story.
Ok it started off with potential and it was good. Main characters had clear flaws that the plot would address. But the plot?? It was everywhere. This read like one of those wattpad stories where the person has everything wrong with them possible. It just came off as lazy…like take the time to develop your characters outside of the slew of ailments they have or focus in on a couple. I probably won’t read anything by this author again
Not your typical lesbian romance. But I liked it. Made me look at things a bit differently. Guess I never thought about how complicated scamming people could be. Good book!
The characters in this book and plot aren't my usual but I couldn't stop reading. I find that often with Sienna Waters' books. Slices of life with very real people. Likeable people you want to succeed and make a life together. This one ticks all the right boxes.

This is a great story of a con artist, Mac, trying to survive in a harsh world, keeping her sister, who is a drug addict, alive. She meets a posh girl - Eleanor, when she try’s to run from her restaurant without paying for her food. Good character development and some aghast, adds to the storyline. Would highly recommend.
